British Columbia Premier David Eby is one of the leading Canadian antagonists who quickly aligned with Mark Carney in an effort to gain power. The province was essentially split 50/50, and so David Eby developed a quick plan.
Riding the “Elbow’s Up” wave promoted by most Canadian leadership, Eby announced a strategic snap election in September. His plan was to ride the anti-Trump wave and gain power. However, between the announcement in September and the election last night something shifted. Canadian munchkins began noticing the fraud behind Wizard Carney’s loud but shallow policy. Week by week as the Canadian economy began slipping, a change started.
Then came Lorne Doerkson, a pragmatic and patriotic ‘Conservative’ challenger. Doerkson is conservative in the most Canadian sense. He’s a friendly fellow with tones and a generally affable constitution akin to Mike Huckabee circa 2012. That is to say Doerkson was the perfect ‘non-scary’ candidate to pull in a lot of support.
As a consequence, Premier Eby’s snap election gamble backfired, and he ended up handing the B.C. Conservative Party a majority government. Lorne Doerkson’s party has gained roughly 64 of the province’s 93 ridings (districts), Eby collapsed to 17. {source} Doerkson will now lead British Columbia’s first Conservative government in nearly 100 years. Shortly after the results became evident, David Eby announced he would step down as B.C. NDP leader.
I’m not going to extrapolate too much into this outcome against the backdrop of a U.S. midterm sentiment; however, it would be foolish not to notice the hidden vote base that turned out for Lorne Doerkson.
There is a pragmatic center who fully understands what can be expected from left-wing political policy.
B.C. Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson spoke to party supporters in Vancouver, where he thanked his family, his riding of Cariboo-Chilcotin and campaign volunteers. He promised to work as hard as his volunteers as B.C. premier and praised outgoing premier David Eby for his years of service.

I mentioned this earlier but this is the first time since 1928 that a conservative government has held power in British Columbia.
That in itself makes it a great achievement.
I NEVER would have projected this outcome for Los Angeles Ille Norte (BC). WOW!!!!!……..
Maybe we have overthunk Carney’s portfolio, mission, and vision for Canada…….
Is he possibly an Extension Agent for MAGA-CA, Inc., locking down the Donroe Doctrine after Greenland in the Great White North by protesting TOO much???
When the cantankerous NewFees hold their inevitable vote, Quebec will be crying out to France, Alberta will be the world’s 17th largest economy, and Ontario will be shoving Doug Ford as a last-ditch bulbous plug into the flushing toilet that has become it’s future.
Bless their hearts, and THANK YOU, MARK “elbows” CARNEY! 🙂
AS SCOTTY FROM THE LITTLE RASCALS USED TO SAY”THEY NEVER LEARN”.
I have to admit amazement. The US state of (Commie) Washington is so close to this area, and yet BC seems to be rejecting globalization, despite the amount of Chinese influence in their area.
Maybe people have also had a bellyful of ridiculously high housing prices and watching the loony lose value. We’ll see what Alberta does.
BC has a sizable Asian population dominated by Chinese. Most of the Chinese came to Vancouver and BC to get away from the CCP. They are wealthy and more conservative than you may think.
I would not be surprised if their vote was a decisive factor in this election. According to Wiki, Chinese are over 11% of the population.
@John Chisum-“BC has a sizable Asian population dominated by Chinese.”
Yes, laws were passed to counter their culture encroachment. Apparently, neighborhoods were looking like they were in China instead of Canada. Architecture was uniquely Chinese instead of Western. Immigrants were remodeling their houses to look like architecture you would find in China. So, Canadians wanted to keep their Canadian identity by passing laws that stopped the Asian appearance of Canadian neighborhoods. Don’t bring the culture you fled from to the new country where you seek asylum. Makes sense doesn’t it?
The laws were passed to stop the acceleration of the real estate market. The Chinese had a lot of cash and were bidding out Canadians from their own markets. BC added a tax of sort, I don’t remember the specifics but that action cooled down the speculation and the Chinese went south into Washington and Oregon to buy homes. Those markets ended up in the same place.
Some more thought on the point regarding identity and culture. When the European immigrants came to America they brought their culture as well. They also assimilated as was expected at the time .
The Polish, Irish, Italians, Germans, and so on brought not only their culture and traditions but they stuck together as well. They shopped at each others businesses, attended churches that were predominantly attended by their own, and even neighborhoods became identified with each country.
So in that respect nothing has changed.
The majority of those European immigrants assimilated well because they were Christian…aligning well with our Constitution.
True.
So the conservative voters stayed home for almost a century? They certainly got what they tolerated for four generations. Unfortunately, we suffer from that malaise in the US too. God help us.
My guess is that the cheating was blocked for the first time in 100 years.
They’re conservatives Jim, but not as we know them. 😉
Lorne is a turncoat.
The real Conservative leaders, Dallas Brodie and then Kerry Lynne Findlay, were ousted by a string of nefarious activities including death threats over the last few months.
Meet the new boss (almost) same as the old boss.
Hope I’m wrong…
Dallas was among the first to note the BC conservatives turning left and set out on her own. But she was too much of an outlier to gain momentum.
Kerry Lynne has a track record and would have been what BC needs. She gained popularity fast. But that made her a threat to the uniparty establishment and she was ousted in a coup.
You can get the gist from her resignation letter:

Real conservative independent journos know:

“For the first time in my life, there was a glimmer of hope for B.C. That glimmer of Hope ended today Absolutely disgusted with the individuals that caused this to happen The conservative members voices Got extinguished today We all got betrayed, not just Kerry Lynne.”
We had Turncoat Charlie Crist the Obama hugger for governor in FL, ran as a (D) for US senate.
Now have another turncoat running as a (D) for governor.
Karma Chameleon…
If I listen to your lies, would you say
I’m a man (a man) without conviction
I’m a man (a man) who doesn’t know
How to sell (to sell) a contradiction
Frostback, do you have any thoughts to share with regard to the Asian invasion into Vancouver?
Where might we learn more about the ousting of Dallas Brodie and Kerry Lynne Findlay, the un-sanitized version?
Thank you for your insightful posts.

Emotions, feelings work for a while, then people begin to smarten up.
With the absurdity of the left put a reasoned candidate up mitigate the cheat system and the modern left will be vanquished.
You will get Nixon 49-1 in 1972, Reagan 49-1 1984, the dark ones know this, something must be done…cheat more! The lefts charade only works with fraud.
Right on.
A lot of people may not remember how overwhelmingly Nixon won in his second term.
And he was as good as lynched for it.
That was when they perfected the art of getting an entire nation to hate one man. Nixon Derangement Syndrome
Saw post on Truth Social from GA Nerds about the rampant cheating they are already seeing there. The Commies have really usurped North Carolina and Georgia.
Is a conservative Canadian politician actually conservative, or are they simply trying to achieve communism more slowly?
Good Morning Canada!! Youse guys did good in B.C., keep it up!
It may only be a tremor, but could go full earthquake!
Go beneath the surface and its a Uniparty win
Just shows that in comparison to the whack jobs that Dems and socialist/commie party is putting together, any sensible politician that is not a whack job has a decent chance. DJT will be irreplaceable but one doesn’t need to have that charisma or style to win.
Did the cut back in USAID have anything to do with a conservative winning in BC (like it did in South America)?
Interesting looking at the USA elections….the likelihood of potential “moderate” voters coming out for the GOP, combined with the redistricting which has occurred. Now there are rumblings coming out of both parties that the blue wave exists only in liberal’s dreams.
Politico has dims tempering expectations on the House races.

GOP money now flowing into some races and our great President doing all that he can may give us surprising results in the mid terms. I am cautiously optimistic that the Senate and the House will remain in the GOP. However bitter experience and Paul Ryan reminds to never underestimate the GOP’s capability to lose when they want to lose.
The DC Uniparty must be relegated to the ash heap of history. Investigate and prosecute corruption inside the DC beltway.
Steven Galloway was once at the top of Canadian letters: author of The Cellist of Sarajevo and chair of UBC’s creative writing programme. In 2015, unproven sexual-assault allegations ended his career and split CanLit in two. A decade on, his defamation case is finally being heard in B.C. Supreme Court.
Quillette podcast host Jonathan Kay speaks with National Post writer and Quillette contributor Amy Hamm, who has been in the courtroom. They discuss why the principal defendant can only be called A.B., why she is not attending and no longer argues her allegations were true, the $30,000 bursary UBC paid her after graduation, Galloway’s testimony about losing the ability to write, and what the case says about British Columbia’s political culture.
