RE the section of land for new build, I suspect he took the wind out of Mandami’s sails. Telling him that parcel had people wanting to redevelop for decades…without success. Then noted it would require a decent chunk of Federal Funds. If Mandami wants to do the loosely-goosey massive budget with no performance based milestones determined by a physical inspection (Trump himself, lol, as part of that process) he will have a big comeuppance. The general message was reenforced by Trump saying how much time he has spend at Gracie Mansion over the decades, which effectively painted Mandami as the noob, with no deep NYC ties.
