Way too much. For those who work and get a paycheck – do the math. How much of your hard work is confiscated by the federal government? What’s the percentage? Now add in what they steal for social security and medicare.
If you live in a state that confiscates states taxes, add that in. What’s that percentage? When you get to the end, many will discover that half of their hard work is stolen by government.
And that’s before you even factor in what they steal in property taxes on your house – a house you don’t really own by the way, as they will confiscate it if you don’t pay their property tax/extortion demands.
The Road to Serfdom by Hayek described this situation perfectly, and here we are.

Trump’s flight to Dallas was delayed Wednesday after an emergency slide on the new Air Force One inflated on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews. Trump said workers were checking it and nothing was wrong. The slide was deflated and removed, and the plane took off without incident

That new plane has problems
Boeing holds the patent on the arming mechanism for the emergency slide.
Summary of the invention, paragraph 6: “If the door is opened with the system armed, the escape slide is automatically deployed.”
The firing circuit runs through two switches in series. One closes when the system is armed. The other closes when the inside door handle is moved to open.
Both have to close. It’s not the kind of thing you check. It’s the kind of thing you fire.
There’s a squib in there, a tiny explosive charge, and when it goes it punches a hole in a pressure bottle. There’s no undo. Six seconds later you own a used slide and a placarded door
Like a Navy life raft, but an entire order of magnitude faster. Oops. The background section of the invention LITERALLY SAYS “sometimes personnel open the door following a normal flight and landing without having disarmed the system.
This causes the slide to unfold and inflate, resulting in embarrassment and expense for the air carrier.” He said they were doing a check on it, and that they’d already put it back up. It left on a trailer, pulled by a pickup truck and apparently the plane went to Dallas without it.

I can’t believe a year has passed since we lost Charlie here on earth and heaven gained a saint. I pray that the conservative movement would unite as we did on the day of this tragedy one year ago and resolve to Save America in honor of Charlie. I am saddened that the many voices who claimed that they would pick up Charlie’s microphone and carry on his work have instead become a headline themselves (Candace, Tucker, Milo, the list goes on). I can only hope and pray that there are 100s of 1000s who were awakened on that day who are doing the hard work behind the scenes. The kind of work that Charlie did for a decade without anyone recognizing the ballot-harvesting, voter-registering, youth-capturing, social media blitzing GIANT that the world suddenly realized it needed after he was gone.
