The U.S. has brokered a deal for the IAEA to remove nuclear material from a clandestine Syrian site known as “Site 99.”
Damascus agreed to the removal.
The site holds yellowcake uranium and remnants of the former Al-Kibar program, material usable in a “dirty bomb” though not directly in a weapon.
The operation is ongoing, with officials hoping to complete it by year’s end.
