I am very glad to see Secretary of State Marco Rubio dropping away from this “America is an idea” gibberish I keep hearing about. America is not an idea, it is a nation of people – unique, distinct and very visible.

I get nauseous every time I hear someone say “America is an idea.”
That kind of nebulous jibber jabber is right up there with “the Constitution is a living document.”
It’s code for “America is whatever leftist BS I want it to be.”
Wrong. America is a nation founded by Christian men and women who prayed for a government founded upon The Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God—God’s Commandments.

This says it all, in modern language, “I pledge thee my allegiance…”:
Food for thought, if the colonies were democratic they would have voted “no” for independence.
The usual analysis of the attitude among the colonial population is that 1/3rd was in favor of Independence, 1/3rd was against it, and the last third did not care one way or the other.
Another example of how a motivated minority can be successful against a majority…in this instance successful for something wonderful!
In other cases (French, Russian, Chinese Revolutions)…one would have wished failure upon the minority (in some cases a very small minority)!
It was extraordinarily fortuious that the Declaration of Independence came before everyone could vote.
One might say that America is an idea, which has been realized successfully by our ancestors.
Europeans have an idea about America…and oftentimes it is completely wrong, given the lies told about us in their press.
And that explains why so many soccer tourists from Europe and elsewhere have been so amazed by our country this summer!
If you want an example of “America is an idea,” read Franz Kafka’s Amerika, a novel clearly written by a Central European who had never visited “Amerika.”
