Building supply (retail) shows strong growth (+12,500); that’s good – that’s Main Street. Leisure and Hospitality showed strong growth (+14,000); mostly from restaurants, that’s good – again, Main Street. Shrinking the federal government by another 9,000 – that’s priceless.

“ federal government employment is down by 348,000, or 11.5 percent since the 2024 election.”
All with no impact on everyday life. Thanks President Trump!
Is this the former USAID Director?
It could drop another one million and you wouldn’t notice it. Total Federal employees 2.9 million excluding active military.
When Federal Government employment drops another 90,000 let me know. 9,000 is barely a dent but at least it’s in the right direction.
Well, it’s 9,000 last month… 348,000 total… I would say that’s not insignificant progress…
Brings to mind the old line…
How many federal employees work in DC?
About one third 🙂
That’s better than Vatican City, when asked how many there, worked, Pope John Paul said about half…
In DC, approximately less than 100? The rest are playing video games and watching porn.
Yeah, right. I would guess it’s about 10%.
Define work.
These are great results for Main Street!
“Over the month, job gains occurred in nursing and residential care facilities (+15,000) and home health care services (+11,000).”

How much of the 35K is social service & home healthcare fraud?
I’d like to be one of the 1st to congratulate all of these jobless people on their newly provided opportunity to do something useful and productive for our society. Don’t blow it!
“Economic pundits and experts”. There’s an oxymoron for you. They’re as nonessential as the former government employees and the media.
Hopefully they will be the next group to be let go.
I hate that healthcare and social services consistently have job gains.
It’s an indicator of a sick society.
It’s an indicator our healthcare and social services is fraud and ineffective.
It’s an indicator that Obamacare’s tentacles persist.
It could be an indicator of illegals leaving and legals getting jobs?
I don’t disagree with you but a large part is aging baby boomers of which I am one. Older people need more healthcare and social services. Yes some of it is certainly lifestyle choices many people have made when younger and some still are making those lifestyle mistakes. Still a lot are hereditary diseases and genetic disease that manifest in old age.
Federal employment is “down by 348,000”: but still about 3,000,000 civilian Federal employees! That’s still at least 2,500,000 too many.
Subtract about 700,000 civil employees who work for the military. That doesn’t include active duty personnel.
Great news, now get oil and gas prices falling, and it will be even better.
From the chart manufacturing lost slightly. I would like to see that number increase significantly in the future. Hopefully what was signed under Trump’s tariffs still gets built and starts employing people. The Supreme Court got that one wrong in my opinion and also made a mess of the reimbursements.
More bad news on the tariffs yesterday.
Zero Hedge believes this report is a huge failure. Exclusive memberships maybe? Be thankful every day for Sundance, for the truth, for the steadfastness!
Costs of employees is not much compared to the fraud in social services programs. I would move 50% of the feds to the fraud division. After each employee has caught 500,000 fraudsters they could go back to their former job.
Pretty easy chore, from what we are seeing and hearing.
That’s a crying shame. 9,000 federal jobs lost. We should open the borders and allow the invasion to begin.
Am not buying those health care numbers…
I find it amazing that the EXPERTS are almost always wrong. Can we stop calling them EXPERTS.
Why is it always “unexpected”?????
