noting: can we please stop the IN FIGHTING ?
yes, disagree, but lets not turn this very very important treehouse into a dumpster.
what makes CTH special is that you don’t allow yourself to fall down. We ARE standup PEOPLE.
old man talk, over. carry on
God Bless America
For the time being this cannot be repeated enough.
This, and the endless Off Topic replies which too often obscure and even derail the discussions.
It’s a form of trolling. Stray off-topic, bicker and waste time, fill the comment section with inanity. When it gets really bad, you know the content above is something really good.
Howdy regitiger, I always come here – literally as my Last Refuge. If what you are saying is old man talk, we need an elder mind like yours everywhere in the Universe to turn the temperature down from time to time.
Hard for me to turn off my inner noise, in these times. What I would give to be a fly on the wall in the closed door meeting. I can only hope it was about an interstellar object that has entered our solar system.
A website that has had people around the world tracking it on their super-duper telescopes from all around the world has now gone dark on this topic. Its all very strange.
There’s where I went in my mind with the closed door meeting. I hope I wasn’t off topic. Or tied anyone up in their underwear by posting what I’m reading into the closed door meeting. Cheers and good night.
Long over due. The “don’t ask, don’t tell” morphed into the “show and tell” insanity.
How humiliating.
How rooted in “San Francisco Values”.
Which just means depravity but on our dime.
its about time
Kudos to President Donald Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
“The essential American soul is hard, isolate, stoic, and a killer. It has never yet melted.”― D.H. Lawrence
The concern trolls are whining in the comment section, so you know it’s good.
As others have pointed out, I expect this public display is concealing something more substantial. It’s not just a Trump rally for the brass. They’re getting ready to do something.
Exactly! There are several options – lock down the cities in the face of financial collapse, planet X or it’s energy coming between earth and Mars, Ukraine ramifications, Gaza ramifications, put down the cartels within our borders. My vote is financial issues or the drug cartels – either or both would require the military to assist in law and order. There is also an international facet to those – South American, Muslim and Chinese – take your pick – lots of home boys from other nations here to wreck havoc. Plus all the unleashed violent criminals that Democrats are so fond of.
Watching video clips from “The View” responding to Hegseth’s comments was outright appalling. What gives these self important bloviators any perspective on military service and the nuance of military law and policy versus what liberal progressive virtue signaling “Karens” would expect?
Hegseth was fully within his authority to call every one of these leaders together to read them the riot act on how we will conduct business moving forward. When he stated, “No, there will not be a PT test (today)” you could hear the collective sigh of relief from the crowd. I can tell you, he and POTUS had their attention.
This was how Montgomery cleaned the deadwood out of his command when he took over 8th Army in North Africa in WW2. Sent them all out on a PT run, and sacked the unfit ones.
Spoiler alert: he kicked the Germans out of Africa.
I think Patton also had a hand in kicking the Germans out of North Africa.
Operation Torch
I thought you were going to say “he sent them all out on a PT run – and some of them didn’t come back” 😎 I’m not sure the generals took too kindly to this talk – too bad.
You can actually thank the Germans and Rommel for the Kasserine Pass. That is what changes Eisenhnower’s mind on the tactics going forward.
I award you the funniest post of the day. You watch ‘The View’. Concerning matters of military importance. With a straight face. You are an exceptional comedian. I salute you.
I agree with Cynical Publius.
Find a soldier with a couple tours that just got out (or was forced out).
Buy him a beer or maybe even lunch and let him talk.
The brass who wanted to clap and cheer were held in check by years of political control, still not quite sure it was safe. But that culture is going to change and change fast.
I was shouting & cheering from my recliner. Hegseth’s speech was righteous & glorious. Yet to hear our CIC speech. No doubt it is the same.
Clearly, SecWar Hegseth places primary importance on those in the US Military all being warriors with, it would certainly seem, those warriors who can do the most pushups being the very best warriors.
SecWar Hegseth is no Dwight D. Eisenhower
Dwight D. Eisenhower placed paramount importance on logistics, considering it the decisive factor in warfare. He explicitly stated, “You will not find it difficult to prove that battles, campaigns, and even wars have been won or lost primarily because of logistics”. He never said pushups won wars.
If we get into a war with Russia in Ukraine, or any place else, will SecWar Hegseth order front line warrior American troops to challenge the Russian troops to a pushup contest? The Russian troops would say “Sure Yankees!” and then shoot them all as they were doing pushups.
(I wonder how many pushups Audie Murphy could do)
“Audie Murphy received a total of 33 awards, citations, and decorations during his military service, including every medal of valor available from the United States and multiple international honors. This includes the Medal of Honor, the highest military award for bravery in the United States, as well as the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star (twice), Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (twice, one with a “V” device), Purple Heart (three times), and several foreign decorations such as the Legion of Honour from France, the Croix de Guerre with silver star and palm (three times), and the Croix de Guerre with palm from Belgium. He was also posthumously awarded the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor.”
“Audie Murphy weighed 112 pounds when he enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 30, 1942. This weight was recorded during his physical examination, at which time he was also listed as 5 feet 5.5 inches tall.”
A SecWar Hegseth would probably have kicked him out of the US Army and in about two shakes.
Your getting a bit desperate now, the average height of a US male in the 40’s was 5’ 7’’ so he was just under, as for his physique his main problem getting recruited was that he looked far younger than his age of 17, which was young for the time anyway.
Once in I doubt he was given special treatment for being a ‘first’, so he would have been able to do the standard WW2 PT tests, so to answer your question 30 push-ups in a minute for a ‘fair grade’, though his combat buddies remarked on his natural athleticism, so probably more. Not a very good example to use.
As for using Eisenhower you show your real agenda again. One, his focus on excellent logistics is largely a myth given the supply problems the Allied Armies had after the Normandy landings. Two, Eisenhower was obsessed with the physical fitness of the American youth, believing its deterioration would seriously impinge on future US capabilities to defeat Communism. It’s why he declared May to be the national youth fitness week and convened numerous conferences on the subject.
A bit different when you are talking all volunteer army since the end of the Vietnam War and the draftees of WWI and II aren’t you?
The bottom line is, no matter who you are or what you do in the military, you represent it when in uniform. Why should logistics people or anyone else get the “obesity pass?” You aren’t healthy. Time to gain some self-respect.
You have never served our nation in the military, have you Tommy?
Do you know what a DD214 is, Harry?
I have two of them due to the US Military’s caste system.
Can you figure that one out, Harry?
How we get into a war with Russia that doesn’t involve nukes, I cannot imagine. If there are nukes how many warriors we have won’t matter.
If your body is not fit, your brain suffers and so does your heart. It takes both to manage logistics in war. Part of logistics is able bodied people to move stuff from a central location to where it is needed for whatever purpose. When the bridge to GAZA was destroyed, there was a problem with the logistics of providing aid as well as the engineering of the floating bridge.
Man, I love Hegseth!!!
Yea, that needed to be fixed!!!
So do I – and I’m a woman. But I love him for the same reasons the men do and not as a woman.
Secretary Hegseth’s speech was phenomenal.
President Trump needs new speech writers. He was very subdued, especially compared to his gaggle with reporters when leaving the White House
Remove all DEI and those massive individuals who can’t pass a physical fitness test or tape test.
Way Way to many overweight people that should have never been allowed into the military and get a grip on these people who serve up to 20+ years and then receive 100% disability (golden carpet) plus their military pay and somehow can still work on top of that and people who don’t even make it out of boot camp and they are granted 100% disability .
Adorable! 👶🏻

Pete’s presentation was great, POTUS’s not so much, he was boring, braggadocious, and far too long winded, he should have stuck to the teleprompter.
It’s pyschological manipulation.
Force 800 generals to drop everything and scramble from all parts of the globe on short notice to meet in person with no agenda advised.
Subject them to a series of gut punches by Hegseth.
Then force them to maintain respectful attentive appearance for a 70 minute Trump speech.
Many are doubtless preparing accelerated exit plans today.
Baloney but I wonder who ‘ordered’ them to not applaud their CIC’s oration.
As they should………..
This will decimate the force.
Sure, we want only “lean mean fighting machines” who can do the daily PT and pass the fitness standards.
But what percentage can?
Especially when applied to generals and upper ranks. Do the graybeards need to have the body of a fit twenty-something year old to serve those roles?
Watch what happens now. Expect an exodus. When the upper ranks are decimated, there is no substitute for experience.
Some suspect a Plan to undermine. Similar to the DRPs decimating the DoD (sorry, DoW) civilian expertise.
The Lightbringer retired the brains to get the “yes men” in place!
We can afford to lose these Marxist, DEI abominations. They came up through the ranks under Bush, Sr., Clinton, Bush, Obama!
Only need about 10-20 Flag Officers to run our Military.
600-800 Flag Officers we do not need!
Assuming their is value in the current military’s experience with DEI and drag queens is a stretch. They need an exodus of these and yes men. Then, they can whip the remaining enlisted into mental and physical shape for battle in the real world against real opponents.
I spent over 29 years in the military. SecWar Hegseth’s speech is the BEST speech I have ever heard on our military and the leadership required to maintain a great military. For those of you who doubt the trajectory our military was on under previous administrations, I could give you numerous first-hand accounts, starting in 1976.
Gotta clone these 2
