Mamdani wants to spend $100 Million of NY taxpayers money on legal assistance for illegal aliens. This is especially interesting because as Karl Rove points out (no hate please) this is almost as many votes as he received in the primary which he won due to the ranked choice system. He received 10% of the city’s votes and is now a shoo-in, probably because the AWFLs think he’s cute.

Yes and I’m pissed. We moved to NE TN over 13 years ago and love it. Rush hour? What’s that? Now? Holy crap! Johnson City is the number 1 move to city right now, and NE TN is the third fastest growing area in the U.S. Local gubmint people are clueless about what to do, so they do nothing. People are even moving out of Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis, the blue pimples in an otherwise very red state. The governor is a rino as are the U.S. senators. I’m retired and am thinking of moving to a more rural area in TN. Too many people with bad manners and voting habits have come here.

It was like moving back to America when we escaped california and came here to live in the woods. It was quiet and isolated. And when I say escaped, I mean literally. The details are chilling. My beloved, lifelong home had become unlivable thanks to the politics of illegal immigration and catering to the drug cartels.
18 years later it’s now closing in around us here. I’ll spare you the details. They’re probably even worse than what you’re dealing with there. It involves an aggressive tribe, guns, land grabs and leftist political enablers run amuck, on top of the invaders like the ones you describe moving in on you there.
Loved ones there have tried for the past five years to get me to come to northeastern Florida, but pulling up stakes and fleeing again just feels like an overwhelming proposition. And finding a new coastal home seems like an unlikely goal. Feeling welcome there seems even less likely, despite the our deeply rooted conservative values.
Like you, I just want to be left alone to live in peace and relative safety.

If we define right-wing or left-wing as identified by their own (and not the other side), then all violence is left-wing.

The criminal case against former FBI Director James Comey — ordered up by President Donald Trump as he seeks to punish one of his oldest adversaries — will be resolved by the newest judge in the federal court where Comey was charged.
U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff, a 2021 appointee of President Joe Biden, was randomly assigned Thursday evening to the Comey case, which quickly took on national urgency over questions about Trump’s deployment of federal prosecutorial power to exact revenge.
Nachmanoff, who sits in a federal courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia, has had some brushes with Trump world before. As a federal magistrate judge, Nachmanoff presided over the 2019 arraignment of two associates of Rudy Giuliani — Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman — who were charged with campaign finance violations. He released them on a $1 million bond.
More recently, Nachmanoff permitted the CIA to fire a doctor who had been targeted by Trump’s allies for her role advocating for mandatory Covid vaccines in the military during a prior stint at the Pentagon.
Nachmanoff won confirmation to the federal bench on a 52-46 Senate vote, winning the support of just three Republican lawmakers: Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
Before his six-year stint as a magistrate judge, Nachmanoff spent more than a decade as a federal criminal defender, with his office representing high-profile clients such as Al Qaeda operative Zacarias Moussaoui and a group of Somali pirates apprehended in 2010 after an attack on a Navy frigate.
Nachmanoff once argued to the Supreme Court in favor of giving judges flexibility to impose lower sentences in cases in which jail terms would be significantly inflated as a result of crack-cocaine convictions. The justices agreed, ruling 7-2 in his favor, with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg writing for the majority.

Rather reminds me of the “Spruce Goose,” which Howard Hughes built and flew(!), in order to force the Government to actually pay him for its development. (And, it was a totally-novel(!) way to approach the entire question of “RADAR!”)
Spruce Goose was on display on one of our trips to CA back in the 90’s I think. Near the QE. Too long ago to remember clearly, I’m old. Whichever the ship was that became a hospital ship after the war. I think they were on display in Long Beach, not sure.

The Hughes H-4 Hercules “Spruce Goose” was in a huge, geodisic dome/hangar in Long Beach, California, near the R.M.S. Queen Mary, which liner is still there.
The “Goose” was disassembled and moved to McMinnville, Oregon in the ’90s.
Took the tour in Long Beach and that airplane was colossal. But the cockpit was kind of small. They had a hyper-realistic wax figure of Howard Hughes at the controls, with his aviation goggles, turning his head to the co-pilot so you could see his right profile from behind. Cool and creepy at the same time!
The Mosquito was a wooden aircraft with a low radar crossection and that was known in WWII.

Comey is subjective about lying. Some people get a pass, others don’t.
There’s a worrisome bit, for instance, where Comey talks about his prosecution of Martha Stewart on charges surrounding a stock trade, including making false statements to investigators:
“The Stewart experience reminded me that the justice system is an honor system. We really can’t always tell when people are lying or hiding documents, so when we are able to prove it, we simply must do so as a message to everyone. People must fear the consequences of lying in the justice system or the system can’t work.”
Maybe Stewart deserved to go to jail, maybe she didn’t. I leave that argument to others. What’s interesting about this paragraph is who the “people” are.
