Secretary of State Marco Rubio appears for an interview with Larry Kudlow to discuss the recent reporting around a potential meeting between President Trump and President Putin.
As Rubio notes, following the recent Moscow visit by Steve Witkoff, there is now great clarity on the terms and conditions for Russia to enter a ceasefire period. President Trump has reportedly told EU officials he will likely pick-up the ceasefire negotiations soon via a face-to-face meeting with Putin. WATCH:
At the White House event with Apple CEO Tim Cook, President Trump said that “there’s a really good prospect that” there will be a meeting with Zelenskyy and Putin. But he disagreed with the suggestion it amounted to a “breakthrough.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio notes in the interview here, “an opportunity will present itself very soon for the president to meet both with Vladimir Putin and with President Zelenskyy at some point here, hopefully in the near future.” Rubio added “a lot has to happen before that can occur.”

I agree with you on that. My reference to the words “gives up” concerned the final disposition of the territory. When a nation “gives up” territory, it could have several meanings. If it’s a permanent and total absorption into Russia, then they should just say i. If it’s some other vehicle (e.g. autonomous provinces, cantons, etc.) then they should say that too.
I doubt the ambiguity comes from Russia on the matter, they’ve declared their goals from the beginning, quite clearly and frankly.
If any sense of ambiguity exists I trust that such was introduced by those relaying the message and oh so helpfully adding spin and uncertainty to their interpretation.

I speak Russian, the translation is accurate. “Gives up” in this case literally means the complete removal of Ukrainian control over the four regions Putin mentioned. That includes the region where I was born. Another way to put it, the maps are redrawn to include those four regions as Russia.

Executive Order 14066 of March 8, 2022 (Prohibiting Certain Imports and New Investments With Respect to Continued Russian Federation Efforts To Undermine the Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of Ukraine), expanded the scope of the national emergency declared in Executive Order 14024 of April 15, 2021 (Blocking Property With Respect To Specified Harmful Foreign Activities of the Government of the Russian Federation), to include the actions taken against Ukraine by the Government of the Russian Federation.
To address that unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, Executive Order 14066 prohibited, among other things, the importation into the United States of certain products of Russian Federation origin, including crude oil; petroleum; and petroleum fuels, oils, and products of their distillation.
I have received additional information from various senior officials on, among other things, the actions of the Government of the Russian Federation with respect to the situation in Ukraine. After considering this additional information, among other things, I find that the national emergency described in Executive Order 14066 continues and that the actions and policies of the Government of the Russian Federation continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.
To deal with the national emergency described in Executive Order 14066, I determine that it is necessary and appropriate to impose an additional ad valorem duty on imports of articles of India, which is directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil. In my judgment, imposing tariffs, as described below, in addition to maintaining the other measures taken to address the national emergency described in Executive Order 14066, will more effectively deal with the national emergency described in Executive Order 14066.

I take PDJT at his word when he says he wants the killing to stop. I think he views his inability to end the Russia v. Ukraine war due to the growing power of BRICS.
I also recall him explicitly calling BRICS a threat after watching Russia continue its attacks on Ukraine. Around July 7, 2025, he made clear that the group posed a serious challenge, framing the issue around the global dominance of the U.S. dollar. As he put it: “If we lost that, that would be like losing a world war.”
To him, the dollar is the foundation of U.S. leverage. It’s what gives him the power to negotiate peace and impose consequences. Without that leverage, the U.S. becomes just another nation: vulnerable, constrained, and unable to set the rules.
In that sense—yes, a bully.
My concern about BRICS is more structural. As member nations move away from using dollars to settle trade, those excess dollars flow back into the U.S. and risk fueling domestic inflation. I believe that PDJT’s aggressive push to rebuild U.S. manufacturing fits into this equation. It’s a hedge. By restoring domestic production capacity, he’s trying to reduce America’s dependence on global supply chains and prepare for a world where the dollar no longer guarantees economic dominance. If the dollar weakens, self-sufficiency becomes a form of defense.
I’ll admit I’m still trying to fully grasp what a less dollar-centric global economy really means, but I can see why he’s taking it seriously. Without a serious manufacturing base our country is very vulnerable to inflation and the inability to self-sustain.

If you are Putin or Russian would you trust the west? I wouldn’t. I would meet with their politicians, talk to them, promise and sign nothing and keep right on destroying Ukraine.
That might be a very unwise calculation, especially given the changing circumstances. There are certainly segments of the West that shouldn’t be trusted (and have had deals made with in the past, hence the fool me twice principle is in play), but perhaps “keep right on destroying Ukraine” is playing into the aforementioned plans?
War is an excellent opportunity for cover up, and (at least it is my strongly held belief for quite some time now) there is much that certain actors (not just in the U.S., not just in the West) desperately want covered up — stretching back decades.
…and of course wars need a bad guy, now don’t they?
As I’ve stated prior: Ukraine is merely a symptom of something far deeper. I stand by that.
War is politics by other means. Russia should continue doing what is best for Russia. Our foreign policy can change every 4 years and we rarely have a strategy, just a short term outlook.
Russia is smart, they know WW3 has already started and they are preparing for it. We couldn’t fight or win a land war against them so we would have to fire nukes as we went down. America is not a superior military force any longer and Russia knows it and is preparing to defeat us.
What should we expect from our NATO-EU traitors to sabotage the talks?
A. Drone Attacks by “the Ukraine” on Russian civilians somewhere
B. Impossible demands for Russia to accept a status quo ante bellum and return of the Crimea
C. Attack on/Sinking of a Russian ship in the Black Sea
D. All of the above
To be sure, I would like to be pleasantly surprised by Truthfulness from our supposed European allies, but I suspect Sabotage and the continuation of the Money Maker known as Ukrainian Corruption may continue.
To be sure, certain DEMS and RINOS are with the corrupt politicians/globalists in Europe as well.
