Oh why not. It’s that time of year again.
Today we often think ourselves as being somehow unique, as if our popular cultural phenomena such as celebrity, fads, fashion trends and rages never occurred before. Of course this is not true. Humans have always been subject to these herd movements and stampedes.
One such instance occurred one hundred years ago with the people living in Central America, for they had developed a passion for English condiments. English pickle relish, mayonnaise, mustard, pickled eggs, they couldn’t get enough of the stuff. Mexico being the largest country in Central America, and therefore the largest market, the Mexican passion for English condiments was also the most frenzied. At the turn of the twentieth century, everyone traveling to Mexico was surprised to find their burritos, tacos, and chimichangas loaded with English pickle relish and mustard.
Now, most people think of the Titanic only as a giant passenger ship, and we forget that it also hauled freight. Below the passenger compartments was a massive freight hold filled with European goods and merchandise bound for the Americas, and included in the goods within this hold was the largest shipment of English condiments that had ever been assembled, bound for Mexico through New York.
Anticipation of this shipment of their beloved English condiments was at a fever pitch in Mexico. Parties were planned for the ship’s arrival date, and it had the build up and emotional charge one sees today with the day a new iPhone becomes available. So, as you might expect, there was great shock and an outpouring of public grief when word reached Mexico of the loss of the Titanic and with it their much anticipated shipment of condiments. That grief was so strong and so widespread that in Mexico a day of public mourning was declared. That day of national loss is still commemorated today as Sinko de Mayo.

This poor old horse has no shelter, no company – breaks my heart. I’ve literally never seen his people out talking to him, petting, enjoying him. 😔
I can’t for the life of me understand why they have him. His name is Poet – what a sweet name for a sweet boy.
Oh tears for the poor boy. If you can not give your best to your pets, no matter if they are cats, dogs, horses, burros, etc., then you shouldn’t have them.
Being on a fixed income, I do without wants and only provide for my needs, so I can properly feed and take care of the pets God has blessed me with.

Oh that brought tears. Thanks. I had a mare that went blind and an older mare would lead her around in the pasture by letting her rest her nose on her rump. It was beautiful. That mare took care of the blind mare until the blind mare passed to heaven.

COMMENTARY FOR 1 CORINTHIANS 3
“The Corinthians reproved for their contentions. (1-4) The true servants of Christ can do nothing without him. (5-9) He is the only foundation, and every one should take heed what he builds thereon. (10-15) The churches of Christ ought to be kept pure, and to be humble. (16,17) And they should not glory in men, because ministers and all things else are theirs through Christ. (18-23)1-4 The most simple truths of the gospel, as to man’s sinfulness and God’s mercy, repentance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, stated in the plainest language, suit the people better than deeper mysteries. Men may have much doctrinal knowledge, yet be mere beginners in the life of faith and experience. Contentions and quarrels about religion are sad evidences of carnality. True religion makes men peaceable, not contentious. But it is to be lamented, that many who should walk as Christians, live and act too much like other men. Many professors, and preachers also, show themselves to be yet carnal, by vain-glorious strife, eagerness for dispute, and readiness to despise and speak evil of others.
5-9 The ministers about whom the Corinthians contended, were only instruments used by God. We should not put ministers into the place of God. He that planteth and he that watereth are one, employed by one Master, trusted with the same revelation, busied in one work, and engaged in one design. They have their different gifts from one and the same Spirit, for the very same purposes; and should carry on the same design heartily. Those who work hardest shall fare best. Those
who are most faithful shall have the greatest reward. They work together with God, in promoting the purposes of his glory, and the salvation of precious souls; and He who knows their work, will take care they do not labour in vain. They are employed in his husbandry and building; and He will carefully look over them.”

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

The Little Seed
God dropped a little seed down to the ground
Across a rock hard path with a small bound
To rest where the soil was loose, moist and deep
Not perfectly flat but then not too steep
In a hole sized right to hide from the birds
And gave it life by His spoken word
God made sunshine to warm the rich ground
And brought some clouds with light rain falling down
God gave all things the little seed could use
All the right things at all the right cues
And then God said to the little seed “Grow”
But not too fast and surely not too slow
The little seed split with a small green sprout
That lengthened and wound to find its way out
Many tiny roots weaved through the rich ground
To where God placed nutrients to be found
As the small plant grew, God sent out some leaves
To gather fresh air for the plant to breathe
As the time passed, the plant grew very tall
Sending out roots and leaves, both big and small
God said “Produce fruit” and buds sprang out
All over the plant they started to sprout
Then came flowers, pollinated by His bees
Small green fruits formed as God met their needs
They flourished and matured as time went by
All by God’s plan under God’s watchful eyes
To grow large and ripe in God’s golden sun
And be blest by God and God’s holy Son
That little seed could have been you or me
As God formed us and provided our needs
And shaped us, as clay, into the right form
Keeping us always safe, sheltered and warm
He gave us His Word, so that we knew
And His Holy Spirit, so that we grew
We learned from His Word to follow His will
Just as Jesus did on Calvary’s hill
He gave us good gifts for us to use
And eternal life we can never lose
We grow in His grace and produce His fruit

For His salvation, so rich and so free

It’s been colder here in N. Texas, as well as, lots of rain. Another flood warning today into tomorrow. Third one in the last five days.
A severe thunderstorm finally left my area. Very noisy and very hard rain! Lights blinking a few times also during the height of the storm. Hoping it all goes away by late tonight. AC on a few days ago and heat on today!
I’ve got my own water eco-system forming in my yard! Although the toads, frogs, crawfish, lizards, etc. are enjoying this weather. Yes I have crawfish in my yard! They build mud houses and that is how I know there are crawfish in my yard.
Randomly clicking…with Israel in mind…their population is less than the population of IL, to give one an idea…Israel about 9.4 million, IL, 12.7 million…of which about 5 million live in Cook Co.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Evening Prayer For Future Guidance
Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.
And so now Lord, I commit this night to you, asking that I would rest soundly and wake refreshed and strong to do Your bidding. This I ask in Jesus’ precious name,

Prayer Of Thanksgiving In The Evening
Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord
I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful nights sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will.
