Remember what President Trump did every time Kim Jong-un did something stupid? He hit Beijing with an economic hammer. ’17/’18 DPRK does stupid, Trump slaps Xi. It worked like a charm. Xi stopped influencing Kim, Kim and Trump became friends.
Fast forward to 2025. The EU Commission does a big stupid, Trump hits Macron with an economic hammer.
[SOURCE]
Why this approach?
See below.
If Europe is stupid enough to keep giving President Trump justification to do something with ancillary geopolitical benefits, President Trump is going to take that pitch to the bleachers every time.

I hope our idiot leaders in Australia can keep schtumm, not do anything stupider, and offer up more of our delicious wines to the US, to help fill the shelves for anyone who occasionally fancies a foreign drop!
The EU and others are going to be seeing stars and stripes by the time this slapping contest is over. And they will KNOW what hit them! rofl
I am probably going to offend some of the would be sommeliers out there, but the tangible and operative difference between a French wine and a domestic wine is just not great enough to get worked up about making their prices prohibitive. I for one won’t miss them one bit, and the value of sticking it to Macron and the French…..Priceless!
I’ve never been super impressed with French wine, but some of our domestic stuff, particularly from Napa and Sonoma valley, have blown my socks off. Even Texas has some quite decent wine nowadays. I’d be fine going the rest of my life drinking nothing but domestic wine. It’s literally the finest in the world.
Wine became morr science than talent about 20 years ago. Given tolerable climate, there’s nothing special about winre regions anymore.
As a homebrewer of 27 years, I agree. Your particular climate, soil, water, process, etc. use to matter, back when we didn’t know the full science behind it. We just made the stuff following what we did the last time. Now, it’s all science and perhaps a small, special addition/subtraction that could set you apart. That said, people find out what your secret is easily enough, through science or repetition.
Bingo!!
Maybe but it’s the grape harvest and the environment that grap was grown in can make a difference. Bur yes the actual manufacturing process is well established
The cost to bring a bottle of wine 4000 miles makes it cost more than the same wine produced 40 miles away. It isn’t rocket science.
Actually it’s mostly marketing and advertising poop…eeerrr….garbage.
Please try New Clairvaux out of Vina, Ca. Great History and the best wine We have found. Cheers!
Behind the Lassen Steakhouse ?
Don’t forget other states….Oregon, for one.
Some CA and OR wines are getting expensive, but many are reasonably priced.
Plus Australia and NZ wines are really inexpensive.
New York wines are not too shabby either unless you are a wine snob.
“New York State boasts over 400 wineries and 1,600 vineyards, with the Finger Lakes being known for Riesling, while Long Island and the Hamptons are famous for Merlot and Cabernet Franc. “
Though some may ‘sniff’ at Brotherhood Winery – it’s ‘America’s Oldest Winery’ since 1839, in
Washingtonville, NY.
My brother used to live down the road from them.
(Also close to KSWF Stewart Intl Airport).
I’ve had a couple of their wine glasses 🍷
for more than 40 years.

Or a CA snob like Gavin, and Nancy, and Schifty…
I’ll stick with beer…
It’s no coincidence that the first post on this thread is from Johnny Walker…

Virginia makes some great wines. NC is coming along too! I do have a favorite Portuguese wine, but I can be patient while the EU destroys itself!
My neighbour in the Wisconsin Driftless area started wine production on his home farm. He is a chemist and knows more about the Wisconsin soil than anyone I know — generations of his family lived here.
The stuff is absolutely awful ! He insists on serving it enthusiastically nad it can be a challenge to politely sip and then look for a discreet potted plant to dispose of the rest.
I think California is better suited for domestic production.
It is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. ……… HAhahah …. love it.
Our Oregon Pinot noir ‘s are the bomb! Try them, you won’t be disappointed.
You are right.
Hell…. even Idaho makes some decent vino
ya that Ida hoe potatoe wine is usulally called vodka
Good grief, even American rap stars make better wine than the French
I’ll drink a nice, robust, heavy bodied, malty stout to show my support.
I just discovered coffee stout this year. Yum!

Also a really great coffee stout.

Check out their beer list.
American craft beers are stellar.

I was always a fan of Morgan Davidson wine.
Ah,….MD 2020, it was actually 20 proof, or 10% alcohol, made great wine coolers, long before bartles and james started prebottling them, and thank you for your support!
Its not going to be a problem for AMERICANS, but its gonna be a big PITA for Macaroon…has he caved, yet?
Ford Caved, Pres. of Mex. caved, Pres. of Colombia caved, Schumer caved, surely Macaroon with go with the crowd?
So you’re saying they are cavemen?
Not buying expensive French wines on the expense account at dinners with Swampies will really be a hardship for all those bigtime Washington DC lobbyists. Awww, (sad trombone music)
Oh my gosh I knew Dutchman would have some positive input on MD2020..haw haw.😁
I remember that for sure, And also Boone’s farm apple wine and strawberry hill.
That was mostly for the girls though.
that was back in the 70’s , you know
Also Italy, Portugal and Spain.
And some of the best in all of Europe are from Austria!!!

Also known as “Easing Jesus”.
I will admit to Annie Green Springs.
Graduated to Blue Nun, which is still being produced!
Blue Nun is widely known as the worst wine ever to be produced in Germany.
Yeah back then we knew it wasn’t great, but wine drinking was not as specialized as it is today.
You bought something that was fairly cheap and it didn’t matter the taste.
Wouldn’t buy it today that’s for sure 🙂
NIght Train.
That’s a name I hadn’t heard so I checked into it.
Produced by Gallo then discontinued recently. This article gives great info on NT and other Gallo products over the decades.

Yes, the German’s keep all of the good wine and spirits that they produce for themselves. AFD will prevail eventually.
well that may be; but as a panty stripper is worked just fine

Eh, I like French wine, but I’ll try others if it becomes cost prohibitive. If the goal is to get to zero tariffs, I’ll wait for things to settle down. We have a few years for the EU to figure out how to play in the sandbox like good kindergartners. It really is not that hard, but it may take some time.
TBH I wouldn’t know the difference.
I grew up drinking the great French wines at table. Since the U Cal Davis program in the 80’s great wine can be found everywhere at great prices.
Grocery outlet has world class wines for $10 a bottle.
A+
I read every comment here and there was not one comment about the greatness of Queen Nancy’s fine wine.
It has to be the best because you already paid for it.
Chateau du Swill?
You betcha!!!
Go DJT!!!
I learned from early age Boone’s Farm is where it’s at. 🙂
Strawberry Hill!
I’m shocked! No one has mentioned Cella Lambrusco….(“Oh, Aldo!”) it was 1980 and we thought we were sophisticated. Ah, good times, good times
Ah… Cold Duck was another one we drank and thought we were “where it’s at.” LOL!
I was going to chime in with Lambrusco, too. Forty-five years ago it pleased my palate; now days I like Pinot Noir snd Sauvignon Blanc, from Oregon/California, and Australia/NZ respectively.
😉
If you must drink an imported, Argentina makes some good wines.
Have a friend who claimed that France had a bunch of grapes die from disease years back and they replaced them with American plants.
Yeah baby!!
Tariffs on wine and various foreign spirits does not affect me personally…
Now, if they start putting tariffs on the fine Peruvian Strawberry squeezable spread that DG sells…

I drink Andre dry champagne, and Cook’s if Andre is not availabe. Both are bargain basement brands that still taste good.
If you are a brandy drinker, Korbel makes expensive champagne but very good and very inexpensive brandy.
British Columbia’s Premier ordered all U.S. liquor to be removed from all Gov’t liquor stores (largest seller) and cancelled all future shipments of American booze. Done. Canada will sell Canadian booze across Canada and it will be enough to satisfy all the boozers except a few with very select taste buds. Small to large Canadian wine, beer and liquor producers are ramping up.
Grocery shelves have “Canada grown” shelves everywhere and Idaho potatoes, California lettuce etc. are all missing or reduced and replaced with Canadian alternatives. This will become the norm. The push is on for self sufficiency as much as possible and less reliance on imports. Job creating industries will not be so easy but there will be successful ones as Interprovincial trade expands where again self sufficiency will prevail. It’s crazy that Canada blocked interprovincial trade or had strict restrictions.
There were few if any serious problems at the border until the large number of Americans needing drugs reached epic levels and Fentanyl smugglers were enriched. Canada now also has it’s own elevated drug problems.
What an absurd response.
“Arlan” is our Daily Death to American Business Doom and Gloomer.
Concern troll. And not a very effective one at that.
“Concern lite” it went over my head…😃
But there IS a problem now and President Trump tried to address it. Why not address the current problems and solve the situation. No one is pointing fingers, let’s just smash the problem before it gets larger.
You are correct, but many people are uncomfortable with conflict and hashing out problems. I get it, but this is more of an abuse than a simple problem. We should actually be more pissed off than trying to be reasonable and tolerant at this situation. President Trump is actually very angry this has gone on for so long and he’s right. Where is our righteous anger at the global bullies giving us the finger all these decades. I ask you, what country has done anything for the USA lately, anyone? As far as I know, not one country gave aid for any disasters we had, maybe there was one but never heard of it.
It really is quite pathetic and a wake up call. I rest my case.
Not the Canadian government, but rather Canadian citizens came to help western North Carolina after the hurricane . They helped Restore power, and provided other assistance. Sort of similar to the way it was US citizens who came immediately, and are still here, helping the people of WNC, whereas our government was late to help and more caught up in rules to muck everything up.
Thanks for the info…I knew there had to be one and not surprised it was the Canadian people.
Conflict is a constant state in this life. We are born cold, wet and hungry, and everything goes downhill from there. 😂
You’d think you guys would care more about how the Euros are taking you to the woodshed in trade, or how about them China 100 percent tariffs.
By comparison, we’re at only 25 percent.
That’s how you know your lips are permanently affixed to your fake news boobtube and don’t have enough brain power to know when you’re being bamboozled.
lack of critical thinking skills seems to be an epidemic
Offer zero tariffs if reciprocal. Non will take it because they tariff us to death already, including VAT . They never will be able to deal on a level playing field. Bring industry back, grow our own fiber, food, and fuel. Listened to logging industry representative say we could burn residentials from milling operations to power electrical generation. We can’t have a closed loop from logging, to planting etc and never need to import wood. We have rare earth minerals here we just need processing plants. I bet we could figure out how to be a self sufficient country pretty fast and employ Americans in high paying jobs here. Just a thought.
Correction “can have closed loop…”
First of all, I’m PDJT biggest fan. You say: ‘they tariff us to death already, including VAT.’
I heard the President mentioning the same several times. And that is not a smart remark, to put it mildly. Let me explain.
VAT is a tax charged by every EU country. The rate differs per country. Between 19 and 26% (the 26% is charged by Hungary) on consumer goods and about 10% on food. VAT is not charged only on imported goods into the EU, but also levied on everything that is produced in the EU itself, including services. Call the plumber, and you get a bill for materials, labour and on top of that 20% VAT. A farmer that produces a crop, has to charge 10% VAT on his product. VAT is deductable for businesses, the endconsumer pays the 20 or 10%.
VAT is charged on all imports into the EU from all over the world. A car made in the US is charged with the same 20% as a car made in China or a car made in Germany or France.
So I hate to say it, but PDJT’s VAT argument in the tariffs discussion is moot. Lucky for him, all the EU politicians and leaders also have no clue about how VAT works. If they had, they would slap him in the face with his VAT remarks.
As a former licensed customs broker I know what I’m talking about.
I agree, let’s not get bogged down on something no one really understands.
( Side note, the complexity is a weapon).
Instead, let’s make it simple.
Going forward, 1000 percent tariffs on anything and everything Europe.
( Btw, how does anyone suppose President Trump is going to force the EU to get in line on the Ukraine) ?
🎯
well, if Canada didn’t allow it in their country
and cracked down on the sale of murderous drugs to America
hmmmm…….would the US have an “elevated” drug problem?
also, fentanyl is not a drug that users look for –
it is sneaked into other drugs – such as pot, etc.
many who die from fentanyl drug use
have no idea they took it
Exactly
Canada is in total denial about the unreal levels of corruption in Canada. Not just drugs.

You’re viewpoints are duly noted and China will keep the supply routes humming…
We in America didn’t appreciate Victoria Canada’s daily dump of raw, unscreened sewage into the Straight of Juan de Fuca.
Canada always has had drug problems, just like everywhere else
Go to downtown Vancouver & it’ll be obvious.
America First, not Chinada.
UKranada is a threat to democracy.
Let’s Go Democracy!
Self-sufficiency is the goal. Exporting beyond that capacity is great in an equal playing field. If Canada’s Tarriffs were not so bizzarely high in the first place, reciprocal tarrifs would not be necessary. Tit for Tat!
No one visits BC unless they have a lefty relative living there who has benefited from the insane economic politics of that lefty gummint.
Those comfortable in their moment (mostly inherited) are hypocrites. Too many examples to share here….
I know from whence I opine.
I had an uber lefty friend or 20 years who lives there, Vancoover, tidy and secure. Typical lefty Socialist Trudeau voter.
And SHE finally after too many failed arguments defriended ME on FB. I continued to debate and argue… she could not refute I guess. I wasn’t surprised. It’s what losers do.
Let’s have Alberta join the USA and trade them MN.
It will be a double win for us, a double loss for them.
Eventually you have to face the consequences of your crazy views.
Sooner is better than later, since the “interest” is less.
After the election, I recall MSNBC telling all the loyal cult members to cut ties with any friends or family who didn’t share authoritarian leftist political views. And like the sheep they are, the cult members responded. A lady I know had a friend from childhood send her a nasty text out of the blue and unfriend her on Facebook. It was within a day or so that MSNBC started putting that message out. I told her you don’t need friends like that.
I avoid the mentally ill.
I would love to visit Victoria, BC again. Butchart Gardens are very beautiful. But will never set foot in Canada or California again. They will never get another voluntary cent of my money again. Same goes for Europstan.
Rick with what you propose for a trade you must have offered and signed deals with Native Americans in a past life
And…
OOOOO, great idea, Alberta for MN. However, isn’t Calgary pretty messed up?
Great idea!
So retailers are removing stock they’ve already paid for?
Bet they are none too happy about that….if they’ve even thought about it.
What are the odds that the Snow Mexican govt is going to subsidize their loss?
Liquor stores in BC and ONT are owned by the provincial government, things like profit or customer satisfaction mean nothing to them. I don’t drink hard liquor at all and domestic beer is perfectly fine so I haven’t looked, but stores in Alberta are private and I highly doubt they are removing existing stock from the shelf.
Sounds like it is a good thing going on in Canada… Canada First! Eventually, you will all be much happier by increasing your domestic product for domestic consumption… much like we will be here in America as we put America First 😀
Win win!
Some chains put the Canadian flag under the shelves with Tropicana orange juice. They think Canadians are that stupid (which is pretty much true, 90% of them are double vaccinated, over 50% enthusiastically).
oh! I wonder if they will be missing the money from the massive tariffs they put on the American products they
used to import?
I read that some supermarkets just re-label the goods as made/from Canada
They won’t unless China tells them to. LOL!
With as short a growing season as Canada has that is not a very smart idea. Let us know how that works out for you.
You know the PM lifted that ban on US liquors immediately. Nothing was effected. 🤦
We have lots of Canadians cross the border & buy everything, booze of all kinds, wine, beer cigarettes, normal groceries & gass and oddly propane.
We are in NE washington state & the boarder is only 25 miles away this goes on so much that the local stores all accept Canadian money.
When will the EU EVER learn? President Trump for the win!! He wasn’t kidding was he!! It’s a great day in America.
Last Verbose Post during Tariff War
Thanks to sundance and Ad rem for Last Refuge. It has been a very informative site and one in which, as a Canadian I could “vicariously” enjoy P Trump’s successes. I really needed a diversion at that time.
It’s past time that I ceased commenting on here due to the emotions and irritations caused by being on opposite sides of the “tariff war.” This is understandable and the correct thing for me to do out of respect is leave a great MAGA site to some of MAGA’s best supporters.
I hope someone here has a connection to the WH so they can pass on news about Point Robert’s in Washington state. It is isolated inside Canada and due to the heated tariff situation, their businesses are going to be bankrupted soon as their Canadian customers have almost disappeared. They used to have a great relationship with Canadians but like some of the Canadian snowbirds in Arizona etc have said recently, they are yelled at to go home by Americans. Americans from Point Roberts have experienced similar reactions. P Trump should find a way to keep them afloat, they are good people. Trudeau and Freeland etc publicly stirred up American hostilities as well of course but P Trump’s demonization of Canada is a major factor in the anti Canadian hate. I’m not falling into that trap of denigrating an American visiting my country.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/point-roberts-trade-war-tariffs-worry-1.7481556.
This why trade negotiations should be done in private until a proposed settlement has been reached and agreed to by most citizens. Trump loudly proclaiming that “Canada has been stealing from us for years” encourages hate to become a normal reaction even though Trump happily signed the USMCA. 99.999999 % of Canadians had no role in the USMCA grand theft. .
Thanks again for tolerating me as long as you did and I hope this fight between our 2 nations will be settled fairly by both sides sometime this year.
Adios Amigos—Gracias por el privilegio de comentar aquí
Bola de nieve Mexicana
I – nor should any American – have nothing against the people of Canada. It’s the idiots running their country that should be the target of any ire.
…and Canadiens on their high horses should treat the Point Roberts Americans like they’d like to be treated.
Judging by the rhetoric here the past two months I guess Americans have Matthew 7 3-5 removed from their new testements when it comes to Canada
Sad. They didn’t think of that when they were persecuting the truckers and the vaccine insanity. They were going to freeze bank accounts. Such hypocrisy.
So let me get this straight. You are going to stop commenting, because reasons, or something?
Im Canadian too.
How weak is that? Man up! Like what?
Ive stuck up for us many times here, when some were bashing our Country. The intelligent ones understand its our Government and not the good people, who are Conservative and love President Trump. Ive straitened out many confused people here, on our culture( Stolen), our media (Stolen), our education (Stolen) our gun laws, our patriotism, and have yet to have any serious issues with others opinions. There will always be the Canada bashers, that cannot separate fact from fiction or separate the people from its Government.
We are all under attack by the same forces of tyranny, in both nations.
PDJT has a point about tariffs, and its been 1 sided for a long time, and I have 0 issue with him balancing the deals. And neither should you.
Grow a spine man. This post is a sign of a weak person. If a few comments are all it makes for you to shut yourself up, that says a lot more about you, than it does others, like myself. Its nothing personal or an attack on you buddy, but toughen up, holy smokes man!
I dont recall us being weak. You doing something like this screams of soy….man up!
Adios Bobo.
Weak sauce…
Hey!… I thought you already said goodbye.
Excellent points, Bobo. North Americans have a common problem – governments that don’t work for the people.
Another great post from you, Bobo. Thanks.
Well Bobo, you sound more like an American, freely speaking your mind and willing to listen to opposing views. But as a Canadian, you understand that your citizens are not all willing to accept a boisterous man like PDJT. Our laws give Americans freedom to speak their minds, not to offend which may happen, but to invite dialogue, troubleshoot problems and seek possible solutions. Canadians are not very comfortable with discussing unpleasant truths.
We are experiencing a once in a lifetime problem between our nations, and it is being hashed out in real time, full transparency. Quite the show, but worth the price of admission.
Not everyone is up for this fight the West has been facing for years. God speed to all patriots on both sides, where there are plenty of good hearts and minds 🙂
Well, I can honestly tell you, I know more people like me, than not.
In fact, I dont speak to any libtards. The few I have known since my youth, I jettisoned out of my life years ago. Even 1 childhood friend. He was so libtardish, I couldn’t deal with the stupid.
There are more of us than you think.
Just watch the election.
You’ll see. Unless the libs steal it, they will have their arses handed to them. It’ll be a landslide. Even with all this tariff stuff, people have had enough of these woke, WEF, banker bootlickers on the left. Their policy’s suck, life is unaffordable, we are being carbon taxed to death, and the normies have literally had it with the left.
I predict a floor mopping. Mark it.
I think you are right and this is your last chance, same as we had this past election.
We will be rooting for the Canadians to be triumphant, to save that beautiful place you call home.
My wife and I went on a vacation to the Dominican Republic before the election and ran into a whole bunch of MAGA sounding Canadians who were pro DJT. I was pleasantly surprised.
Hoping nothing but the best for our northern neighbors when this tariff stuff gets figured out.
Like I said, there are more of us than people think.
We want a Donald John Trump. Believe it! Bigly!
Pierre P is not him, but he is a ton better than the libs and socialists.
We shall see. The betting sites say PP is going to mop the floor with the clown libtards. So do the polls.
PP is headed in the right direction at least !!!
Tell him Bob!
Cheers Bobofthe north
Here in British Columbia things are mighty interesting.
Two friends are incensed about the “ Trump Tariffs “
I just laughed at the both of them and said President Trump is 100% correct.
Trudeau, Carney Freeland, Ford and out Eby here in B.C. just burned Tesla today by denying Tesla the provincial E.V. rebate, but only Tesla.
I hope President Trump destroys us…we prepared and don’t give a cluck.
Are globalists leftist scum…
Cheers!
Prez T’s tariff should be a wake-up call to all the Canucks. BC is the epi-center of Fentanyl production & distribution ww, the corrupt criminal political class turned into drug lords, running the province & the country just like a narco state dishing out hard drugs liberally & neck-deep into money laundering.
The gravy train has to be stopped but these rascals just don’t get it. Now they r appealing to the gullible Canucks’ sense of patriotism to cover their malfeasance .
Btw, it’s the Conservative party, under former PM S.Harper, who whored away the country’s sovereignty to the UN & the current drama coach was just gleefully implementing it; his replacement ‘Carnage’ is just another Castro on steroid. The only untainted political party is the PPC of the Maxim Bernier. But for the time being we r bigly STUCKED, so screwed…

Great video with true insight on the problem of fentanyl. Thank you.
He’ll be back with a new profile watch…
“The True North strong and free”
You are getting too worked up over Americans electing President Trump to secure our border, stop the barrage of fentanyl crossing from Canada into the United States, and rightly adjusting the trade deficits.
Do what floats your boat, however, no apologies for what has to be done to get America back.
Well… bye!
Classy exit, but, really, there is no need for you to go. Dialogue is more important than ever. Stay.
Dunno if I’d call such “Oh, woe is me” drivel ‘classy’, but to each their own, I suppose…
This isn’t the airport or train station so it’s not necessary to announce your departure. 😉
When Canada can levy nearly 300% on dairy products then the US should retaliate. If you want to be treated fairly then you have to treat us fairly. You haven’t which is why Canada is getting all the tariffs levied against it. The US has propped up your country for decades with your nonsense tariffs and providing military defense. What has Canada provided in equal measure?
Must be a fence sitter, or a Canuck version of our RINO’s…
Weak people, cannot handle the heat in the kitchen.
Never think we are as a people, as thin as this person. This may have been a polite exit, but it reeks of an insulted, crustless sandwich, wine spritzer drinker…
Like you said, it aint an airport. Take your bags and walk, no need for the whine…
What I don’t get is that Trump’s mentioning Canada — while some people didn’t know if he was actually serious or not — it was only a metaphor. All he was saying is that Canada needs to stop acting like one of our states and start being its own independent country. It was way past time for an intervention. And the reason why Trump did it that way was to shake you guys out of your drug-induced stupor because you obviously believe every single lie your govt. tells you.
And while we in America don’t really talk about the trade imbalance all that much, it’s always just under the surface, constantly rubbing us raw. It has been a real sore spot for us for a very long time.
Canada should have handled it like the UK did. UK simply said, hey, we’ve been tight, always been tight, and we’ll just work out this issue behind the scenes. We’re like, cool, let’s talk, because it does need to be dealt with.
But you guys started pulling out the nuclear bombs, literally, right off the bat. We’re like, WTF was that? And for doing the very same exact thing you guys did just a year earlier, calling China out for unfair trade practices. What rank hypocrisy.
” was to shake you guys out of your drug-induced stupor because you obviously believe every single lie your govt. tells you. ”
Us guys? Really now?
Who you talkin about?
Not us guys pal, its the nut jobs in charge. Us guys, didnt vote for that effete light loafed WEF plant.
He won with less than 33 per cent of the voters, and had to be propped up by the Socialists.
And in my opinion, they stole our election too.
So take your Us guys and point it at the librats. They are the Us guys….
I say you guys because I still have yet to see proof of life that there are any Conservatives in Canada. I’m not even sure I see so much as a heartbeat.
Yeah okay.
Ill follow the rules and not say what Im thinking.
You got a mouth, that’s for sure buddy.
You are talking to one. And every family member I have, and all of my friends, Every single one. And millions more.
Step off your high horse pal. What was the last 4 years before President Trump? Yeah, you got nothing to say about that. People like you are why there are arguments going on. You think yourself better than us.
You aint.
–
Nailed it on that idiot Biden !!!! America has a lot of skeletons in our closet !!!!
Regardless of how heated this trade war gets, I will never forget the “bond of brotherhood” I felt, with the freedom convoy.
I gleefully donated, never got it back, and feel it was well worth it, to stick a thumb in Macrons eye.
Hence, I have no problem seperating the Canadian Govt. including all wings of the Uniparty, from the Canadian people, who lined the route, and gathered in all the cities to support the truckers.
And of coarse there are our Canadian Treepers, Cheers Dekester, Dale, Bob of North, etc.
How could we forget the “honking heard ‘round the world”. Yes, it was a wonderful show of courage, patriotism and Canadians should be proud. Trudeau was exposed after that debacle for his tyrannical tendencies and total disregard for average Canadian workers.
I wanted to donate, but by the time I was ready, the lovely Ms. Freeland started with the bank freezes and that stopped all donors.
The truckers will always be remembered and hopefully a monument will be made, so everyone remembers them for their tenacity under the boot of oppression.
Yep, you are correct. I was one of those people standing out on the highway, in -33 weather, handing out care packages and coffees to the truckers.
I live in a city of 52,000, and Im telling ya, there were at least 30,000 of us lining Highway 11, freezing, but showing our true colors for the patriots.
So when people bash my Country, I get all bristly and crispy, and patriotic, because no other Country on earth had the gonads to stand up to the tyrants in those numbers.
We are as patriotic, to the bone, as anyone on earth, when they question our guts.
Notwithstanding the woke libtard morons. There are more of us, than them. And it showed, for weeks.
One thing I’ve learned, it takes a helluva lot of crap to finally get a Canadian really pissed off. They have the highest tolerance for all kinds of BS, but when they decide to make a righteous stand then they are formidable. You really had the stick in the eye from Trudeau for 10 years, so Canadian anger against the govt. is completely justified.
I am old enough to remember 911 when inbound planes had to land in Canada and the Canadian people took them into their homes because there was no place for them to stay.
Yeah, we fight like brothers, but when the chips are down, we know what to do.
Had 3 of them land on our 10,000 foot runway that day, 1 of only 3 in Ontario. The hotels gave them free rooms, and there were indeed, many of my hometown people who took people from all over the world into their homes. Thanks for the mention.
Admired and you should be so proud to have played such a role!
When the government froze bank accounts it was a huge signal the lengths those arrogant evil ones
in power would go!
The way business is conducted may change, but once the dust settles and everyone has time to understand each side it’s hopefully realistic to believe these hostilities will be isolated and dissipate.
Dont forget the debanking
Arlan,
We want transparency in our government and frankly your reaction sounds more like a child!
You are not even close to being a MAGA enthusiast, Trump admirer, if you believe you know best on how President Trump should be conducting the tariff issues!
President Trump is advocating for USA and that’s why we elected him, he’s also invited Canada to come on the Trump train, but if not would still love to start doing fair, logical, economically savvy deals with your country.
Why should that message be so private?!
Why should “we the people” not be aware of unfair tariff practices?
It’s the government/power players that are being criticized not the Canadian people!
Look at other comments and consider the much higher tariffs your country has been paying to China as one example and maybe channel some of that anger towards those that have been benefiting greatly, I am sure it’s not the average Canadian citizen!
Canada has been benefiting to the detriment of USA economy and the millions that support President Trump take great pride to finally have a leader advocate so openly for this country
We the people need to know there’s light at the end of the tunnel and these changes take time, but, when President Trump is able to share certain deals in the works openly he should!
This assures us another issue can be added to the list that President Trump is working on to MAGA !
So sorry we can’t replicate President Trump for Canada but, Elon Musk may be working on that behind the scenes!😉
Now that’s best kept under wraps!🤣
I grew up in the midwest and have been fishing in Ontario since 1988 or so. Going back in a couple months; can’t wait. I went to school in the PNW; my university had a reciprocal in-state tuition agreement with several western provinces and a good architecture program. I am still friends with a couple of architects in Alberta. Canada is a beautiful place, Canadian soldiers were known for their skill and bravery in WWII, most Canadians are fantastic people. We have a lot more in common than apart. Let’s not allow politicians to divide us.
p.s. James Corbett and Matt Ehret are two of my favorite reads
then ask your friends to cease booing our national anthem
that is coming from the people
not the politicians
I have business associates in both Toronto and Montreal.
Good people.
But, the vibe underneath is definitely jealous of the US.
Watched a bunch of hockey games this past week. In the US and here. Utah people didn’t boo us. San Jose people didn’t boo us. Vegas fans didn’t boo us either. In fact, every stop on my teams Western swing, didn’t boo us. Only time I saw that happen was in NYC, vs the Rangers. But its NY, so I wasn’t surprised. Its a libtard s-hole, as we know. The Boston fans did boo a little bit, but it was only a handful of fools.
The Toronto fans didn’t boo Florida tonight. I haven’t seen that happen except in Montreal.
But, well that is Quebec, who love them, their libtards. That province is the biggest reason we had Castro Jr for all these years. Quebec is like being in a different country. The Frenchmen sincerely dont like anyone who isn’t a Frenchie…I’ve been there many times, and been snobbed and snubbed, because I didn’t speak French. There were so many people I met there, who dont even speak English. It was weird. The Quebec border is 45 km’s from my City, and when we were younger, we used to go there because the drinking age is only 18. We used to go to this 1 bar, and all the boys at those bars hated us, because their women flirted with us, all the time! LOL! Seen a few good donnybrooks over that back in the day. Good times!
Keep in mind though, there are some serious rivalry’s in hockey. Some fans boo the other team in both country’s, a long time before all this stuff started. Toronto/Boston is one of those rivalry’s that go way back.
Booing at a sports game? Heaven forbid! Better censor them to show our commitment to freedom, stat!
I have to admit the booing shocked me it’s like spitting at someone, so rude!
President Trump knows how much the masses have missed the patriotism that was literally being stamped out of this country before he returned
This was, timing wise the worst time Canadian citizens could have chosen to disrespect our national anthem!
Contemplate, the current situation is a result of 50 years of failed leadership and betrayal on both sides of the Border. Trump is the only leader in my lifetime with the courage to say enough, not throwing more good money after bad.
Change is hard, everybody wants some until they get some. The global order is being reset, tariffs, illegal immigration, drugs are just lines in the sand. Think big, long term.
Canada could be the new Maine.
“Just a thought.” – Gov. RePete
I see you say “during the tariff war”.
So maybe we will hear from you again, with some interesting viewpoints.
Freedom and fairness is the goal…good luck.
I like the Canadian people and I’ve had many great interactions with them. I went to college in upstate NY and we had dual meets with McGill, played both anthems, had beer after and truly enjoyed each others company. I cannot stand Trudeau or Freeland, but I would never hold normal Canadians accountable for their idiocy.
In that spirit, hoist a Labatts Blue and I’ll do the same. Then we can continue our discussion for the good of international relations. Cheers!
Exactly! We love Canadians.
But it was ok to say that fentanyl is provided because of all our addicts????
Many never knowing that fentanyl was in what they took.
The fentanyl is a scourge, all over the place. I live in Northern Ontario, and every little town and city, including mine, has the walking dead drugged out zombies, all over the place. Tent city’s and all. Even in the dead of winter, where -40 can be a normal day.
I run a loader, plowing snow at night, and I see them everywhere, lurking around, stealing anything that isnt nailed down. The police are overwhelmed with property crimes coming from these people.
It is really sad. To be honest. Every City in North America has this problem. I cannot say I lay blame in any 1 place. The drugs come through, where ever and through whomever, all day, everyday. Its a real public emergency, and I’m not quite sure why PDJT picks on us as a massive source of it. Either way, society is a mess these days, and most of it is because of the left and its policy’s, on both sides of our shared border.
You make an important point, Arlan, about the words we speak. For example, if we choose to find fault with another person and then gossip about him/her, aka “trash talk,” we are in essence giving permission for the person to whom we trash-talked to join in the gossip with us. It’s an encouragement, a temptation, to them to sin; it’s really quite vicious and can spread like a fire to others.
It is not a matter of tolerating you . We really NEED your input !!!! This type of debate helps keep Americans grounded with a bit of perspective from outside our Yankee bubble .
It’s enough to drive a man to drink!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is this why the markets tanked again today? People with 401k’s and retirees with investment income are getting tired of this, I know I am.
What goes down will rise again. I’ll take a haircut for my kids and grandkids, and yours, if they are worthy. The portfolios we have were built on funny money. We got fat, dumb and happy. Just my afternoon thoughts.
I agree. When our taxes and retirement funds are heavily invested in the Blackrock neocon war machine and one world economic reset, I’ll take a “haircut” any day. No more blood money. It is long overdue.

MAGA is settling in. Markets are rethinking investment strategies from foreign to domestic as the manufacturing comes home again. Stocks are selling in some areas and being bought in others. The short term will have some pain but the long term gains are huge. Give it time, we’re just two months into this tectonic shift.
While I’m no great fan of what’s happening since my 401a is going down, I’m also getting more shares purchased with the consistent $1100/month deposited.
Look to the long run. There will always be ups and downs.

I am reminded that when the EU was first established it held a cumulative GNP on par with the USA. Then, they instituted all their regulations, laws, taxes, penalties and agenda driven nonsense. Now, the EU’s GNP is about half of the USA’s. There’s a lesson to be learned.
Do you think that President Trump is using tariffs as a ‘get back at’ or something to that effect? Listen to him and you’d understand. Years we have suffered through other countries geing the better from us. Now, he just wants to use tariffs receive some of what we’ve done for others work for us.
He’s forcing them to the table to renegotiate deals.

Great book. I have one of the last winning bottles of the Stags Leap Cab.
Maybe the EU should be hit with tariffs high enough that the U.S. can start collecting back for all the decades of preferential treatment Europe got from the Marshall Plan right up to now? See how they like that. It might have been fine 70 years ago, but less and less right in the decades following. It should have been ended long ago and the U.S. has been getting the shaft for way too long.
D One,
Effectively, thats whats happening. Because it went on, so long after there should have been an adjustment, the Europeans whole economies, and decisions on Govt. spending were distorted by them knowing they had, effectively this flood of our money.
Its like a typical lower/middle class citisen, winning the lottery and the pay off is $3000/mo. for life.
Knowing he has that $, how he spends will change.
The EU countries have great infrastructure, no crumbling roads or bridges, and they have a month of days off, a full pension at 55, that was ‘financed’ by our trade deficit, and their lack of military spending (depending on us.)
As President Trump forces them to contribute to NATO, and uses reciprocal tariffs to cut off their supply of easy $, and they get their own “rustbelt” with Mercedes, Siemens and others moving factories here, the Govt. will be forced to cut back on their programs, and the people will be pissed.
Regime change is highly likely, with alt-right parties making gains…

I visit the Bordeaux region as my sister lives there. It’s beautiful and they have great wines. I notice some of the vineyards are laying fallow. Many are left to nature. I guess because it’s very labor intensive even with the modern machines. Chinese are buying the chateaux. (They love the turrets). It’s sad to see.
Macron needs to go.
I enjoy American wines and will support American vintners.
Champagnes in the USA are made by the same method “Champagne” is made. Just not in the Champagne area.
When going to France I will enjoy their wines.
Macron still needs to go. 🍷 🥂
sad reality is, the Communist Chinese are buying up huge amounts of American land and American companies too. Some of it is under the radar where the Chi-Comms are buried under a front company appearing to be legit, but it’s happening here in spades.

For the record, a Texan named Thomas Volney Munson discovered a wild species of mustang grape along the banks of the Red River and ultimately developed more than 300 varieties. He is credited with saving the French wine industry in the 19th century.
Three grapevine species native to Texas were found thriving in poor soil conditions. Through grafting European vines to the phylloxera-resistant Texas rootstock, Munson replenished French vineyards wiped out by an epidemic.
So, yes, proceed with the tariff.
MAGA
Very interesting bit of history, JFM! I did not know that…. (I also don’t like French wine).
You guys should seriously start making some of your own wine. It’s a really fun hobby, but just make sure you know what you’re doing. I have been known to blow up a few kitchen cabinets when I wasn’t following all the rules.
Peach wine is AWESOME, quick and simple from scratch if you use Lalvin Wine Yeast EC-1118.
Even for a non-drinker, peach wine sounds delightful! Thank you for sharing!
EC-1118 is terminal at 18% (36 proof), and the optimal temperture is indoor-house.
After the first fermentation is done, you can add a bit of sugar to boost the proof a bit more, leave a residual sweet, and bottle/cork for sparkling.
Peach is great in one month, apple needs six, and pear over a year.
I was actually contemplating attempting making my own wine….
Take precautions. One year my grandfather’s homemade wine that he made in our basement poisoned him.
I don’t know the particulars but remember the smell of fermenting grapes that were grown in our inner city backyard.
When I’d go down to the cellar to put a load of laundry in I got intoxicated from the fumes…
Do it! Start with a Southern Peach Wine recipe (or apples) so your first attempt is a sucess.
My bragging rights are my GFLL wines: grapefruit, lemon, lime. Tastes like lemon-drop. That is very difficult, and I ain’t giving away my secrets for that.
My pizza wine experiments never turned out well.
Hah, tried it as a kid. Put welches grape juice, in an empty gallon wine bottle, put in some yeast, sealed the lid, and put it away for 2 weeks or so.
My dad and I carefully brought it out, and opened the sealed lid…it went “whump” which nearly had us messing our drawers, and the empty area in the top of the bottle, filled with smoke,..that came wafting out and dissipated…lol.
It wasn’t great, but it definetly wasn’t horrible! I was maybe 12-13?
Haha!!
A memory of the power of fermentation:
The place is the sleepy hamlet of Shenorock, NY.
The time:
Summer 1964.
When I was 10, my sister and I were playing in our grandparents back porch, which was enclosed, with jalousie windows.
Grandpa had put 2 gallon-sized glass jugs of Apple Cider in a corner.
It was summer. The sunlight came through the glass windows (which must’ve acted like a magnifying glass) – when, all of a sudden,
Whoooommpphh!!!!
Glass and cider
everywhere… and 2 spooked little kids.
No one hurt.
Grandpa didn’t put any more jugs on the porch.
I’m loving all of these stories from all of you wine makers and your interesting experiments and successes. I’ve LOL’d all through them!!
Blackberry wine exploding in the top cabinet can make quite a mess.
Do the initial ferment with an air-lock. Either bottle after dry, or understand *exactly* how much sugar to add to bottle for sparkling, and use bottles rated for the “volumes of CO2” for sparkling.
“Contains Sulfites” = used sulfite to stop fermentation before either “dry” or “terminal.”
Thanks for that very interesting tidbit of history!
So Texas saved French Vineyards.
Keanu Reeves starred in a film ‘A Walk in the Clouds’ that takes place in a California Vineyard.
Revealing look at the effort and patience needed to succeed in such an endeavor.
Rand Paul says, “I’m not in favor of tariffs. You know what happened today is very bad for my state.”
No, shit, Rand. How easily you fold when POTUS takes a “principled stance.” You always portray yourself as brave while calling other politicians meek, your word for “cowardly” and right away, you fold.”
He’s such a panty waist, can’t stand him anymore. He’s not who I expected him to be.
He’s not his dad.
Artificial Scarcity……
In 2023, France faced a wine surplus, prompting the government to allocate funds to destroy excess wine, with the alcohol used for other products, and to uproot vineyards, due to a combination of factors including changed drinking habits and the effects of the pandemic
Hmm, while we all say “Who needs or drinks french wines” the reality is, there are a bunch of wealthy people in this country, for whom its a status symbol to have french wines at their parties and weddings…and they won’t be buying, any more.
Which means, Worldwide (outside the U.S.) an increase in supply,…supply and demand, ..they not only lose revenue from the U.S., but the price they get elsewhere goes down…
Has macaroon caved, yet? If he has any, his nuts are in a vice.
Ingraham right now interviewing JD, who is doing a great job of explaining why POTUS is doing that and is reminding everyone how the EU doesn’t give a damn about fairness and how TRump is fighting for people like those in his home state.
French wines are highly overrated and overpriced in the US. French winemakers get a guaranteed minimum price for for every bottle they produce. So as long as it’s made from grapes and contains alcohol, it is sold a wine. Even when it tastes like vinigar.
France does produces good wines, but also undrinkable stuff.
US wines are not subsidised, so wineries have to produce quality. We love Gallo wines. Especially the Chardonnay and Merlot. They are sold for €6 a bottle here in Europe. A compareable French wine is at least €12.
PDJT has found the right approach by raising importduties on specific products like wine. By doing that you can hurt specific EU countries, like France in this case.
“What’s the word? Thunderbird. How’s it sold? Good and cold. What’s the jive? Bird’s alive. What’s the price? Thirty twice.”

The average tariff rate for US products entering the EU is around 3.95%, while for EU products entering the US, the average tariff rate is around 3.5%.
Maybe Trump should start talking about the EU being a US State.
He claimed that again today about Canada, except that Canada isn’t applying to be a US State, and can’t because it’s a separate nation.
When are DC, Guam and Puerto Rico becoming US states? They actually applied for it.
No!
I listen to European podcasters on occasion, they love Trump. One said recently after Peter Navarro confronted a Sky News reporter provocateur , “I wish our politicians had balls like Trump’s new administration.”
Comparative – the EU exports about 12 billion in booze to the USA.
The USA exports about 1.5 billion in booze to the EU.
So Trump is taxing Americans who buy the EU booze with counter tariffs.
The EU is taxing its citizens who buy the American booze with tariffs.
At some point, Trump knows that the FROGs (or are they now the WOGs?) will be waving The White Flag.
My favorite is Carlo Rossi Burgundy in the gallon jug. From Modesto, California.
They forget America is self sustaining, we don’t need them, they need us. Trump can afford to play the long game, they can’t.
I just want to present the flip side (Democrat progressive) of this conversation I saw earlier. Read the comments. I guarantee a lot of these people lost jobs, or saw their parents or grandparents lose jobs, with NAFTA. But now they are literally hooked on the junk from China. I voted for PDJT to flip the tables of the money changers and whip them out of temple, so to speak. I accepted that it would likely be a fight, and I don’t enter fights not expecting to get hit. There has to be an economic reset in this country or we are as the kids say, cooked.
Also, doesn’t this help Devon Nunes? Not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation. Also, will this mean I’ll actually find bourbons I like on American shelves?
President Trump is a genius.
we need a resolution to name them American Fry’s again
Main ingredient …….grapes can you grow them………. if so you got game…. after some time it’s academic…..for the most part wine (quality) is all about advertising
We were talking about our president and tariffs. Then — did someone mention alcohol?!!
Suddenly the Conservative Treehouse branches are chirping ablaze with discussions of wine and wine tastes, and wine making. Most have their tastes and habits pretty well entrenched.
Whiskey? Mentioned a little. Seems most MAGA treepers are abstainers, or unconcerned as to what happens in the market — Either because they don’t care because it doesn’t make a difference, or because there are always nearby sources at hand — from scratch if needed.
Did someone mention Donald or wars or nuclear bombs?
Most drink American alcohol so are not concerned with European tariffs. I myself drink only domestic, beer and wine, and while I drink very little of it (because I love it and would be an alcoholic if I drank more) I do drink bourbon, only the real stuff, it has to come from four counties in Kentucky on the Ohio river or I don’t drink it. I also prefer the 100 proof to the 80 proof, on the rocks of course. I am talking about 6 drinks a year, usually around the Christmas/New Year holidays. I do also use bourbon in cooking, but the alcohol cooks off when you do that, it is only for the flavors. You shoudl try grilled bourbon chicken if you have never had it.
Okay! 😀
They laughed when Australia got into the wine business. Now there are wines from just about every country with a reasonable climate.
It is so enjoyable knowing that our leader has so often outplayed the foreign leaders.
Those poor fools eventually learn that they either play nice with PJDT, or they take their mahbles & go home all the worse for wear & tear.

I expect Macron and EU to cave and to cave FAST. MANY of you pointed out the great wines we have here. That’s the problem France has—plenty of great wines around the world. If people find new favorites, the old favorites and tastes could shift. Once that happens, market share is lost and it doesn’t comeback easily. Then the tariffs don’t matter much.
many of you mentioned wines in California, Oregon, Washington and New York. Yes, they may be good, but those states are as much of the problem as the EU with their Marxist ideology. I’m not sure we should be rewarding them. But, that’s another story.
