American troops, ships and planes are being sent over there. We just had the terrible storm in the southern states – and a huge labor strike began this morning at our ports along the Gulf Coast. There is certainly nothing wrong with a little commonsense preparation.
When WW2 broke out in Europe in 1939, a few people had been laying away some canned goods and everyday useful things. Some people laughed at them for doing that. Some thought, don’t worry we will be fine, the Govt will take care of everything.
The Govt did it’s best with food provision by rationing…. and rations were very strict…. Spartan even.
Or some lived in a dream world and said derisively, Hitler won’t invade us! But the ones that put away so me canned food., and dry food like Pasta, flour and rice beans never regretted it. (But the canned food became very precious.)
My mother used to say ‘Oh if only I had bought a few extra things for the pantry’, and other useful items , odds and ends. Don’t forget things can be traded, and were. Those with gardens ‘dug for victory and thank God for the few potatoes we produced and practically lived on. Everything was rationed and scarce.
My father (who worked for the Air Ministry,) knew what was ahead and was as also ahead of the prep game and was digging our air raid shelter well before 1939. ( A pit in the back yard with sandbags supporter by a frame.) We had a greenhouse(small) and for a while we were able to grow tomatoes.
It was a difficult time but the men in our family came back okay, no serious injuries, except one uncle, who was in the RAF and lost an eye. He was just a kid. We had them in the army, in the desert fighting Rommel, in a Highland regiment, they went into battle with bagpipes and wearing kilts. . Another uncle was,in the Royal navy, mostly in the Mediterranean, on many different vessels nd some time in a submarine. and a couple in the infantry.
It is very dangerous for idiots in power to play at threatening war, for whatever the reason. Look at the incompetent so-called Leaders in the world today. War in today’s world is unthinkable as it is likely to be Nuclear. Perhaps no one will survive.
However, if it comes , we must always defend ourselves. There is so much evil in the world it might not be as unlikely as it may have seemed before the last few destructive years.
There are all kinds of emergencies and one should bear that in mind. Sometimes a war is coming and sometimes its a storm of an earthquake, but it doesn’t hurt to have some extras put by just in case.
We know about the End Times (we are so fortunate) and we trust God to take care of us (as people also prayed in WW2 air-raid shelters, when Nazi bombers were dropping bombs ) We have some advance knowledge the people did not have when WW2 started.
God does not lie, and what He said will happen . will indeed happen, in His time and in His way.

I was so shocked to hear that as soon as waters partially receded in NC, stores were filled with customers needing food.
Not all of these individuals list their supplies to flood…. they had no shelf stable food or supplies on hand.
Remember to always have some cash on hand, in small denominations because if the grid collapsed for whatever reason, there will be no functioning ATMs and your debit and charge cards won’t be usable.

Not really AP. 🙂 Actually Tulip luncheon meat made in Denmark is better, I think. The Danes are known for their excellent bacon and pork products. In the wartime Spam was a rare treat. as any meat products/protein items were.
A lot of the food that was normally imported was very hard to get , the brave merchant navy did their best. Many seamen died being torpedoed by German U boats trying to get food ( and munitions) to Great Britain . Russia was in great need too. They had little food ad the UK tried to help them a bit, tried to share a little of what they had, but Russian people needed a lot for their army and their civiliansand we hardly had enough or ourselves. So many died in Russia it was terrible.
A treat like spam would be rationed like everything else and a thin slice to everyone in the family would be dinner . accompanied by potatoes if you could get them. That Meat or one egg, to go with your potatoes was to give them flavour. Spam, when it was available was precious as it was a little slice of protein all was carefully shared.
The Monty Python group had grown up with this wartime childhood, and knew the in jokes. English people still like an egg with chips as it was what we mostly ate in the war. Chips with everything. ( no butter too precious ) they laugh at spam being everywhere in the skit, but a tin of that in wartime was a great thing to find available . in a store there was nothing like the choice we have nowadays. each store had a bit of this and that and looked after their own customers mostly.. The ration book that very one carried with them was the lifeline.
Put in a search engine’ British food rations during WW2′ or similar. There are lots of websites and you might be surprised at how limited it was.
A lot of kids had a very unusual childhood :-)) One game in the shelter in a back yard, or under a house, was to whistle along with the bombs as they fell, and clap when a bomb hit the ground or their target. We had gas masks we took everywhere with us, including to elementary school. We had very few toys or candy but somehow we had fun and I always felt loved and safe.

I think Iran just did the whole world a great favor. Committing a direct act of war against Israel gives Israel a free hand to retaliate.
That underground nuclear weapon development complex has to be right near the top of Israels target folders.
As I write this pictures of lines many miles long of Iranians trying to get gas are coming out. They are pretty darn sure that Iran’s oil fields are going to be at the top of the target list also. Taking away Iran’s nuclear weapons development and their primary source of income is something that’s got to happen!
It may make our gas prices spike here but that’s a small price to pay IMO.
