Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw: Secret Service was able to spot a rifle sticking out of the bushes and fired on the suspect some 300-400 yards away.
In the bushes where the suspect ran from, the Secret Service or law enforcement found an AK-47-style rifle with a scope, 2 backpacks that had ceramic tile at them, and a GoPro for taking photos.
Bradshaw also says he has photos of everything that they will release. Bradshaw: “Fortunately, we were able to locate a witness that came to us and said, “Hey, I saw the guy running out of the bushes, he jumped into a black Nissan, and I took a picture of the vehicle and the tags, which was great.” Said the Secret Service agent who spotted this and opened fire did a “fantastic job.”
Police ran the license plate, and they tracked the vehicle on 1-95. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office, alerted him, and they spotted the vehicle, pulled it over and detained the guy. The witness then identified the person that he saw running out of the bushes and jumped into the car.
Secret Service representative uttered this statement: He thanked the Palm Beach sheriff’s office and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office for their involvement. Former President Donald Trump is safe and unharmed following a protective incident shortly before 2 pm on Sunday at Trump International Golf Club at West Palm Beach. The U.S. Secret Service personnel opened fire on a gunman located near the property line. And this matter is under investigation.
The suspect wanted in connection to the gunshots fired near Trump National Golf Club has been caught, according to Martin County Sheriff William D. Snyder.

If you are going to quote the Sheriff, you might want to read what he actually said. He said because of the way security levels are determined is the reason there is less security detail for former Presidents than for sitting Presidents. The Sheriff also said that the level of Security will increase for President Trump as now it is clear that he has again been targeted.

GN, I assume you’re talking about the photos that were shown by the sheriff at the news conference. Yes, they were light on bushes — on the golf course side. Do you remember him talking about holes 5, 6 and 7? How those holes were bordered by two streets? Congress Ave and Summit Blvd?
I’ve researched and studied the layout of the golf course, with all the hole numbers. Hole 5, where I believe Trump was on the putting green at the time the SS agents spotted the rifle barrel sticking through the fence and shot at the assassin, is the farthest away from those two streets. Then Hole 6 goes down along Congress Ave (a multi-lane, very heavily-trafficked street), and doglegs around to the right a bit (with a big water hazard all along the right side of the fairway), where the green for Hole 6 is then very close to Summit Blvd., a smaller street than Congress, but with two lanes each direction.
Hole 7’s tee box is also very close to Summit, but the fairway goes back towards Hole 5, along the other side of the water hazard from Hole 6, and the green for 7 is in between the greens for holes 5 and 6. Here’s a Google maps link showing the golf course. You’ll see the 3 holes I’m talking about on the very far right-hand side, in the little “boxy” area of the layout.

So then I studied some Google street views, and also have seen a couple of photos showing the FBI folks “working” on the investigation, with their crime scene tape and parked vehicles. There’s plenty of places that Routh could have parked on the other side of Summit from the golf course. There’s a big shopping center, and lots of parking areas. There’s huge palm trees all along the golf-course side of Summit, and 10-12′ high, thick-as-shjt bushes between the palm trees and the golf-course fence. You cannot see the golf course whatsoever from Summit.
On the golf-course side of the perimeter fence are more bushes, and then the golf-cart path for Hole 6, then a row of fairly large trees between the path and the green. From the street views I looked at, as well as the media photos of the FBI working outside the fence, it looks like Routh had secreted himself between the thick bushes and the fence, where he couldn’t be seen, but where he’d have an easy-as-pie shot at Trump while he was on the hole 6 green.
The paperwork filed in court to have him kept locked up says that they tracked his T-Mobile cell-phone data, and discovered that he’d first gone to his hidden spot at about 2:00 in the morning. He’d been there almost 12 hours. They even found a black bag with some food in it. He’d been “camping” there, waiting, until Trump showed up.
Of course, if they have that data, they also have the data from all the time before that. It will be interesting to see what they disclose about that.
My bet is that he was also dressed in full camo’s, and that he ditched them somewhere along his 50 F’G MILE GETAWAY route into the next county, while driving his DAUGHTER’S SUV WITH A STOLEN LICENSE PLATE ON IT.
I’ll bet it was pure luck that the SS agent saw the rifle barrel sticking through the fence, probably as he was walking along the golfcart path towards the green, but he may have been tipped off by the two ceramic-tile-filled black bags that had been hung on the fence by Routh for “protection.” Something that out-of-the-ordinary would be out of place for that spot.
Trump told Hannity he heard a “pop, pop”, and then he heard another “pop, pop.” That would be the SS agent or agents taking their shots at Routh in the bushes. But they missed, so then he ran. Right out through the thick bushes, past the palm trees, across Summit and into his waiting vehicle. Somebody saw him running (he left the gun and all his shjt behind), and speed away. Took a photo of the vehicle and license plate, and that’s how they found him 50 F’G MILES LATER.
I’m developing many theories, clearly involving third-party involvement, but will wait for a few more clues to come out.

I want to know more about how the assassin got his weapon. Hawaii has very strict gun laws. It looks to me to be a SKS rifle with a 30 round duckbill magazine in a synthetic monte carlo stock. When I read SKS in your post i thought Naw. Nobody would be stupid enough to use a SKS for a long range shot. But after looking at the pictures released of the rifle up against the fence I have to say, it does resemble a SKS more than an AK.

But using a SKS on a 500 yard shot? The SKS was designed for 300 yards and under. It is a battle rifle Made to put a bullet somewhere in the torso of a man at 300 yards in battle conditions.. After 300 yards the bullet fired from the gun drops like a rock. I have shot SKS. They are a good reliable weapon, but they are not a long range sniper rifle. Having visited thousands of homes and talking with residents as a tax assessor, I have some expertise in judging what I see in these photos.
It appears to be a rental home with 2 driveways, 2 stairs, 2 e-meters,and 2 entrances. It also appears to be unkept with roof edge deterioration, windows need paint, stucco problems, and skirting deterioration. Could be landlords problem but if he is a construction worker, he chooses to live there and his work ethic may be reflected in the condition we see.
The guy supposedly is part owner of a construction company but his work truck shows no sign that the guy makes any money. I see a broken tail light and general lack of organization in the truck bed.
The pictures of this guy show some weirdly bad teeth and a gaunt look that screams drug use, obvious mental issues, or some problem with not eating or something causing the apparent lack of nutrition.
Looks like a typical Kaaawa house to me. Housing is expensive and it’s common to have multi-generation or rent out part of a home.

An FBI affidavit accompanying a criminal complaint shows how law enforcement officials, during their investigation, used his cellphone information to place him at the golf course from 1:59 a.m. Sunday until about 1:31 p.m.
His gun was illegally purchased.

…was charged with federal gun crimes, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of firearm with an obliterated serial number. Additional and more serious charges are likely to follow as federal prosecutors seek an indictment.
Trust the Sheriff. The rest- not so much.
Just read that it was last minute decision by Trump to play golf at that time. So…how did the would-be assailant know? He wasn’t camping out there so someone had to alert him to get to the golf course at that moment.
What’s with the reported ceramic tiles in backpacks? Is this a defense against incoming fire? Is this why he was able to run after SS fired on him?
Look at the last pic in Sundance’s main post. The ceramic tiles are attached to the fence with a narrow slit to shoot thru.
This would protect the shooters head area, lower body can be protected with Body armor.
But the thing that bothers me is. I cant find anywhere that says Routh fired his weapon. It seems all the shooting was done by SS. Then Routh ran away, leaving his nest nice and neat. If he did not fire and Trump was nowhere in his line of aim from his snipers nest. He cant be charged with Attempted assassination. There is no proof he was out to get President Trump. He could have been Flamingo hunting.
This is starting to small more and more like rotten fish.
Pointing a loaded and scoped semi-automatic rifle at Secret Service agents besides getting you shot will land you in federal prison for a long time!

There’s a closer side camera shot of that FBI dude when he was speaking and he had a lot of sweat on his forehead.
He doesn’t come off as law enforcement. I doubt that he wanted to be in the FBI when he was a kid. He looks more like a “Yale” grad who was recruited to be in law enforcement. And since working for the federal government is a high paying job…it’s all about the paycheck for this guy. That said, I assume he will say and do whatever it takes to keep his job.
I fear these attempts will escalate. They can’t get a bullet in him. What’s next?

I think the MSM is in full blown panic mode about this assassination attempt, because they are afraid the Demcommies will continue to agitate for taking out Trump. There is no way the MSM can cover for the Demcommies when they openly call for the elimination of Trump.
