Delivering remarks to the audience at the RNC Convention in Milwaukee Wisconsin, bandaged from a bullet wound to his right ear, President Trump accepted the nomination and gave a rousing speech following an attempted assassination on his life five days prior. You didn’t see the low inflation rates? The high wages? The low gas prices? No new wars? Widespread peace? A much more secure southern border?
As for the “snoozer” of a speech, his recollection of J13 led to misty eyes. It showed a different side of him.
The whole speech was not a snoozer, but not being able to stay awake until the end on the east coast makes it a snoozer, highlights and misty eyes notwithstanding. It was way, way, way too long and would have been more powerful if it had been much shorter. It was more campaign than convention speech.
I agree the speech was too long, but this is not due to planning by PDJT. Likely the RNC planners left too much time— but I think ALL of them have more than earned our patience, especially our beloved next POTUS.

That is not Trump’s fault. He doesn’t plan the schedule. We are dealing with fellow human beings in our national situation. PDJT AND his family AND his closest supporters have been through a lot. I think our patience is called for here.

Overall the speech was a 7/10. Very strong first half, weaker second. Some funny jokes that I found hilarious that others may not though. Lol. Probably 20 minutes too long but his rally speeches are often around 90 minutes.
However, I’m amazed he could even give a 92 minute speech mere days after being millimeters from death and having a bunch of Secret Service jump on top of him.
I would still be suffering severe PTSD and not in very good shape just 5 days after an event like that.

My personal opinion of Melania has gone to the bottom of the barrel, its so obvious she hates this, so why not just find a way out and speak the truth. I’m embarassed for Trump. Ivanka I could not care less about, she showed up in white with unity for her liberal leanings. Tiffany surprised me with white. Don Jr had on a purple tie. They do not seem to understand the optics and know what the colors are associated with.

Retired Magistrate here: I thought it was a great speech. No, it didn’t start out slow; it started out with President Trump telling what is was like to be almost killed and surviving. Then he thanked people and then he gave a broad overview about what he wants for our country.
To me it was amazing that he could speak that long after the trauma that he went through. Remember, he just wasn’t shot he was tackled by the Secret Service. Notice how he was moving slowly and his gait wasn’t quite right. He was in pain from the attempted assassination.
As for Vance, we will see. I still think that President Trump saw something in Vance that reminds President Trump of himself when he was younger; someone that he can mold. All I can say is that here in Ohio he has done a good job and yes I read Sundance’s article about Vance. I keep reminding myself that GOD is in control and GOD saved President Trump for a reason.

We were surprised at the speech: how it was far too long, rambling, and loaded with stuff that isn’t really relevant to the moment at hand.
The discussion of the assassination attempt should had been brief, somber, and even somewhat detached. It also should have tended to be more about the others involved. As this segment dragged on and on we were practically yelling at the TV screen to get to the substantial stuff.
When Trump got around to some specifics about foreign policy and domestic plans things got better. Now, we understand that convention speeches should not be technical briefings, but the substantive parts of the speech could have probably been fit into little more than a half-hour.
Yes, a convention is all showmanship and spectacle, but the important thing about Trump is what he actually does.
We needed to hear more of that.
Let’s see how you do 5 days after being shot. I enjoyed every minute of it. He came across as more humble and introspective than usual and I think that is a good thing.

I think you need to look at your expectations. Let’s see how well you do under the same circumstances, having been dragged through courts, having been shot, then tackled by SS and hustled into a car. As far as the length of the speech, it’s someone in RNC who plans the schedule, not PDJT. And he DID talk about what he does, and what he did.
I watched his speech this morning. I wasn’t able to stay up to watch it last night…My first opinion of DJT last night, is that he’s completely, emotionally exausted…After Saturdays attempt on his life, he had to go right into the RNC convention. Clearly it’s tired him emotionally and physically…He needs a couple of days to rest and regroup. Will he?…I think he must…But his sense of realisim, humanity, political awareness, purpose, as well his sense of humor are still alive and well….Buckle up, it’s gonna be a long 3+ months.

It was a marvelous speech. It energized me for the day ahead. What a leader! Loved.

at first, he was facing the trauma.
how difficult it must be to relay your attempted, and VERY nearly successful, attempted murder – in public?
but he knew we needed to hear it FROM HIM.
“i could see the people ” he said. “i was down and i could see the people”.
THAT was the moment he determined to get up and raise his fist for us.
his grief over the firefighter’s death was palpable.
he is not responsible for it, but i think he will carry it with him always.
in the next portion of the speech, he was finding his way back past the nightmare.
slowly he worked his way to the campaign themes.
then, as he integrated the trauma into what needs to be done to MAGA,
you could see him becoming whole again.
his voice and demeanor got stronger and stronger, until he had returned to the PT of yore…plus more!
absolutely riveting.
yes, it was long, but it accomplished in 90 minutes what some might NEVER overcome.

First I must say President Trump is a very brave man who has looked death in the eye and like any mortal soul has given pause as to life and its meaning. I found him somewhat subdued and in view of the immediate past, that is quite understandable. He like any other will have to reflect upon what has occurred and from there begin anew. What springs forth from this earth shaking event only God knows but I expect some new curveballs to materialize in the coming future that will not only energize his followers but befuddle his enemies as well. As an aside, I found the entire process last night a bit tedious and prolonged, but as it is a circus of sorts, to be expected. Personally I think he should take a siesta for a week and recharge his mojo battery. Too much too quickly, a respite is absolutely warranted.
I was glued to the screen as President Trump recounted that event.. he was too hunble… he said he wasn’t supposed to be here… he said it was the Grace of God Almighty that saved him..
