When I first heard of this, I thought it was a stupid spoof. It is not. It is real.
Keep in mind, in order for this to be in the print version of the Senate bill, the Senate Armed Services Committee had to vote to approve it. Repeat that sentence if needed. The Senate Armed Service Committee, meaning every member on that committee, had to support the change to make women register for the draft.
Look at the GOP MEMBERS OF THE SENATE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE HERE – Rob Wicker (Mississippi), Deb Fischer (Nebraska), Tom Cotton (Arkansas), Mike Rounds (South Dakota), Jodi Ernst (Iowa), Dan Sullivan (Alaska), Kevin Cramer (North Dakota), Rick Scott (Florida), Tommy Tuberville (Alabama), Markwayne Mullin (Oklahoma), Ted Budd (North Carolina) and Eric Schmitt (Missouri) are all members of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
How many of these idiots are going to try and run away from their construct by saying they didn’t know this was in there?

Does it per chance say something about being pregnant would grant a, renewable, deferment up to the child being a certain age?
In one step, they could have pretty much guaranteed a huge decrease in abortions and a large increase in live births when a draft is called.
Never liked Sen Rick Scott to begin with but he did get my vote last time, never again after this BS vote. His children are older but what about the rest?

But,with the DoD now having an annual budget of some 900 billion a year, chances are selective serbice will never be used, too many volunteers, mercenaries, private military companies, OCP/OSCORP/STARK industries technogoodies, be a long time ’til they work around to draft cards, and with new hyperduper MIRV missiles, the big war might be over before it starts. Then, the battle for individual/family survival begins. Just you, the other survivors, and the rats…may that day never come.

The military can’t get enough people to volunteer because of various reasons.
People can find a much better job.

Although I agree with the sentiment “no serious country” I am compelled to comment that this unseriousness is now a global infection. The year 2000 was perhaps the most unserious year in the history of man. More than two decades on the dangers have become very serious but much of the world is still lead by very unserious people. Elizabeth Warren chairwoman and Republican co chairman did NOT mention what they had included to draft women in one of the 36 ammendments the committe adopted but did nt mention anything about.
Warren and the other committe members hid the information about drafting women in this video and also have changed the infomration in the 2024 ndaa executive summary pdf on the armed-services.senate.gov web page.
