Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

I used to be an avid ground hog hunter. Where I live, they are destructive pests that can cause thousands of dollars of damage almost overnight. If you think mice and squirrels are bad, imagine if they were as big as groundhogs.
We call them whistle pigs because their call sounds like a shrill whistle. It also leads to their demise. If a groundhog is running to its burrow, a shrill whistle from the hunter will often stop the groundhog in its tracks. It will then raise up on its hind legs to see what whistled. The hunter has but a moment to shoot, but that is all it takes.
Most hunters use a varmint setup for groundhogs. High velocity, small caliber with a heavy barrel and good scope. Most of the shots will be beyond 200 yards at a fairly small target of about 3 x 5 inches kill zone. The easiest was is to hunt in teams, two people in a vehicle with one driving and the other spotting. If one was spotted in a field, the vehicle would be stopped, and the person on the side opposite the ground hog would exit the vehicle, take a rest on the sandbags already on the hood while the other spotted. Once shot, the kill would be confirmed and often the deceased hog would be hung over a fence or tree limb. This served several purposes. The farmer would know there had been a kill so he could check the field for hole that might damage a tractor. It marked the spot as one that might be a place for other hunters to slow down and look and it prevented dogs from dragging up the decaying carcass to the house.
I once had a 1975 Chevy Blazer. I removed the back seat and turned it around backwards so it faced out the back window. The hunter would sit in the back and we would drive around with the back window down. If a hog was spotted, I would stop the vehicle, back up towards the hog, and the shooter would take a rest and shoot without ever leaving the vehicle. It was quite efficient. Using these two methods, we could sometimes shoot 15 or more hogs in a day of hunting.
When I hunted by myself, I used a scoped Thompson Contender in .222 Remington. I would walk the fields and fence rows where I knew I might find a hog out. If I spotted one, he would generally be out of range. I would walk closer very slowly trying to get in range. With the handgun, 100 yards with a rest was about the best I could do. I tried to get within 50. They would nearly always escape into their burrow, but that is okay. They are insanely curious creatures and in a few minutes they would peek out. I could only see their nose so no center mass, but that was generally all I needed. I still use that setup, but now I sit in a folding chair with a soft drink while waiting. Most of the hogs I hunt now are are around the barns.
I remember one that escaped into the hole, so I waited. After about 5 minutes, I saw his nose. I slowly and quietly raised the gun to shoot and he was spooked and hid. I found a good rest, aimed at the hole and waited. Eventually he peeked out again. I pulled the hammer back on the Thompson and “CLICK” he was gone again. I opened and closed the action to reset the firing mechanism, took the rest, and cocked the Thompson being careful to not touch the very light 2 pound trigger. Once again, he peeked out for the last time and I finished him.
Groundhogs are actually good to eat if it is a young one. They are not particularly gamy. One day at high school a friend asked me if I would come to supper with his family. Sure and I asked what are we having. It was a surprise he said. When dinner was served, mom pulled out a roasting pan with a whole groundhog roasted with a sweet glaze and surrounded by potatoes and onions. Yum.
Thanks! Gave me some ideas 😊
Good Morning Vibeman!
Most interesting, VibeMan! We have hogs around here that cause a lot of damage but they are of the feral kind. 🐖
We used to take a yearly trip to a ranch near Van Horn in West Texas that was about 30,000 acres. It had several large prairie dog towns. We would cruise around in our side by sides that we had installed some makeshift rifle rests and park about 200 yards from the towns and glass them looking for the little rascals. It takes a second to adjust eyes but then you start to see them running around from hole to hole and some just laying out in the open sun. Usually 6 of us and we would shoot about 25-30 a day.
There was a mountain range on that ranch called the Sierra Diablo mountains and it had a mountain called Diablo peak that was about 6,800′ to the top. We used to creep to the top of it (major pucker factor) and from there you could see Bezos Blue Origin facility and also see Texas highest peak “Guadalupe Peak” The ranch was well maintained and had several large concrete water tanks the biggest one was 8′ tall and 30′ diameter that fed many water stations throughout the ranch. One of these tanks had a deck built around it and was an excellent swimming hole. They had mini windmills that when they turned they pumped air into the tank through a rubber hose so the water was always fresh and clear. There were also some caves that were high on the face of some of the bluffs that the University of Texas documented human inhabitants going back thousands of years, we explored a few but it was a strict rule not to pick up anything or to dig around.
One time 4 of us in a pick up closed in on a finger of a high peak and we ran face to face into a herd of Bighorn Sheep, we had them pinned against a 1,000 foot drop off. It was a standoff and we got some pictures that would impress any of the best wildlife magazines and photographers. I got out of the truck and was literally 35 yards from the biggest Bighorn Sheep I’ve ever seen. After a tense moment, the big guy got to nervous and and he led them as they skirted around us on the very edge of the drop, it was truly amazing and extremely rare occasion. The ranch owner was a very rich real estate guy from San Antonio and when he heard we had the pictures we got a “special invite” to the main house so he could make copies of them. He had a whisky collection that we got to sample some very rare and expensive whisky brands. The main house was an amazing stone structure itself with a stone wall around the property. Those pictures were important to him so he could show the TPWD that he had a population on his ranch and could possibly help him get hunting tags. I think those tags can be worth $75,000.00 each!
We also regularly saw antelope, mule deer and the blue quail were everywhere, also some rare and very dangerous rattlesnakes.
The bunk house was built in the late 19th century and it looked like something out of an old western movie. Sitting on the front porch you had a close up view of a mountain called Bighorn Mountain A typical day was up early for some bacon, deer sausage, biscuits and gravy and eggs then fix a gallon of your favorite beverage and snacks and head out all day cruising around, stopping to hunt, stop for a swim, cruise some more and then at dark head in for some jumbo ribeyes, more beverage and the ranch foreman named “Innocente” would play guitar and sing some mexican ballads around a large fire.
Also going thru Van Horn there is a restaurant called Chuy’s ( not the Austin franchise) that John Madden used to stop in as he traveled cross country between games in his bus / RV as he hated to fly. There is a special table in there with a chair with his name on it and we all had our pictures taken there. John mentioned this place during a couple of his NFL broadcasts.
Strange thing was after a few years of shooting the dogs we did that less and less and eventually the majority of the time was just exploring and shooting silhouette targets on a 1,000 yard range on the ranch.
The ranch sold and the new owners don’t allow this so its just a great memory now, being out in that part of Texas is something I’ll always cherish
This is a story straight out of “Yellowstone“. Now you know where the show’s idea of ranch culture comes from. Thanks for the telling.
Thanks Garrison, I always enjoy your posts
Addendum, the ranch foreman’s name was Evidencio Seijas, we called him Evi. I had forgotten. Also found this if you would like to see it

Looks like there were some major upgrades since we last went but you can see the main house and some of the older structures that were there when we went
You remind me of something some friends of mine did. There was a city water tower in the neighborhood that the local kids liked to climb the ladder and get up on the narrow catwalk. Every time they did, there was a woman in the neighborhood that would scream at them that should not be up there, she was going to call their mother, they would fall or whatever.
One time near Halloween, they took a scarecrow that they had in one of their yards and after climbing up the ladder, out of sight of the woman, they pulled the scarecrow up to the catwalk with ropes. They then went around and waited for the woman to appear.
When she same out screaming as usual. They went to the back side of the tower and threw off the scarecrow screaming “Ahhhhhhhhh!”
The woman went insane. She screeched and screamed. “Oh, no! Oh no! He’s dead.” She was in a panic and acting crazy. Suddenly she stopped and bent over. It looked like she was in pain. She slumped to the ground and was not moving.
This was suddenly not funny. The guys on the tower hustled down the ladder to check on what they had done. The approached the woman and she was not moving. They were afraid that they had caused her death. When they bent over to check on her, her eyes flew open and she said, “I hope you learned a lesson. Don’t ever do that again.” And they didn’t.
LOL, ZZ top did that during an encore at the Erwin Center in Austin back in the 80’s. They were playing LaGrange and all the sudden a spotlight lit up Dusty on the catwalk above. Then the light went back to the stage and then what appeared to be Dusty fell and landed on the stage. Everybody FREAKED out. Until Billy Gibbons while still playing walked over and kicked the dummy off the stage and then the spotlight went back up to the catwalk and Dusty was still up there. The place went crazy
Van Horn. Junction of US 90 and I 10. US 90 coming up the west side of Texas is an interesting drive.
At night 100s of white tail deer come out of the desert to graze on the grass along the shoulder of that road. And yes! I do mean hundreds.
Rah never seen that but it must be amazing sight. I enjoy your posts very much.
I’ll ramble on with another life story since its the OT and I’ve never told anyone this before.
My father, not my biological father but he was my father and Dad, was layed off by Chicago Bridge and Iron after 28 years, at that time he was a senior craneman. While he was married to my mom he worked in Birmingham Alabama. We lived there and my little brother was born there. After she left him we came back to Texas which was where they had originally met when he was stationed at Bergstrom AFB and I was barely a year old. It was quite a surprise to his family when their youngest came home married with a son, me. Anyway after a few years he transferred to a facility in Cordova Alabama. His last assignment was operating a gantry type crane over a slip on a tributary of the Black Warrior River near Cordova Alabama. My memory of the details may be off a little but I believe they made sections of hulls for Seawolf Class Submarines which then eventually made their way by barge to the gulf and then up to the east coast shipyards to be assembled and fitted with all the electronics and technical stuff that made the finished product. They made VHS videos to use in training other operators on how to achieve some of the picks he made. He was extremely proud to be a Cordova Submariner and a member of his union. He was devastated after they laid him off. After my mother divorced him it was all he had and he lived for it. He tried to go on and decided to try to be a long haul trucker, he evidently was getting training or schooling. I believe he wanted to travel the country and pass thru Texas to see his two sons. We believe something to do with his health caused him to be denied a license to achieve that occupation or finish the school. Maybe you would have an idea? We will never know.
The call came in at 3:00 Am from the Adamsville Alabama Police Department and he was gone. Me and my brother and our wives loaded up and headed east, when we arrived and went in the house it was not good. There were two Miller Lights in the fridge. We had many together over the years and there were two left. We searched for a note or a clue but could find none, on the dining room table were a bunch of brochures for careers in trucking. We contacted his best friend Bryson and told him and he came over and we talked and cried alot. We started planning the funeral and Bryson said he would get the pall bearers and let all the friends know what had happened. On the day of the funeral at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham there must have been 300 iron workers, operators and others he had worked with over the years,it was the biggest funeral I have ever seen in person. I think I shook hands with everyone of them as they all told me what a great guy and friend he was. They could not believe he was gone.
RIP Marvin Thomas Smith
I’ll never forget my Mom calling us up complaining about a ground hog in a tree. She thought it was a bear! I miss my Mom.
In my ranching days in Montana, we didn’t have groundhogs, but we had a plethora of ground squirrels, sometimes called prairie dogs. We liked to keep the population down as much as we could because rattlesnakes were attracted to them and we had more rattlesnakes than we wanted. I used a .22 Savage rifle my grandfather gave me when I was ten years old. He’d had it for years and I still have it today. It’s a great rifle. The best shot of my life was a head shot at over 200 yards on a squirrel coming out of his hole on the side of a hill, surely more luck than skill, but a great shot nonetheless. The squirrels lived in colonies and we lost more than one horse and bison when they would break a leg walking through one of these pests’ living areas. It seemed that no matter how many we’d kill the next day there would be just as many as their primary activity seems to be to breed. It surely was a great way for the younglings to learn to shoot though.
Animals breaking their legs in the holes was the main reason we were allowed to go on these hunts.
Ground hogs dug the sand out from under the concrete floor of the barn. Large steer walked across the concrete and the floor gave way. Poor critter was screaming, stuck half in and half out of the floor. Got a chain, tractor and gun ready. Thank God didn’t have to use the gun.
Had to bust all the concrete out by hand, wheelbarrow concrete out. Wheelbarrow new sand in. Pour a new floor.
I hate those huge rats!
Live traps, a little salad and a pellet gun.
We live rural but not in a huge ranch, pecan trees everywhere which means squirrels. Cute cuddly little fluffy rats. That eat holes in your house and chew the wires apart, gnaw all night on the rafters and destroy everything.
I raise cane Corsos, which are not really a squirrel dog but a wee bit of training and they hold their own. We kill every squirrel we see.
Two ground hogs wandered up and my dogs made quick work of them so no issues with them critters either.
Not that they bothered us, they just don’t run fast enough, or climb real fast.
In 1977 or so (+/-) “I’m not in love” was an an astonishingly sophisticated recording. When you listen to it you here the combination of great musicianship and remarkably skilled sound engineering. Here’s the music video video followed by a documentary video discussion how this famous song was actually produced. This is how musical magic gets made . . . 🙂
“Art for art’s sake” and I was a fan.
Life is a minestrone served up with parmensean cheese 🎵….
The Wall Street shuffle 🎵
Not for everyone’s taste but man they were awesome in concert.
Garrison, got my inspirational music to tackle something I’ve put off and I’ve got you to thank for it!
You’re awesome. You’re the greatest! Big grin. BIG BIG HUG! 🤗
Good morning, Cat! Hope you project cooperates and everything goes smoothly 🙂. Wifey and I are heading this morning to San Antonio to try and take care of a few things before the ice gets here. I cut my driving teeth on ice but boy, the San Antonio folks get really dangerous to be around when there’s a little bit of the frozen stuff on the road. But the wintry stuff is predicted to get here during the night.❤️
Blush . . . 🙂
So great to hear this again. How I used to listen over and over and get lost in it with headphones on.
The music so beautiful, the lyrics so charming.
Then to actually learn the secrets with a “Making of…” that I didn’t know existed until today!
Love how every one involved also was delighted and amazed. I was agreeing with everything.
Truly “astonishing” indeed.
THANKS FOR POSTING.
🙂
At first I thought, Hmm. I don’t know that song. Let me listen. Then the instrumentation started and I still didn’t recognize it but, wow, the sound was so smooth. Then, as soon as they started singing, Oh! I know that song! Loved to hear it again after so many decades and very interesting to hear the documentary about it.
Flyover…😘🥰
I’m now an official fox and fossils groupie. ❤️
What a discovery! Been listening to F&F for a half-hour and counting. They are incredible 😀
One of guitar playing’s Great Lessons is how seemingly simple riffs turn out to be not at all simple when you’re trying to learn t9 play them. They just sound simple because the original is being played by a real virtuoso. Trying to copy Stills is a great illustration of just how good a player he is. It’s a bit humbling.
Foxes and Fossils are pretty doggone good! 🙂
Does that include the Canadian Pantywaist Variant?
We’d checked into a hotel room in San Jose after a long trip from Texas. It was late, we were tired, we’d has some supper and were preparing for bed. My friend turned on the TV and suddenly our world transformed . . . MTV was on and we watched Queen make music history . . .
Garrison, you’re full of surprises! MTV AND Queen along with 10cc. Bet you were a closet rocker. 🤭 😉 ❤️
Alas my improvisational skills were never up to playing the jazz and blues rifs I would have loved to play. That said, I always thought Brian May’s solos on Bohemian made the song.
I was a Queen fan. As I remember Bohemian Rhapsody created a problem. Up until that point they would not do any music that could not be done live. It was a goal that every song recorded could be done live for the fans. BR required extensive editing and studio work and could not be duplicated with only four musicians. They decided to go with it anyway and BR made music history.
I was living in Britain when Freddy Mercury was in his last days. The coverage was nonstop. But as my life was and had been in transition for a few years, I had not listened to any of Queen’s music, so I was bemused by this. Such attention to his whereabouts and passing would have been afforded to only one other personage, oddly with the same name (title)…the Queen herself.
It was only much later I actually listened to their musical outpourings; and the one thing that hit me straight away was how wonderful their voices were together. Their musicality was astounding to my ear. I was hooked immediately. No wonder the news in Blighty on the man who was the soul of them was so intense. In hindsight, all became clear.
Good Morning Betsy!
Just teasingly saying… there seems to be quite a lot of closet rock fans here 😉
I think I already mentioned once that Dale and I got “fired” from doing the worship music for our monthly church gatherings for ‘Rocking it” too much. 😹
Seemy post to Betsy above for another devotional of Chuck Swindoll. Now, that’s some rocking…
Yes…it definitely was, G😊
True…the old is new again. Today’s generation don’t know what they missed. The best of times.
Good morning, Betsy! Heading to San Antonio this morning.
A beautiful one from Pastor Chuck.

Good morninf, GrandpaM!! Y’all stay safe in mad San Antonio.
I have just sat down with my cup of steaming milky coffee (Starbucks without the exorbitant $$$) and will now get my spiritual boost. Thank you💓
Morning Ya’ll 🙂
Seriously cool! Thanks for posting!
IMO jay and garrison are an awesome tag team today! Thanks and kisses to you both! ❤️
Good morning, jay!😊
Sweet dog knows how to share.
Because of their long association with humans, dogs probably have a better understanding of human emotions than any other animal. This shows in so many subtle ways. I think, as much as they can, dogs want to be as much like us as they can. This is something that makes good dogs so special. We are lucky to have good dogs around us.
You got a dog?
In the spirit of just one more, kinda sorta,
I’ve got a dog 🎵
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
That was great! I have five dogs and they helped raise our children and grand children. I also have five cats. They all get along. We love our four legged fur babies.
Our last dog ws Sweetie. She adopted me at a downtown restaurant’s patio— came home, the cats immediately accepted her, and then she decided that my wife would be her “work” (border collies need work). Sweetie rarely left her side; wherever she went that’s where Sweetie went. She left us a few years ago. I still miss her.
Ooohhhhhhhhh, yes, I think I remember you sharing about her not too long ago. Sorry for forgetting that. As soon as I read your post, it came back to me. I think it was when were talking about dogs, and breeds, and border collies, and Jon Katz….
Pure, unadulterated, uncensored, exuberance!!!!!!!!
One more. Different dog. Same unabashed joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, apparently, there’s a need for still one more. This time no leaves, but more Stella!
Nice, never trust somebody your dog don’t like, it might sound crazy but even if your dog is suspicious, you should be too.
Mungrel philosophy.
Hey! You stole my philosophy!
Mungrel tip: If your ever bush and wounded with an open flesh wound of any size let your dog lick the wound, the dog will have a breather and continue, encourage even.
All Mungrel breeds carry a natural antiseptic in their saliva, this prevents infection in initial stages from setting in and allows for blood to create a barrier from said infection.
Knowing this might save an arm or leg or your life.
Depending on your
situation.
Barkers eggs can protect from dingos while you make it to the nearest town 😊 !
Mungrel likes pats !
Howdy son, still haven’t had the little fella here. Haven’t forgotten about the computer thing. Probably won’t have him until sometime next week depending on how the ice thingy goes.
Cheers.
Hhoooo boy did that take me back.
When we kids got a cut or rubbed the skin off scratch, my Gram would tell us to let the dog lick it. Gram was from the ‘old country’ (Poland) and mom said she knew a lot about healing..
Funny how things like that stick with you – you just keep doing it with no memory of WHY you do it.
Hah – and you find yourself wondering why other people avoid being licked by their cats and dogs like it is poison.
Have a fun day Mungrel
Got two that resemble that remark 😉
All of our loved ones, must be from the same pack! And they don’t need batteries to sound off their alarm, and give good kisses too! ❤️
Mungrel hunts alone !
What is kiss ?
I have tounge !
Fix infection .
Fluffy tail gets stuck in Mungrel nostril snot !
Feral should trim tail !😁
To be continued.
Good morning Feral one.
Good Morning mungrel!
How’s the fleas biting? 😝
Don’t really understand ? “fleas biting” !
Do you mean my circus is trained , if so yes.
No fake smelly stuff for me ! Pure blood well trained fleas protect my fangs !
I’m not just a tail swipe you know 😝
In America, when someone passes a fisherman, they ask, how’s the fish biting? Or something like that.
Figured you might be trolling for a few new fleas to add to your circus 🎪 😝
In Aussie if somebody smells a fisherman we say ” Lucky Barstad ” !!!! 😜
In America that’s gross. Guess different countries, different standards 🤷♀️
You are absolutely right. We bred German Shorthaired Pointers for thirty years. They are great family and hunting dogs. There was several times when my dogs did not like a person and that was a good indication for us not to sell that person one of our dogs. We did not sell to anyone that was not going to have the dog as a house dog. These dogs loved their family and want to be with them. They are great with children.
Now the 2nd dog is Truly Fearless 😎

Good morning, Cat! Our Mungrel has found his safe place here on this thread, I am thrilled to say😊
Morning, Mungrel! Yes, after a few Canadian posts on this site where Dekester was MIA, he finally showed up, and he seems to be all right, cheering anti-Tru-dopeans along. He’s good for now. I must admit that in not seeing him, I became a bit concerned. His brother is experiencing some serious physical problems and I thought his absence might have something to do with that.
Like you, he’s a fighter, an ex -policeman with 32 years under his belt…and most important, a Glaswegian by birth. They don’t get any tougher than that…except for you, of course. Stay safe, M. I believe God Himself has your back.🙏💓. LBT, as always
EDIT!! Just alerted Dekester on the Canadian O’Toole Thread you’d asked after him.
Mornin’ M. , replied to you about the little fella up thread. I’ve been scanning the other threads but now that you mentioned it haven’t seen Dekester for a couple of days. But myself have been busy with projects and haven’t spent much time on the computer. Little guy is doing well, missed a couple of days of school and was happy about that.
I think the Revolution is on, just for now it is slow rolling.
Now ain’t this just special?

Howdy rah, special indeed, mandated special for all commie filth, death that is .
Great peice just got leaked in Dictator Dan’s provance, Seems that the real medical people wrote a report to the lefty government scum stating that masks, lockdowns and social distance crap won’t work.
The cited a hundred years of evidence in regards to viruses, this was at the very beginning of covidcon.
This was and is completely ignored, all the mandate crap along with all the other commie edits we after they received the real science.
Scum the lot.
Pockets of resistance are expanding.
Keep on Truckin.
Look for much more of this, rah. How many more before the math adds up for these people?
For a little change of pace…. I was trying to find a good manual can opener and discovered the same discovery I have so often these day which is that everything is junk. Anyway, along my travels, I discovered a video about how to open a can without a can opener of any kind. All you need is a piece of cement. WAT???? Yes, indeed. Watch and learn. Ya’ never know when you might need to open a can in an emergency only to discover you got no can opener. You’re welcome!
PS I’m sure the two Russians who made this video are busy right now infiltrating the Canadian trucker convoy, but hopefully when they get back to their regular routine, they’ll post more videos that cover such things as how to dust everything in your house while sitting comfortably on your couch.
GM Sarah! Liked the video.
Here’s a can opener you might be impressed with. Made in USA and rugged as all get out. Kitchen tested, going strong after 40 years 😉
https://dvorsons.com/utensils/can_opener.html
Great!, FC. Been looking for good one made in USA. Had not seen this site before
Diolch
Tip -Shop around various sites for it. purchasing price varies. 😉
Thank you! Had not seen that one anywhere and Made in the USA on top of it! Gonna order that thing today and see how it goes. Really appreciate the Treeper Tip!
I liked the video. My only addition would be that between the cement and opening steps, I’d give the area a wipe over to remove any sharp fragments to prevent accidentally eating.
I actually quite like some of these survival videos. But in real life, I prefer to keep my comforts.
That is a great suggestion! Yeah, who needs metal shards in their food?! And, like you, while I enjoy prepper/survival videos, I like my comforts. But everyone’s gotta have an ER supply, in my opinion, and if you do, gotta make sure to have a reliable can opener. Or, I suppose, at least a piece of cement!
If you think this may be in your future, you could also practice now to make sure you’re prepared later ??

Mornin’ infidels.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

Grand Good Morning Treepers!
Good.morning, Frank. Almost done with your project I hope. It’s going to be brutal…I’m praying ERCOT has done their homework after they failed their course last year. Stay safe and warm.💓🙏
Mornin’ Frank. Last chance to get all our chores done before weather arrives.
Temps dropping precipitously now. We have a feral cat that I feed, the last of the many MANY litters we’ve had to catch.
We have an old couch in the garage which I keep purely because in the winter it gives some shelter and warmth. I’ve put old bath towels under to take the cold off the floor, plus a small bed for him to snuggle in. I have also thrown an old quilt over the couch and tucked it under the couch bottom to keep out the cold, and finally have put boxes, pack of paper towels, storage box lid around the outside of it to, again, keep the cold at bay.
Today, I have parked my car parallel and up close to the now shut garage door as a wind break. And we always leave the door open a crack at the bottom so he can get out and in while other creatures cannot, so I have rolled up another old quilt and blocked up that opening, along with other things like a piece of old guttering etc, so that there is a tiny spot left for him to go if he wants. Litter box also in the garage.
Phew!! It’s still cold in that garage, but not as much had I not done all this. The things we do for our four legged friends.
I do worry a LOT for His creatures all in weather such as we’ll be getting. And I absolutely worry for those who have no homes and are in need of warm shelter and sustenance.
So my prayer is that God will provide for and make a way for His creations, human or otherwise to be safe in his brutal weather to come.🙏
Amen.
I used to put a heating pad ( on low) in the garage for my outdoor cats….
Have a generator this time around, Betsy, so if the electricity goes out, come on over!
Diolch! What a good idea! 💓 I’m hoping it won’t be as bad as last year, especially as my freeze is full of my prep buying.🙏

My sister has covid and the MyFreeDoctor doesn’t appear to work anymore on the Medici app and their website always says they have reached their limit of patients. What is a good alternative? I counted on them as I had used them previously with great success. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

They list Nigella Sative as an Ivermectin alternative.
Try Dr. Syed Haider’s website, he’s in Austin. Start on his site. Good luck and God bless.

Thank you. Will do. And God bless all of you. I know I can always count on help here amongst the treepers.

What will you spend your life on today? It’s your day, call it anything you like but it’s all yours. Will you trade it for gold on earth or heaven?
if your life is treacherous and miserable try giving it away to another. Somewhere in the transaction it becomes gold for your future. Unless of course your goal is not heaven. I’m certain if you were to live a selfless life your destiny would open to heaven. I don’t think you can help another without Gods guidance, I believe we would screw up even the best intentions.
When you truly care, when love rules your decisions, you ask, pray and read Gods word for guidance. Myself, I look for leaders like that in our nation. When you pray and God enters the equation everyone wins if their intentions are righteous. We are in the situation we are in now because righteousness is not in the decisions. Righteous means knowing and doing what is right and only God knows what is right, he wrote it down in the manual.
At third stop waiting. I have one more stop. No way I make it home without a break.
I will be using my 16 hour exception just to get out of the Chicago area before parking to take my 10 hour break.
Is your waiting a function of the weather? Or of others for whatever reason.
In any event, that seems to be your lot this go round, rah. Just stay warm and safe. We are starting to get the front end of this next blast here in North Texas. Last year’s arctic encroachment decimated most of our landscaping. I’m just hoping what’s left is spared this time. Schools cancelled in anticipation of it. No bad thing.
On Gateway Pundit, Archbishop Vigano speaks. Powerful, as I’ve come to expect from this man of God, His servant on earth.🙏
Thanks betsy, I’ll be sure to check it out.
You’re welcome, Slowcobra😊
Betsy, Got a link?
No….I am no good at linking on my Kindle. But just go to Gateway Pundit and scroll, Leenie…it’s there. 👍

Hi ms Idaho! Enjoyed your latest chapter felt like a cliff hanger waiting with baited breath for your next written words. Smile
Saw you on another thread and noticed black ? Knight has returned. By any chance do you think the white puppy was a fluffy dog pup? Poster was on the same discussion I don’t remember where. And I thought of bluto. Bluto and fluffy were always good for a smile. the memory made me smile as well as seeing knight was back.
Anyway, looking forward to your next chapter. It’s kinda like getting tucked in and getting read a bedtime story. With dreams of Lucky bunnies hopping around. ❤️
Wow – thankx. I am never sure anyone is following our ‘moves’. I have the next one ready to go – will post it after our dinner 🙂
BlackKnightRides was someone I followed – then he (?) disappeared. Then yesterday – now gone again?
Some posters seem to have more information than others. Some (IMHO) just like to post. Most are interesting but hard to tell facts from speculation or opinion.
Facts are one thing – convulsive contusions are something else again. You can’t know until it happens (in the future) who really got it right.
Dunno about white puppy. Do remember Bluto
On the Road Again – that classic Willie Nelson song – fit Lucky and Doc to a tee.
Not just leaving Kansas – homeless and fancy free.
I don’t know how others would handle a situation like having no home and no job (in the traditional sense). Lucky and Doc put their household goods in storage, bought a trailer for the car, equipped the small motor home and hit the road. That entire summer was devoted to traveling around the United States ‘working’, camping and ‘interviewing’ for a future position. Lots of stops – cities included Cheyenne, Wy, Grand Junction Co, in the West and a small hospital in Ga (Doc wanted to visit his brother in Atlanta). Lucky was able to develop new clients as they went along the way.
A stop for gas along highway 70 thru the mountains in Colorado got exciting. Doc was inside paying for the gas when another vehicle drove off with the gas hose attached to the car. Fire ensued. Panic while the fire was put out (the camper and car were parked at the pumps). They had been listening to the Mormon Tabernacle choir. The song, as they safely headed back onto the highway: ‘Nearer my God to Thee’. That was one of those never-to-be-forgotten moments in time. Not yet – Not yet – they giggled.
Remember, Doc was working with a placement agency for Emergency Department coverage. Lucky and Doc ended up back in Wisconsin for the rest of the summer. They got to canoe on a small lake called Shawno. Someone took a pix and it ended up in the paper. No doubt about it – that was a summer to remember.
Winter was drawing nigh. What to do? Where to go?
A hospital that loved Doc was in Antigo, Wi. It is in that part of Northern Wisconsin that turns blue with small lakes. Then, as winter neared, there was an opening in Iron River Mi – in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The pay was good, the interview went well, Lucky and Doc found a lovely log cabin home (a local pastor built it for retirement and was renting it out) and best of all it was on a lake. Lucky and Doc moved in – and called for their household goods to be delivered. Home at last?
Thru that winter Doc traveled to a number of other hospitals to work. (Note to rah – driving in the UP and upper Wisconsin in winter is challenging to say the least.) His frequent trips to Antigo were greeted with pleas for him to move there. He kept saying ‘you’re not paying enough’. By spring of 1991 they decided they could ‘afford’ him – so another move … to another house on a lake.
If you are counting moves, how would you count the ‘moves’ in the camper thru the summer of 1990?
PS to this chapter: You have to love each other a lot to ‘live together’ in a 24 foot class C motor home.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
