Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

A sign from a sign.
I’ve had this song from long ago on my mind lately. When I saw your “sign” I thought this would be a good place to post it.

True Revival
By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam
In the days of Ezra the prophet, Israel was in much the same state as the Church today. Happily, however, some of the leaders became convicted that they had been neglecting the Word of God — especially that part which was addressed to them: the law of Moses.
As a result they built for Ezra a pulpit on which to stand and read the Scriptures to the people (Neh. 8:4). “From morning until midday” he read to them, while others mingled with the audience and “caused the people to understand.”
“So they read in the book, in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense,” with the result that “all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions [gifts], and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them” (Vers. 8,12).
Similarly, after our Lord had explained the Scriptures to the two disciples on the way to Emmaus, they said to each other:
“Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the Scriptures?” (Luke 24:32).
Well-meaning groups and individuals have for decades been praying in vain for a true spiritual revival in the Church, but the only sure road to revival is a renewed interest in the Bible, and especially in what God there says to us in the Epistles of Paul.
When we become convicted of our neglect of God’s Word to us as found in the Epistles of Paul; when men of God “study” to “rightly divide” the Word and begin teaching it from the pulpit, a great spiritual revival will inevitably follow but, alas, most of God’s people are too complacent, too satisfied with a shallow profession to enter into this blessed experience. However, as we study the Word of God for ourselves, and especially that part of His Word which applies particularly to us, we, like the Israelites of Ezra’s day, will experience the joy of understanding God’s love letter to us.

Nehemiah 8:4 And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
12 And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
“However, as we study the Word of God for ourselves, and especially that part of His Word which applies particularly to us, we, like the Israelites of Ezra’s day, will experience the joy of understanding God’s love letter to us.”
In what is believed to be his final epistle, Paul reminded Timothy of the value of abiding in things such as “the sacred writings” known by Timothy from childhood (cf. 2 Timothy 3:14-15). Near the end of his ministry, Paul affirms their “being able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus”.
It is notable that Paul then spoke of doctrine — variously translated as teaching or instruction (Gr. didaskalian, cf. Romans 15:4, Titus 2:10). Paul again pointed not to himself alone, but beyond his own words to further writings where salvation as well as instruction / doctrine and more can be found:
“Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for instruction (Gr. didaskalian), for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, having been fully equipped toward every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
I’ve always been a huge fan of Emmylou Harris. While in LA she was befriended by Linda Ronstadt who gave her advice about music and her career. Being a very smart woman, she paid attention. Along the way she had the good taste to hook up with producer Brian Ahern who was at the absolute top of his career. The first time I heard her “Blue Kentucky Girl” album I was just spellbound. Every single track was country and bluegrass perfection. Later I discovered that a big part of the quality of her recording came from her decision to hire members of Elvis Pressly’s band! Talk about a gold standard! You can easily hear Eric Burdon’s guitar licks and Glenn D. Hardin’s piano fills allowing Emmylout to create music studio magic in these performances..
Hey Ad rem. The software is doing something odd. When I type in a text correction I find that I have multiple quotations of the same text. I don’t know if this is me or you. Please advise. If I write a paragraph I often need to make typo corrections on the fly and this appears to the the source of the problem. Should I compose text offline and the n upload?.

This is a new one. I’ll c/p your comment to the back room for SD and engineers.
“compose text offline and the n upload?”
I have been doing that for several years for planned postings, as well as any detailed replies.
Before finding WordPress blogs about 5 yrs ago, I had spent significant amounts of time composing comments for the Disqus platform that were inadvertently lost because of something going wrong.
Like me using a phone to do a computer’s job!
So I learned my lesson and usually do a copy and paste from a word processor program, no matter if I am on a computer or a mobile device.
I left the duuble quotation up so you could see what it looks like. I didn’t do this intentionally—it just sort of appears as a part of my editing efforts. I think it may be better to compose off line and then upload. If that’s what is best to do, I’ll happily do it;. My problem is that I’m dyslexic and I can’t often see my typos. This requires lots of repeat edit. If it’s cumbersome for your software to handle this, I can easily do it offline. I don’t wnat my problem to make a lot of extra work for your guys.

Well, shoot. It did it again!
So the 3rd time is a charm, you got it right this time 😛
heh, i dont know what you use as a note taker, it used to be notepad in MS…Im on a mac so its called text/edit. Saves me alot of grief cause there are sites that use white print and it disappears if I try copy&paste action. So you can type to your note and edit there then do a copy&paste 🙂
Can I ask what kind of a device you’re on? Age/type/operating system? I’ve noticed my older gadgets do this to me, it might be your device, depending.
I had an aunt that bought the Ya’ll Come Back Saloon in Abbeville, and the only way I could visit her was to announce my arrival by going to the jukebox to play her favorite song…

Robson & Jerome – If I Can Dream
Hmm…I had an uncle that went offshore back then, made top dollar as a crane operator. They called him Cigar cause he would chew on one the whole time he was at work, he was a substitute dad to me and even walked me down the aisle to give me away 🙂
The recording artist known as Sting came up with a winner when he wrote, “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You.”
“…you could say I lost my belief in the politicians, they all seem like gameshow hosts to me…”

How do you make an account here that shows notifications for reply and comments by others on your posts? I missed this when going to the new platform.
just before you hit the “Post Comment” button, click the icon to the left of it that looks like a grayed-out bell. When you click it it turns green. Then click the Post Comment button. Immediately go to the Inbox for the email address you used to identify yourself with your screen name, and look for a confirmation email from TheLast Refuge. Open the email and find and click the confirmation link. Allow it to open a browser window and automatically register you to receive replies to that particular comment.
Do this for every comment you post. It’s more work than CTH 1.0, but it keeps your email and identity out of any database that might be hacked. Sundance designed this deliberately to safeguard everyone’s identity.
Testing this now! Last time I tried that feature hadn’t been implemented yet.
Well I got notice of your reply so here’s mine. ?
Oh neat! Thanks!
?
Thank you GB Bari, I have been doing that but wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do.
?
The font size of comments on comments is TOO SMALL.
Choose view from menu and adjust zoom
I don’t see any menu or view subsection. I can make the whole page larger but then other fonts are too large. Many/most sites have same font size for comments and secondary, tertiary comments. I make this comment bc I think it would improve the site.

✟
“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.”
Psalms 5:11 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
BE MY VOICE
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.

From Ol’ Remus (archives)
Three years ago I wrote:
“A spear is naturally intimidating. ‘Action at a distance’ seems to puzzle wildlife and physicists preferentially. The same menacing animal that ignores a magnum revolver will respect a spear, so they can commonly be kept at a distance, and should it not, be righteously impaled even by first timers. Perhaps it’s primeval muscle memory.”
In it’s simplest form a serviceable spear can be made in short order. As I said then, ‘Cut a length of pole timber, sharpen, fire harden, done. Make it taller than you are so you don’t impale yourself should you fall’. Use it as a walking stick and you also have a weapon in your hand at all times. And a fishing pole or fishing spear. And a cudgel. It’s a versatile tool, and a necessary one should you get separated from your pack or escape empty handed. I left it at that.
Lately I’ve considered carrying a metal spear tip as as part of my woods cruising pack, with more penetration than slicing in mind. Something that can be attached quickly even with hands numbed by cold. Something that wouldn’t lock me into a specific diameter. I think two inches is about right for a combo spear and walking stick, preferably ash, maybe an inch and a half for a spear only, but no matter how much I threaten it, pole timber refuses to grow in even increments so a little bit either way.
Just when I thought my pack was fully optimized I ran across the ‘Titan Two-Sided Mylar Emergency Survival Space Blankets, 5-Pack’. Twenty-one bux. 52″ x 82″, is 12u thick, weighs 1.75 oz and cammy on one side. Amazon . Looks like a serious upgrade to what I have now in terms of durability. Then I saw this one, ‘Swiss Safe Camouflage Emergency Mylar Blankets’, four for ten bux. Amazon. The specifications look identical, or near enough, so I went for the Swiss Safe. I’ll swap ’em out with what I have, one for one.
Here’s a note to all those white folks wringing their hands because they’re being insulted without consequence and elbowed to life’s periphery. Hah! Now we’re all Appalachian trash. Welcome to my world. I’ve kept a light on for you all this time.
Thanks for the light on!! There’s rednecks north of the Mason Dixon. H/T Aaron Lewis.
VICARIOUS INTERCESSION
“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.” Heb. x. 19
Beware of imagining that intercession means bringing our personal sympathies into the presence of God and demanding that He does what we ask. Our approach to God is due entirely to the vicarious identification of our Lord with sin. We have “boldness to enter into the holiest BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS.”
Spiritual stubbornness is the most effectual hindrance to intercession, because it is based on sympathy with that in ourselves and in others that we do not think needs atoning for. We have the notion that there are certain right and virtuous things in us which do not need to be based on the Atonement, and just in the domain of “stodge” that is produced by this idea we cannot intercede. We do not identify ourselves with God’s interest in others, we get petulant with God; we are always ready with our own ideas, and intercession becomes the glorification of our own natural sympathies. We have to realize that the identification of Jesus with sin means the radical alteration of all our sympathies. Vicarious intercession means that we deliberately substitute God’s interests in others for our natural sympathy with them.
Am I stubborn or substituted? Petted or perfect in my relationship to God? Sulky or spiritual? Determined to have my own way or determined to be identified with Him?

So last weekend I mentioned that tornadic activity was way below average for the year because April had historically low activity. Now it seems that it’s making up for lost time. tornadoes in MS, GA, VA, and IL yesterday. Tornado watch in MS as I write this.
Here is where we are so far this year.
lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen.
Amen…
Amen.
