Whoa, what in the heck was THAT? Never saw anything like that before, although that’s the noise we used to hear just prior to the lights going out.
This tweet seems to answer that question:
Gotta be hard on transformers on down the line. When the transformer on the pole across the road from us failed a few years ago there was a pop, a flash, some smoke, and that was it. We had no power.
Yes that type of catastrophic failure can take out several transformers close by. Usually the power company installs HV line circuit breakers to trip when big surges occur and prevent those dangerous surges from traveling further. I can only guess at the problem but couldn’t accurately diagnose this situation from the video.
Where I worked we had our own substation that we maintained (not the power company). We bought 3 phase power from the power company at 11,000 VAC, so that we got the lowest cost possible, and we had a big fenced in yard full of HV transformers and switches to distribute the power to each of 9 buildings on the site
Each building had its own substation(s) to further step down the high voltage to whatever voltages were needed within that facility. So it was imperative we had a fully qualified high voltage engineer working full time in our facilities department. Annual Arc flash training was mandatory for all electrical maintenance workers and contractors. That stuff is deadly if it’s not respected and handled properly.
?
Thanks, GB! Always looking out for dizzy Margot. 😕
Seriously, though, I’ve seen a transformer blow, but never saw it travel along the power line.
Yes that’s an uncommon occurrence in most situations. I’ve seen it arc flash close to the transformer but it usually trips the heavy line circuit breakers to prevent over voltage from going into their customers building wiring. But occasionally the conditions are right for the arcing to travel across the transmission lines until the arc reaches a point where there is enough “dielectric” resistance between the wires to stop it.
I really appreciate the info, GB. I had no idea. We were living in a neighborhood south of Tampa a few years ago and they were doing some sewer line work down the street. Some guy driving a piece of heavy excavation equipment took out a whole section of power lines behind the row of houses where we were living. I want to say it was a backhoe, but I think it was something larger than that.
Anyway, the lines came down on the house next door and the one just beyond that and they went up in flames. Just missed us, thank God. Those lines were HOT!
Whoa! Expensive and dangerous mistake….
Up in East Chicago there was an older and smaller power plant right on the lake shore . They were using a crane for some work outside and in humid air or perhaps spray from the lake caused an arc from the power distribution station outside to the crane. Ruined every bit of cable in that big crane, Don’t know what happened to anyone around it of the operator because I just saw the result after the fact.
It was wet there. Years ago when I was in the business of doing work for coal fired power stations we were down at the huge Crystal River generation facility in Florida lining the coal mill exhausters of Unit #2 which was the primary power source for Disney World BTW. They had their 100 year storm.
That facility is right on the coast and draws it’s water from the Gulf. They had a hell of a time keeping on line with their other two coal fired plants and the nuc plant (now closed) when a 100 year storm came in because the wind was blowing salt water spray off the gulf onto their transformer/transmission stations and shorting them out.
That unit #2 we were working on was of course shut down for it’s annual maintenance period. It was the largest of the coal fired units there. The whole wet wall boiler was suspended by huge beams with huge springs at the top of the building. The boiler would expand over 8′ in length when it was fired up.
A tour of such a power generation facility is an eye opener for the typical layman. I would describe the facilities as both simple and complex. The principles upon which they operate are generally simple. The machinery and controls for applying those principles on such a grand scale are complex.
Lets take one of the more seemingly straight forward aspects as an example. As I said they drew their water from the gulf. It was sucked in via big inlets. Simple right? Well not exactly. Sea life would also be sucked in with the water. Baskets to catch it were used. Several times a day the baskets were pulled up and the number and species of sea life captured and killed in the basket were counted. They had a fishery right there on the facility and were required to raise and release exactly what was killed in their baskets.
And that is not all. Of course the baskets could not catch the spores of barnacles and other such creatures. So they would end up going to the condensers where they died as the water was heated.. Of course those condensers were located near the Raymond Coal Mill exhausters we were working on and were opened and being cleaned so we endured the smell.
And it isn’t over yet, The condensed and purified water can only be used to so many times to make steam and then had to cooled and and salt and minerals added back in so it would not effect the salinity and pH of the of the local waters and thus effect the sea life, It didn’t have to be cooled back to ambient but close enough it would not have a damaging effect. So that water was considerably warmer than ambient when reintroduced back into the gulf.
The manatees that flocked to place during the colder months because of the warmer water.
Impressive. I’ve never worked around a power generating plant. I can only imagine, although your descriptions are pretty good.
The tubes in the wet wall boiler came in panels of about 6 pipes per panel. Of course they carry high pressure steam. When tube sections had to be replaced the cut out the length needed and then cut a panel to fit.
It would take two master welders using arc welders to install the new panel. The one on the outside of the panel starts the arc and when he got to the end of the panel the one on the inside had to pick up the arc without stop and weld the inside of the panel in.
6 different stainless steel alloys were used for the different panels depending on what portion of the line in the wet wall depending on what part of they were to be installed in.
The coal is ground up fine, pyrites separated in the mill, Then through regulators that regulate the flow of the coal and at the same time the now baby powder fine coal is being mixed and pushed by preheated air.
It is then fed into the coal mill exhauster fans (that we were lining with high alumina ceramic tiles which are very hard and very resistant to abrasion). There were five of those exhausters, Imagine a blower 15′ in diameter.
Those blew the preheated coal up several stories through 30″ diameter chrome cast iron pipes to injectors where it enters the boiler. Fine coal preheated like that is almost explosive and the temperature of the preheat has to be closely controlled. But preheating prevents “shocking” the boiler and greatly increases the BTU’s produced by a given amount of coal.
The coal burns and creates two kinds of ash. There is the fly ash so light it is lifted by the hot air out of ducts in the top of the boiler, Then there is the bottom ash that is heavier and can form big heavy clinkers (imagine cinders that can be several hundred pounds) which fall to the bottom and and fed into a crusher.
Both types of ash are very abrasive but bottom ash is the worst. The crushed and pulverized bottom ash is then transported away in pipes either pneumatically or in a slurry system, Modern plants for the most part are now doing it pneumatically because slurry settling ponds are every environmentally unfriendly,
The bottom ash is then trucked away and used for all kinds of applications. Black Beauty sand blasting grit is bottom ash that has been further processed and sized. The grit on black three tab roofing shingles is bottom ash called “head lap” in the shingle making industry. Also used as aggregate in some concrete formulas and as the grit in paint and epoxy floor coatings used for providing grip on floors and stair treads and such.
I could go on and on but won’t. I’ll just say that I have described for you just one chain of industries of many that I worked and in some cases was the first to develop for the use of high alumina ceramic or other ceramic compounds for use as abrasion resistance liners that are much more cost effective than any metal.
Now the next question would be why am I driving a truck? After 15 years as GM, Dealing with sales reps, Producing all the sales literature, doing all of the engineering, all of the bids and quotes, and supervising shop operations and most of the larger onsite installation projects I had had enough. .It was just that simple. It had become difficult to stay motivated and my work was a chore instead of something I enjoyed.
So per prior arrangement I was bought out by the family business and headed off to truck driving school because that was what I wanted to do.
One of my mentors from long ago could gas weld aluminum panels. It was amazing watching him do that work , something he’d been doing since he was about 12 I, on the other hand, am a past master at melting aluminum with a torch.
I grew up in the welding, fabrication, and metals warehouse business. At 9 years old during the summer I was grinding, priming, painting, and a helper for installation of ornamental Iron, You know, railings, window guards, fencing and such.
When I was 14 I was a welder-fabricator,with my own area and table during the summer months. I participated in school sports until HS. Since Anderson HS was then right across from the family business I would walk over after school and work in the shop in the afternoons and evenings.
When I was a student at Indiana University I would be 2nd shift foreman when I came home for the summer. running a crew of a dozen or so guys.
I grew up being trained by some really great craftsmen and welders. Have done arc, Tig, and Mig welding plus brazing and soldering. Besides my own families business I also worked in a union sheet metal shop for a time fabricating industrial ducting and then at old Insely manufacturing in Indianapolis where I was a welder running 3/32 flux core wire Mig welding parts for backhoes made out of 1″ to 2″ thick steel plate. Really hot work I went to those places to broaden my experience. Welding, fabricating, was the trade I intended to stay in until I went into the Army to fulfill a long standing dream.to earn the Green Beret.
Rah,
I always look forward to your posts. So very interesting, thanks for taking the time..
hope you are feeling better.
Am improving. Thank you very much.
Discomfort at incision and the remains of my prostate has diminished to the point where I am using nothing for pain. In fact the only drug I am taking now is the’ Flow Max which I suspect I will be taking for the rest of my life.
Still weak as a kitten though I am starting to get some meat back on my bones.. Still having lots of problems with insomnia. Was up all last night. Simply couldn’t sleep, And thus the volume of my posts here and the errors I make in writing some of the posts.. But I am very thankful that I can at least sit down for long periods without too much discomfort which is something I couldn’t do for a couple months after the first surgery.
Good for you. Press on buddy! 🙂
We lived right below a TVA pumped storage power generating plant, and the mountain and reservoir is a wonderful area for biking, hiking, picnics, and watching sunrises and sunsets, and enjoying views of the many mountains, as well as the Tennessee River canyon.
They used to give tours of the facility, and I always meant to go, but until we moved only a couple miles from it I didn’t prioritize that tour. After 9/11 they stopped of course, and I’ll never have that chance.
Once I did go walking along the road where the huge intake turbines are and they were pumping the water up the mountain. The entire mountain was rumbling, and you could not only hear it, you could feel it. It was awesome.
Yep! After 9/11 we there would be guards armed with M-16s at the gate of some power plants, and we had to have our hands swabbed with indicator paper that would show if we had handled explosives before being allowed to pass even though we had been identified and cleared to work there.
did you say dialectric or dialectic?
?
posted the wrong video, see above for the right one, I was riffing on your mention of dialectric
ah, I screwed up my own joke with the wrong video
this is the dialectic video I intended
I have used dielectric grease and silicone for certain applications. Use it on the sockets for the lights on my boat trailer to seal them and prevent water penetration. Get ready to put the boat in, disconnect the trailer lights and let the bulbs cool a bit and then back it down the ramp and into the water. Do that and use dielectric silicone to seal them will make the lights work for years without a problem. I also use it on all of my outside lights that may be exposed to water.
Sometimes when a high voltage line step-down transformer “blows”, it sends transmission line levels of high voltage (11,000 volts) across what are designated as lower level voltage wires that run to other transformers that in turn step down the voltage to 440 or 220 for homes and small businesses.
So what appears in that video are surges of high voltage “arc flashing” across wires that are too close together for such a high potential (voltage) that those particular wires were not designed to carry.
Ah, OK, I think I get it. Thanks. I guess that’s what they mean by infrastructure needing an upgrade. Geez.
Guess you never watched any of those paranormal shows. They claim that spirits can travel along power lines to get from one place to another, LOL!
Last winter we had an episode of stratospheric warming drive Arctic air down through WI, IA, IL, MI, IN. Cold weather records were broken. I remember driving along a portion of I-65 on the North side Lafayette, IN where high tension lines parallel the interstate and I could hear their hum over the noise of the big truck with my windows down.
That’s amazing. I can hear that 60Hz hum (and sometimes harmonics) when I’m within a few hundred feet of HV lines. Drives me nuts (figuratively) if I stay around it too long.
My wife can hear high pitched birds and crickets that I can no longer hear from any distance but she doesn’t hear the 60Hz AC power hum in ceiling fans or other appliances. Lucky her.
I replaced my ceiling fans with DC ones; so much happier.
We have ceiling fans in about every room but the bathrooms. The only ceiling fan in my house which hums is the one in the dining room. It is the only one hooked to a switch that allows one to adjust the brightness of the lights and adjust the speed of the fan. All five of the others run silently except one which periodically works the light fixture lose and makes a tinking noise. When I tighten it back up it’s fine. Don’t know why haven’t put some thread lock on that thing to stop that from happening.
To clarify for others, ceiling fans with a DC motor run silently. They are fabulous.

One thing I have noticed in driving around the country. The wind turbine units in places in places like Kansas running down to Texas are generally larger than those I see further North and North east. The ones down in the valley in SE Texas north of Brownsville are bigger than any I can remember seeing anywhere else.
rah, I drive back and forth to FL, a lot and see a fair amount of stuff…like little towns, gone…and thanks for all you truckers do!
There are new solar panels on westbound Rt. 52 out of Joliet…wonder how they are working now, all covered with snow? It has snowed about every 36 hours here…at least 3-5 inches…with temps around 5 and lower.
On Rt 47, there are many wind turbine farms…also south on I-57 and I-55 in IL…wonder how they are working? We have power, so far. Am thankful for that.
I first encountered Lightin’ Hopins about 1964 or so at a little bar on Houston’s Westheimer street. It was just a few blocks down from my apartment. Although I was officially underage, if I could walk up to the bar I could get a beer. So, of course, I did. Lightin’n was playing that night to an audience to couldn’t have been larger than a dozen or more. But on hearing his brutally honest music, I immediately became a lifelong fan. The thing about The Blues is it’s inherent honesty. It doesn’t lie to you. You don’t have some song writer out their looking for the “hook”. It just is. Sitting there that night, listing to Lioghtin’ do his set —for about a dozen people in that little bar, I learned something about life that in my 19 years I’d never even contemplated. Lightin’ was communicating ultimate truth. I received his message and took it too heart.
The Blues is truth . . .
Nice……
I was fortunate to see Dave van Ronk in a similar type of situation long ago. Lightnin’ Hopkins would’ve been *great* tho!
Life gives us some real treasures- unexpectedly!
The similar awakening for me was on East Jefferson Ave. 60 years ago. The little place was called ‘The Black and Tan’. The two guys entertaining the other ten of us were called Sonny Terry and Brownie MacGhee. We lied about our age to get in and enjoy. The people didn’t care that we were white. These East Side Detroiters enjoyed that we enjoyed, too.
Lightnin’ was one of those guys who not only played to the room, he also played the room. His favorite shtick was telling one of the white boys sitting near the stage to “Run on down to the drug store and get me a bottle of Robitussin” (He probably started doing this when it still had codine in it). Everybody was in on the joke and the white boys all considered getting called on an honor. Of course Lightnin’ never paid for the Robitussin. 🙂
Seems appropriate. “And if it snows that stretch down south will never stand the strain…”
Hope the Wichita lineman wasn’t still on THAT line.
So I noticed my socks don’t match. I thought they did but they don’t. They’re both gray with a red heel but I see now that the left one has thin black stripes and, if I’m being perfectly honest, likely a higher wool content. Not sure what to do about it, this whole thing has really thrown me for a loop. Is that the right phrase, “thrown me for a loop”? Do you get thrown FOR a loop or thrown THROUGH a loop? Where are all these loops coming from? Some people get knocked for a loop. These are the people you see pushing on doors that have a big “PULL” sign.
After a lot of soul searching I’ve decided to keep wearing the socks as-is. Wish me luck. What’s the worst that could happen?
COVID-19 isolation / cabin fever getting to you?
Update: After 10 minutes both socks and feet appear unharmed. Will report back if situation changes.
I dunno, but could I have a sip? 😀
Update: In a weak moment I thought about taking the easy way out. I went to the sock drawer, thinking of finding a new pair, a pair that matches. That’s it, I’ll just change socks. Then this will all be over. Simple, right? Imagine my horror when I realize there are no clean socks. None. I haven’t done laundry in a long time. Like Cortez burning his boats after landing in the New World, there is no going back now. I’m stuck with this mismatched pair of socks. What a wild ride.

Texas is now having another problem with power generation. Usually when they get these rare periods of Arctic weather they only last a short time and it warms right up in a day or two. This one has been far more sustained and now some Coal fired and NG fired power plants are having trouble because their water source is freezing up and clogging the water inlets. No water no steam to run the turbines which turn the generators.
Quick, somebody call Rick Perry! Oops.
They don’t run bubblers in the water ponds?
Details still pending. Mentioned in an Arse Technica report in passing with no details given. However I suspect that southern stations in more arid lands may have shallower sources and also probably figured they didn’t have to spend the money for such precautions.
?
Pray for the people in TX. tonite. I can’t imagine how some of them will get by since they’re not exactly set up for extremely cold weather.

I have a Dear Friend living in a RV Park in Rockport, Texas. Without power she can’t charge her batteries to run her propane heater. She has been using her car battery but now she is almost out of gas. I have been on Rockport Facebook this morning trying to find an open gas station. This situation is becoming dire for her because they have no idea when power will be restored in her area. Yes, it is a serious situation for Texans today.
Please keep us posted if possible.

When The Lord Asked Why
The By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam
There are two occasions when the Lord asked “Why?” that stand out from all the rest.
Once it was to God He cried it and once to Saul of Tarsus. Once to the Holy One and once to the chief of sinners. Once He cried it from the shameful cross and once from His glory in heaven. In each case the name was repeated.
In Matt. 27:46 we find the first anguished “Why?” as He cried: “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” The other is found in Acts 9:4, where He called from His exile in heaven: “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me?”
These two questions represent the greatest riddles of history and yet strangely, one of them is the simple solution to the other! Why did God forsake His Son? You will find the answer when you ask why mankind, represented by Saul, forsook and even persecuted God’s Son. God’s action, in giving Christ up to die, was the antidote to man’s. Christ’s death was the remedy — the only possible remedy — for man’s sin. It was because of the utter unreasonableness of man’s sin that God, to save him, had to be more than reasonable.
Saul had led his nation and the world in rebellion against Christ, but this is just why, in infinite love, God chose him to become the great apostle of grace, telling the world that “Christ died for our sins.”
Hear him tell how he had been “a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious” but how “the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant” (1 Tim. 1:13,14). Hear him say:
“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief, Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long suffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on Him to life everlasting” (Vers. 15, 16).
Since the “chief of sinners” is now in heaven, there is hope for us all if we but trust in the Christ who died for us.
https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/when-the-lord-asked-why/
Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Acts 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
1 Timothy 1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

I wish that I had a small measure of that grace.

The eccentric Lawrence did a great job for the British Empire. But under the pressure of the war they made too many promises to many different groups. The formation of Israel of course pissed the Arabs off to no end. The promise of allowing a new caliphate also was welched on. And then there was the formation of the new country of Iraq.
So Lawrence went from Loved to hated by some of those he had worked so hard with during the war.

Special Announcement:
The Secretary of Defense has announced that IAW orders of President Biden the immediate return to Defense Officers Personnel Management Administration (DOPMA) a program first implemented during the Carter administration and only re-implemented during the Obama administration. Note: Each president (including Bill Clinton) between Carter and Obama refused to allow the program to proceed.
Basically the program provides the following measures will be applied to each of the commissioned military officers in each category.
1. Officers being selected for promotion to pay grade O-4 (army/marine/air force majors and navy lieutenant commanders) will be scheduled for a lobotomy to enhance regimented thinking.
2. Officers being selected for promotion to pay grade O-6 (army/marine/air force colonels and navy captains) will be scheduled for a flapobotomy (see Bethesda Medical Center Surgical Procedures Manual for the procedure’s details) to enhance the officer’s ability to clearly see where he/she is going with his/her head up his/her rectum.
3. Officers being selected for promotion to pay grade O-7 (army/marine/air force brigadier generals and navy rear admirals/lower half) would be scheduled for attendance at the Flag Officers Sailing Course at the U.S. Naval Academy with concentrates on providing the student officer with the ability to tack with equal levels of skill to the starboard and/or the port.

So that’s how they did it! Wow!
.
If that were the way they did it then I would think that some traces of the paths they built would still be detectable. I just watched a show on Easter Island last night. They were saying that that the island was relatively dry for the population living there and fresh water was precious. The locations of the Moai correspond very closely to the locations of the fresh water sources.
THE INSPIRATION OF SPIRITUAL INITIATIVE
“Arise from the dead.” Eph. v. 14
All initiative is not inspired. A man may say to you – “Buck up, take your disinclination by the throat, throw it overboard, and walk out into the thing.” That is ordinary human initiative. But when the Spirit of God comes in and says, in effect, “Buck up,” we find that the initiative is inspired.
We all have any number of visions and ideals when we are young, but sooner or later we find that we have no power to make them real. We cannot do the things we long to do, and we are apt to settle down to the visions and ideals as dead, and God has to come and say – “Arise from the dead.” When the inspiration of God does come, it comes with such miraculous power that we are able to arise from the dead and do the impossible thing. The remarkable thing about spiritual initiative is that the life comes after we do the “bucking up.” God does not give us overcoming life; He gives us life AS WE OVERCOME. When the inspiration of God comes, and He says – “Arise from the dead,” we have to get up; God does not lift us up. Our Lord said to the man with the withered hand – “Stretch forth thy hand,” and as soon as the man did so, his hand was healed, but he had to take the initiative. If we will do the overcoming, we shall find we are inspired of God because He gives life immediately.

Still not as cold as forecast here in Central Indiana. Down to 5 F at my place at 07:09. They forecast 6 to 11″ of snow last night through this morning, We got 3″ making a total of 4″ for this “winter storm” on top of the 5″ we already had on the ground. It quit snowing and there appears to be nothing on radar headed our way. I’m kind of disappointed.
There was enough wind I do have some small drifts.
-8 here in OK with 8″ of snow from Sunday-Monday and more expected tonight! ?
-19 here in tropical Minnesota with wind chill possibly down to -40 until 10am. The sun is out so just another day. Sure feel for those in Texas.
Did we just have the worst cold of the whole nation here last night?

As soon as the angels had resumed their former positions, my guide informed me, that those infant spirits I had just beheld blest by the Redeemer, had been given into the charge of other angels, whose delight was to gently train the mind by means adapted to their advancing condition; and that now was approaching a scene in which I should witness the reception of infants just from earth. As she closed, I saw above and around, angels poising in the serene atmosphere, waiting with their treasures the moment to arrive for them to enter the temple. When the former angels had given up their charge, and were preparing to receive another class, these entered and occupied the centre around the Cross. At first their movement was irregular, but not disturbed. Then the softest and most gentle music commenced, as if harmony had awakened from here sacred stillness, and moved in almost silent utterance, like some spirit breath, from the heart of gentleness and love.
I was surprised at the quiet movement of this sweet music, and felt somewhat impatient with desire for some angel to touch the swelling notes now burdened with the melody which appeared to me suppressed. But my guide relieved me, by directing my attention to a company of maternal spirits, who were gathering around those angels who had just entered. These moved to the time and serenity of the music, while engaged with each angel in nourishing the infants held to their breasts. The music and movement of these maternal spirits manifested great caution; while all others in the temple were motionless, as far as I could discern, except three spirits, who appeared to poise above the centre, from whom radiated a soft and pure light.
“Those angels,” said my guide, “encompassed in a light above that of the temple, are of a higher and more exalted nature. From them proceeds a halo of superior light. This light is the descending life of love. Dost thou not see how it concentrates, forming a separate spiral like embodiment, encompassing and overshadowing those germinal existences in the arms of the guardian angels? That which is nourished by each angel is a spirit whose being is just begun, and who, by reason of nature’s violated laws, has been separated prematurely from its infant form in the external world. This soft music thrills every fibre of the being, while the Supreme Spirit is reorganizing and giving it enlarged capacity – fitting each organ to its fellow organ in the harmony of perfection, thus establishing tone and proper energy in the system. The life-light descending enters the sensorium of the infant, and thence outbreathes as breath of life and soul of love. The Quickening Spirit gives energy and expansion to the life principle unfolding, so that the intellect may perceive, the judgment operate, the understanding embrace realities, and the being enjoy the life thereof.”

Good afternoon, WeeWeed!
Happy Paczki Day, All! We’re digging out of about 9″ of snow, and the second wave has just started here in great white north. Stay warm, and enjoy a paczki or three or four!
We only received about 6 inches here in my first ring suburb of Buffalo, NY.
My mother went to the supermarket yesterday and commented on someone standing in line with just there paczkis when she came back home.

There is none
Suggestion. If it occurs again, Go into Edit mode and simply backspace delete the URL code and anything else you typed in the box. So because the software won’t let you delete the post, type anything that won’t confuse others as to why your post is there. Such as “deleted – image too large” or “test “ or whatever….
Ad rem says that images should be downsized to 500 pixels wide max if they’re large
I use whatever microsoft image editor that’s on my desktop to resize them if they’re bigger than that

FTA: Biden, who long has been accused by critics of being soft on China, issued a lengthy executive order in which, buried amid matters purportedly designed to combat climate change, was an anomalous and potentially dangerous provision. The provision in question addresses nothing reasonably connected to climate change. Instead, it suspends for 90 days a key security measure put in place last May 1 by former President Donald Trump. Biden’s suspension of Trump’s measure makes not the slightest sense.
Trump’s Executive Order 13920 declared a national emergency with respect to the nation’s electric grid and prohibited the acquisition or installation of “any bulk-power electric equipment … designed, developed, manufactured, or supplied, by persons owned by, controlled by, or subject to the jurisdiction or direction of a foreign adversary.” In sum, Trump forbade the use of grid equipment that is made in China, Russia, or other hostile nations.

This makes sense if Biden wants China to control this country. Eliminating the U.S. electrical grid security is rather important. Another impeachable offense.
“Well I guess it doesn’t matter anymore.” Linda Ronstadt covers Buddy Holly’s classic song and makes it even better, imo.

February 3rd on the traditional Calendar of the Orthodox Christian Church and February 16th on the civil or commercial calendar.
The “Prologue from Ochrid” gives an excellent account for this day. Also, Saint Philaret, Metropolitan of New York (+ 1985), gave a sermon on Saint Symeon that is at this link. (Saint Philaret was a strong resister to the Bolshevik-communist-sergianist attempts to completely control or destroy the Church and he resisted the pan-heresy of ecumenism.)

Hey did you know that when the weather gets really cold wild animals will break in to the garage to get warm?? Hahaha, yep, hahaha. Hey, how small an opening do you think a possum can fit through???? Hahaha smaller than I thought hahahaha. Hey do you keep mouse traps in your garage? Baited with peanut butter? Did you know possums like peanut butter too, hahaha? But mouse traps just make possums angry. Hahaha. This is awesome hahahaha.
Everlasting Father Jehovah \ Christ Jesus the Son in Whose Name we pray \ By the Grace of Your Holy Spirit \ Give us Your Life \ Teach us Your Way. Amen. Amen. Amen.
I am praying hard from here on in that the Good LORD will teach me how not to lose my sense of humor every time I see or hear a creepy professional politician spouting another line of lies, prevarications, half-truth and misdirection. It’s like politicians are working to make everybody as miserable as they are: humorless and without decency, totally fake. No wonder they all hate Trump.
The vice that is virtue-signaling
Edited, because still testing.
Prayers desperately needed for those involved in the winter cold.
I have been blessed and comforted by friends and neighbors calling to check on me and offering help. Only problem is frozen water pipes, but I have some stored water. I haven’t driven to town, can’t report. Not much traffic on the highway going by my place, but I think I could get around if necessary. No “rolling blackouts” for me, but talked with a friend last night near Galveston who was off and on.
Please pray and tell us all about your situation. God’s blessings upon all.
Rolling blackouts in N Texas—so far, so good. On for an hour, off for one to one and a half hours. Wearing a hooded sweatshirt and staying warm. The minute the electricity comes on, we pop a leftover in the microwave and have a hot meal. We are blessed. Praying for those who are having a much harder time. Our daughter is in the College Sta area and has no water or electricity. Fortunately, her job is in a place that has it’s own generators, so she’s hunkered down there. And a big thank you to all the Greenies who thought that wind turbines would take care of any and all electric needs. HA!
Please watch and see who stands up for this country. We love the USA. God Bless all of America.
Sorry. I got something in my eyes. Happens every time I hear that song.
Here is another one that does that to me everytime:
;
Me too, rah. And, it makes my heart ache.
Our Cocker, is usually a very good girl, but she said to hell with it this morning and decided she was pooping in the house. That was before we got the deck cleared and an area in the yard shoveled where she can go.
The deck is now cleared and an area shoveled out in the back yard for her to do her business. Neighbor cleared the drive with his snow blower. Though the FJ wouldn’t have had a problem getting out,but we have to take our trash out to the road and having the drive cleared makes that much easier.
. I have a water cooler and have the five gallon bottles delivered along with the salt for the water softener They didn’t show for their monthly delivery last Thursday and told us when we called it wasn’t going to happen until next month, so this week I will put the empty bottles in the FJ and go up and get the water and salt we need. During the winter we usually go through 20 gallons a week and during the hot months of the summer we” typically use 30 gallons.
They claim we got 9″ but I would say it was not more than 5″. but that was on top of the 4-5″ we already had on the ground before this “winter storm” .Sun is shinning today here in central Indiana and everything is that beautiful bright white. The birds sure are hitting the seed blocks.
Holly, the pony across the street is staying in her shed and not going out into her fenced in pasture. We walk over and feed her apples and carrots once a week as does, Steve my neighbor. But she wouldn’t even come out of her shed and come up to the fence when we called her two days ago. We were a bit worried about her, but today I saw her owner shoveled a path to her shed and took feed out so I guess she’s alright. Schools are closed due to the snow. Plows have done a good job on our county road and one just went by scraping again.
Wife made homemade date bars. One of my favorites. Can’t eat more than two at a sitting since they do loosen one up some and besides they’re twice as thick as what a box mix makes and of course made with dates freshly bought from the store instead of the dehydrated pieces in a box mix.
This is the heaviest accumulation of snow we’ve had in over five years here. And so life goes on with the beautiful what blanket that God has blessed us with. .
We go through 20 gallons a MONTH not a week.
Hopefully the homes in Texas have fireplaces! A well stoked fire can keep a house cozy and warm once its been burning awhile. I also recommend feather blankets and bundling up in bed. Some sleeping bags will keep you warm in sub zero temperatures.
If you go into a car to warm up make sure the muffler is not covered by snow. The exhaust can back up and the fumes can kill you.
I was watching little house on the prairie. Season 8 episode 20. And how the doc got thru influenza. Some one pointed it out last week.
lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen….
Thank you. 🙂
Amen
Amen.
Amen.
