Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Rightly Dividing The Word Of Truth
By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

St. Paul wrote to Timothy, many centuries ago:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (II Tim. 3: 16).

The Apostle referred, of course, to the sacred Scriptures, also called The Bible and The Word of God. All of it, he says, is “God-breathed and profitable,” to “teach,” to “reprove,” to “correct” and to “instruct.”

But why, then, have so many heresies and false teachings sprung up through the years – all based upon the Bible? And why have so many thousands of sincere people been led astray by these false teachings?

The reason is that teachers and followers alike have failed to heed another important statement which Paul made in this same letter prior to his declaration that all Scripture is inspired of God and profitable. This statement is found in Chapter 2, Verse 15:

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”

The Bible can prove “profitable” to us only as we “rightly divide” it. We must rightly divide the Word of truth for the simple reason that if we do not do this we can pervert the truth and change it into error. Through the centuries God has periodically altered His dealings with mankind. Many religious rites which were commanded in Old Testament times are positively forbidden in this present dispensation of grace.

In Old Testament times, for example, animal sacrifices were required for acceptance with God, and from John the Baptist through Pentecost water baptism was required (Lev. 17:11; Mk. 1:4; Acts 2:38), but some years after the death of Christ Paul was sent forth with “the preaching of the cross,” and he declared that: “We have redemption through [Christ’s] blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7) “Being justified freely by [God’s] grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 3:24).

“In Old Testament times, for example, animal sacrifices were required for acceptance with God, and from John the Baptist through Pentecost water baptism was required (Lev. 17:11; Mk. 1:4; Acts 2:38)”

Hebrews 11:4 offers insight as to sacrifice and acceptance — “By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he was testified to be righteous, God bearing witness to his gifts; and through it, having died, he still speaks.”

Also in the “By faith” list in Hebrews 11 were Noah, “heir of the righteousness that is according to faith” (cf. Hebrews 11:7) and Abraham who “being tested, has offered up Isaac” (cf. Hebrews 11:17). A further citation of the latter example is in James 2:22 — “You see that his faith was working with his actions, and his faith was perfected by what he did”.

James 2:22-24 makes a point regarding works and justification as it related to Abraham’s willingness to offer Isaac (cf. James 2:21): “You see that his faith was working with his works, and by his works, his faith was perfected. And the Scripture was fulfilled, saying, “And Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God. You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone.”

The verse quoted from Genesis 15:6 is well before the occasion with Isaac and the altar. Was Abram / Abraham’s personal salvation in question over all the years until that occasion? Let’s see what points Paul sought to establish regarding issues of timing and place related to salvation, faith, and works.

In Romans 4:2-3, Paul appears to disabuse us of the notion that salvation was bestowed as a result of successful keeping and execution of works rather than a gift a God by grace through faith: “For if Abraham was justified by works, he has ground of boasting, but not toward God. For what does the Scripture say? ‘And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness.’”

The same verse (originally from Genesis 15:6) was cited in Galatians 3:6, after Paul asked the believers there to consider if God’s work in them and gifts for them were “out of works of the Law, or out of hearing of faith”. Viewing the greater context of Scripture, the usage by James appears to go towards validating the place of good works as it connects to a believer’s faith bearing out in reality.

After Paul points out in Ephesians 2:8-10 that believers were saved “not as a result of works” but by grace through faith, the place is affirmed of “good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”. Titus 2:11-14 and 3:5-8 additionally appear to serve as an encouragement towards pursuing good works following a reiteration of how believers are saved and are justified.

Why Paul Told Timothy to Rightly Divide
By Justin Johnson

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15

Perhaps you have heard this verse used as a slogan for Bible study, or even dispensational Bible study, but why did Paul tell Timothy to rightly divide the word of truth?

What did Paul mean by “rightly dividing the word of truth”?

In the verse immediately preceding this command, we learn that there were contentions about words from God that subverted the hearers and destroyed their faith.

“Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.” – 2 Tim 2:14

Paul’s command to rightly divide the word of truth was intended to rescue these men from subversion, by putting “them in remembrance”.

Remembrance of what? Apparently it was remembrance of Paul’s gospel.

“Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel…” – 2 Tim 2:7-8

They were to remember that Paul was appointed the preacher, apostle, and teacher of the Gentiles, and were to continue in what they learned from him ( 2 Tim 1:11-13).

Paul’s gospel gives the full explanation as to the purpose of Christ’s death and resurrection, which was hidden since the world began, but had been appointed to Paul to preach.

“Who saved us… according to his own purpose, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, but is now made manifest… whereunto I am appointed a preacher…” – 2 Tim 1:8-11

Paul endured much trouble in preaching the mystery of the gospel committed unto him by the Lord (1 Tim 1:11; 1 Cor 9:17; Eph 6:19-20).

By the grace of God he persisted to see all men profit from eternal life and the riches of God’s grace according to his gospel. It was only through Paul’s gospel that men could now obtain this profit in Christ.

Timothy possessed the same commission from Paul ( 1 Tim 6:20-21), but instead of profiting the hearers they were being subverted.

Some men desired to be teachers of the law which Paul called vanity (1 Tim 1:5-9). Others were teaching the profanity by denying the resurrection.

The word of truth rightly divided should have brought all men to understanding God’s will. The opposite had occurred, because of wrong doctrine.

Timothy faced pressure to change the doctrine he had learned from Paul, and perhaps follow the teachings of Moses, Jesus under the law, or the circumcision.

Paul exhorted Timothy not to be ashamed of him, nor the message of grace he learned from him, but to be strong in the grace (2 Tim 1:8; 2 Tim 1:13; 2 Tim 2:1).

Paul is famous for posing the question, “do I now persuade men, or God?” Here, Paul does not let Timothy answer the question, but supplies the answer himself.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed…” – 2 Timothy 2:15

We study to show ourselves approved unto God, and not unto men.

There was no reason for Timothy to back down or be ashamed of Paul or his message of grace, even if it meant he had to suffer the inconvenience of ruffling the feathers and charging some men to be quiet and “teach no other doctrine” (1 Tim 1:3).

Timothy was a teacher of the truth, a workman of the Lord, and he needed to prove himself in this. He would be an unashamed workman if he did one thing:

“…rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Tim 2:15

Rightly divide it from the strife and wrong doctrine that existed. Hold fast the form of sound words!

Paul is commanding Timothy to continue in the faith that he learned from him (2 Tim 3:14). Speak those things that he heard from him, and not from the teachers of the law, circumcision, vanity and profanity.

Letting these strifes and oppositions against Paul’s doctrine would not only be wrong, but harmful to the hearers. This would have been wrong division, hindering the hearers from understanding God’s will.

Rightly divide the word of truth for the profit of the hearers. Mix it with confusion, and placate the profane, and the faith would be overthrown.

Paul told Timothy to give people what is right from the Lord, and shun what was wrong. This can be hard when what is right is not what people want.

Right division is the separation from wrong doctrine to stand for what is right and profit the hearers.

“But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” – 2 Timothy 2:16

The word of truth revealed to Paul for the church today is right, and any doctrine contrary to what the Lord had revealed to him for today is wrong.

This is why Paul charged Timothy to rightly divide the word of truth. A failure to do so would result in a failure in the faith of those to whom he ministered.

Just walked in to a public space where Anderson Cooper was on–forced to listen while I made my coffee.

It’s the worst it’s ever been. Every word dripping with venom and ridicule. “Simply madness” that anybody would pervert the court by filing such a ridiculous lawsuit and all that.

To cap it off, he showed a RESPONSE to MI rep Cynthia Johnson’s remarks (commanding her “soldiers” to impose bodily harm on Trump supporters) with no amplifying context, so his viewers would only see a Trump supporter reacting aggressively to this “poor, innocent woman of color.” (you know, racism and stuff) without seeing WHY they said those things.

Absolutely sickening. If I had to watch this stuff all the time, my blood pressure would be through the roof! How can ANYBODY watch this stuff anymore and not see through it?

Understand your position.
It’s why I had been curious all along how Kellyanne Conway maintained her marriage under one roof during her work for Candidate then President Trump. I understand her concern for her children, but her husband was well beyond reasonable.

Her most recent remarks about the election may have illuminated a bit of why she tolerated George’s extreme criticism. But still……

Back in the 1990s people rightfully questioned the marriage of Mary Matalin and James Carville (the Ragin’ Cajun) who were not only on opposite sides of the political spectrum, they were both television opinion pundits who appeared frequently on news talk shows. My conclusion was that they were simply not nearly as convicted in their politics as they were in their love life. Good on ‘em.

May He remember all your meal offerings
And accept your burnt offering! Selah
May He grant you your heart’s desire

I was gonig to post another piece until I came across the great 2013 recording by Joan Chamorro’s jazz kids. Chamorro (first name pronounced “Juan” despite the spelling) is a teacher in the Barcelona Spain school system which, speaking from the standpoint of a former teacher, has got to be the rewarding place to work in the entire world. The school systems supports the now famous Sant Andreu Jazz Band which under the direction of Joan, has been finding talented young Spanish kids and teaching to be absolutely killer jazz musicians. This recording from ’13 is just stunningly good. I have to say, when I hear great jazz like this, I just have to sit back and let the music wash over me. I hope it does it for you too.

Yep. And this wasn’t just a “test”. They really grabbed the music
and ran with it. They clearly “got it” thanks to Joan teaching. Man I wish I could go to Barcelona, become 14 or so again, and have Joan teach me how to improvise jass riffis the way these kids can.

It’s Cursday, Treepers. The relationship between old dogs and their people sometimes changes to such an extendt that they end up in shelters where they are often just abandoned to a lonely and confusing life, waiting frutlessly for “their people” the people they’ve lived with for years . . . who sadly aren’t coming back. There are more than a few ignorant “authorities” who tell us that dogs (cats, too) don’e experience emotions the sam way homans do and so attributing human emotions, like loss or emotional upset, is improper. This is completely wrong. Because of their long association with humans they try, as much as they can, to reflect human emotions. They feel love and loss and confusion the same way we do. But, because of the lace of human intellect, they feel these emotions without the ability to make the kind of abstract comparisons we can make. It’s all too real for them as a result.

If I may, I’d like to post a passage from one of my favorite books, Home Waters by Joseph Monninger. This is a story about a last fishing trip with his beloved but aging golden retriever, Nellie. This being Christmas time, I can highly recommend this story as a gift or as a fireside gift for yourself. This is the kind of story that, if I’m traveling, I always like to have with me.

I put my fly-rod up and found a comfortable spot to watch the stars come out. Nellie came to sit beside me. I scooted around and put my head on her back, using her for a headrest, but she didn’t seem to mind. Cold air swept above us, yet near the ground it did not feel too bad. We watched the planets appear, then the stars. The sky grew darker until each star stood out, white against black against the gray of the mountaintops. Nellie remained stationary, only her nose sniffing into the wind. She did not budge for an hour, and by that time the stars had eaten into the blackness, shuddering white in a cold sky.”

Very good news! A doctor with impeccable credentials announces a CURE for Covid-19.
He testified before a senate committee on December 8. It is the legacy drug ivermectin (widely known as an apple-flavored preparation for de-worming horses). He says it works for both prophylaxis and treatment.
He urged the NIH to review their paper. This takes the specter of mandated vaccines off the table, doesn’t it? Big Pharma will not be happy. Good.

Here’s an interesting exercise.

Go to biblegateway.com, or use a real Bible if you have one (King James Version).

You may have to CHOOSE the King James Version when you get to biblegateway.com, as it may default to a more modern version of the Bible.

Go to Ezekiel, Chapter 38 (you can type Ezekiel 38 in the search bar, and it will take you right there)

Now, scroll to the bottom, and start reading in THIS order:

Verse 23, verse 22, verse 21…all the way to verse 1,

THEN

Immediately go to Ezekiel 37, and do the same thing, start reading at verse 28 and go backwards to verse 1.

That blonde in the shimmy dress might be Goldie Hawn; her early days as a go-go dancer.

There’s a definite resemblance. Whoever she is, I love how she just keeps on dancing in place and smiling when Lindsay grabs her. I would have fainted!

Wow, I guess vids are a little scrambled. The first vid I posted was a performance of Good Thing by Mark Lindsay, Paul Revere and the Raiders. That one had the go-go girls in it.
Then I posted the Great Danes photo montage video, set to the song “Good Thing”.
Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t That Peculiar” was posted below.
Sorry about all that, but thanks for clicking!

Anyone else see this story? Democrats pay Imran Awan & other $850,00 to settle harassment claims? And Biden taps Awan’s collaborator Xavier Becerra for HHS boss.

Yes, but there is more to the story. Apparently Marvin Gaye kicked the tar out of his father before his father shot him in retaliation. Marvin felt that his father had been abusing his mother. Either way, the father was apparently a bit strange.

THE OFFERING OF THE NATURAL

“Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.” Gal. iv. 22

Paul is not dealing with sin in this chapter of Galatians, but with the relation of the natural to the spiritual. The natural must be turned into the spiritual by sacrifice, otherwise a tremendous divorce will be produced in the actual life. Why should God ordain the natural to be sacrificed? God did not. It is not God’s order, but His permissive will. God’s order was that the natural should be transformed into the spiritual by obedience; it is sin that made it necessary for the natural to be sacrificed.

Abraham had to offer up Ishmael before he offered up Isaac. Some of us are trying to offer up spiritual sacrifices to God before we have sacrificed the natural. The only way in which we can offer a spiritual sacrifice to God is by presenting our bodies a living sacrifice. Sanctification means more than deliverance from sin, it means the deliberate commitment of myself whom God has saved to God, and that I do not care what it costs.

If we do not sacrifice the natural to the spiritual, the natural life will mock at the life of the Son of God in us and produce a continual swither. This is always the result of an undisciplined spiritual nature. We go wrong because we stubbornly refuse to discipline ourselves, physically, morally or mentally. “I wasn’t disciplined when I was a child.” You must discipline yourself now. If you do not, you will ruin the whole of your personal life for God.

God is not with our natural life while we pamper it; but when we put it out in the desert and resolutely keep it under, then God will be with it; and He will open up wells and oases, and fulfil all His promises for the natural.

Is this a curse. Before 2015 i didn’t read about politic and didn’t care to vote cause I live in CA. After being red pill or understand how the corrupt system work I started seeing it everywhere and everywhere I go. Corporation, stock market, local government, everywhere there it is it’s all intertwine. As sundance say, once you seen it you can’t unseen it. Life sometime is less unhappy with what’s going on around you. I’m very thankful with knowing what I know now but someday I yearn for the simple life when I don’t know anything.

Hello everyone. A poster mentioned last Saturday that her husband had been hospitalized with Covid.

I believe her name is Val. I remember her saying she was in a truck outside the hospital, and was planning to spend the night there, as she was unable to drive the truck.

She asked for prayers, and she has stayed on my mind and in my prayers.

I’m wondering if she has posted an update.

Thanks.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
