Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

“Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.” – Elizabeth Lawrence
Lovely! Our fall here in this part of the midwest has been blah in the extreme.
It’s quite beautiful in the Idaho Panhandle. Most of our trees are evergreens…here’s a list from the USDA….
NORTH IDAHO EVERGREENS
Douglas-fir (Red Fir), Englemann Spruce, Grand fir (White Fir), Lodgepole Pine, Mountain Hemlock, Pacific Yew, Ponderosa Pine (Yellow Pine), Subalpine fir, Western Hemlock, Western Larch (Tamarack), Western Red Cedar, Western White Pine, Whitebark Pine
NORTH IDAHO BROADLEAF TREES
Black Cottonwood, Quaking Aspen, Western Paper Birch
Several houses in my area have oaks and their leaves are always in my flower beds. I fantasize about sending them gardening bills. LOL!
The beauty that God created is just amazing! Instead of regular leaves that fall we have these.

Interesting to view/hear different cellists’ interpretations of Bach’s works. The woman here playing beautifully but a tad too properly IMO is Lucia Swarts and her interpretation’s length is at 17:07 minutes for all six movements.
The versatile Mischa Maisky comes in at 19:14 minutes and he plays in a wonderful room with seemingly no audience. Yo-Yo Ma is at 17:40; I’ve always found him a bit boring, not totally, though; and he is THE most famous cellist in the world which has to mean something. Luka Sulic’s is by far more robust and passionate than the others at less than 14 minutes plus he is so handsome to watch.
Maisky’s version is my favorite even though it is at times too slow for my taste. However, he is such a master of the cello he can put a person through a myriad of emotions that one is rather wrung out–but happily–at the end.
I recommend them all plus more on YouTube. I never get tired of 1007 and listen to it from multiple masters every day. Keeps me sane.
BTW, Mischa’s version was posted on October 15, 2011 and had 43,118,199 views when I watched it a few minutes ago. Not bad!
Lucille, that’s so encouraging! So nice to know so many continue to seek out and enjoy this timeless music.
Thanks for posting this.
You’re welcome, piper! I listened to Mischa just a while ago and he’s at 43,134,370. So people are definitely listening to him more and more. And he’s got that great head of hair which adds to his air of romance…LOL!
I first seriously listened to this on a Segovia LP where he played his transcription for guitar. The tonal nuances are different on guitar but the essential integrity of Bach’s intent is still there. What really holds Bach’s music (indeed Baroque music itself) together is counterpoint. If anything, owing to the guitar’s versatility, made Bach’s counterpoint even more vivid. Listening to Segovia play Bach was a great introduction, if somewhat heretical, to the master.
The Prelude only….

I rarely missed a Segovia concert. Once, when he was at Jones Hall in Houston, he had a memory slip in the middle of the “Earl of Aylesford” pieces by Handel. I was listening along when suddenly I thought, “Oops, that’s not right!”. Segovia had, indeed, messed up a few bars but he improvised without missing a beat and faked it so well that the only way you’d know is if you were very familiar with the music. While the audience never knew what happened, us guitar players most certainly did. We were all more than a little astonished that Segovia could improvise so well that he actually sounded just like Handel.
What a wonderful memory for you. I used to have season tickets for the Los Angeles Philharmonic but I never got to hear Segovia. YouTube has to suffice and this vid I posted shows what a sweetly humble man he was, too.
Thank you, Garrison! A beautiful way to start a Monday! I thought her simplicity was touching. A marvelous musician!
Bach is so able to center my emotions and bring calm. I think I’ll be pulling him out more these coming weeks as my anxiety battles against the peace I’ve been offered by God.
I’m most familiar with Mstislav Rostropovich’s recording of these suites. Was able to hear him play at the Kennedy Center in the early 90s. He was the NSO’s conductor then.
We had his (Rostropovich) record in the college years…you are so fortunate to have seen him perform live.
Now is the time to pray people of God for our country and our president.Rest assured the forces of darkness,satanists/witches/warlocks are praying for the destruction of our nation and this president.Let God arise and His enemies be scattered.Father ,we thank you that your hand is upon our president mightily,we cover him with the precious shed blood of Jesus Christ, and decree and declare Zachariah 2;5 over him and his family..Let the fire of your glory surround them and that no witchcraft,no voodoo,no hex,no vex,no curse no power,no principality and no demon in hell shall prosper against them.Father we ask that you dispatch legions of your warring angelic hosts to destroy every plot and plan of the enemy.Father let your anointing rest strongly upon him at all times and our nation is brought totally back to you.Father ,we praise you,we glorify you in the name above all names ,Jesus Christ,King of Kings,Lord of Lords and soon to return Messiah,Amen.
1 John 4:2-4
2 Hereby shall ye know the Spirit of God, Every spirit which confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God: but this is the spirit of Antichrist, of whom ye have heard, how that he should come, and now already he is in this world.
4 Little children, ye are of God, and have overcome them: for GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, than he that is in this world.
If He Be Able
By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam
“Either his uncle… or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him, or, if he be able, he may redeem himself” (Lev. 25:49).
Under Old Testament law one who had failed in business could sell himself, or be sold, into slavery, his master paying off his debts in lieu of salary. The slave could be redeemed, however, by his uncle or any near relative who could afford to pay off his debts, or, says our passage: “if he be able, he may redeem himself.”
“If he be able”! Significant qualification, for what bankrupt slave was ever able to redeem himself!
In this way God would teach us an important lesson about salvation from sin. All of us have failed in business, as it were. We have amassed a huge debt of sin against God and our fellowmen, and have become morally and spiritually bankrupt.
We have many who are “nigh of kin” to us, but they are unable to redeem us because they themselves are bankrupt sinners. There is One, however, who has an infinite store of righteousness with which to pay our debt and redeem us. Indeed, He did pay the penalty for all our sins when He, the Holy One, died in shame and disgrace as a sinner on Calvary’s cross.
He, the Lord Jesus Christ, is our blessed Kinsman Redeemer, for as Adam’s children “are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same” (Heb. 2:14) that He might redeem Jew and Gentile; “made [for] a little [while] lower than the angels for the suffering of death …that He by the grace of God, should taste death for every man” (Heb. 2:9).
There are many, alas, who will not face up to their condition. They somehow think that they can still redeem themselves. To them God says: “Do it, if you are able!” To the rich young ruler who asked, “What must I do to inherit eternal life,” the Lord said “You know the law… this do, and you will live.”
But who of us has perfectly kept the law of God? Who of us is not a repeated law-breaker in the sight of God? Who is able to redeem himself? Why not then turn from self to Christ, our rich Kinsman Redeemer, “In whom we have redemption, through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7).

Leviticus 25:49 Either his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself.
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Romans 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Rom 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

fantastic! thx, Lucille
Wonderful, isn’t it, to see the many Roman ruins. After visiting a museum showing of Roman plumbing one time, I realized that our present-day plumbing is pretty much the same.
It was just happenstance finding the photos and article on Ephesus when checking out Roman amphitheaters in the Balkans. I’d just viewed the 2CELLOS 2013 concert at Pula, Croatia and wanted to learn more about the city. One thing leads to another and before I knew it, I’d spent 4-5 hours just foolin’ around on the Net.
I was surprised at the amount of Roman ruins I got to see in England and Scotland while I lived there. Some of it still in use!
Wonderful, JTR! A good friend was born and lived in Bath until emigrating to North America in the late 1950s.

Dora, that’s a lovely, peaceful artwork. Interested in the size of the painting, I looked it up and found it is 28 1/2 x 36 1/4 in. (framed: 37 x 44 3/4 x 3 in). The oil on canvas depicting Brittany, France is owned by the Saint Louis Art Museum.
So, yes, it’s a perfect size and subject for my guest bedroom. I’ll take it. LOL!
Sounds like it could be true. 🙄

Nelson Rockefeller 1991
“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national determination practiced in past centuries.” (David Rockefeller, speaking at the June 1991, Bilderberg meeting in Baden-Baden, Germany June 1991.)

Poor old Nelson died (in flagrante delicto) in 1979. So the David Rockefeller reference is the correct one. My being a Democrat in those days, Nelson was the only Republican I ever voted for until George W. Bush, but only because I did not want Barry Goldwater to win the 1964 CA primary (sorry, Barry, truly!).
I mistyped…David Rockefeller made the quote (as indicated at the end of the quote).

THE UNHEEDED SECRET
“My kingdom is not of this world.” John xviii. 36
The great enemy to the Lord Jesus Christ in the present day is the conception of practical work that has not come from the New Testament, but from the systems of the world in which endless energy and activities are insisted upon, but no private life with God. The emphasis is put on the wrong thing. Jesus said, “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation, for lo the kingdom of God is within you,” a hidden, obscure thing. An active Christian worker too often lives in the shop window. It is the innermost of the innermost that reveals the power of the life.
We have to get rid of the plague of the spirit of the religious age in which we live. In Our Lord’s life there was none of the press and rush of tremendous activity that we regard so highly, and the disciple is to be as His Master. The central thing about the kingdom of Jesus Christ is a personal relationship to Himself, not public usefulness to men.
It is not its practical activities that are the strength of this Bible Training College, its whole strength lies in the fact that here you are put into soak before God. You have no idea of where God is going to engineer your circumstances, no knowledge of what strain is going to be put on you either at home or abroad, and if you waste your time in over-active energies instead of getting into soak on the great fundamental truths of God’s Redemption, you will snap when the strain comes; but if this time of soaking before God is being spent in getting rooted and grounded in God on the unpractical line, you will remain true to Him whatever happens.
