What the Potential Crisis on the Yangtze Means for China and the World

    Aug 5th, 2020

    KEY TAKEAWAYS
    1. As if 2020 has not been sufficiently crisis-laden for the People’s Republic of China, it now faces the potential for major catastrophe due to massive rains.

    2. The massive runoff into the Yangtze has led to concerns that the Three Gorges Dam will be overstressed beyond its capacity to withstand the inflow.

    3. The flooding of the Yangtze will have enormous effects in China and beyond, especially since the threat of dam collapse coincides with several other domestic crises.

White privilege is going to a funeral without being shot

MADISON, Wis. — Three people were shot Tuesday night in Madison while attending a memorial service for a homicide victim.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. as several hundred people, including children, were at Garner Park honoring the life of Maurice Bowman, who was shot and killed ten days ago on Shroeder Road.

Madison police described the scene as chaotic during a press conference Wednesday afternoon. Officers could reportedly see muzzle flashes as they ran into the park.

“People were fleeing into the neighborhoods, hiding in backyards, hiding behind trees, trying to escape the shooting,” Wahl said. …

    • Was this gang on gang violence?

If one gang is at war with another gang, should the gang soldiers be given immunity for killing the enemy?

If soldiers were given immunity for killing the enemy, but not given immunity for killing a civilian, it would be worth it for the gangsters to take better aim, and we could see a drop in civilian casualties.
Immunity could also reduce the disproportionate amount of black males in prison.
Fewer innocent victims, fewer black males in prison, what do you think?

    Just another left wing hypocrite…..

Robert Reich, a left-wing professor at the University of California Berkeley who served as labor secretary during the Clinton administration, is very concerned about income inequality. He urged Wall Street executives to “invest” in cities by funding low-income housing projects. He also praised a “promising initiative” to promote the construction of affordable housing units in San Francisco.

Reich is not so keen, however, on a proposal to tear down a dilapidated building in his Berkeley neighborhood and replace it with a 10-unit development that would include low-income housing.

Reich and some of his wealthy neighbors are imploring the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission to designate the dilapidated structure, known as the Payson House, as a Berkeley landmark in order to stop the proposed development. In a letter to the commission, Reich said the proposed housing units would destroy the “charm of an older era of Berkeley” and likened the developers’ actions to “the illegal practices and corrupt politics of the late nineteenth century.”

“If historic preservation means anything, it means maintaining enough of the character of an older neighborhood to remind people of its history and provide continuity with the present,” Reich wrote. “Development for the sake of development makes no sense when it imposes social costs like this.”

Attorney General James Files Lawsuit to Dissolve NRA

AG James’ Action Will Hold Powerful Gun Group Accountable

Lawsuit Details Years of Illegal Self-Dealing That Funded Lavish Lifestyle of NRA Leaders

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James today filed a lawsuit seeking to dissolve the National Rifle Association (NRA), the largest and most influential pro-gun organization in the nation. Attorney General James charges the organization with illegal conduct because of their diversion of millions of dollars away from the charitable mission of the organization for personal use by senior leadership, awarding contracts to the financial gain of close associates and family, and appearing to dole out lucrative no-show contracts to former employees in order to buy their silence and continued loyalty. The suit specifically charges the NRA as a whole, as well as Executive Vice-President Wayne LaPierre, former Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Wilson “Woody” Phillips, former Chief of Staff and the Executive Director of General Operations Joshua Powell, and Corporate Secretary and General Counsel John Frazer with failing to manage the NRA’s funds and failing to follow numerous state and federal laws, contributing to the loss of more than $64 million in just three years for the NRA.https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2020/attorney-general-james-files-lawsuit-dissolve-nra

Do you think Joe Biden’s handlers will find a way
to help him wiggle out of doing the three debates?

“It’s all but certain that Team Biden or their consultants are feverishly polling and focus grouping how much damage will be done to Biden if he either backs out, or imposes conditions to which he knows Trump would not agree (e.g., wearing of masks if the debate is in-person, or doing the debate remotely via video link). That damage will be weighed against the potential damage from Biden appearing disoriented and diminished during three 90-minute debates.

Joe Biden did okay in the primary debates because he was limited to very short segments, with so many other people on the stage to take up time. But 90 minutes is a really long time. Even sympathetic questioners can’t stop Trump from attacking Biden directly.

So, will Biden debate Trump?” ~ Professor Wm. Jacobson at Legal Insurrection.

I have watched very very few of the Biden videos posted because I believe it is immoral to watch him making such a fool of himself, but it is obvious that it is inconceivable that he could stand on a stage and answer anything coherently, with or without a debater present.

My money is on him saying he will debate just one time. And on or just before the day of the debate there is going to be a massive event that probably kills a bunch of Americans and they declare that the event just isn’t safe enough for the candidates. At which point PDJT will say he’s perfectly comfortable with going forward with the debate but Biden will use that as his excuse. He will then say (well his campaign will say, cause God knows Biden can’t say anything) that PDJT lacks a moral compass if he thinks it’s OK to go ahead with the debates after the loss of so much American life. And they will claim he’s a narcissist for wanting to have the debates and draw attention from the grieving Americans.

All the while, hundreds of more Americans will be sacrificed just because this guy can’t go on stage and debate another human being. This is my prediction and I’m sticking to it.

And they think they are slick because they will get PDJT to agree before hand that it will just be the one debate, so they won’t have to do this multiple times.

As someone who wasted his youth on a worthless law degree, I can tell you that the US has way too many lawyers, and way too many law schools. The job market for lawyer collapsed about 10 years ago, and law schools responded by pushing social justice activism as a recruitment tool. They’re training movie lawyers, instead of real ones, and jacking up tuition to ridiculous levels. The graduates come out financially ruined, propagandized, and barely employable. I repaid my loans by leaving the field and working construction, and I wish I’d never wasted my time on it. They send me alumni donation request forms, trumpeting their new social justice initiatives.

The leftists’ responses completely discard his concern as non-existent. They are so radical that they are oblivious to what they have done to us and how it is dividing the country, though others stated that they are living in the same limbo.

[My city] is similar to Austin or Seattle or Portland in that it’s a deeply Progressive city surrounded by a rural conservative population (big difference is that there are more African-Americans here). I’m from [a small town in this state], but after serving for six years as an Army Infantry Officer, my wife and our two kids settled in [this area] because there is little opportunity in the rest of the state.

I say this all because I feel like I’m living on a fault line between the two sides of this civil war we are talking about. Ten minutes south of me they are protesting for Black Lives Matter and demanding government mandated shutdowns over COVID; ten minutes north of me they are holding outdoor high school graduations and Back the Blue rallies. My wife and I are conservative Christians who are very active in our church; our next door neighbors and good friends both work for universities and are very liberal. We hang out several times a week and get along well but avoid talking about anything that could lead to uncomfortable conversations. I’d like to think that we model what a good friendship across party lines is but I don’t have much faith in that.

“New York’s attorney general sued the National Rifle Association on Thursday, seeking to put the powerful gun advocacy organization out of business over allegations that high-ranking executives diverted millions of dollars for lavish personal trips, no-show contracts for associates and other questionable expenditures.”

I told my daughters that it couldn’t be anything big because President Trump has been the most investigated human on this planet and they have NOT come up with anything!

    Mark it down..

Today the NRA is around 5.5 million.

With this lawsuit, by the end of the year they will have over 7 million members.

And if PT tweets out something they could get to 9 million

Look for the boomerang effect here.

NRA should dissolve itself and immediately reformulate as the National Riflepersons Association, the new entity should then purchase for $1 all of the assets of the prior dissolved NRA including member lists, logos, etc.

The mail-in voting, and its attendant Democrat elections fraud, could mean the difference between indictments of the members of the coup, a GOP House, Senate, and POTUS, on the one hand, and a Dem House, Dem Senate, and Dem POTUS, with charges against the coup members dropped by the incoming Dem DOJ and the Senate filibuster dropped, on the other hand. Mail-in voting could really make the difference between the saving of the country vs. the final destruction of it.

I watch/follow a fair amount of sports ( I know, I know…I imagine its a bit like trying to quit smoking). As they gear up there have been A LOT OF “false positive” tests for China Flu. Typical headling: “so and so put on Covid list, activated two days later because initial test was false positive…”

Do these large amounts of false positives add to the case count? Do they go back afterwards and remove a person with a false positive from the case count? I think I know the answer….

    • Eric C. says:

My understanding is they report positives as a case, regardless if it’s a re-test. Also, I haven’t heard where any test is removed after being reported.

So, theoretically, 10 positives are added. Later they test negative showing a false positive. There is now 10 more “COVID” cases.

Nuts, I tell you, completely nuts. Imagine what the H1N1 numbers would be if they did this crazy stuff. We probably would’ve had 2 million plus H1N1 deaths instead of the 100,000 to 500,000 the CDC “estimates” (funny there is no over inflation of numbers when there is no financial assistance to make everything “COVID”).

There it is. The media had too much of a vested interest in the lies they spread about RussiaRussiaRussia to even cover something that goes against their narrative.

It will be interesting watching how they either spin or refuse to cover more details and perhaps indictments of the people in the coup. They don’t WANT the truth to come out.

And if it does, they’ll do all they can to avoid covering it.

Sad, it shouldn’t be this way, but what a better way to keep a narrative going that produce a fabricated positive test of a Person who was supposed to travel/meet the President.

I’d love to not be cynical, but the left has created it with 24/7 narrative pushing in one direction.

Is this not sedition? This man is calling on the the DOJ to not follow the orders of their superiors?

And another thing, we don’t need any more proof that these people were in fact conducting a coup. Think about this from a logical stand point. If you were part of the Mueller team and in fact were A-Political, wouldn’t you be non-defensive when things came up about the case?

I for one, would simply say, “Hey, we had intelligence we needed to follow up on to make sure the President wasn’t a Russian plant. All of our findings came out that he was NOT a Russian plant and did not collude with Russia. And because of this I am very happy. And I am perfectly happy if they wish to investigate our sources and methods as we did not do anything wrong. This is good for America.”

But nope, they go out and Shred the Presidents character 24/7 and write books insinuating he’s still in bed with the Russians. EVEN THOUGH, they investigated him with the entire MIGHT AND RESOURCES of the most “most powerful” law enforcement group in the world and didn’t find anything.

HELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO PEOPLE!!! These are the actions of enemies. People that have guilt/hate and are desperate to hide it. This is not rocket science. And what’s truly pathetic is that these are supposed to be the best investigators and spies in the world. Yet they didn’t think to take the position that I have posted in this blog? They could probably have swayed a lot of middle thinking Americans if they had taken this path and just said they were happy they didn’t find anything but they had to act. If I heard that I know I might stop and think, well, these guys are admitting it and they don’t seem to be carrying a chip on their shoulders, so maybe their is some truth to it or at very least some honest people involved. But nope, they’ve gone full on 7th grader and dug in and made matters much much worse, and much much more obvious.

I will add, even if they had said what I am suggesting they should have said, I personally would never have believed them because I know the left are scum bags. But a lot of middle thinking Americans who simply don’t pay enough attention would have been swayed, I guarantee it. And Trump would have looked bad to many of them for having the AG look into it.

Outbreaks of a polio-like” paralyzing illness have been around for years, brought into school districts in NJ and Colorado by migrant children. Before then, illegal alien kids brought the dangerous RSV respiratory infection into the USA, not to mention the measles and other preventable disease outbreaks.

ohnoyoudonot posted info by Colleen Huber, NMD early today re: possible negative effects from wearing a mask all day.
I won’t go into a debate on the post but i have some questions of my own.

    1. There have been reports about masks cutting the flow of oxygen in half.
    How can that be safe?

    2. Reports about masks trapping carbon dioxide from your exhale which is then rebreathed into the lungs. PS the lungs are one of the ways the body detoxifies …

So, where are the Climate warriers who are death on anything in our country which puts CO2 into the air? How can rebreathing your exhale be safe?

And that’s not even addressing how many times a day the wearer ‘handles’ the mask – adjusting, removing, mask below nose catches nose exhale, reattaching. Scary to watch IMHO

My oxygen level did not decrease when I wore different kinds of masks in trials. I used a pulse oximeter and the percentage did not go below 95%. I don’t like masks, and I wish we had a good scientific argument against wearing them, but I’m not sure this is the argument to use. Maybe someone else has had a different result, but mine did not support that claim.

I was in the grocery store yesterday; they give 10% to people over 55 on the first Wednesday of every month so I asked for mine. Guy behind me in line jokingly says ‘check her id’ — I say I am eligible. He says, ‘you think I am? Guess how old I am’, and I say, ‘I cannot even see your face to tell with that mask on.’

Never saw someone tear something off so quickly. Still, I guessed his age to be five years more than he was. Guess mask-wearing ages you, too . . .

Fox News is compelled to have testimony from Assange.

“Thus, evidence regarding the source of the leaked DNC emails and the communications (if any) between Seth Rich and WikiLeaks will be highly material to Fox’s contentions that the article was not a “sham” as asserted by Plaintiffs, that the Plaintiffs cannot prove falsity, and highly material to Fox’s contention that they were not engaged in any outrageous behavior, against the Riches: Fox was pursuing a story that was substantially true. Mr. Assange, as founder of WikiLeaks, is exceptionally suited to provide testimony that will be highly relevant to these issues. Therefore, Fox News, by and through this letter of request issued by the District Court, is formally requesting the testimony of Mr. Assange for use at trial.

    The Parties
The Plaintiffs are Joel Rich and Mary Rich, individuals residing in the State of Nebraska, United States.

The Defendants are Fox News Network, LLC, a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in New York, as well as Malia Zimmerman and Ed Butowsky, individuals residing in California and Texas, respectively.
    Status of the proceedings

Fact discovery has commenced and currently is scheduled to close on December 31, 2020. In accordance with the U.S. rules on evidence gathering, witness evidence, including the evidence sought pursuant to this application, needs to be obtained within the prescribed discovery window, as opposed to during the trial itself. That evidence, including the testimony sought from Mr. Assange, will be used at the trial for this action, which has not yet been scheduled.”

So unless the testimony is leaked, this will occur after the election, unless anyone feels the urgency for another reason.

Can someone explain to me, given all the talk about mail in ballots… no debates, or having debates after voting has started…. and the safety of voting in person….
Why cant we have 2 or even 3 days of voting at the assigned precincts that have been used for the last presidential election? They could assign your day depending on last name in the alphabet, if need be. But even that could be voluntary.

These are unusual times that require common sense solutions. We have closed down our country because of this thing, there is no reason we can’t vote safely. No need to have weeks of counting ballots, or cost of more machines. Only cost would be for personnel. But, who could complain about that when those same people would be needed for counting all these mail in ballots for a lot longer!

    CALPERS CIO just resigned.

CIO Meng worked at the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) of the People’s Republic of China prior to joining CALPERS, the California pension fund

    • WSB says:

”Earlier this year, Meng, a U.S. citizen who grew up in China, was accused by Republican Congressman Jim Banks of being a tool for the Chinese government, funneling American money into Chinese hands.

The allegations centered around a three-year stint Meng did from 2015 helping oversee China’s $3 trillion in currency reserves. During that time, he was deputy CIO of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, or SAFE.

      Wall Street Support

Meng was hired for his job at the Chinese fund via a government recruitment plan known as the Thousand Talents Program. That, according to Banks, likely includes a lifelong mission to support Chinese authorities.

Meng rejected Banks’s claims and said his connections with Thousand Talents ended when he left SAFE. He was supported by prominent Wall Street investors including Oaktree Capital Group LLC founder Howard Marks, and Stephen Schwarzman, chief executive officer of private equity firm Blackstone Group Inc.

Calpers manages pension money for about two million current and former California public servants. According to its own research, it needs to alter its approach or it’s likely to come up shy of its target over the long haul.”
