Another 6.6 Million People File Unemployment Claims This Week…

The news is horrific.  The Dept. of Labor release today shows another whopping 6.6 million people filed for unemployment compensation last week.  That brings the total over the past three weeks to over sixteen million.

With 16 million people filing unemployment claims, the actual rate of unemployment is likely well into double digits [13% to 16%, possibly higher].  The COVID-19 shut down has completely collapsed major segments of the U.S. economy.

WASHINGTON – […] For the week ending March 21, 3.3 million people filed new unemployment claims, easily shattering the previous record set in 1982 of 695,000. Last week, that astounding figure doubled, as 6.6 million people filed claims for the week ending March 28 — a figure that was revised upward to 6.9 million in the new release.

Thursday’s figure was at the high end of analyst estimates, which ranged from 4.5 million to 7 million. (more)

I think this is over soon…everything is artificially suppressed, people are getting wise, once President Trump says GO, the economy is going to go boom! Question is, what will the commies next move be?

456-dimensional chess, correct? We just have to sit back and watch?

We all want the President to succeed. But he needs to win a glorious recovery. An economy in shambles with 10million Americans unemployed is not going to get our President re-elected. What some of his closest advisors are advocating right now make the days of ‘collusion’ and Kavanaugh and the Billy Bush tape look like a picnic in the park.

If it truly takes 4-8 weeks to reopen the economy then there is 0% chance I will vote for Trump or anyone at that point. This is complete madness and sorry to say but this is 100% ON TRUMP. HE IS the PRESIDENT…….he needs to sack up and open things NOW or I’ll just assume he is in on this scam with the rest of them and we’ve all been played.

Kills me to feel this way…starting to feel like in 2nd term of Bush when I realized the GOP played us. If Trump wants to crash the economy the next step will be civil war. Just like with sessions, you get a certain amount of grace period and then at a certain point its go time or get out of the way. Not saying this is easy but at what point do you stop blaming everyone but the man in charge. If this was obama, we all would be screaming about it. So sorry but Trump is hanging by a thread right now for my support and my job will not be hurt by any of this.

Every last one of you saying you’re done with PDJT or are going to sit it out in Nov. or in any way Monday morning quarterbacking this man, you need to bite your tongue and keep that offensive, disloyal, CRAP to yourselves!!

How dare you judge the decisions this man has had to make these past weeks and months?!!!

When the “experts” were warning of MILLIONS dying, do you think he gave a shit about the economy that he built? Consider that? He’s always been so proud of all the economic indicators and took pleasure reciting them in tweets and at rallies (The GDP is x, when we were told it could’t happen so quickly, African American unemployment lower than ever in history, etc.)

Now, because he was misled with predictions based on Fauci Bear’s flawed (purposely?) models, all this blame comes spewing out from SUPPORTERS? Shut up!

The man has a heart, and I guarantee you he cried literal tears at the thought of what we were going to experience with such a loss of life in the millions. I can hear him say “not on my watch.”

What good is a soaring economy when to your right and to your left, coworkers, family members, and friends are literally dropping like flies? When hospitals are overflowing, with makeshift morgues, cries for equipment, and PPE, and we’re quarantined away from life as we knew it.

He was optimistic at first — then he considered that maybe this was our Spanish Flu.

I love him more for his humanity in all this. For him to sign the legislation to put cash directly into our bank accounts and to for once include us 1099 independent contractors in SBA loans/grants and unemployment, well, I felt like my Dad was still alive.

Always honest without sugar-coating and to the end optimistic. He said it’s bad… very, very bad. But we grew the economy faster than ever before when he took office and said if “we” did it before, we’ll do it again.

I can read criticism almost everywhere else online. Bullduram and the rest of you who have “had it” please just keep it to yourself.

Spare us all the lecture. The President is a man, fallable like the rest of us. Is he trying to do what he thinks best? I’m sure most of us would say yes. Was it the right course of action? 16 million jobless claims would indicate that to be no.

It is fake. coworkers, family members, and friends are not literally dropping like flies. hospitals are not overflowing, there are no makeshift morgues, cries for equipment are fake politics.

Trump is not your Dad. He is there to balance the interests of the population and he must not engender a 1930s depression through some misguided saving of humanity. The tradeoff is a few thousand deaths (no worse than usual for flu) against the dissolution of the republic and mass poverty on a scale the USA has never seen. Even if the tradeoff is 2 million deaths it would still be right.
Destroying a nation is not saving it.

I am not being hyperbolic here. the USA is on the brink of collapse from this behaviour and POTUS needs to step up and halt this now. Demanding no there be no criticism is childish. We are not children who have to sit and wait for teacher to tell us when things are correct, or when we can go outside. That path lies infantilization of the worst kind.

Its time to be an adult and recognize this.

I haven’t lost my faith in our President, but unless he has an absolute ace card he can use to expose and destroy this fraud and needs to wait a little longer to play his hand, he has a decision to make, a decision that must be made

He must decide no later than a week, two at the absolute longest, to reopen the country for business or not

Whichever one he chooses has the potential to be devastating to his presidency and our country, but only one can lead to victory and glory

Opening the country and being wrong will be no different than allowing the shutdown to continue. Both will be nation crushing losses

But opening the country back up and being correct in doing so because the whole episode was fraudulent and/or blown way out of proportion would not only be glorious for the country and it’s people, but would also crush the opposition and put Trump on a pedestal

Mr. President, using your own words, “what the hell do you got to lose?”

I’m reading that PDJT cannot force the States to discontinue Stay at Home SAH) orders…orders that were issued by State Governors. I’m thinking DJT has some leverage over the States as I suppose he could stop federal dollars from going to the States.

But I think the State Governors do not care. Pelosi and her crew are going to make re-opening the economy as difficult as thy can.

So instead of condemning President Trump, perhaps you should be organizing a march/protest at your State Governor’s Office.

THIS IS AS SERIOUS AS IT GETS.

Hey GH, ya want to show me where I condemned the President?

My point was if he declares the country open for business, large segments of the country would start opening again, leaving only the hardcore leftist democrat governor States to stay in lock down, and if there’s no drastic rise in virus cases, those governors will be exposed as the tyrants they are and the people will rebel

Again, I was talking about the severe consequences of going along with the shut down versus taking a chance and doing something

There was no condemnation of the President

Yes this is as serious as it gets, not only for America ( American Exceptionalism, as Rush Limbaugh says), but also for the rest of the Free World! IF America goes down, WHAT is left?

We never hear anything on MSM, about the pain & suffering caused business people & everyone working in Gov’t is still getting paid! And ironically, the Gov’t has no money of it’s own, just taxpayer’s money & what the Federal Gov’t prints for it’s own use, that causes inflation.

IMO, Donald J. Trump should sign an Executive Order to immediately open-up the Economy, saying that (for the people that watch the MSM) that CHINA & her Globalist puppets started this Chinese Virus Scam ( a Socialist’s Wet Dream).

He should offer a $100 million tax-free grant for anyone or any company Worldwide that develops Instant Scanning Software that can read whethere someone has the Covid 19 virus. Hell, paint suppliers have had software-analysis of a paint sample for many yrs. now that can give you the %’s of each color in the mix.

And get his own “qualified experts” like DR. Shiva to advise him on this Chinese Virus Scam.

Trump was elected with 60 to 65 million votes before & if he “saves America again”, guaranteed that he will pick-up many more voters! HOW many people that you know that actually want America to be a Socialist Country like Canada?

This reminds me of when Ted Kennedy in the 60’s saw that the American voters were not going to vote Democrat anymore, because of their radical agenda, so he opened up the borders to illegals, gave them Gov’t freebies & they will vote Democrat to keep the freebies coming!

… and, “guilt by association,” VP Pence is impeached at the same time. No one bothers to find a Constitutional cause.

“Because, at your watch, 20%+ of the population of your country found themselves unemployed within six to eight weeks, your employment has been terminated.”

Madame Presidente Nancy Pelosi is sworn in as “the devil we know.” Soon to be replaced by Hillary.

And – we know how corrupt she is, but we no longer care. “At least we have jobs.” The Deep State becomes the New Normal, never again to be questioned. “At least we have jobs.”

However, having just said that: probably the most-curious aspect of “this whole Coronavirus thing” is just how multi-national it is. Nations … even continents (Australia …) somehow acted as one.

I am really disappointed and distressed at the tone of so many posters on this thread. Granted, there are many new commenters, most of whom likely are some manner of trolls, but many long-time, legitimate posters are trashing Trump and, like spoiled little children, taking temper tantrums and threatening to stop supporting him. That is really insane and is exactly what the Democrats are hoping will happen.

I think Trump has been magnificent and is performing in extraordinary fashion under these extremely dire circumstances. He has unavoidably been placed in a box. He has been taking the counsel of people regarded as medical experts who we are now seeing don’t deserve that regard. He has been chomping at the bit to get America back to work but has had to take a very cautious approach. I believe he will do the right thing when he determines it to be the right time.

He didn’t order the states to shut down and he can’t order them to re-open. But he can use his bully pulpit to cajole them to re-open in phases. He will have to rely on public pressure within those reticent blue states to force their own governors to comply. Businesses will have to establish their own operating procedures for how to safely open.

God bless our truckers and grocers, etc, who have stayed in the fight to keep our food supply going. The same for the front-line medical and first responders who run into the very situations the rest of us are trying to avoid. But all of these posters who are cutting and running are just like the soldiers who deserted Washington at Valley Forge. Thomas Paine calls these people “Summer Soldiers.”

Jobless CLAIMS right? Doesn’t mean that many will actually qualify in the end? I’m not denying that millions of people have lost their jobs but I do know that some people that quit their jobs are trying to file and I know some 16 year olds trying to file. I don’t believe either of those people should qualify. So could these numbers, like everything else, be overblown to push a preferred narrative?
