I am going to post this again so that people understand what is going on, because there is a doomer on this thread giving out very bad information…not sure of this person’s true motivation, but I won’t allow bad information to pollute this thread…..I am in banking focused specifically to lending to doctors, so I KNOW how this works….and this is how they are fudging the mortality numbers.. my dad passed away last year due to complications of dementia…that was the cause of death on his certificate…it relates to IDC death codes and his was coded as dementia related….here was his circumstance….he was VERY ill at the time, bedridden and on a liquid diet, losing weight, barely holding on…. but he contracted the flu that developed into pneumonia….this is what really pushed him over the edge……BUT, his death code aligned with his existing dementia condition…today, under those same circumstances, my dad would been tagged as a Covid death, assuming he contract the virus……THAT’S THE DIFFERENCE….they are doing this all across the country, and Italy just admitted that ONLY 12 PERCENT of their deaths were directly related to the virus….this is why on the CDC website, there is a graph that shows as dramatic rise in Covid deaths and a just as dramatic decrease in deaths from all other causes…..remember, they only have so many dead bodies so they can’t double count because then the statistics will be skewed……there is a virus out there, but they are lying about its true potency in order to perhaps destroy Trump, tear the country down???…I POSTED YESTERDAY WHAT THEY ARE DOING IN NYC, proof positive that they are using the IDC Covid death code for ALL deaths, whether directly from Covid or “WITH Covid”……this is NOT a conspiracy theory, you can easily view CDC guidance on this..

In the English-speaking world outside the US (incl. UK, Australia, Canada, etc.) authorities are taking identical measures as the US, and their populations are following recommendations very similar as those in the US. In the EU and elsewhere, the same.

Are all these countries in on the conspiracy to lie about numbers etc. in order to “get” their citizens controlled, or to “get” PDJT? Or to tank their own economies?

I am hearing similar reports as you describe above, as government EXPLICITLY ADMIT that they are counting anyone who dies WITH the Wuhan Virus as being a “COVID-19 death.” Not surprisingly, the overall total morbidity rate despite this global “pandemic” is not rising anywhere on earth except in Northern Italy.

          • Due Gonzalez says:

Per the CDC website they are still working on official coding guidelines.
NCHS is receiving questions about how deaths involving the new coronavirus strain should be reported on
death certificates. We are working on formal guidance to certifiers to be published as soon as possible. In the meantime, to address the immediate need, here is some basic information that can be shared in advance of the more formal and detailed guidance. It is important to emphasize that Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death. Other terminology, e.g., SARS-CoV-2, can be used as long as it is clear that it indicates the 2019 coronavirus strain, but we would prefer use of WHO’s standard terminology, e.g., COVID-19. Specification of the causal pathway leading to death in Part I of the certificate is also important. For example, in cases when COVID-19 causes pneumonia and fatal respiratory distress, both pneumonia and respiratory distress should be included along with COVID-19 in Part I. Certifiers should include as much detail as possible based on their knowledge of the case, medical records, laboratory testing, etc. If the decedent had other chronic conditions such as COPD or asthma that may have also contributed, these conditions can be reported in Part II.

Thanks Ritchie. This is important for everyone to understand and we have to keep repeating it. I can’t find you the death codes, but I can show you hard numbers on mortality. Go to this CDC webpage. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/#ILINet
Then scroll down the web page until you see the black and red graph entitled ‘Pneumonia & Influenza Mortality’. Directly under the graph, you will see a live link entitled ‘View Chart Data’, click on that. This downloads a spreadsheet with the following data: Year, Week, then column F reflects ALL DEATHS in the US for that week regardless of attribution. Deaths have consistently gone DOWN in all consecutive weeks in 2020. Then it shows the Pneumonia and Influenza related deaths. I examined Pneumonia and Influenza related deaths from week 45 (beginning of Nov) 2019 thru Week 11 in 2020. Then compared P&I deaths for the same weeks (45-11 in the following year) for the past 5 years. The deaths we are seeing for P&I in 2019-2020 are the LOWEST in the last 5 yrs. These are CDC numbers! What we’re being fed in the pressers isn’t reflective of the data on the CDC website. I haven’t notified the WH, but we need to!

So if they are separating CV deaths from all other P&I deaths, it would explain why the P&I numbers are low and if you added them in, you would just have a normal flu season.

Many, many home sick for the duration and will never be able to be tested and not sick enough for hospital admission. “Family: Woman who went into hospital for brain tumor surgery dies of coronavirus”

      https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/04/01/april-1st-2020-presidential-politics-trump-administration-day-1168/

A 66-year-old woman died at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest after having a tumor removed from her brain, but family members said doctors told them that’s not what caused her death. They said it turns out she contracted coronavirus.

Liticia Fresse, 66, went to the hospital on March 3 with a brain tumor. Her family said doctors successfully operated on her, but during her recovery, the family said they were told she contracted COVID-19. She died March 25.

“She had emphysema, COPD and asthma so I knew – okay – complications. We just thought the tumor. That was it,” said Josephine DeJesus, a family member.

Fresse was in the hospital for more than three weeks before she died, leading her family to believe she contracted to virus from someone at the hospital.

“They say it was in the ward. Upstairs on the seventh floor – because I asked the doctor that spoke to me because he asked if I had any questions,” De Jesus said. “I said, ‘yes, I’d like to know how she could have contracted the virus in the hospital?'”

Brian Downs, a spokesperson for LVHN, told 69 News multiple medical personnel at the hospital have tested positive for the virus, but he didn’t confirm where they worked in the hospital or whether they worked with Fresse.

Downs also said visitors were allowed in the hospital until March 15, which was within the March 3-25 time frame the woman was in the hospital.

Downs said LVHN is taking every precaution to protect patients and staff, including checking each employee’s temperature before and after a shift.

Downs said any staff member “possibly considered” to be exposed is being asked to stay home for 14 days.

“That’s part of what takes a toll on the staff,” he said. “It’s not easy to make that work.”

The part about they only have so many dead bodies, that is the key to me. When this is all over, you’re going to see that if you add the flu deaths and the COVID-19 deaths it will be on par with what we experience most years. it may be slightly higher, but 2014 may have been slightly higher. They are taking a subset of the people who get the flu, and identifying that particular flu as COVID-19 this year. they likely could have done similar any year.

Yes people are getting sick, yes it’s contagious but this is not more severe than it ever is.

treehouseron–I agree with your statement and the CDC data confirms it as well– here is a link to my states (Wisconsin) flu stats for this “season”–basically from Nov to March there have been 32,000 “confirmed” flu cases–so 8000/month average. 4000 hospitalizations (1000/mo avg) and 1675 deaths from flu or pneumonia (they track them as being related). Our current number of chinese flu cases in the state (3 million population) is 1400 (tracked since feb 15th) so not even CLOSE to the avg number of flu cases.
….https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/publications/p02346.pdf. We have the entire state under “safer at home” BS guidelines when 90% of the 1400 cases are in TWO counties!! AND no one was/is concerned about the flu cases/deaths. Our local news just “breathlessly” reports the total chinese flu cases every night, without ANY context to the numbers!! Wake up people! Even if we lost 2 million with pre existing conditions, those people would be removed from subsequent year death counts. Unlike the 1918 pandemic, which took a larger swath of society. Five years out it would have pretty much zero effect on the population of the USA.

Further, next year flu deaths would be drastically reduced because a large number of pre existing condition people would be removed from the system.

History may view this COVID-19 as one of the biggest boondoggles in world history. Instead of just letting nature take its course, we interfered with nature and made everyone a victim.

So the 30-60k stat with flu is similar.
I don’t buy we can’t include SARS-COVID-2 as a mitigating factor because these older folks has other diseases. It down plays the virus was the final mitigating factor…it sets one up as a COVID-19 denier. As a health care provider, infectious disease/vaccine researcher, let’s not go there.
What IS helpful, is to identify who is at highest risk of dying with co-morbidies.

It is technically accurate to say that a patient who dies (immediate cause) of the virus while also in the process of dying from one or more other terminal illnesses, is a Covid-19 death.

Wouldn’t you want to know, however, what % of C19 deaths had comorbidities?

If that % is substantial, then TPTB are creating extreme and unjustifiable terrror and panic among the relatively young, relatively healthy portion of our population, as well as incenting our Rulers to undertake measures (alleged “cures”) far worse than the underlying problem.

All those bottles of water that Nestlé Coca-Cola and other boutique water providers sucked out of Lake Michigan via miscible water grants like Milwaukee has where they do not use all of the water that they are allowed, so they sold that unused portion to the boutique water people. That water is bottled up and shipped overseas, most likely to China. Since the water was not used, processed, and then, returned to the stream, it is lost to our aquifers and downstream states and municipalities – – FOREVER!

As mentioned upthread, my husband suffers from Frontotemporal Degeneration, a terminal dementia that affects younger people. The most common proximate cause of death for that is Pneumonia, so many people who really die of FTD are classified as having died of Pneumonia. So I completely understand the issues with skewing the statistics. And there is no justification for the ridiculous fearmongering that is being promoted.

But even in the absence of deaths attributable exclusively to coronavirus, there is the issue that we don’t have enough spare capacity in our system to properly treat a huge “spiking” flood of people whose other existing conditions are complicated by having come down with coronavirus., over and above the expected flow of people with serious conditions requiring hospitalization (heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, etc.) At the end of the day, it may be more of a capacity utilization issue than anything else, which IMHO is totally legitimate. Many hospitals have been closed and mothballed in recent decades. Our existing system is just not setup to handle a surge of that magnitude, That volume of coronavirus patients doesn’t exist today (except perhaps in NYC), but it is anticipated in our “hot spot” areas, and POTUS would be an idiot not to build in spare capacity fast (and he’s no idiot). IMO, what he and his team have accomplished in this short amount of time will be studied for years.

Hopefully Fluoroquinolone+ and other theraputic agents work, as POTUS said that will be a game changer.

Mortality statistics are an important source of information, often used for planning health care budgets. Concerns regarding the accuracy of these statistics are growing. The article by Perera et al., published in Age & Ageing in May 2016, aimed to investigate the frequency with which clinically diagnosed dementia was recorded on death certificates [1]. Their retrospective cohort study investigated the death certificates of people with a clinical diagnosis of dementia (in patients aged 65 or older), who died between 2006 and 2013. In this group, dementia was recorded on 53.6% of those death certificates. They concluded with the following statement: “Mortality data still considerably underestimate the population burden of dementia. Potential biases affecting recording of dementia need to be considered when interpreting mortality data.”

Yes, exactly. If we had better statistics it might lead to a greater focus on research etc. Although there has really not been much progress in treating brain diseases. You probably already know that the drugs to treat Alzheimers only provide some symptomatic relief to 50%+- of the people who try them, while doing absolutely nothing to stop or slow the disease itself. There has also been no effective progress in treating things like malignant brain tumors – the statistics on those has not changed in the past 50 years. The human brain is still largely a mystery.

There is really something strange about this visual graphic that was compiled with data from the CDC. It is purported to be a daily average of deaths by the top 15 causes. The only number that changes is the one for the Wuhan Virus. All of the others show a constant average, but the virus supposedly has a daily average for the year of 700+, which is not possible because it would put the total for the year (so far) to a ridiculously high number. Also, the daily average for all the other causes never changes from day to day, which would mean the exact same number of people die from each cause every day. The graph is nonsense, possibly because the data supporting it is nonsense.

I hope people take notice and start a meaningful dialogue about good nutrition and health. The majority of Americans are over weight and end up being obese. Metabolic issues contribute to preexisting conditions which prevent people from fighting infections not only due to the ravages on the body/immune system caused by the preexisting conditions, but also the prescription drugs doctors commonly prescribe have long lasting side effects, which further adds to the problem of the body’s ability to heal.

My mom was put on cholesterol lowering drug at a time when her cholesterol was normal. Her doctor advised her to take it to “prevent” the possible high cholesterol issue in the future. My mom was in her early 50’s when she started taking the drug. It has been around 25 since then and about 7 years since she stopped taking it. Side effects during. Side effects now. She is now 80, and we have her isolated in her house trying to protect her from the possibility of getting this virus. We don’t know what other side effects could manifest if she is infected.

Untreated chronic metabolic issues can inhibit the body’s ability to heal and protect itself from infections. Treated chronic metabolic conditions are not much better due to the prescription drugs.

I recommend the following levels for judging the effectiveness of our mitigation efforts:

    > 200,000 deaths; we made it worse.
~ 100,000 deaths; our efforts did no good, but did not cause more flu deaths.
< 50,000 deaths; our efforts saved lives.

The CDC has a page for past pandemics in which it lists 4.
    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/basics/past-pandemics.html

One of those is the Spanish flu with somewhere near 675,000 deaths in US. Their numbers. Surely medicine has advanced since then in treating flu victims. Another is the 2009 flu with 12,000 deaths. Both were versions of the H1N1 virus.

Two happened in-between. The '57-'58 H2N2 and the '68 H3N2. 116,000 and 100,000 deaths respectively. All are presented as brand new viruses catching us unprepared.

So if we can't do better than we did 50 years ago, our efforts have done no good. We should be able to do better just by the improvements in medicine without mitigation efforts. But I will give the benefit of the doubt and double that number to say we are making things worse. More than 200,000 deaths.

And I will use that number to say we had no real effect. About 100,000 deaths.

Halving that number brings us down to the upper end of the 10,000 – 60,000 annual flu deaths. Bad but not worse than recent bad years. So at this level we have done some good via mitigation. Less than 50,000 deaths.

Yes, those numbers would look a little different per total population, but I am also not including the vast improvements in medicine. These things will fight each other.

And I am anchoring the judgement on real experience based upon data presented by the CDC.

    What do you think?

Can’t compare really…from Past pandemics..you have already eluded..
Every virus has a different mortality rates, R0 factor (contagion factor).

What one can do with this pandemic is looking at what was expected (2.2 million deaths) and what different interventions already have made. So really, it’s already a success anything under 2.2. It’s the problem with models in general.

That 2.2 million number was bull shit when he generated it. None of the existing data could support something as horrendous as that. Nothing has ever come that close, not even 1918.

It was meant to scare. And it will be used to justify total incompetence. 1 million deaths. Proof we saved 1.2 million lives. That type of phoney baloney garbage is coming our way.

And they don’t know death rates and R0s. They won’t know until it is all over. Even then it will be a guess, because we aren’t studying how many people get this flu. And their actions will change how things spread, influencing R0, and will change the death rate.

BTW, those values should be emblazoned on every model.

My choice is much sounder than 2.2 million deaths.

Agree with all, except your point that we won’t really know death rate when it is over. Actually, if you try to assume that the “no mitigation / do nothing” rate of death from the WuFlu might be the same among our 2020 population of 330 million as it was from the Spanish Flu, the number you would get would be rounded to 2.2 million.

The Spanish Flu was grim. There were no ventilators and no ICU beds.

Then again, there were not as many people with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, HIV, end state renal disease, and undergoing cancer treatment.

Anyway, the 2.2 million figure appears not to have taken much compilation of huge quantities of data.

    COVID-19 Testing in Johnson County
The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners held a special virtual board meeting on Monday, March 30 to expand testing. The board approved a program for additional COVID-19 testing in an amount not to exceed $400,000 for between 3,000 and 5,000 test results and authorize the chairman of the Board of County Commissioners and the vice chairman to enter into a contract(s) that are necessary to effectuate this action. Learn more about the board’s action, and review common questions and answers about the testing.

This might explain why there are so few getting tested even though there is supposedly plenty of capacity. Somebody has to pay for the tests, and state and local gov’ts may not want to foot the bill to pay with people who have no symptoms or may just have a standard cold/flu.

Also, “Michigan must be punished for voting for Trump in 2016.“

For those of us who are old enough to really remember, this is from the Kathleen Blanco/Ray Nagin playbook during the Katrina disaster of 2005.

The powers that be that want to bring chaos into the country will use people like Witmer. To bring disruption in the major cities, they needed a democrat governor and a democrat mayor of a large city or two. That way when they incite rioting, looting and burning, the mayor will sit on his hands and the governor will not call in the National Guard until it is too late. At which point, they will turn and point fingers at FEMA and Trump.

They will use the COVID-19 hotspot cities as flash points. Rebellion rapidly turns to anarchy, which rapidly turns to chaos, which inevitably leads to a dictatorship. End game!

Nasty Nancy Pelosi is still trying to keep her claws into Trump by constantly threatening impeachment.

A much quicker, shorter pathway will be to use article 25, that after all the riots broke out across the country, claim that Trump is incompetent, and install Mike Pence. He doesn’t have the gumption or the leader ship ability that Trump has. Ergo, he will be much easier to control.

Since they don’t have a vaccine to offer some sort of security to the populace, they will push the use of telemetry via cell phones, 5G, google and Fitbit, QR to control access and egress of every facet of what used to be normal societal functioning here in the US. I understand that both China and Russia using the QR for these very purposes.

When the vaccine becomes available, Bill Gates will have installed his 2020 ID personal identification microchip to track and control people. Vaccination WILL be mandatory. I wonder if this is where they will haul the noncompliant off to the FEMA camps?

I apologize if this has already been discussed on this thread, I have neither the time nor the energy to read every comment on here. I wish you all Godspeed.

I really do wish that this was an April fools scenario, but it is not.

On another note, not only should the congress persons who took advantage of insider information to sell off their stock before the corona crash, Nasty Nancy Pelosi should also be investigated for the stock that she bought that has gone up hugely since this incident began.

In as much as mitigation efforts stop or slow the spread of the virus, they leave large numbers of people unprotected from this flu. In the first case, the mitigation must continue until there is a vaccine. In the second case, it must continue until the flu has run its course. (Or at least resumed for the next flu season for the flu to finish running its course.

The first case, stopping the spread, saves the most lives. We don’t seem to be trying to stop this virus. But we cannot continue this massive shutdown of the country until a vaccine is developed.

The second case slowing the flu down to allow the health system to treat all the sick, should save lives by keeping the death rate down. So they should have a death rate if you get care and one if you don’t.

I do not see evidence that the models have a two tiered death rate. If you get treatment, a low rate, if you don’t, a high rate. The number of hospital beds or ventilators or ICU units available compared to the number of patients needing them as the determining factor for the number of people at the higher death rate.

Yet they talk about that as the reason why we mitigate. Why not make this the key to guide our intervention.

I also don’t see social distancing versus not social distancing. Without, rapid increase in cases, rapid exceeding of beds. Rapid jump in death rate and total deaths per infection. With, slower increase in cases. Longer time before exceeding beds. Fewer total people at higher death rate. Fewer deaths per infection, but longer time with large numbers of cases. This then gives more time to increase the number of beds available, helping further reduce the total numbers of deaths.

I also don’t see the possible effects of these new treatments in reducing the death rate. I hope they pan out. It would be good to see what would happen if the death rates can be dropped. This is the only thing we have going that could shorten the mitigation efforts.

Instead they just provide scary death curves that have no use in guiding decisions on what we should do.

      1) Once cases are suppressed to a manageable number do tracing and testing of victim’s contacts and quarantine any infected found.

      2) When antibody tests are widely deployed we may find that many more have been infected and got over it which would mean the disease is less dangerous statistically than currently thought.

I think that you just need to consider the reality of the science here. You’re China, and you’ve just discovered that you are facing a new and “novel” respiratory virus. You are RNA-sequencing it as fast as you can. Your government, like ours, is trying to deal with the issue – and they have over 1.4 billion people versus our 340 million. Information is being developed while you are trying to do this, and inevitably some of that information is going to be wrong. Epidemiology is not an exact science.

So, I’m not willing to assert that the Chinese Government “conspired” to do anything. They were facing it first. They identified it first. They shared what technical information they had about it just as soon as they had it. (Some of that data also turned out to be wrong.) It is, indeed “novel” that a virus whose sequences resemble that of monkeys turned out to be human-contagious.

As weeks and months go by, and laboratories and scientists all over the world are now actively doing research and sharing data in real time, we now know much more than the Chinese did when they recognized the nature of the problem and then announced it for the first time. I simply do not believe that it is appropriate, either to blame them for malfeasance or to suggest that they “released it” purposely, e.g. as a weapon. I’m not going to accept or to believe that.

Don’t expect normal.. This is a mess.

When scientists called this virus “novel,” they meant it. Many people recover quickly, but some people are hit extremely hard. It has some of the characteristics of sister contagions (also caused by corona viruses) such as SARS, but not others. Very often it does not cause illness or serious illness, but apparently when it does hit hard, it hits very hard and fast.

Now, “any virus can do this.” (A certain number of people die each year from the consequences of “a common cold.”) But this virus is genuinely atypical.

“One of Idaho’s top tourist areas is asking visitors to — please — stay out. Blaine County, home to skiing, live music, conferences and other ever-popular events in Sun Valley, Hailey and Ketchum, flipped its usual welcoming script in the last week over concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

But that change of heart may have come too late.

Already coronavirus has hit the small mountain community harder than anywhere else in Idaho. Nearly half of Idaho’s 188 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, are in Blaine County. Two of Idaho’s first three deaths, reported Thursday, were also Blaine County residents.”

Retired Magistrate here: Dr. Acton is a Democrat and she is taking every advantage of this situation to create mass hysteria in Ohio. She has been doing this for the last month. Unfortunately, the Ohio Legislature has given her, as the Director of Health, the power to do everything that she wants to do to further her agenda.

The weather is starting to warm up here in Central Ohio; the next several days are supposed to be sunny and warmer. A good dose of Vitamin D would help everyone. But no, she has many people so scared that they are afraid to go outside and get some sunshine and fresh air which could actually help.

I have talked to numerous individuals who had some strange type of malady during January of this year. My husband and I had the same thing. Really tired, dry cough, uncomfortable chest and just a feeling of being unwell. Heard a caller from Orange County California call in to Rush’s show yesterday who said she, and a lot of her friends, experienced the same thing in January. It took between 7-10 days to get over it. We took Zicam and it really helped. So, in my opinion, this virus may have been around a lot longer than was originally thought. My husband and I both have some underlying health conditions; however, we exercise, are not overweight and try to take care of our health.

My overall take on this: A virus which is highly contagious which most people will get over without lasting side effects. People who are already compromised will have a problem with it, but maybe not more than the seasonal flu which kills far more people that has to date.

I am hoping that the trifecta drug regime that President Trump has recommended will really start to show dramatic results in the next several weeks. President Trump is then going to have to make the decision on when to open the country back. If he delays too long, there won’t be anything left to re open. Of course I can see governors, like Mike Dewine relying on Dr. Acton and keeping everyone on a short lease for a long time….because she can.

I do indeed suspect, as many others also do, that this virus has been “making the rounds” before it was identified in China. Are we actually dealing, say, with “COVID-19, 19a, and 19b?” At this point I think no one really knows for sure.

This particular virus … is a little weird.

I have faith President Trump will make the right decision at the right time. His challenge is that the dems, globalists and media will stall to the point of POTUS having to order the country back open for business, likely with dem govs, mayors, media and possibly members of his task force disagreeing and countering his decision at every opportunity. At that point he will be blamed for each and every CCPvirus death thereafter. Tough decision. Open up too soon, cases go back up and have to basically start over. Open up too late and economy will be more difficult to recover, especially prior to the election.

I believe much will hinge on the success of Hydroxyhloroquine and any other breakthrough treatments to predominantly reduce the fatality rate. It would be nice if the media would inquire more on this but they won’t because they do not want a success narrative. I would not want to be in Presidents Trumps shoes but I can’t think of anyone that I would want in those shoes other than him. His positive outlook and VSG decision making abilities will get us through this. I suspect that magic wand is still working behind the scenes.

Deplorable Trumper again. I posted upthread, but feel compelled to do so again. I find the large amount of negativity really hard to bear. So, don’t read my rant.
My complaint is particularly against the Convulsive Contusions folks arrive at from statistics. Have so many Trumpers decided that our President is not to be trusted to make decisions about our country / citizens?
IMHO – Stopping folks from coming into the country starting near the end of January did not necessarily ‘flatten the curve”. How about an acknowledgement that our health care delivery system was not able to cope with the infection? It needed the support that our President has unleashed so it can cope. That is probably in large part due to ObamaNONCare, but not entirely.

How about the CDC, NIH, FDA and other ABC agencies were under water with outdated rules & regs plus bloated inept bureaucracy? How about the possibility that governors and local support were in no way prepared for this kind of emergency – and that POTUS KNEW IT! He needed some time just to get the gummit inertia moving with a huge blast of some kind.

We got thru February before the large numbers of affected began to be seen. Complain about test results factored into ‘the curve’. Accurate tests are only a couple of weeks old, and are mainly used to diagnose illness and protect health care givers & responders. Duh! Talk about skewed data!
POTUS said this virus is sneaky and VICIOUS! Many have commented and I think Dr Birx has said that there seems to be something ‘different’ and ‘unusual’ about this virus. To me that means some info they are seeing does not make sense and is scary.

So, we had to ramp up a failed and failing health delivery system, POTUS has been urging lawmakers to redo Obamacare for nearly 4 years. Might this make his point for him?
He had to prompt deep staters to kick aside rules make for another time and make new rules for this infection. He had to get governors to put on their governing hats (which they are reluctant to do – afraid to even). As an ex gummit employee – years ago – let me tell you that the description ‘Trump Time” does not begin to describe what is happening with Fed support.

Yeah, so everyone who has lived with comfort and lots of prosperity for many years now has to ‘suffer’ with ‘shelter at home’. Lots of complaining about the devastation of the economy. Yet our VSG P DJT has said that the economy can be rebuilt. People cannot be brought back to life.
So, the comeback is that we, in the US lose x number of folks per day to auto accidents, abortions and other health problems. That makes it OK to ‘let it run’ and not take measures that have the potential to prevent or mitigate a disaster?

How about the possibility / probablility that we can learn lessons about how to prevent this kind of devastation in the future? Not worth fighting for?
I said it before, i’ll say it again – Buckle up Snowflakes. Sure glad that in all my 78 years I never had to live thru anything this bad /s
I will keep being a Deplorable Trumper. I am just as proud today that I voted for him in 2016

He continues to show himself to be a well-seasoned executive leader who is making dramatic and decisive decisions based on best available information provided by a host of expert advisors … and he is owning those decisions. Even if some of those decisions turn out to be – as I personally believe – “wrong,” this is not someone who’s going to be looking for any scapegoats. Because the decisions were made in good faith and believed to be the best for the country (and, the world). The White House is in very good hands. (And in this case, “not just the President.”)

Sure, it’s fine when they salute you and play “Hail to the Chief,” but these are the times when the job gets lonely and hard.

Mike – thank you. a couple of comments. “based on best available information provided by a host of expert advisors” and “Even if some of those decisions turn out to be – as I personally believe – “wrong,”
I believe all of us are ‘doing the best we can with what we have’ at any given moment in time. I also believe someone / God is steering the ship. I do not believe it is possible to make a ‘wrong’ decision, tho it is possible and likely that as circumstances change we will likely make a change if possible.
Any or all of our great Lion’s decisions will be ‘wrong’ for someone. Probably many someones. As has been stated elsewhere, that chair he sits in in the oval office must be very lonely.
I also keep reminding folks that we ‘see’ only a small amount of the info that is being input for his decision-making. In addition, the CDC guidelines are ‘Guidelines’. Draconian limits are coming from state & local gummit. I suspect a lot of ‘monkey see, monkey do’. Well, if ‘they’ are doing that maybe I better do it too.
if I may digress re: decisions. hubby & I are no longer young. Over the years he & I together and separately before we met – made life changing decisions. Job opportunities, roads not taken are the best examples. We agonized over ‘why, when we had such high hopes, did that not work out? When we looked back, with more info, it seemed like we WERE PREVENTED from going there or doing that. More than that, we realized that what happened instead was far superior – and had we taken ‘that’ job it would have been a disaster.
I know I am a bit of a fatalist, but it is more than that for me.
There are big differences between what I think is ‘wrong’, what you think is ‘wrong’ and whether or not the decisions being made by POTUS are ‘wrong’. As he is so fond of saying, “we will see what happens’.

It may help to keep things in perspective here. In January of this year, https://www.upi.com/Health_News/2020/01/17/Three-million-new-flu-cases-reported-in-last-week-CDC-says we had a headline that didn’t make the headlines:

Three million new flu cases reported last week. […] More than 13 million so far. […] More than 120,000 people hospitalized across the country. […] More than 6,600 people have died, including 39 children. […] This relatively mild flu season […]

And we have never “shut down the world” for this disease. (Except maybe the “Spanish flu.”)
