Potus trying to get America back to work.
Doctors on every news show saying its too early.
Don’t be deceived by Doctors. They have an agenda.
On Fox News Sunday Dr. Inglesby says
“I don’t really have confidence, we don’t really have confidence, that we really know where all the cases are”
“We’ve begun to do much more diagnostic testing around the country where there is illness, but in some parts of the country we don’t have much diagnostic testing.
“We’re seeing what we see, but there could be 2x as many 3x as many, 4 x as many, in an area not yet recognized”
So we need to get to a point in the country where we have such diagnostic testing, that we can test people who have MILD SYMPTOMS, because right now if you have mild symptoms, you can’t get a test. And those people can spread the disease just as easily as those people who are sick and in the hospital. ”

Wallace: “The President says if we socially distance and clean hands we can go back to work” will that work doctor?

Doctor: No I don’t think so. As we’ve seen in ITALY, who are ahead of us in terms of the epidemic, with very aggressive social distancing in place the disease has continued to spread and has caused a national crisis. At this point what we need to do is stick with what other countries that had more success have done, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore, put in place social distancing until they’ve gotten control of the epidemic convincingly and then loosing controls slightly.

Why is my BS meter on HIGH with this?
    1. Because people who have “mild symptoms” or have been asymptomatic or have gone through it already thinking “I’ve got the flu” but its really been CoronaVirus2019version (aka Covid19) will be forced to go through testing and then what?
    2. Why is he projecting? 2x, 3x, 4x. He doesn’t know there are that many people in a place like Bismark ND who have this and are just laying under a rock waiting to explode onto the scene with germy germs. They’re either going through the virus’s symptoms right now and gaining herd immunity or its just not there (I doubt this).
    3. And to compare ITALY to the USA is specious in how we will follow in # of deaths.
4.To follow a tiny peninsula country, an island nation, a communist dictatorship, it’s protectorate, or a kingdom in how they “do it” and relax controls on a populace vs. the USA that has a constitution is very different as Americans are a very different type of people.
    5. Doctors, as a species, are inherently democrats. Remember that! They are beholden to the Medicare system and who gives them more money? Democrats. Who represents their interests? The AMA. Inherently a leftist organization. Do not think for 1 minute that doctors are “saints”. There is a libertarian organization called the AAPS which represents about 100,000 doctors nationwide. They argue against the AMA and medicare. With only 100,000 doctors or so in its membership you can see the disparity in thought. The AAPS is featured in the Atlantic Monthly and not in a good way should give you and idea about them:

Kay, do not assume doctors “have an agenda.” They are doctors, not pols, not economists….doctors. What the hell do you expect them to say? They take the conservative health outcome route because…they are doctors! No agenda needed!

Has everyone become a conspiracy theorist? Does every human being have to have an ulterior motive for his or her position on an issue, even a doctor on a matter of health?

How would like to be the doctor who goes on tv and says, “You know, you and yours will be fine if you are careful, but GO BACK to WORK” only to see an entire state or nation once again fill the offices and the factories and the restaurants and the curve starts upwards again?

Now, the media may have an agenda, sure…because they’ve proven for years that they do. But a doctor you saw on tv? Geez.

My point is that MOST DOCTORS caring for their patients would advise, “It’s too early to risk going back to work. Stay home if you possibly can.”

WAllace would have to work hard to find a doctor that said, “Hey, everything is being overblown so go on, go back to work.”

And there’s a big part of the problem. No one gets any blame if they’re overly cautious even if it ruins our economy, so guess which position most are likely to take? No one wants to be blamed for even one death due to being labeled as not being cautious enough, so the safe position to take is one of lockdowns with no end in sight.

Shame that the economy doesn’t count as a death victim.

They’re rapacious. And you obviously didn’t click on the link to the Atlantic magazine’s that explains more about the AAPS so you could see the difference in approaches. Also, very few people know and are members of the AAPS so my “credibility” is just fine.

In fact, it is estimated that only 15-18% of doctors in the US are paying members of the AMA. In one study conducted by Jackson and Coker, only 11% of physicians who responded believe the AMA stand for the views of doctors. From a physicians weekly article. So doctors viewpoints are not represented by the AMA as is clearly indicated here. And yet, these are the pundits on TV.

        • You can’t determine your own credibility, Kay. Credibility is measured by your ability to convince the audience that your information and opinion is trustworthy. I think you went way out of bounds with bullet point 5. So have others reading here. Thus, your credibility is impaired.

I don’t personally think membership in professional organizations is even a credential, so it matters little to me whether you’re in AMA or AAPS or BBD&O or AT&T. What matters is the quality of the argument you present. You made an over-generalization about the motives of doctors. I would question the size of your study. I think you’ve under-sampled the field.

And of course you are correct. Credibility is 100% determined by others. People such as Stalin may have been convinced of his own credibility but he had to enforce it by violence, fear, imprisonment and the death of those who opposed his views and opinions. And, one can establish credibility and then destroy it. I have seen this happen many times in court. A well respected witness, police officer, expert, lawyer and judge may convince a jury of their credibility and then have it erased either by their own subsequent statements, actions, other witnesses, science, or factual evidence. Credibility is not an absolute just because one claims it.

While we aren’t S Korea, two wholly different forms of government, S Korea’s plan is pretty much our plan without a lot of inept Democrat Governors.

“As countries ranging from the United States to Italy and Iran struggle to manage the virus, Seoul’s handling of the outbreak – involving a highly coordinated government response that has emphasised transparency and relied heavily on public cooperation in place of hardline measures such as lockdowns – is increasingly viewed by public health experts as a model to emulate for authorities desperate to keep the virus under control.

“Instead, authorities have focused mandatory quarantine on infected patients and those with whom they have come into close contact, while advising the public to stay indoors, avoid public events, wear masks and practise good hygiene.

(We didn’t have an operational testing system)
“South Korea’s capability to test for early detection of viruses has developed greatly as it went through the 2009 new influenza outbreak and 2015 Mers [Middle East respiratory syndrome] outbreak,” said Kim Woo-joo, a professor of medicine at Korea University’s College of Medicine. “It ranks among the world’s top countries in this field.”

South Korea likely has the world’s best intelligence (spy) system inside of China. Does any other nation need it more? S Korea likely had better information about the virus’s qualities and acted well, as far as their abilities reached.

Contrast to Italy: which did not act as well as it could have, not nearly as well. Of course, Italy needed a time machine to go back and not let the Chinese in.

A very good summation. When this is all over we need to tailor a plan based on what the South Koreans and the Taiwanese did to combat the latest ChiCom released virus on the world. After all those two nations have had a lot of experience dealing with China’s environmental problems ranging from smog to pathogens. The governments and citizens of those two nations were prepared and have acted orderly and rational in their response to the Wuhan Flu. In contrast, we’ve had many federal and state government officials here running around like chickens with their heads cut off, which has resulted in the American people being on edge and in a panicked mode for the last two weeks. We were totally unprepared for this!

Does not the AMA officially support the medically unsound concept that “gender dysphoria” is a condition that should be treated with hormones and surgery, on teens and pre-teens, even over the objections of the parents?

I rest my case, on the AMA’s bias.
However, on individual doctors, I think the bias may be more as described in other comments; no one wants to say back to work, and be judged later to be wrong.

        • You rested your case without offering a source. I just spent 15 minutes searching AMA’s web site for any policy similar to what you attested, supporting a right of minors to seek gender-reassignment surgery and/or hormones over the objections of parents. Couldn’t find anything of the kind. That doesn’t prove one doesn’t exist, but it would help if you backed up what you said.

The closest I could find was support for minors to seek vaccination, and to have their privacy preserved regarding being pregnant. There’s also info in support of addressing violence against trans people, but that’s about adults. https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/press-releases/ama-adopts-new-policies-first-day-voting-2019-annual-meeting

IMO, what drives the positions of professional medical organizations about how to approach gender dysphoria more than politics are the current findings reflected in the DSM-5 and the ICD-10.

Firstly, I am a technological trogdolite; yes, I use the internet and computers, but it is a hate/hate relationship.

I have only an older I-phone, and either it can’t, or I do not know how to (and please, don’t try to instruct me) open two ‘windows’ at once, or how to copy and paste.
And,,being rural I have intermittent 4g, and often write a long, great post only to lose my connection AND my post.

Now, yes the DSM-5 continued a major shift to the left, changing its view on gender dysphoria, and the AMA followed suit.
No scientific basis for going from it is a mental disorder requiring mental health treatment, to a physical problem requiring medical intervention thru surgery and hormones.
Quack science. While the AMA and Apa may have not officially weighed in, the EFFECT of this change is that there are media stories of parents being over-ruled, and even threatened with child abuse charges, in order to give these pre-teens hormones.

IMHO, the Conmunist way is thru infiltration, and undermining from within. And that very much includes ‘civic organisations’ and labor unions, which AMA, APA are, as well as Boy Scouts, Clergy, Media, etc.

And, in these organisations, once a small cadre of leftists rise to the top, they use their power to suppress any that refuse to tow the party line.

Many Dr.’s have tried to speak out against this obomination, and are silenced.

The acceptance of Abortion is another.
So, my OPINION is that I don’t NEED a citation, to make the case that the AMA, APA and many other such organisations have been infiltrated by globalist.

I once attended a big oncology conference in October of 2016. They asked the audience who they supported. Schillery or DJT. It was nearly 90% Schillery. I also have personal experiences with scores of Elite (thought leader) doctors that demonstrated how leftist political they are. I spent over a 30 career dealing with them at dinners and other social occasions, and for business reasons, just keeping my opinions to myself.

I would also point out a seperate, pervasive bias in Dr.’s, which has little/nothing to do with politics.

Medical school, like boot camp (and using some of the same methods “breaks down the individual, in order to remake them.”

And one of the things it instills, is “CYA Medicine”; encouraging them to give greater weight to lab results over signs/syptoms, patient/family history, when making diagnostic and treatment decisions,…NOT because the lab results are more ‘reliable’, but because they protect the Dr. from legal liability.

Point being, due to their brainwashing training, they are inherently going to urge keeping people inside, rather than sounding the “all clear”, cause its SAFER FOR THEM.
THEY aren’t concerned with the costs of extending shut down too long; how could you ever PROVE it?

On the other hand, if you open up too soon, THAT will be obvious, with (theoretically) catastrophic results, and they percieve they WILL get the blame.

      Same thing applies to buerocrats.
Put another way, if we wait for the data, to ‘tell’ us its safe, we will have waited too long.

And, thats assuming the data is,even capable of telling us, and we are capable of correctly interpreting it.

Ultimately, this is the definition of an “Executive decision”; it is EXACTLY the kind of decision that can’t be made by committee. POTUS and State,Govenors are going to have to make the decision.

All the data in the world, and all the experts can only take you so far, and CONgress is nearly usless, in this situation.

I weigh in only with personal experience. I interact with 100’s of doctors on a yearly basis. I have found that nearly all are conservative. During various conversations their beliefs are based mostly because of law suits, cost of insurance, import of foreign doctor that drive the pay down of doctors working for large medical corporations such as Kaiser Permanente and the amount of patients those corporations assign to each doctors.

Now nurses are a different story. Because of unions, most nurses are driven to believe that liberal politics gives them better pay and the ability to strike if the pay, working conditions, perks is not to their liking. Administrators of medical facilities and hospitals are very liberal in their beliefs. Again, this is driven by government programs such as medicare, medicaid, Obamacare and such. The government allows the importation of foreign medical professionals will to work for less and follow the institution guidelines for patient care without protesting as much as American schooled doctors.

In my personal life, I have medical insurance but I also have a private doctor who does not take insurance as payment. I use this private doctor for second opinions, medical recommendations and, before becoming adults, to treat my children when needed.

The State Department has listed Harry as a Diplomat which entitles him and his family to taxpayer security while in the USA.

Since Harry/Meghan screamed they want to be private citizens, stepped down from senior royal duties, and no longer represent the Queen officially or in any capacity, then Harry should not be given Diplomat status and taxpayer security!

Meghan is actively seeking Hollywood acting roles, they announced they are private citizens, they have millions of dollars of their own money.

There is a petition to stop taxpayer funded security. I’m thinking of starting a petition to have Diplomat status removed from Prince Harry.

No doubt the Obamination/KKKlinton arse kissers in the State Department made sure Harry got Diplomat status. Harry is best friends with Obamination.

British royal family members do have Diplomat status passports. When they visit any country for any reason, even for personal reasons like vacation, visiting friends, or attending weddings, the British government works with the government of the country being visited to provide security. The British government provides security personnel and the country being visited provides security personnel through the State Department. Both countries pay for the security.

The saying “be careful what you wish for” may come back with lessons not anticipated.
Seems they both are getting out of the match what they want; for his wife notoriety/fame, for him the chance to be free, so wishing them both well in their endeavors, as long as we don’t have to foot the bill, all’s good.

Dr. Price is a doctor at Weill Cornell Hospital in NYC and is primarily treating only COVID 19 patients. He is a frontline specialist. He also covers such questions as when you receive groceries whether you need to disinfect them (no- wash hands before and after handling groceries) and various other areas.

I saw this portion of Jesse’s show last night. My one significant takeaway is that this whole “social distancing” concept (actually a matter of unconstitutional regal edict in many places, and the purported basis for shutting down much of the private sector) is way overdone. Although the good doctor declined to SAY anything quite that strong, he made the point that the MAIN thing is keeping your hands, if unwashed, away from your nose and mouth (probably eyes too, although he did not mention that). Hand to face contact probably accounts for 99% of infections. The virus spreads in aerosol form only after 15-30 minutes of “close” contact with an infected indvidual in a closed-in space.

Coronavirus: pathogen could have been spreading in humans for decades, study says
Virus may have jumped from animal to humans long before the first detection in Wuhan, according to research by an international team of scientists
Findings significantly reduce the possibility of the virus having a laboratory origin, director of the US National Institute of Health says

    Excerpt:

“The coronavirus that causes Covid-19 might have been quietly spreading among humans for years or even decades before the sudden outbreak that sparked a global health crisis, according to an investigation by some of the world’s top virus hunters.
Researchers from the United States, Britain and Australia looked at piles of data released by scientists around the world for clues about the virus’ evolutionary past, and found it might have made the jump from animal to humans long before the first detection in the central China city of Wuhan.“

So as of 3:13pm eastern time, 170 new deaths from the Wuhan virus have been reported in the USA and its territories. This is a far cry from the 1000 per day predictions some are making. But we’ll have to keep an eye on how the numbers are reported.

Keep in mind that because the number of deaths may double in a day from, as an example, 500 to 1000 deaths, but that doesn’t mean the doubling rate will go from 1000 to 2000 and 2000 to 4000 and so on.

At any rate, I’m hoping for the best. 🙂

Some are asking for specifics about impacts on hospitals previously that would compare to the present. Here’s a sampling from a brief net skim:

    From January 2018:
    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/overwhelmed-by-flu-cases-some-ers-turn-ambulances-away-california/

“Health officials in Southern California are warning the public that the current flu season is so intense that some hospitals are rerouting patients due to their increasingly limited capacity. From Laguna Beach to Long Beach, emergency rooms were struggling to cope with the overwhelming cases of influenza and had gone into “diversion mode,” during which ambulances are sent to other hospitals, CBS Los Angeles reports.”

“It’s not just Orange County, it’s all across the country,” internist Dr. Ray Casciari with St. Joseph Hospital told CBS2 Los Angeles. “So, yes, this is going to be an epidemic year,” Casciari warned.

    https://news.yahoo.com/hospitals-overwhelmed-flu-patients-treating-192834539.html
“The 2017-2018 influenza epidemic is sending people to hospitals and urgent-care centers in every state, and medical centers are responding with extraordinary measures: asking staff to work overtime, setting up triage tents, restricting friends and family visits and canceling elective surgeries, to name a few. “We are pretty much at capacity, and the volume is certainly different from previous flu seasons,” says Dr. Alfred Tallia, professor and chair of family medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. “I’ve been in practice for 30 years, and it’s been a good 15 or 20 years since I’ve seen a flu-related illness scenario like we’ve had this year.” Tallia says his hospital is “managing, but just barely,” at keeping up with the increased number of sick patients in the last three weeks. The hospital’s urgent-care centers have also been inundated, and its outpatient clinics have no appointments available.

“The story is similar in Alabama, which declared a state of emergency last week in response to the flu epidemic. Dr. Bernard Camins, associate professor of infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, says that UAB Hospital cancelled elective surgeries scheduled for Thursday and Friday of last week to make more beds available to flu patients.
“We had to treat patients in places where we normally wouldn’t, like in recovery rooms,” says Camins. “The emergency room was very crowded, both with sick patients who needed to be admitted and patients who just needed to be seen and given Tamiflu.””

    https://www.guampdn.com/story/opinion/2018/11/10/letter-flu-overwhelmed-hospitals-last-year/1953421002/

“A historically severe flu season last winter killed 80,000 Americans including 183 children. Nationwide, hospitals were overwhelmed and critical medical supplies were depleted by life-threatening diseases caused by a mutant influenza virus. Recently, physicians have diagnosed the first American flu fatalities of this year. Four weeks ago, a previously healthy Florida child was killed by the Influenza B virus. Two weeks ago, a Michigan school district shut down as a precautionary measure due to a “horrible outbreak of flu” among students and staff.”

    This February:

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/hurley-er-overwhelmed-by-flu-how-to-avoid-a-visit/ar-BB10694J

“He said their ER is overwhelmed right now with flu patients. ‘We’re considered a high frequency zone, so to speak. And, within the last 3 weeks, our flu numbers have absolutely been astronomical. We’re seeing 20-30 times a day, just here in the emergency department,” Dr. Weber said.”

Put simply, medics found that severely ill flu patients nursed outdoors recovered better than those treated indoors. A combination of fresh air and sunlight seems to have prevented deaths among patients; and infections among medical staff.[1] There is scientific support for this. Research shows that outdoor air is a natural disinfectant. Fresh air can kill the flu virus and other harmful germs. Equally, sunlight is germicidal and there is now evidence it can kill the flu virus.

Essentially, 75% of deaths occur by May 1 and 98% by Jun 1.

I’m going to post this in the presidential politics thread because all of this Coronavirus stuff is so political it’s all relevant as the media twists and distorts things.

Today the country music industry took a massive blow, when country music legend Joe Diffie passed away, and his death is being attributed to the CoronaVirus.

I am a huge country music fan and was a huge Joe Diffie fan, I am completely saddened by this news… but as a huge country music fan I want to make it clear to anybody who hears the news and doesn’t pay much attention, as much as we all love Joe Diffie, he was by far the unhealthiest country singer in Nashville!

So we have yet another scenario where they’re playing up the horrible, tragic fact that he passed away with the virus, but just THREE DAYS AGO my brother and I were talking about how, watching recent concert footage, Joe was a walking time bomb, and people were begging him to lose weight!

If you told me a country legend died, and asked me to guess who, my first guess would be Willie Nelson (God bless him) and my second guess would have been Joe Diffie because he hasn’t taken care of himself for his entire career. 10 years ago he was way overweight, and recently he had ballooned up to the point that he looked like he was going to stroke out on stage.

God bless him and his family, I love him, I love his music, I’m absolutely teary eyed that he died, and if it’s true that he had the Coronavirus that’s horrible, but a spider bite could have killed Joe unfortunately in the shape he was in.

I saw Joe Diffie in TX a few yrs back – recent pictures of him show that he was extremely overweight and always very red in the face and very sweaty – his death is being ruled as “Complications from CoronaVirus” whatever that means

Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has been discussing a do-not-resuscitate policy for infected patients, regardless of the wishes of the patient or their family members — a wrenching decision to prioritize the lives of the many over the one.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger built an Emergency Stockpile; Governor Brown dismantled It. 2,400 Ventilators, 24,000 beds.

LA Times: California once had mobile hospitals and a ventilator stockpile. But it dismantled them

    March 27, 2020

“They were ready to roll whenever disaster struck California: three 200-bed mobile hospitals that could be deployed to the scene of a crisis on flatbed trucks and provide advanced medical care to the injured and sick within 72 hours.

“Each hospital would be the size of a football field, with a surgery ward, intensive care unit and X-ray equipment. Medical response teams would also have access to a massive stockpile of emergency supplies: 50 million N95 respirators, 2,400 portable ventilators and kits to set up 21,000 additional patient beds wherever they were needed.

“In 2006, citing the threat of avian flu, then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the state would invest hundreds of millions of dollars in a powerful set of medical weapons to deploy in the case of large-scale emergencies and natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires and pandemics.

“In light of the pandemic flu risk, it is absolutely a critical investment,” he told a news conference. “I’m not willing to gamble with the people’s safety.”

“The state, flush with tax revenue, soon sank more than $200 million into the mobile hospital program and a related Health Surge Capacity Initiative to stockpile medicines and medical gear for use in outbreaks of infectious disease, according to former emergency management officials and state budget records….”

“And so, that year, [Brown, economic slump] the state cut off the money to store and maintain the stockpile of supplies and the mobile hospitals. The hospitals were defunded before they’d ever been used.”

The equipment was given to hospitals, some likely sold to other countries.

Governor Brown was unavailable for comment.

“Together, these two programs would have positioned California to more rapidly respond as its COVID-19 cases exploded. The annual savings for eliminating both programs? No more than $5.8 million per year, according to state budget records, a tiny fraction of the 2011 budget, which totaled $129 billion….”

“…“These supplies were exactly for this scenario,” he said. [Dr. Howard Backer.]

“Through a spokesperson, Brown, the former governor, declined to be interviewed for this story. Officials in the state Department of Finance declined to comment. Officials with the state Public Health Department declined interviews and provided only brief written answers to some questions, declining to provide a full accounting of the stockpile.”

No one will say what happened to the 21,000 emergency hospital beds.
