Paranoid and Unstable Michigan Governor Claims Vast Conspiracy Because Medical Vendors Not Providing Equipment…

With a review of her incompetent action plan so far it is obviously that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is overwhelmed with the responsibilities of her position during crisis.

Now that a complete lack of preparation is surfacing; to make matters worse the governor is making up paranoid stories about vendors not providing products or fulfilling orders to her state.

Governor Whitmer claimed President Trump was orchestrating a plot against her by telling medical vendors not to supply Michigan. However, when pressed on the issue the governor refuses to provide any evidence.  This is not a stable person.

DETROIT – […] “When the federal government told us that we needed to go it ourselves, we started procuring every item we could get our hands on,” Whitmer said Friday on WWJ 950AM. “What I’ve gotten back is that vendors with whom we had contracts are now being told not to send stuff here to Michigan. It’s really concerning.”

Whitmer didn’t say who has told vendors to stop sending medical supplies to the state, but strongly implied the order came from President Donald Trump’s administration.

[…] “We’ve entered into a number of contracts and as we are getting closer to the date when shipments are supposed to come in, they’re getting canceled or they’re getting delayed,” Whitmer said. “We’ve been told they’re going first to the federal government.”

[…] Whitmer did not specify in the radio interview Friday which vendors or specific medical equipment is being blocked by federal authorities from being sent to Michigan.

[…] Crain’s sought clarity from Whitmer’s office midday Friday and the names of vendors under contract that the governor referenced. Whitmer’s spokeswoman had no additional information.

[…] The FEMA Region 5 officials told congressional members there were no vendor shipments being diverted from Michigan and that “they would reach out (to suppliers) and try to solve the uncertainty,” Mitchell said. (more)

In Gov. Yearbook’s state, without cases mounting, potentially life-saving procedures are reportedly being stopped. In this case, they report that the hospital (and likely a panel therein) took the patient’s age into account in canceling despite him reportedly being in “good physical shape”. Welcome to the land of panels and acceptable losses:

“In talking about his father, Denard refused to let bitterness or frustration overwhelm him as the coronavirus upends the health-care industry as well as how funerals are being handled. Verdell was scheduled to receive a heart stent March 20 at Novant Health UVA Prince William Medical Center in Manassas.

“But the procedure was cancelled because of the coronavirus, Dernard said. Besides preparing for the spike in coronavirus cases, the hospital had to take Verdell’s age into consideration as well even though Verdell was in good physical shape, he said.”

Glad to know I’m not the only one impressed with how well John Bel Edwards seems to be doing through this. Almost 1 in 1,000 Louisianans has tested positive for the WuFlu virus. Today at noon, the report was that there were 336 WuFlu patients on ventilators in Louisiana. Yesterday, the report said 270. Orleans and Jefferson Parishes combined account for 96 of the 137 reported deaths. Difficult days for them.

        • Sherri, yes, I’ve been impressed. He’s been a calm and steady voice of reason. I think the report was that 1 in 1000 in the New Orleans area have tested positive. We have 4.66 million people in the state, so with 3,315 positives, the infection rate is about .07%. The population of New Orleans is approximately 394,000, so 3,315 cases is close to 1:1000. Our death rate in La. is alarming if you look at the numbers. Our death rate is 4.4%. Really, though, that number is not accurate because as of now we’re ONLY testing people who are exhibiting symptoms and are considered high risk. This means there are likely 1000s who have mild illness who have not been tested and not counted. Whatever the case, it’s pretty scary. Based on the number of tests administered and the number of confirmed cases, we have a positive percentage of 13.71 (or 14%), so 86% of people with symptoms are testing negative. That’s good news to me because I’ve been sick with a bad cough, low grade fever and fatigue – I think it’s allergies. However, your mind can get carried away if you let it!!

Fascinating story here in Washington State – elderly gentleman (father of a friend of mine) hospitalized last week with COVID-19…steadily declining and family was told to say their good byes. He was removed from IVs on Wednesday and they expected him to pass later that day…but his longtime girlfriend (who is a retired nurse) fought back and kept treating him – reduced his Oxygen levels and kept trying to hydrate him as best as she could. He has been slowly improving and they just hooked him back up to an IV drip…

I was reading on another thread earlier today about an ER doctor who said treating this virus is counterintuitive in many ways…there are people recovering and I think we need to talk with their doctors and see if they did anything differently!

The one thing we do NOT need is politically motivated Governors attempting to practice medicine in order to “get” Trump and cover for their own lack of planning and preparation!

No one could have prepared for a global shutdown and the impact on healthcare systems. Trump is the only leader who says this while every Demonrat just screams about how they need all this medical equipment.

When I look at the number of cases and how many should be hospitized and ventilated, I fail to see a shortage. Based on the current trends and infection rates, a fraction of the new supplies might be needed (and they should be there on time). The insane keep screaming about 10% death rates and other nonsense to drive the “no supplies, everyone is dead & morgues are overflowing” narrative.

Not to say that all states shouldn’t have supplies, but some areas obviously are in greater need at the immediate moment. With more supplies being manufactured and sent from other places, the supplies we have right now need to be diverted to where they are needed right now.

Look at the notice Gov Whitmer had sent out, on her authority, to Michigan prescribers and dispensers regarding the use of hydroxychloroquine…

    LARA; Professional Licensing
Reminder of Appropriate Prescribing and Dispensing
    Dear Licensed Prescribers and Dispensers:

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has received multiple allegations of Michigan physicians inappropriately prescribing hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine to themselves, family, friends, and/or coworkers without a legitimate medical purpose.

Prescribing hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine without further proof of efficacy for treating COVID-19 or with the intent to stockpile the drug may create a shortage for patients with lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or other ailments for which chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are proven treatments. Reports of this conduct will be evaluated and may be further investigated for administrative action. Prescribing any kind of prescription must also be associated with medical documentation showing proof of the medical necessity and medical condition for which the patient is being treated. Again, these are drugs that have not been proven scientifically or medically to treat COVID-19.

Michigan pharmacists may see an increased volume of prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine and should take special care to evaluate the prescriptions’ legitimacy. Pursuant to Michigan Administrative Code, R 338.490(2), a pharmacist shall not fill a prescription if the pharmacist believes the prescription will be used for other than legitimate medical purposes or if the prescription could cause harm to a patient.

It is also important to be mindful that licensed health professionals are required to report inappropriate prescribing practices. LARA appreciates all licensed health professionals for their service and cooperation in assuring compliance in acting responsibly while continuing to provide the best possible care for Michigan’s citizens during this unprecedented and very challenging time.

    • I wonder if she knows that once a drug is FDA approved a physician can prescribe that drug for “off label” uses as he sees fit to do so. This is an old drug that is very inexpensive and, I imagine, production can be easily ramped up to meet demand. I’ve read some promising anecdotal reports of good outcomes of prescribing it and, in understanding the way it works at the cellular level, it makes sense doctors would have thought to try it. We don’t have time to do long-term scientific studies right this minute. It’s a relatively “harmless” drug with minimal side effects, so why not give it? What’s it going to hurt? The only potential danger is retinal damage with long-term use, so I have to have a retinal exam once a year. In 20 years the eye doctor has never seen a change to my retinas.

Bill Schutte, the former AG, who ran against her hardly campaigned at all. He was a Rino anyway. Fortunately theres a new breed of Republicans rising in Michigan, highlighted by John James.

Michiganders have woken up and see the threat. I know many, many Union guys and gals. The membership will vote against their leadership. Michigan has a habit of 8 years Republican, 8 years dem tyrant. But without the Union vote the tyrants are dead here.

Most people can tell someone is unstable by their looks and actions and she’s got it. She will soon be babbling in the corner along side her AG when the truth comes out about her Ukrainian connections in her campaign.

She is out of her league as governor but she won the election because the GOP ran a horrible candidate who did zero PR/campaigning and she did a lot. A lot of TV. The GOP idiot was never on TV.

    End of story.

    @GovWhitmer

This morning we received 112,800 N95 masks in our shipment from the strategic national stockpile w/8k more on the way. Great news for our health care workers. We’ll keep working hard along with FEMA and the White House to get more of the PPE we need to keep Michiganders safe.

I think this is an admission the Gov was late to act in aiding her constituents.

I heard from a source close to me that as late as this Friday, medical personnel directly attending to patients were only permitted 1 N95 mask for a 24 hour shift. Gretchen knew far earlier that the need for masks was there. I hope Michiganders kick this incompetent partisan witch to the curb.

    • MI has Certificate of Needs law –
Certificate of Need (or “CON,” for short) are laws in 38 states that attempt to control medical costs by limiting the supply of services and facilities to only what is needed, as determined by the state board or agency. Requiring government approval will prevent overbuilding and excess capacity, which drive up costs, the thinking goes.
The truth is, these laws haven’t worked as intended. CON laws did not limit the cost of healthcare. In fact, by eliminating competition from the healthcare industry, CON laws tended to drive up costs, lower quality, and limit the availability of needed services, according to a series of assessments from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice.

      Nice acronym, eh, “CON”
