“Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani who is at the center of Congress’ impeachment proceedings, said Friday he had given congressional Democrats a 2018 recording of President Trump discussing the dismissal of then-U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.

Parnas worked closely with Giuliani to further Trump’s efforts to pressure Ukraine to investigate his political rivals. Trump and his associates are known to have viewed Yovanovitch, who was a career official at the State Department and an anti-corruption crusader, as an impediment to their efforts.

Parnas located the clip after it was first reported by ABC News Friday, his attorney, Joseph Bondy, told The New York Times.

Bondy said it “is of high materiality to the impeachment inquiry” of Trump, the case for which House Democrats are presenting in the Senate. He added that the tape had been provided to the House Intelligence Committee whose chairman, Rep. Adam Schiff, is leading Democrats’ case for a conviction in the Senate.”

In a statement, Health and Human Services Director Roger Severino argued California’s rule, which requires insurance providers to cover abortions, violates federal law.

Severino said states receiving funding from the department “can’t discriminate against health plans that decline to cover abortions.” He added the rule also forces anti-abortion Americans to pay into plans that cover the procedure.”

            Hello lolli 🙂

The entirety of my knowledge about the virus is either intuitive or already reported: it is deadly, there is no vaccine, the ease of proliferation and transmission globally is frightening, and China being the epicenter of the outbreak assures that information necessary to sourcing and controlling the outbreak will be suppressed.

The student at Texas A&M has, to my knowledge, not yet been confirmed as having the virus. If he does have the virus, the challenge in identifying, quarantining, and treating those exposed to him during his travel is extremely difficult.

I have been wondering why they haven’t reported results on TX student. Thinking due to the number of others exposed that may need to be identified and spoken with…before the results are reported? Would they hide from fear? I don’t know the process.
The information is difficult to find on this virus. I guess as more countries are afflicted, more information will come out.
One problem I see coming up, (we already have a ton of flu cases here) people will think they have it and panic when they just have a cold, others will have it and spread it thinking they just have a cold.
Also, is it already here and being misdiagnosed?
              See following article👇

Your questions regarding reporting are good ones. People and institutions are afraid of the potential results, plus the government is highly concerned about raising the public’s alarm while trying to manage the situation, a difficult and narrow path to walk.

The article is very concerning. Children are notoriously prolific carriers of disease because of their activity, concentration in schools, and faulty hygiene (not washing hands, sneezing/coughing openly, etc.). The very significant outbreak of flu that is underway in SA could easily mask cases of the coronavirus.

The speed of contamination and lethality of the virus as a proportion of the number of people infected should soon be apparent world-wide. This may get very serious, very soon, or not.

The article is both encouraging in that it has been discovered in the bats, and concerning because the African continent is a Petri dish for communicable diseases.

Reputable epidemiologists and other medical scientists have said the world is overdue for a devastating pandemic. Biologically, we live in perilous times.

Just a little fun fact about the Senate before it goes into trial mode today.

Did you know that out of the 51 judicial nominations made by President Trump that were still valid on 1/1/2020 that dear Mitch only allowed 9 nominations to still be valid for the new 2nd session of the 116th Congress? That’s right, he dumped 42 of President Trumps judicial nominations.

Of those 9 nominations left 2 have been confirmed and President Trump has nominated 12 more judges. So we are back up to 19 current judicial nominations for 80 current judicial vacancies. On Sunday there will be another vacancy and yet another on Ground Hog Day = 82 vacancies on 2/2/2020.

    On to the trial–

I don’t know. Because he could? Because he could not get Schummer’s agreement? Because it was not important enough to him to press the matter? Kindly note that besides from the judiciary nominees there were also 100’s of President Trump’s nominees in other departments and the military that also were not “agreed upon” to be carried forth into the 2nd session of the 116th Congress and those vacant positions must also be renominated by President Trump.

Political and party power manipulations are always in play in all of these decisions.

Could be the same reason he is allowing this to go forward, hopes of alleviating the president of his position before they get nominated. Just a thought.

Would you please tell us how and why McConnell has the power to avoid the need for re-nominations between Sessions? The need to renominate between Sessions is common.

As of January 23, there are 84 Article III vacancies, 73 of which are current.

Once the remaining nominees are officially nominated, there will be 38 pending nominees: 10 waiting for floor votes, 9 waiting to be reported out of Committee, and 19 waiting for Senate Judiciary Committee hearings.

      Liked by 1 person

      • Paprika says:

        1. I say Mitch McConnell did this with the knowledge that it is actually the full Senate that has the power to forward or let lapse the nominees of the President for any position between sessions of Congress. But as majority leader he has the power and influence to set policy for the Senate’s upcoming new session.

And yes, fully agree and acknowledge that “need to renominate between Sessions is common”. But mainly because the Senate and President are of different parties or the Senate is not happy with the President’s nominations–so they “make” him to renominate same nominees or hope to force him to make different nominations.

        2. I gather my information from multiple sites, but mainly from uscourts.gov/judges official site. That site currently shows 79 current judicial and 12 future vacancies out of 890 judges(they have not updated yet to show the 1/23/20 future to current vacancy that occurred). And it shows 19 current judicial nominations and 3 future judicial vacancy nominees that are pending.

So some of our “differences in numbers” may come from differences in sources or definition of federal judges and Article III appointed by the President. Here’s what the US Court Government official site shows:

US Supreme Court =9 judges, 0 vacancies
US Court of Appeals=179 judges, 1 vacancy, 0 nominees
US District Court=677 judges, 70 vacancies, 15 nominees
US Court of International Trade=9 judges, 2 vacancies, 1 nomination
US Court of Federal Claims=16 judges, 6 vacancies, 3 nominations

        Total Judges=870, 79 current vacancies(+1 for 1/23/20), 19 current nominations (of those current nominations 7 are from 2019, 12 are from 2020)

But I agree with you that the US Court site seems to differ with the # of judges awaiting to be voted on and/or passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee to be voted on by the full Senate.

Just to be clear. All nominations pending at the end of a term are automatically dead.

The President is free to renominate somebody in the next term. Or to nominate someone else.

The question is why weren’t they voted on prior to the end of the term?

One complicating detail is McConnell modified the blue slip for Circuit Judges but not for District Judges. If a Senator does not return the blue slip of a District Judge Nominee from his state, than the Judiciary Committee will not consider that nomination. But Senators can no longer hold up Circuit Judge nominees if their state is part of the circuit.

It would be interesting to see the breakdown.

Professors Donate To Democrats Over Republicans By A 95:1 Ratio, New Study Finds
    24 Jan 2020

    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/professors-donate-democrats-over-republicans-951-ratio-new-study-finds

Diversity in hiring is the top priority of most colleges and universities. However, the effort to hire more women, minorities, and LGBT individuals notably lacks one group: ideological diversity.

It is well-known that most faculty are composed of an overwhelming majority of liberal and democratic members. However, this view, while generally accepted, is largely anecdotal. Now a new study by Heterodox Academy Director of Research Sean Stevens and Brooklyn College Professor Mitchell Langbert claims to have put hard numbers on that lack of diversity.

In reviewing records with the Federal Election Commission, they say that they found that professors gave to Democrats over Republicans by a 95:1 ratio.

The researchers looked at 2,301 political donations and found that 2,081 went to Democrats while just 22 went to Republicans. Only nine professors gave to both parties.

An earlier study found that Democrats outnumbered Republicans by a 10:4 ratio. Business Management Associate Professor Mitchell Langbert reviewed the party affiliations of 8,688 professors at 51 of the top 60 liberal arts colleges listed in U.S. News and World Report’s 2017 rankings.

RINO alert from here in Ohio: the head of the Ohio Republican Party tap dances to rationalize away RINO Governor Michael DeWine’s kowtowing to “refugee resettlement” pressures from the Left:

Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Timken wrote an error-riddled apologetics letter sent by email on Thursday to party members defending Gov. Mike DeWine’s refugee resettlement policy.

It is highly unusual for the chairman of a state’s Republican Party to defend the politically unpopular decision of the state’s governor. In most states, the chairman of the Republican Party focuses on building the party organization by raising money and focusing on getting out the vote at precinct level.

But in Ohio, apparently, the Republican Party chairwoman defines her primary objective as protecting the left flank of the sitting governor from grassroots opposition among the conservative base.

Is this a recent quote, or one given a while ago while the D leadership was browbeating him?

I doubt Van Drew has said anything since the party switch on his 2020 vote. DJT promised him a rally in his district, and will hold one January 28 in Wildwood. Van Drew will share the stage with DJT and receive DJT’s endorsement. I predict Van Drew endorses Trump, and says he switched not only because of impeachment, but because of the radicalization of the Democrat party as exemplified by their miserable gallery of candidates.

P.S. Van Drew comes from a solidly R district. A 20+ year R incumbent retired in 2018. Van Drew won as a Democrat because he had been a popular NJ Assemblyman in a district that included some of the Congressional District, and because 2018 was a big D year. Van Drew knew he would not likely win as a D in 2020, and that he most certainly would lose if he supported impeachment.

Then allegedly the Clinton Foundation got money from this bank. This is not verified, these emails and this allegation of IMF loans etc. Need to do more research, but it is interesting that all these players were in the Ukraine. Billions of dollars, crooked bank, and IMF Loans. Podesta, Manafort, Obama and Clinton allies and Russia all there in the Ukraine.

“Mr Pinchuk, worth between £1?billion and £2.5 billion, has befriended both Mr Blair and Mr Clinton, helping to bankroll the Tony Blair Faith Foundation with a donation of £320,000 while giving a further £700,000 to the Clinton Foundation in 2011.”

Which isn’t a big deal compared to some others. Until I read this:

Ukrainian and Russian media reports, echoing Reuters, the Wall Street Journal, and Fox News, claim that Pinchuk has been under pressure not to allow the High Court case to go ahead because of the evidence that might be forced into the open. Pinchuk is reported in the US to be under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for $13 million in donations he has made to the Clinton Foundation. The money, according to Russian investigations, came in part from theft and fraud involving $210 million at the Rossiya insurance company, which Pinchuk owned in Moscow and which he looted, according to Russian prosecutors and Moscow insurance regulators.

US media reports claim the FBI is investigating the relationship between Pinchuk, Hillary Clinton, her daughter Chelsea, her son-in-law, and the Clinton Foundation to determine “whether donors benefited from their contacts inside the administration.” Details of Pinchuk’s connexions to Clinton and his business benefits have been reluctantly disclosed by US reporters. For more on Pinchuk’s lobbying of US officials to obtain steel trade concessions, read this.

Mueller had previously referred both cases to the Southern District of New York as they fell outside of the scope of his investigation, but news regarding both cases has become limited in recent months.

Just more evidence of the deep state taking care of one of its own. My guess is that anyone involved in Spygate will also be taken care of in a similar manner!

Here is one of the reasons that I despise those who allow themselves to be taken in by the climate scam, and I also despise the so-called “conservatives” who scoff at environmentalists. We aren’t done yet, with our biggest concerns, clean air and clean water:

U.S. drinking water widely contaminated with ‘forever chemicals’: environment watchdog
    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-water-foreverchemicals-idUSKBN1ZL0F8?fbclid=IwAR2XN5ge_F9o0hCWUO5P7VesYwmnqK7PVoTo6lEPU9RCVMxnkoYlDIhACyk

This is an ongoing process, and we need not to let our guard down, and we can’t have the agencies responsible for safeguarding the necessities for life itself, bogged down in globalist scams and attempts to divert resources to them.
Nobody in Brussels or Paris knows what we in the USA need to do with our drinking water.
Our president has stated his commitment to these important goals more than once.
Where I think we could do better is in having whoever heads our EPA do more with outreach to the various serious environmental organizations, to reassure Americans that they are with us, and not in the pocket of industry, as many fear.

I could not agree more! The EPA has no problem regulating our toilets and the amount of water they use, but maybe, just maybe, they could clean up one, just one, superfund site. There are over 40,000 sites, 1,600 are listed on a priority list.and we are going nowhere on them. Let’s move some EPA employees next to a few of these to see if we can move them up in priority.

Thing is Trump will always be Trump no matter what others want, advise or try to pressure him to do.

With all the hysterics about President Trump firing an ambassador which is his prerogative, how about this? Was anyone having a conniption fit?

Obama Gives Political Ambassadors Their Pink Slips
    By Glenn Kessler
The incoming Obama administration has notified all politically-appointed ambassadors that they must vacate their posts as of Jan. 20, the day President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office, a State Department official said.

The clean slate will open up prime opportunities for the president-elect to reward political supporters with posts in London, Paris, Tokyo and the like. The notice to diplomatic posts was issued this week.

Political ambassadors sometimes are permitted to stay on briefly during a new administration, but the sweeping nature of the directive suggests that Obama has little interest in retaining any of Bush’s ambassadorial appointees.

  39. My dad, a WW II vet (Pacific Theater), and nearing his 94th birthday, watches MSM, although probably mostly Fox. Fortunately, he also reads whatever my siblings and I send him links to, so he is not totally in the dark.

Yesterday he sent us this original creation:

A pretty story I will tell
With measured speech, not in a yell:
    In eastern Europe, there exists
    A smallish nation, which resists
    Encroachment by the Russian bear…
But at the time we didn’t care.
    Crimea with its naval port
    In brazen and illegal tort
    Invaded and annexed as well–
    For citizens, a human hell.
    Obama and his Democrats
    Helped mightily against the rats
    Who with their military power
Had plunged the world into this hour
Of danger and of death so deep
    It seemed impossible to sleep
While this vile crime was taking place
So Democrats tried to save face.
    “Brothers, here are MRE’s
And blankets too, to warm your knees!”
While tanks were rolling on the street
We sent them hamburgers to eat!

But when we found a better leader
Who proved to be a better reader
Of needs for stronger measures which
Could put invaders in the ditch,
And slow the vast invading tanks
Of Russian soldiers in their ranks
With weapons which contained some starch,
And slow the evil Russian march.
Hope was retained in small Ukrain…
    “The USA is back again!”

But now we’ve got dear Adam Schiff,
    Pelosi, Nader, on a tiff
To tell our country, what a shame
Our leader caused, he gets the blame
And put us in a risky spot,
Did he ask us? No, he did not.
He caused disaster when he sought
To see what those funds really bought
He waited for a week or two
Before he let those funds go through.
    Besides, we’ve always hated him.
The reason now gets kind of dim,
But maybe though we’re only hintin,’
It’s ’cause he beat our Hillary Clinton!
