Tuesday October 29th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

You start unpacking all that mess and I could write all day. Our youth are precious and should be sheltered.

There’s an incident I was involved in after I retired where I and another individual had to make a short trip to convince an individual that it would be in hi best interests to leave a certain person alone. It was along these lines and resolved itself nicely as the person in question was very open to personal discussion.

What most people don’t realize is the breadth and depth of the sex-slavery business. If you live in a major city, especially a tourist-oriented city, it’s as huge an underground business as drugs or that big-box store. It’s a vital part of the tourist industry, the cabbies, the bar tenders, the concierges – they almost all know where to find fresh flesh.
If you have a convention, sports team and/or primary tourist venue in your city then the drug and ‘escort’ business is as vital and functioning as the bar/restaurant businesses. If you have a movie/TV production business then it’s usually as vital as the catering business.

The street hookers get busted by the cops, it’s a revolving door business, but the more professional escort services, even the bigger and shadier ‘to the left of legal’ ones somehow manage to operate quite well. If a street cop busts a street hooker it’s a bust, were that same street cop to bust a worker from the more expensive venues he’d most likely be chided (at least the 1st time) that such things are to be reported to vice. You know that there are some things/persons you don’t mess with. Ditto hotels – you mess with their ‘client services’ and your free coffee/meals dry up and someone may start making calls to someone.

I sweat my new grandson and 5 great grandkids, two are girls and the things they’re being taught in school, the girls especially, worries me. My new grandson’s dad is very conservative, my grandson and his wife are sort of conservative and my GGS’;s mom here is strict and conservative but the schools keep up a steady drumbeat of a more hedonistic lifestyle, trying to undermine more traditional morals. Any kind of sex is considered valid and acceptable, making the exploitation of sex workers seem that much more a labor versus a moral/legal issue. Lines are being blurred while laws are being ignored by those charged with making and enforcing those laws and the industry flourishes right under the noses of regular folks who just don’t want to know.

Think about this czar, people kill their babies inside themselves AND outside themselves. Purposefully. Then move to the next five years of caring for a child, most go to daycare, why? That answer will cover every bit of why kids are now a hinderance not the blessing they are.
Move to the next twelve years, where’s JR. Why is he in the public schools? Same answer. It’s a whole culture that will have to recognize these issues and frankly without a move of God in mass we are not going to see a change.
Like I have said before it’s much harder to regain what we have lost then to hold and protect what we have.

By making children the property of the state the state depersonalizes them and removing some of that parental bond. Makes it easier for the ‘child production units’ to accept the loss when the state decides that particular piece of state property needs to be disposed of. At whatever age.

Paul, the Pattern — His Conversion

No conversion in sacred history is given so much attention as that of St. Paul. Besides the many references to it, we find three detailed accounts of it in the book of Acts. As Saul of Tarsus, the learned Pharisee, he had led his nation and the world in rebellion against God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

St. Luke says: “As for Saul, he made havock of the church” (Acts 8:3). The believers at Damascus feared Saul’s presence among them, saying: “Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem?” (Acts 9:21). Paul himself later testified: “Many of the saints did I shut up in prison…and when they were put to death, I gave my voice [vote] against them” (Acts 26:10). “…beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it [laid it waste]” (Gal.1:13).

There must have been an important reason why God saved this rebel leader. Clearly it was that He might make Paul, not only the herald, but the living example of “the exceeding riches of His grace” to sinners. Paul himself said:

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

Acts 8:3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

Acts 9:21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

Acts 26:10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

Galatians 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

    1 Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

“He hath made Him to be sin for us…that we might be made there righteousness of God…” 2 Cor. v. 21

The modern view of the death of Jesus is that He died for our sins out of sympathy. The New Testament view is that He bore our sin not by sympathy, but by identification. He was MADE TO BE SIN. Our sins are removed because of the death of Jesus, and the explanation of His death is His obedience to His Father, not His sympathy with us. We are acceptable with God not because we have obeyed, or because we have promised to give up things, but because of the death of Christ, and in no other way. We say the Jesus Christ came to reveal the Fatherhood of God, the loving-kindness of God; the New Testament says He came to bear away the sin of the world. The revelation of His Father is to those to whom He has been introduced as Saviour. Jesus Christ never spoke of Himself to the world as one Who revealed the Father, but as a stumbling block (see John xv. 22-24). John xiv. 9 was spoken to His disciples.

That Christ died for me, therefore I go scot free, is never taught in the New Testament. What IS taught in the New Testament is that “He died for all” (not – He died my death), and that by identification with His death I can be freed from sin, and have imparted to me His very righteousness. The substitution taught in the New Testament is twofold; “He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM.” It is not Christ for me unless I am determined to have Christ formed IN me.

So who is starting all those wildfires on Chinafornia and why? Of course idiots like AOC are blaming “global warming” and “climate change” but the fact is that 95% of them are caused by people. Either intentionally or accidentally nearly all the fires on the west coast have been attributed to human influences.

“Just last week, San Jose police arrested 68-year-old Freddie Graham of Missouri as he attempted to board a flight back home after visiting the area for a high school reunion. Deputy District Attorney Bud Porter told the KANSAS CITY STAR that Graham had rented a car and drove the narrow, windy roads near Calaveras Reservoir in September, pitching lighted pieces of paper out the car window along the way. Police believe Graham set at least 13 fires over two days that were collectively referred to as the Reservoir Fire, according to the East Bay Times.”

As old Paul Harvey would say, “Now, for the REST of the story.” Things like this are what the mainstream news routinely omit from their reports as they constantly push the climate change and orange man bad narrative.

Long-timers will know that one of my favorite hemorrhoids, we’ve been irritating each other for 50 years now as of 2019.

The local Big Box VA director held a meeting last year for those of us up here in flyover country, telling us how the new almost-billion-dollar VA complex was less likely to kill its patients or – when they called – leave them on ‘hold’ long enough to raise a chicken. He even left a cell phone number for complaints that could be brought directly to him were you to have some issue that the friendly, helpful VA staff couldn’t manage to make worse.

I only use them for my hearing aids – makes it harder for them to finish off the job the VC/NVA and various Moslem groups couldn’t before I retired. Well my charger went tango-uniform and I need a replacement. So at 0800 yesterday I try the new and improved system , all I need to do is talk to the audiologist at the small clinic that ‘supports’ us here. She said that were I to ever need her help all I needed to do was to ask for her and she’d return my calls, we could cut through the bureaucratic BS and get it done. Two days now and no return call from the clinic, no help from the main hospital center and I’m being told my only option is to schedule an appointment, drive almost 80 miles one way to the clinic to turn in the dead charger, wait for a new charger to come in and then drive 80 miles back to pick it up. I can’t just mail it and have then mail it back, no no, they need my body there to show veteran use/throughput. They will reimburse me – eventually – for the mileage but it won’t cover my real costs and will cost the tax payer much more than the one-way mailing of the new charger to me. As it were I managed to avoid their plan to have me first drive 20 miles to whom they’ve designated as my VA ‘primary care physician’ to get a referral to the clinic to replace my charger – more bureaucratic BS. It just never ends.

czar, I feel your pain. I am now calling the various VA providers “gatekeepers.” It is a 65+ mile drive for me (one-way) and the state gets it share in toll revenues. This can mean a 1 hr. appt. at Hines VA turns into 2+ hr. visits when you throw in the labs, etc. Had to also pick up an Rx at my last visit and kill 40 mins waiting (Ha, ha, ha, not driving back for it). Hines covers approximately 5 (?) miles of real estate, it is HUGE.

New Orleans VA and the LSU medical center are all brand new and cover about 60 acres downtown. The state screwed FEMA into building the LSU part after Big Charity was flooded even though the Army, while they were here, completely cleaned and refurbished it and it was approved to open. That’s a whole nuther story.

The LSU med center is also a teaching facility and has the VA to send its doctors-in-training to so they can practice on vets who have no other option and no abilities to sue for damages. It’s win-win. The VA gets doctors who speak English and can actually get liability insurance when they go to private practice and the state gets real and disenfranchised dummies to practice on and the state doesn’t get complaints from animal lovers about their practicing on strays. See, we’re good for something.

Our ‘local’ VA clinic looks like a Katrina mobile home (it is a mobile home) without wheels. You’re sent there where the single MD redirects you to one of the clinics, the main one 75 miles south, the other one 75 miles west or perhaps the one on the coast 75 miles southeast. You can file for mileage compensation but I’ve had it takes a minimum of 60 days to get a check in the mail – and that’s when they don’t screw that up.

I see that they’ve fixed the pharmacy system – we used to have to help a few disabled vets in wheelchairs get their scrips. They’d have to be in the pharmacy waiting area at opening, submit their requests and wait sometimes 8 hours for the delivery. We’d sit with them as if they had to get something to ea/drink or go to the bathroom they were in danger of losing their positions having to go back in the queue. Now they have a workable mail order and pickup system.

They’ve also cleaned up the intake system. The old city indigent hospital used to be just across the street from the old VA and they’d send mental cases or homeless they suspected to be vets over to the VA intake. There’d be ‘damaged’ individuals claiming to be vets or just wearing random pieces of military clothing wandering thru and clogging up intake on a daily basis.

At least pour original enemies tried to kill us quickly and cleanly.

We have four dogs and one cat. ( We lost four dogs to different types of cancer the past 18 months). The cat was abandoned by her feral mother when the cat was four weeks old. We live in the county, very rural.
(We caught the feral mother and had her spayed)

Two dogs have nothing to do with the cat, while the other two dogs play with the cat.

Four weeks ago the cat and her two playmate dogs were outside in the yard. We heard incessant barking and decided to check out what was going on, worried it was a rattlesnake.

We saw the dogs running around then saw the object of their interest…..a baby cottontail rabbit. The cat was calm, sitting, watching all this commotion.

The rabbit escaped from the yard. In a flash the cat went after the rabbit, caught it, and brought the rabbit back to the yard. The cat let the rabbit loose, sat down, and once again calmly watched the dogs chase the rabbit.

We were standing there dumbfounded at what we witnessed. The cat was sharing her catch with her two buddies, letting them have some fun.

We caught the rabbit, made sure it had no injuries, took it down the road, let it loose in a wash with trees and a lot of brush. I was surprised the baby rabbit did not have a heart attack.

Our three dogs have been tossed out on our farm over the years. We had a 4th but he died after we spent two years trying to treat his epilepsy. We also have 4 cats that have showed up over the years, 3 are working cats, one’s a fat cat.

Our border collie mix, Daisy, will chase rabbits but won’t hurt them, mice are a different story. A couple of years ago we watched her lying flat in the backyard by the satellite pole. We went over and there were three baby bunnies in a nest in the grass. We thought she’d scared the mother off but mom comes hopping back. Daisy got up, moved a few feet back and momma hooped up, picked up one of the bunnies and carried it off to her new nest. Daisy moved back and waited – momma did that for the other two. The cats will catch and kill rabbits and as three are regularly outside all we could think was Daisy was making sure they didn’t bother the rabbit.

It’s hard to tell what our dogs’ pasts have been, two out of our 3 were adults when they came to us so we don’t know what they were prior but they have some interesting behaviors now.

Mark Zuckerberg is getting pushback at FaceBook for his proposal to NOT censor posts from politicians, “even if they are false”! Oh good grief, what kind of idiots does he employ? His employees seem totally unaware of the possibility that their judgement about truth and falsehood might not be absolutely perfect! The casualness of their statements concerning the need to censor “untrue” comments implies that they believe they have the right, ability, and duty to make sure only things they agree with are published to the world! God help us!

If FaceBook implements the policies these employees insist on, it will either be a disaster for FB, or for a free society. It looks like the choice they are forcing on us is “us or them”. If such a powerful force insists on determining what can be said publicly and what cannot, they must be destroyed.
