“We are living in the Trump era,” the professor said. “And look, those policies kill our people.”

Good push back – those talking point statements they have, trying to disguise them as questions. Only PDJT can push back like that. So glad those “press conferences” with his surrogates are OVER and it is only ones like this and the chopper pressers, where he can hit back hard.

I’ve listened to many a foreign press conference with foreign leaders and President Trump. Today I lucked into listening live on the Washington Examiner between Italy’s president and President Trump. It’s long but worth every minute. Our president on his 1000th day in office speaks more to the American People and the World than any I’ve ever listened too: intelligent, honest, reasonable. Listen near the end to President Trump’s comments on why US troops should come home: 7000 miles away and decades of lost military American lives. No other President has had the courage and insight to say this. Too many distant countries rely on the USA for doing their military nasties. Time to bring our troops home and lower our military industrial financing except to absolute necessary.

I’m all for Europeans spending more for their own defense, but more importantly, we need to spend a lot LESS for their defense. If they’re really worried about being invaded by Russia – a country with the GDP of Canada (no offense, Canada) – they’ll step up and defend themselves. And there’s no sense in defending Europe against a Muslim invasion while the Europeans are inviting them in.

Another thing about Turkey’s incursion into Syria: it should concentrate the minds of Brits about whether they want to remain in the EU when an EU member (Turkey) is an autocratic Muslim state that just invaded a sovereign country. Any Brit who looks at Turkey invading Syria and doesn’t immediately conclude that the U.K. should hurry up and do a “hard Brexit” needs to have their head examined. The flow of refugees isn’t about to stop, and if the UK stays in the EU, those refugees will eventually make their way to Britain. Nobody likes hummus that much.

        • Sentient says:

Correction: Turkey is not an EU member yet. Yet. My point remains.

          • SAM-TruthFreedomLiberty says:

You are right though that Turks are very tightly connected to the EU. The EU theoretically has huge leverage on Turkey especially via tourism but instead gets played by Erdogan on the regular.
The EU could easily take away all leverage from Erdogan by just closing their borders as Erdogan is pressuring with sending refugees towards the EU but they don’t want cause of their SJW’s protesting. Stupid games.

President Trump threw the ball into their court to act and try to not look and act stupid..

        • WRB says:

Turkey is a member of NATO, and if attacked, the other members are supposed to come to their defense.

So in theory if the Kurds attacked Turkey, we and European members should help Turkey. On the other hand, if the US aids the Kurds (and Syria/Iran!) we are fighting a NATO member, and the Europeans should attack us! (or do they attack Turkey?!).

The more sane people are looking at this mess and saying, as long as we (and the world) have access to middle-east oil, as long as Israel is safe, as long as Iran is kept in its box, we can sit this out militarily, but engage diplomatically.

This is a good outcome. Still very unhappy that thousands were slaughtered by Turkey before the other troops joined the battle. Turkey, under Erdogan, is a plague against the West and should never have been admitted to NATO.

  9. SAM-TruthFreedomLiberty says:

Like yesterday I did go through some of the sources on Syria and want to post here to oppose the very simplistic and fake news on the MSM.
Some of them are good sources respected by others who observe the Civil War over there since years.

Most of the FRONT LINE FIGHTING is done by Turkish proxies which are Islamists.
The biggest fight is about the border town called Ras al-Ayn. Turkish forces are REPELLED by the Kurds!
The Kurds are well equipped for Urban warfare with IR sights and so on..(My guess: supplied by US)

They also build tunnels for years knowing the Turks might attack. In one instances they KILLED 50 Turkish Proxies(confirmed by Turks) after the proxies advanced into town. They showed up behind the enemy lines via their tunnels.

This areas is held by the Kurds alone which also means the Turkish army uses Air attacks and Artillery. In other areas the Syrian forces and Russians moved in and the Turks are refraining from such attacks leaving their proxies to fight on their own like in KOBANE. In these areas Kurds and Syrian forces are fighting the Islamist attackers off and are taking back areas.

As it looks right now the Turks are not making any gains and this will most probably end in a stalemate once the Russian back up is in place. This looks bad on Sultan Erdogan destroying his dreams of a “great Turkey”. Trump basically baited Erdogan into showing THE SULTAN HAS NO CLOTHES!
My guess is that the Russians will tell the Turks that they will keep the Kurds in check and that this ends the bigger conflict. RU will also have to deal with the remaining ISIS combatants.

For us it means we are OUT of this area and spare our resources while others have to spend.
Meanwhile my guess is that Pence and Pompeo are working to lower the Iranian influence in Syria.

I love how Trump advanced this creating leverage and new possibilities forward.

  25. Jim in TN says:

This fiat impeachment process is simply a blatant weaponizing of government as political muckraking.

It is a continuation of weaponizing the IC community against candidate Trump, and the subsequent weaponizing of the law enforcement community against President Trump, both of which have failed.

Never forget, to Democrats impeachment is political.

And now they have figured a way to generate false accusations to use politically by conducting secret hearings of political operatives who have some connection to government and leaking accusations.

At the same time, they are repudiating all Constitutional protections and conventions, and all western protections of the people they are attacking. They are also repudiating all convention and the existing House Rules, and all prior precedent.

And they are defying the will of the House as expressed in prior votes against impeachment.

Must be nice to be dictator.

Anything goes, and by all means necessary.

It is long past time to vote them out of office

    https://thefederalist.com/2019/10/16/top-diplomat-testified-that-obama-admin-not-international-community-orchestrated-ukraine-prosecutors-firing/ OCTOBER 16, 2019 By Sean Davis
A top U.S. diplomat and expert on Ukraine testified to Congress yesterday that the Obama administration — with former Vice President Joe Biden as its point man — orchestrated the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating a company connected to the Biden family, sources familiar with the testimony told The Federalist.

The testimony of George Kent, a State Department official who works on the agency’s Ukraine portfolio, directly contradicts claims that the Obama administration was merely following the lead of the so-called international community in demanding the firing of Viktor Shokin, a controversial Ukrainian prosecutor who was reportedly investigating Burisma, a global energy company long suspected of corruption and money laundering. In 2014, Burisma paid Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, tens of thousands of dollars to sit on its board despite the younger Biden’s complete lack of expertise or professional experience running a multi-national oil and gas concern

First thing to go down will be emergency services (police, fire, ambulance), then the power grid (electricity, phones, water). A refrigerator will be of no use, as will phones or radios.

Be prepared “just in case”. November is WINTER for many Americans, it will be very hard to survive even a week without preparing beforehand.
