Sunday June 16th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Tesla Driver Appeared to Be ‘Fully Sleeping’ for at Least 30 Miles on SoCal’s 405 Freeway
    Jun 14, 2019

A passenger in the car next to the Tesla captured images of the dozing driver on the notoriously busy 405 Freeway in two counties

“I realized he was fully sleeping,” he said. “Eyes shut, hands nowhere near the steering wheel.”

MCAS El Toro (April 27th, 2018)

    Published on Jul 7, 2018
I saw my 1st 6 Air Shows here from 1992-1997. The base closed on July 2nd, 1999. Friday April 27th, 2018, I decided to take my dog Layla on a little adventure around Former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. I originally didn’t plan on uploading this and keeping it for personal viewing, but decided people would like to see what El Toro looks like in 2018. Most of the runways & buildings have been demolished. These are the final remaining buildings & pieces of runway & taxi way left. Sorry for any shaking and fast panning. I had no tripod, had my dogs leash in one hand, and camera in the other. When I got close to the control tower (Which is still active by the FAA) & the “Evil Eyes” & “Knightriders” hangars which are right behind the tower, I was approached by security once & police once. They said I could take my shots but had to leave immediately after. So there was limited time on many shots.

Thanks much for the video. Killing the base was a complete WASTE of confiscated tax dollars. GOD help us

The man taping the video, Spencer Hughes, did a great job showing the destruction of a once proud USMC air base. Until I saw his video, I had no idea the land was sitting unused. President Clinton couldn’t care less about the base destruction, neither at the time he closed it nor now.

It was a totally going concern in 1961 when my friend was stationed there. In the latter part of 1961 he was transferred to Japan and flew reconnaissance…I suspect to assist in the decisions President Kennedy’s Administration was making regarding the Vietnam War.

    Light For The Soul
    by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

A Christian believer talking to an atheistic evolutionist one time, took his watch out of his pocket, noted the time and put it back in again, saying to his friend: “This is a wonderful watch; never misses a second. I never have to do anything to it, yet it keeps perfect time.”

“What make is it?” asked the evolutionist. “Oh, no make,” was the reply. “Well who manufactured it?” “Oh, no one. It just put itself together somehow.”

“Nonsense!” said the atheist. “A watch can’t just come into existence. Somebody had to manufacture it.”

“That’s true,” replied the Christian, “yet you expect me to believe that this vast universe with its billions of planets and stars, all revolving in perfect order, just came about by itself; that it has no Designer, no Creator, and no one to keep it running. Isn’t that nonsense!”

According to the Bible God holds the pagan world responsible for its idolatry and declares: “They are without excuse” (Rom. 1:20) because all that the heathen witness about God every day calls for their worship and praise and thanksgiving (Rom. 1:20,21). But they have not had this attitude. They have denied and rejected God and, as St. Paul says, they “became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened” (Ver. 21). It was thus that pagan idolatry, the worship of the creation, rather than the Creator (Ver. 25) had its beginning.

All this is very much like what we read in Ephesians 4:17,18 where God exhorts His people not to live like “the Gentiles,” in “the vanity [shallowness] of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.”

Not very complimentary, is it? But it does reflect the condition of the human heart without God and apart from faith in Christ our Savior. It explains why the world, with all its increased technical knowledge is worse off than ever.

How wonderful to know that “God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness,” can give light and joy and blessing to the simplest soul who places his faith in Christ, who died for our sins! (See IICor. 4:3-6; Acts 16:31; ICor. 15:3,4).

If you really think about it, an atheist has to deny his own spirit to actually deny there is no God. Your own spirit is connected to Gods Holy Spirit. There are a host of other incongruent ideas that take place for such denial but shows how they are separated within.
Everyone of us have a degree of that separation but to deny God would leave you without hope.
Very important to keep up your spiritual vitamins (thank God and praise him for all the victories in your life) lest you fall into temptation.

Another statue has to be removed. What’s going to be left?

In celebration of Oregon’s roots in pioneering, a statue of a pioneer, known simply as “The Pioneer,” was erected a century ago at the University of Oregon. And now, as the 100-year anniversary of the statue arrives, some in the campus community demand it be removed.

“‘The Pioneer’ is a monument to violent white supremacy, and as such it should not have a place of honor at a university striving to be inclusive, diverse, and just,” he said.

The leftists are willfully blind when it serves their purpose. They’ll rail against accomplishments (unless of course it fits their narrative). All humans are fallible. If you took away all of the accomplishments of a man/woman because they weren’t perfect, than there would be no one ever to look up to. No one ever to aspire to.

Maybe that’s exactly what the left wants.

    • Just put a statue of MLK next to it and drape it with a rainbow flag and everyone then should be satisfied. They’ll be wanting to tear down the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial next, if you let them. • I think that the Democrats had better scrap every one of these people and start looking for a REAL candidate somewhere among their ranks. Probably, someone you’ve never heard of before.

Every one of THESE people is “a career politician, nothing more.” Every one of them bought their way to the top, and so owes debts. Every one of them will obediently spout the same lines given to them by a teleprompter. That’s “the old way.” And “the old way” won’t work anymore.

In 2-1/2 years, the man that “the old school” confidently said couldn’t win, has accomplished more – entirely without the help of the Congress – than all of his predecessors collectively did in the last fifty. He brought entirely new ideas and quickly proved that they work. In the future, historians will be writing more books about this man than they wrote about Abraham Lincoln, but, like Lincoln, he is not recognized in his own time.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend.”…”I have called you friends.” John xv. 13, 15

Jesus does not ask me to die for Him, but to lay down my life for Him. Peter said – “I will lay down my life for Thy sake” and he meant it; his sense of the heroic was magnificent. It would be a bad thing to be incapable of making such a declaration as Peter made; the sense of our duty is only realized by our sense of the heroic. Has the Lord ever asked you – “Wilt thou lay down thy life for My sake?” It is far easier to die than to lay down the life day in and day out with the sense of the high calling. We are not made for brilliant moments, but we have to walk in the light of them in ordinary ways. There was only one brilliant moment in the life of Jesus, and that was on the Mount of Transfiguration; then He emptied Himself the second time of His glory, and came down into the demon-possessed valley. For thirty-three years Jesus laid out His life to do the will of His Father, and, John says, “we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” It is contrary to human nature to do it.

If I am a friend of Jesus, I have deliberately and carefully to lay down my life for Him. It is difficult, and thank God it is difficult. Salvation is easy because it cost God so much, but the manifestation of it in my life is difficult. God saves a man and endues him with the Holy Spirit, and then says in effect – “Now work it out, be loyal to Me, whilst the nature of things round about you would make you disloyal.” “I have called you friends.” Stand loyal to your Friend, and remember that His honour is at stake in your bodily life.

another black criminal suspect with a criminal history, track record of poor decision and a social media record of drugs, violence and anti police who was killed by police in the line of duty is being portrayed by the media as an outstanding community citizen. Riots in Memphis. More last night.
Heard about it in Sunday School this am. People with friends and family in the area are its people from the outside of the neighborhood stirring up trouble.

Even BET has to admit the guy was a criminal past. They say he “only” has 2 charges on his record. “only”?! Do they realize most of America go their entire life with None!–brando.amp.html

Notice in much of the leftist media Brandon Webber is called a “student” and “21-yr old dad”. He was a thug, wanted for murder, car theft, criminal record, 2 babies with 2 different women (from what I can tell, 2 different women), druggie, and on the record as planning to harm police. He was shot after ramming his car into the police cars and then exiting the vehicle with a gun when the police were trying to arrest him for murder. Looser thug and the leftist media is sympathetic and stirring up trouble.

We have seen this over and over again but I am still amazed at the biased, twisted coverage of the leftist media

Look at this spin! Describes it as the 21 yr old father (why say father v. murder suspect?) was killed in his front yard (why say his front yard? seeming to emphasize that he was attacked and not safe in his own home, as if he was just minding his own business and police attacked)
