Monday April 16th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    DAILY DEVOTIONAL – April 16, 2018

He Was Made Sin So I Could Be Made Clean.

“He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.” (Leviticus 1:4)

Our Lord Jesus, made sin on our behalf in His New Covenant (1), was foreshadowed by the transfer of sin to the offering under the Old covenant (Testament) which God had commanded to the nation Israel through His servant Moses. The laying of the hand was not a mere touch, for in other places in Scripture the Hebrew word conveys the meaning of leaning heavily, as in the expression, “Your wrath lies heavy upon me” (2).

Surely this is the very essence and nature of saving faith in Christ. Saving faith not only brings us into contact with our great Substitute, but also teaches us to lean our heavy-laden burden with all of its guilt and shame completely upon Him (3). God the Father commanded that the offenses of His old covenant people be atoned for by the shed blood of endlessly sacrificed bulls and goats. This pointed to, and was capstoned by, the final, never to be repeated sacrifice of His own dear Son on the cross. Under the new covenant the sinner is enabled, by God’s gift of grace through faith, to lay his hand upon the head of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (4).

Believer, do you remember that wonderful day when you first received pardon through Jesus Christ, your sin-bearer? Can you make a glad confession (5) and join with the writer in saying, “My soul recalls the day of deliverance with delight. Burdened with guilt and full of fears, I saw my crucified Savior as my Substitute, and I laid my hand on Him—-timidly at first, but courage grew and confidence (6) was confirmed until I leaned my soul entirely upon Him. And now it is my unceasing joy to know that my sins are no longer counted against me but were all laid on Him (7)”. Like the debts of the wounded traveler, our Good Samaritan, the Lord Jesus Christ, says of all my future trespasses: ‘Charge that to My account.’

My numerous sins, transferred to Him,
    Shall never more be found,
Lost in His blood’s atoning stream,
    Where every crime is drowned!

The forgiven, debt-free traveler can only wonder at such love, living henceforth to obey and love back the One Who first loved me (8).

I had the good fortune to see Alan Parsons live in a small Jazz Room at Yoshi’s in Oakland a couple years ago. Pretty much the exact same band members as above. Among other tunes, Parsons played the entire I-Robot from beginning to end as a suite … as he intended it. It was brilliant! He and his band were brilliant. I-Robot is a coveted lp by audiophiles because of the incredible quality and detail of the recording. Many top quality remasters and repressings have been made, aimed at the audiophile collector. I happen to own a Classic Records 45rpm test pressing of the lp … which sounds incredible.

Hope this makes you smile Art

Well the age-old feuds between Vietnam and China are resurfacing. Hanoi’s had a claim on oil deposits in the Spratly Islands for years now an leased exploration block in an internationalyy recognized Vietnamese economic zone a Spanish firm. The Spanish firm’s permissions were withdrawn by Hanoi after Beijing threatened military actions if the firm dared start to drill.
The more Hanoi democratizes its state the angrier Beijing gets, as Vietnam oooooozes to a more liberal and less Communist/Leninist state China rankles. China tried to invade Vietnam in 1979 and got its ass handed to it – that was one of the things (along with the fall of Russia and its withdrawing from VN) that moved Hanoi closer to the US. Hanoi and DC have even been talking about the US Navy moving back in to some of our old bases – let’s see if China’s poking Hanoi and Trump’s seemingly poking Beijing has us moving VN vet’s grandchildren back into our old hooches.

“China tried to invade Vietnam in 1979 and got its ass handed to it . . .’

When the Chinese invaded in ’75 their plan was to win a quick victory before Vietnam could organize an effective response to their invasion. Instead of main-force units on their border, “all” Vietnam had were reserves. What the Chinese underestimated, however, was the quality of Vietnam’s reserves. The Chinese discovered that they were facing combat veterans who’d spent years fighting Americans to a standstill in the south. Vietnam planned on using the reserves to hold the attack until it could call up it’s main-force units. Instead, the fight was essentially over before they were needed.

China also had a faulty ‘leftover from Mao’ military structure. Part of the reason China attacked was VN pushing its rights to territorial claims in the Spratlys, here we are again.
After they held a review of their dismal failure in VN the US was asked to help establish an NCO corp in the Chinese military, that age-old problem of no grunt bein g ablev to move or think for himself without a Party officer telling him what to do hampered their ability to fight.
Part of the reason lesser quality troops were used was Beiojing feared the Soviets might attack China as VN was a key Russian client state. China badly misjudged NVA capabilities butv also placed more than half of its regular troops on the Russian-Chinese border to meet an expected Russian response to their invading VN. The VN raid was more punitive, their real worry was Russian reaction. They blew that one.

Garrison, your phrase “…fighting Americans to a standstill in the south,” perhaps needs a bit of clarification. The U. S. government wickedly lost that war because they wanted to lose it. That loss cannot be laid at the feet of the Americans actually doing the fighting via our navy, Marines and army.

Sort of how the Chinese shun other Chinese with gweilo significant others and especially their black/white ghost children.
The Chinese are one of about 5 Communist nations left and are desperate to maintain internal order, fighting the external forces of change. They’ve totally cut China off from the international internet, still control foreign interaction domestically and limit the press and entertainment media – a smallish country in usable landmass and 20% of the world’s population. Let’s see how long they can keep this up.

    What’s the Word?

“…if any man hear My words, and believe not, I judge him not; for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

“He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:47,48).

I’m sure that the unbelievers among the Lord’s hearers were relieved to hear Him say that He had not come to judge them. But some of them may have remembered hearing Him say that “the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son” (John 5:22). Well, if the Father committed all judgment to the Son, how could the Son say that He had not come to judge people?

The answer to this question is found in “rightly dividing the Word of truth” (II Tim. 2:15). You see, the Lord was making a dispensational statement. He had not come to judge the world in His first coming, but in His second coming, He will come to “judge and make war” (Rev. 19:11).

Then, after the fiery judgment of the Second Coming (II Thes. 1:7,8), “God…hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained” (Acts 17:30,31). We know that Paul speaks here of the Lord Jesus Christ since he goes on to say of this man “that He hath raised from the dead.” In that day, the day that the Lord described as “the last day” (John 12:48), the unsaved of all ages will stand before the Great White Throne (Rev. 20:11), where they will be judged guilty and condemned to the lake of fire (vv. 12-15). It is concerning this judgment that the Lord said, “the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48).

Did you ever wonder what word will judge men in the last day? Believe it or not, this question must also be answered dispensationally! The word by which the Lord will judge unbelievers among the Jews to whom He was sent under the kingdom program (Matt. 15:24) is different than the word by which unbelievers who lived in the dispensation of grace will be judged.

The word by which unbelievers in the kingdom program will be judged was, as the Lord said in our text, a word that He had “spoken” during His sojourn here on earth. He gives us a hint as to what word that might be when He went on to call this word “a commandment” that the Father had given Him (v. 49), adding: “And I know that His commandment is life everlasting” (v. 50). Thus we know that whatever word the Lord spoke that will judge unbelievers under the kingdom program, it is a word that gave everlasting life to those that did believe this word.

He was speaking, of course, of the word of the gospel. It is the gospel that saves men’s souls in any dispensation, and it is the gospel that will judge men guilty if they do not believe it. In the kingdom program, the gospel word that gave eternal life was Jesus is the Christ (John 6:67-69). This is the word that will someday judge unbelievers who lived under the kingdom program when they stand before the Great White Throne if they refused to believe the word of that gospel.

Of course today, in the dispensation of grace, it is not enough to have the kind of “faith in His name” (Acts 3:16) that constitutes believing that “Jesus is the Christ” (John 20:31; I John 5:1). Today you have to have “faith in His blood” (Rom. 3:25) to be saved; that is, you have to believe that “Christ died for our sins” and rose again (I Cor. 15:1-4). When unbelievers who lived in the dispensation of grace stand before the Lord’s Great White Throne, this is the word of the Lord by which they will be judged, the word He spoke through Paul.

How do we know that unbelievers from the dispensation of grace will be judged by the word of a different gospel? It is because our apostle Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles (Rom. 11:13; 15:16), describes the last day as “the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel” (Rom. 2:16), not according to the word that the Lord spoke when He ministered to the Jews. As you can see, even the very gospel of salvation has to be rightly divided!

We sometimes hear it said that rightly dividing the Word of truth is “an interesting doctrine, but not a very practical doctrine.” We couldn’t disagree more. What could possibly be more practical than knowing which words of Scripture have the power to give eternal life in the dispensation of grace, and which words will judge men guilty of their sins when they believe them not? Dispensationalism doesn’t just help us when it comes to figuring out things like why the Lord said He wasn’t sent to judge men after the Father committed all judgment to Him. Rightly dividing the Word ensures that we are able to make a clear presentation of the gospel that saves men’s souls to those who will suffer the flames of eternal torment without it.

NY Post just did a small piece “Magazine editors turn blind eye to Melania” but I didn’t find a way to comment on it, so I’m tagging something missing from the article here.

First, I’d dispute their numbers. They are far greater. I’ve worked in a large grocery store through out the Obama administration and still do (mil-retirement job). The Obama’s have been on one or more magazine cover for every week through out his entire administration. I can still count on one hand how many times Melania has been on a cover since the election, never mind the inauguration.

Second and more important is this is by design a deliberate psy-ops tactic played out against the American people by the establishment press. By not allowing Melania on the cover of magazines found on the check out counter they deny your average jane and joe a chance to be seen. They deny the public the opportunity to grow close to first family, no affinity formed. Melania is a very likeable person and if you form an affinity with her, you form it with her husband and they don’t want that. If something negative happ

Strange, I didn’t post that, it posted itself… let me finish.

If something negative happens to Donald, you would naturally worry about Melania. The establishment press does not want that bond formed. We don’t notice this because we seek our information. The average jane and joe do not, they mostly get it passively and they are being denied their first lady and the chance to create a bond. I would dare say the president’s approval ratings would be well above the 50% they are now if they just treated her and his family like they have any other president. I don’t say this lightly. If that affinity was formed people would be much quicker to question and examine what comes out of MSM concerning the Trumps and his presidency.

Anyway enough said, and maybe they feel she’s just too likeable that it gives Donald an unfair advantage so they think its their duty to keep her from the public.

Sorry, Europe – you can kiss goodbye that open and tolerant (dare I say … “progressive”?) society you’ve strived to build the past few decades.

You’ve made your choice. And you chose wrong.

Syria and the United States. These are not the end times. We are in Paul’s epistles (aka “the mystery”, because it was kept hidden from Satan and not revealed in the OT).

        Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

After we exit, there is still Hebrews to Revelation to go (in the prophetic scriptures).

1Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Why does he exaggerate? We (and France and GB) bombed 3 chemical weapons facilities. I don’t think those facilities were Christian sanctuaries. In fact I would say that those facilities were intended to produce weapons that would ultimately harm and kill Christians. He posted that ignorant tweet on April 13. I didn’t check to see if he had a subsequent moment of clarity.

“In accordance with paragraph 11 of Council decision EC-83/DEC.5, the second round of inspections at the Barzah and Jamrayah facilities of the SSRC was concluded on 22 November 2017. The results of the inspections were reported as an addendum (EC-87/DG.15/Add.1, dated 28 February 2018) to the report entitled “Status of Implementation of Executive Council Decision EC-83/DEC.5 (dated 11 November 2016)” (EC-87/DG.15, dated 23 February 2018). The analysis of samples taken during the inspections did not indicate the presence of scheduled chemicals in the samples, and the inspection team did not observe any activities inconsistent with obligations under the Convention during the second round of inspections at the Barzah and Jamrayah facilities.”

Romans 10:5-13 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
5 For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is [a]based on law shall live [b]by that righteousness. 6 But the righteousness [c]based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), 7 or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 [d]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, [e]resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [f]resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be [g]disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Haha. Did you all see the Drudge-linked story about Starbucks tossing a couple of black guys out of a Philadelphia shop? And now the snowflakes are demanding a boycott of Starbucks? Poor Starbucks, worked sooooo hard to be a friend of the snowflakes, to engage in all of their stupid hastag campaigns, to be outwardly hateful toward white people and straight people. And yet the snowflakes still turn on them hahahaha http://www.newsweek.com/calls-grow-boycott-starbucks-after-two-black-men-arrested-not-ordering-886355 The two black guys weren’t ordering anything. They wanted to use the restroom though, and Starbucks employees told them that the restroom was for paying customers only. The two guys were asked to leave and they refused. Starbucks employees called 911 for police assistance. The cops ended up arresting the two guys. The two guys claimed that they were “waiting for a friend” (uh huh). There is video of the arrest only, not the events leading up to the arrest (of course, because that would exonerate Starbucks).

See Starbucks? You can’t befriend snowflakes. They are like pitbulls, you work so hard to befriend them and then one day they get irked for some random reason and turn on you and rip your head off.

The story reminded me of watching Oprah, or some such uber-wealthy black woman describe how she was “profiled” as a poor black woman at some pricey purse boutique where the cheapest bag is $10k. That she was treated with dismissive disdain by the sales staff … and was “followed” around the store as if she were going to STEAL one of the bags.

Cry me a river. THIS white boy has been similarly “profiled” for not being dressed appropriately in similar stores. Meh. And I was “profiled” in the San Diego airport as a drug smuggler … because I still wear my hair unfashionably-long, and was wearing my “terminator” RayBans, and was hot, sunburned, and sweating, having rushed to the airport after my sons LATE soccer match. Yes, profiled for drug screening with my 10yo son by my side. HA! I LAUGHED … and told the DHS agent that I would have profiled ME too! I guess I should have video-taped my inconvenience, posted it on YouTube and hired a Lawyer to SUE!!!

With all the blather in the MSM “news” a rather significant event occurred yesterday that seems to be totally missed while they yammer on about Comey, Russia, and whatever other stupidity. We apparently had a near miss by a “previously unknown” asteroid that came within about 0.5 lunar distance from the earth. Apparently while NASA is busy predicting ever increasing temperatures, they were not looking up at the sky. Had it been a bit closer it could have ruined someone’s day. Reference:

Go down to the middle of the Duran article and you will see the blurred photo of the young girl running after her family was supposedly killed. It is a fake, here is the music video where the photo came from. You will see the young girl running at approximately 3:45 in the video. I must warn you that the video has some VERY GRAPHIC, violent images. So if you don’t have a strong constitution, just go to the 3:45 mark in the video.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
