Secretary Rex Tillerson Discusses North Korea and Pending U.S. Talks Between President Trump and Kim Jong-Un…

During a press availability with Djiboutian Foreign Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was asked about the recent stunning developments between the U.S. and North Korea. The Q&A segment is outlined below:

QUESTION: Thank you so much. Mr. Secretary, for months you’ve been saying that conditions are not yet right for talks with North Korea, and that you would know it when you saw it. Less than 24 hours ago, that was still your position. What changed in the last 24 hours that gave the Trump administration confidence that now is the right time? Can you explain the logic behind starting this process, talks about talks, as you’ve described it at the level of the leaders of the country? And did you know when you made those comments yesterday that this meeting was in the works?

SECRETARY TILLERSON: With respect to talks with North Korea versus negotiations – and I think this seems to be something that people continue to struggle with the difference. My comments have been that we’re – the conditions are not right for negotiations, but we’ve been saying for some time we are open to talks.

President Trump has said for some time that he was open to talks and he would willingly meet with Kim Jong-un when conditions were right and the time was right. And I think in the President’s judgment, that time has arrived now. So there’s no – in my comments yesterday, I was indicating comments about negotiations, but we’ve been open for talks for some time.

In terms of the decision to engage between President Trump and Kim Jong-un, that’s a decision the President took himself. I spoke to him very early this morning about that decision and we had a good conversation. This is something that he’s had on his mind for quite some time, so it was not a surprise in any way, because I think this has long been something. He’s expressed it openly before about his willingness to meet with Kim Jong-un.

So now, I think it’s a question of agreeing on a timing of that first meeting between the two of them and a location, and that will take some weeks before we get all that worked out. So no surprise.

We know that there’s been a lot of discussion, and you’ve been reading about it too through the intra-Korean dialogue. We also had been having contacts back and forth with them, as you’re well aware, through channels that we have had open for some time. And I think this was the most forward-leaning report that we’ve have had in terms of Kim Jong-un’s, not just willingness, but his strong desire for talks.

So I think it was really – what changed was his posture in a fairly dramatic way that, in all honesty, was a – came as a little bit of a surprise to us as well that he was so forward-leaning in his conversations with the delegation from South Korea. (LINK)

Yes, the difference between talks and negotiations. Big difference, and Sec. Tillerson picks up on it, emphasizes, properly. Dirt Bag Media (DBM) and even some Administration spox not picking up on the difference. Should be.

DBM never will understand that a self-confident and duty-focused person can talk with anyone without suffering loss of prestige. Spiritual grandeur bestows that freedom.

Always, Pharisees — Puritans, White-Washed Tombs — fault the great ones for going among the down-trodden in order to restore their spirits and get them moving again.

For those who have not been following the posts by Q, it would help to explain the post above a little.

Q refers to the CIA as Clowns In America, or “Clowns” for short.

The claim is that rogue elements of the CIA (which elements of CIA are NOT rogue?) have been running North Korea for decades, as a sort of Rogue Headquarters, and Kim is a CIA puppet. Google dirtbag Eric Schmidt was photographed with slimy Bill Richardson (Clinton crony and Gov. of New Mexico) in a NK military facility.

Further, Google was created by the CIA to spy on everybody, Schmidt works for the CIA, that’s why he was in NK.

According to Q, the Trump administration cut the rogue CIA’s strings, freed Kim from their control, and made a deal with Kim.

And that is why talks are moving forward, because the rogue elements of the CIA are no longer in control of North Korea.

      That’s the basics, anyway.

          “You have quite an imagination.”

Nothing to do with “my” imagination, I’m just conveying what Q has said, and photos he has posted.

That’s why I prefaced comments with “The claim is” and “According to Q”.

Wait until you learn who has been talking to you here.

Tillerson didn’t take the bait – he returned the volley from the DBM (credit David Graham) with aplomb. What they were hoping for was – “No I was completely caught off guard and am thinking of resigning because this president is wildly out of control and chaotic.” They’re so foolishly predictable anymore.

    • Yes GB. To pretty much everyone else, what was important, really really important, was the possibility of dialogue between POTUS and Rocketman and a hope for peaceful advance.
But to the scumbags in the media, a tiny hint (false though it was) that there may be a rift between POTUS and SoS is what’s important.
I swear these scumbags would rather see their country burn down to ashes than to see POTUS be successful for all Americans and allies.
The scumbag MSM are the enemy of the people. They rally are.

It was confusing to press corps when Sanders said that Kim has to show concrete results before talks. She meant negotiations, not talks. But, MSM ran with the usual confusion/chaos in White House meme and Stormy Daniels.

  13. spren says:

It’s been so fun to watch the hysterical reaction of the usual suspects (CNN, MSNBC, et al) in expressing their chagrin that Trump has agreed to talks while all of our former presidents refused to do so out of their concern of granting legitimacy to NK. So, they were all concerned about the “optics” but not enough to do anything to prevent NK from moving forward on its nuclear program.

These exact same frauds would be slamming Trump if he had refused to these talks, and saying that he was pushing us into nuclear war. They’re so predictable, and contemptible, it’s getting very disgusting.

Too bad no one took the initiative and listened to the entire presser, as well as the presser in Kenya.

SOS Tillerson had tried to explain to the African Union guy about the Chinese, the Chinese debt enslavement program. The disrespect shown to SOS Tillerson in these two pressers left one jaw-agape.

The first question, in Kenya iirc, was given to an “American” journalist who spoke with a heavy Chinese accent.
    Why do we even bother?

As for the NoKo remarks, these ppl deliberately lie. There are talks, and there are negotiations and details. SOS Tillerson, former Exxon CEO, knows this well.
These STUPID STUPID ppl simply refuse to understand.

No one can be that dumb. Can they?

If you watched any of the Olympic Games from South Korea, it was clearly evident the Korean peninsula is experiencing a very cold winter. With the Trump sanctions severely cutting imports to North Korea, I suspect keeping the country warm and fed has been difficult. If Kim Jung Un can’t feed his army (e.g., the gut worms of the NK soldier who ran to safety in SK), then the rest of the population is likely suffering from malnutrition too. Sooner or later a population will turn on a tyrant when the people are faced with one of three options: 1) Starvation 2) Firing Squad 3) Revolt. When a population knows the first two options have the same outcome then why not try #3. Kim Jung Un, if he has any intelligence at all and has at some truth about what is going on in his country, likely recognizes he’s on borrowed time. He has one lifeline – reach out to President Trump. Mr. Trump knows this and is willing to talk. I suspect he’ll be quite candid with Kim Jung Un. My guess is the CIA is doing everything it can to determine the starvation rate of North Korea so that Mr. Trump will have that in his hip pocket when it comes time to look Kim Jung Un in the eye and tell him “Time’s up buddy, Time’s up”.
