Keurig Coffee Maker Joins Growing List of Business Idiots on Parade…

Apparently a company that makes fancy coffee urns, Keurig, has made a business decision to enter the corporate graveyard filled with carcasses of the inherently stupid.  Starbucks, Macy’s and the NFL examples not withstanding, you just gotta laugh.

When you focus on the economics of enterprise, and see yet another company choosing to enter the foray of social justice virtue signaling as part of their “brand image”, you have to wonder if business schools are no longer teaching common sense.

I cannot imagine sitting down with a T-Chart, brainstorming promotional ideas, and coming to a decision that isolating a massive part of the electorate from your product is anything but abject stupidity.  Alas:

Dear Keurig Team Members,

You are likely aware that Keurig became the focus of some media attention over the weekend related to a tweet issued from our official Twitter account on Friday. The tweet announced the withdrawal of advertising from “Hannity” in response to comments made on his program last week that were viewed as controversial by many of our consumers. This is to provide you with full transparency on the situation, our lessons learned and our path forward.

Like most consumer-oriented companies, Keurig’s media purchases are driven by delivery of ratings for our target consumer audience. We also have a defined set of programming guidelines to ensure we deliver our advertising in the right programming environment and protect our brand from objectionable content.

The fact is, our consumer demographics match well with live news programming, which is why we advertise on nearly all cable news channels, ranging from MSNBC to Fox to CNN, all of which will continue. However, given the dynamic nature of news, we always need to evaluate that programming environment on a real-time basis.

The catalyst for the current situation was commentary made by Sean Hannity on his TV and radio programs last week, which sparked a significant number of consumer complaints directed to us as advertisers on his TV program. Hannity himself later apologized for his comments in his own tweet: “As I said on TV tonight, I apologize when I misspoke and was not totally clear earlier today.”

In most situations such as this one, we would “pause” our advertising on that particular program and reevaluate our go-forward strategy at a later date. That represents a prudent “business as usual” decision for us, as the protection of our brand is our foremost concern.

However, the decision to publicly communicate our programming decision via our Twitter account was highly unusual. This gave the appearance of “taking sides” in an emotionally charged debate that escalated on Twitter and beyond over the weekend, which was not our intent.

I want you to know the decision to communicate our short-term media actions on Twitter was done outside of company protocols. Clearly, this is an unacceptable situation that requires an overhaul of our issues response and external communications policies and the introduction of safeguards to ensure this never happens again. Our company and brand reputations are too valuable to be put at risk in this manner.

The nature of social media and the internet news environment is that stories like this explode, and generally do not disappear quickly. Given the circumstances, we wanted to reach out and communicate with you directly so you understood our position and the protocols we have in place.

I apologize for any negativity that you have experienced as a result of this situation and assure you that we will learn and improve going forward. As we all know, the external environment is changing rapidly. We need to dial-up our speed and responsiveness to stay ahead of these developments and we will.

Sincerely,
Bob

Now Volvo. That made me very angry as I just purchased a pre-owned Volvo less than two weeks ago. I emailed owner relations with a very angry email. I wish I could do more but it’s not a Keurig I can simply return and get all my money back. Hopefully, other owners will do the same. This all seems to be the work of a Media Matters employee who is tweeting companies nonstop.

Ohhh noooo..! You bought a Volvo? LOL.. Sorry.. Never buy a vehicle built in an overtly socialist country. You fell for the “safety” propaganda didn’t you..

You have to pick very carefully these days if you are looking for a late model vehicle.

For example, the Ford Edge/Lincoln MKX.. nice but beware.. you have to drop the whole engine carriage and front suspension out from underneath.. raise the car body up on a lift and leave the engine and front wheels on the ground – just to change the water pump.. ~$1500 labor, $200 part and $100 in coolant. Just.to.change.the.water.pump.. And to do all of that you had better have a competent mechanic who can put humpty dumpty back together again properly.. every nut and bolt and wire harnesses.. and without breaking a myriad of cheapo plastic things in the process..

How about a Cadillac SRX.. they put the thermostat behind the engine, sandwiched between the engine and the firewall..

The bad list is a mile long.. the short list is very short..

Socialism has infiltrated the American car industry..

Run away from a Subaru or Kia as fast as you can too..

My wife and I have 2 Ford Focus’ … we like them a lot. They are pretty cheap cars, so even if they are not the highest of quality in the world, no big deal, they were pretty cheap. They have worked very well for us so far however. The only issue we have had is with the transmission, but Ford has fixed the problems for us and extended our warranty and additional 4 years. Ford has been extremely good at supporting us.

Hannity calls for Keurig protesters to stand down after company CEO apologizes for pulling ads

Fox News’ Sean Hannity called Monday night for a “cease-fire,” asking fans to quit smashing their Keurig coffeemakers, after critics blasted the company for moving to pull its advertising from his show over his coverage of sexual assault accusations against U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.

“Please stop smashing your Keurig coffee machines,” Hannity said in his monologue Monday night, explaining that the coffee company was “a victim in all of this.”(Snip)

Hannity said the liberal group Media Matters for America was responsible for targeting his advertisers after critics said he seemed to defend Moore, who was accused last week of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in 1979. Hannity said critics took his statements out of context.

Keurig’s CEO, Bob Gamgort, addressed the situation in an email to company employees obtained by The Washington Post, calling the situation “unacceptable” and said the move “was done outside of company protocols.”

As an Australian, your sign directing people to walk to the right going up the stairs is Aussiephobic. 😉

Everyone knows we drive/walk on the left. AND our toilets flush the opposite direction of you beautiful Northern Hemisphere people.

At least the sign got half of it corect: when walking down the stairs, do it on the left. 👍

PS: CEO Bob’s reply was decent, but so long. Surely he could have just said:

“A crazed, President Trump-hating SJW took control of our twitter account. We’re sorry. They’re FIRED! We love Hannity. Please forgive us. Peace out.”.

SIDE TOPIC: Is it okay if I express my fears here please?

Australia’s results of our survey on legalising same sex marriage is delivered in 12 hours (it’s 10.30pm Tuesday here now).

I staunchly support traditional marriage. It’s an 8,000 year Institution, preceding the 3 great Abrahamic religions by thousands of years. So, you don’t have to believe in God, to support the obvious fact that the complementary dual gender structure of the union of 1 man + 1 woman is wholly different from 2 men or 2 women.

And it’s the only union capable of producing a child, ensuring the propagation of human civilisation. That’s marriage. A union of 2 people of the same sex is still lovely, but entirely different, for reproductive/genatalia reasons, so should have a different name, to celebrate those differences.

What are our Western Democracies coming to, when we legislate the absurdly false, scientically + mathematically-denying truth that: XX + XY
    = XX + XX
    = XY + XY?

My apologies, fellow Treepers, for this rant. I fear for our country’s future, after witnessing the disgraceful attacks on traditional marriage supporters in America, following the 5:4 decision in your Supreme Court’s Obergefell v. Hodges decision in 2015.

(PS: I’ve been absent (although lurking daily) in recent months while focussing on removing that PM Turnbull, that traitorous Green Lefty Globalist Manchurian Candidate, who stabbed our sitting PM Tony Abbott 2 years ago to become PM, and has deliberately destroyed our centre-right Conservative Liberal Party ever since, while forcing through same sex marriage.

Hugs of love to you all. I felt safest coming here to express my fears.

After listening to Hannity last night, I became disenchanted with his entire message to save his arse. The real Hannity was on view last night and I wasn’t impressed. Of course, when one’s job is on the line, it’s easy to get them to say Moore is guilty, supported by Judge Jeannine and Geraldo. What could be wroing with that picture?

        Great comment, RG

I was actually most disappointed by Hannity a few days ago though, when he lined up a hatchet job on Roy Moore by commentators I’d always respected until then (following his radio interview with Moore).

The Globalist Establishment are obviously getting VERY nervous!

RG, did you not listen to the comments from Judge Jeannine and others on the panel, about the damning yearbook evidence against Moore? Hannity wasn’t trying to save his arse. He’s lost a sponsors before. In regards to Keurig, the comments by the company’s CEO was in regards to the company representative who violated company protocol, and posted the comment on Twitter about pulling their ads from Hannity’s show, without first running it by upper management for approval. It was a kneejerk reaction in response to comments made on Twitter against the company, without first verifying if anything being said by tweeters was based on fact(it wasn’t), which is exactly what Media Matters wanted.

RG, if you watched Hannity’s show last week, he asked the hard questions of Moore, something no other journalist has done. Moore does have rights, including innocent until proven guilty. However, at this point, whether he is guilty or innocent, the damage to his campaign has been done. This has turned into a real nightmare for the Republican Party.

          Hi Mr T

So, innocent until proven guilty is a nuisance irrelevant consideration when a pro-President Trump candidate is running as a Senator for the GOP then? (The only damage is that inflicted by anti-Trump (ie anti-Moore) forces).

I guess that’s fatal to his campaign then?

Just like Billy Bush’s fake PussyGate scandal with Candidate Donald Trump was fatal to Mr Trump’s campaign for President, yes?

And it worked out great for Billy Bush too (spoiler alert: Billy Bush was fired days after he released the tape, as Jeb! + the Bush Dynasty tried destroying Trump).

Gosh, wouldn’t it be nice if Establishment Republicans demonstrated this same level of commitment to compliance with the law when it comes to Democrat Senator Menendez’s corruption trial? Or Hillary Clinton’s sprawling global corruption? Or, or, or…. (insert blanks of the RINO’s disgraceful failings for the last 20 years).

Christine, what worries me the most, is the time between now and next November’s election day, as primaries and general elections approach for all of the House members and some of the Senate. What’s happening to Moore is just the start of more bad things to come our way. Funny how the democrats label the republicans as being fascists, yet the behavior of the democrats is every bit representative of how fascists behave.

I haven’t followed the most recent polls for Moore, but it what you say is true, and he’s leading by that big of a margin, then I hope the numbers hold and the republican voters show up in large numbers to defeat the democrat candidate. What worries me though, is what McConnell and his band of RINOS are threatening to do to Moore if he’s elected. If the elitists on both sides of the isle continue to push against President Trump and We, The People who elected him, one has to wonder if it’s their desire to start a civil war. Nobody who truly cares about the republic wants that, but those in D.C. can only push the people so far before they begin to push back and push back they will.

Oh, it’s absolutely the intention of the RINO + DNC Establishment to start a civil war! Anything to destabilise President Trump, then remove him.

Hopefully though, Special Prosecutor Mueller will shortly be serving the hundreds of sealed indictments filed since 30 Oct (an unpredented number) on the sprawling expanse of corrupt Government players, including the Clintons, Obama, McCain, RINOs + DNC.

Remember, Mueller is our guy, appointed by President Trump specifically to do this. Trump’s disappointment with AG Sessions is pure Kabuki Theatre.

Now that Saudi Crown Prince MbS has arrested hundreds of corrupt Saudi Princes + Ministers etc (including Prince bin Talal – world’s 10th wealthiest person), he’s cut off the head of the snake of the largest source of funding of corrupt US Politicians.

Coupled with the Imran Awan scandal (where dozens of DNC’ers fed highly classified SAP info to the Muslim Brotherhood), once the takedown occurs, there will only be a quivering rump of DNC + RINO’s left to cause trouble for Judge Moore. Fingers crossed Mueller moves before the election!

It seem that people from all over the planet are getting a more clear picture of government, corruption and a human beings rights. I am hoping that people like us talking to each other will be the beginning of a new world order where the people assume the responsibility of controlling and limiting their government. And that we help each other do that.

Please send him here, after he’s finished his 8 year stint fixing America.

Our beautiful country only has 24.5 million people, over a landmass the same size as America. BUT, please know, literally millions of us love + support America and President Trump.

We’re fighting down in the trenches with you (in fact, my best friend, a Lieutenant Colonel, just deployed to an American base in Baghdad – you US lads better look after her!), embracing and supporting you every step in the way.

We’re enduring a horrendous period of disastrous leadership by a traitor. We’re just putting our heads down to survive right now, while turning to President Trump for leadership, since Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has zero understanding of what that is. He’s Australia’s ex-Goldman Sachs Chairman + CEO. All he cares about is committing us to the fraudulent Paris Climate Agreement to ensure he, his buddies and family get returns on the Government-subsidised renewable energy rubbish theý’ve put $$$ into. Thank you uvaldgirl.

Well, same sex marriage got up 60% to 40%, with 80% turnout. So, that’s it. We’re doomed.

Our Government under traitorous PM Turnbull will now push through legislation with zero protections for religious freedoms or freedom of conscience.

So, the 40% of Australians who believe marriage is between a man + a woman, is now having a definition imposed on them by Government saying gender is now irrelevant to that Institution, and we’ll be hauled before the Human Rights Commission and fined if we refuse to accept that. Welcome to Stalinism in Australia in 2017.

The absurd thing is, unlike America before Obergefell v. Hodges, we’ve always had civil unions available to recognise same sex couples, which has given them all the rights of married couples.

This was purely about destroying an 8,000 year Institution, tearing apart the very foundation of Western Democracy founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Globalists will be delighted.

  6. It is my most humble opinion that CEO’s or Boards that decide to become politicians would be a threat to the future of a company. As these kinds of actions become common among corporate officers I would want assurances of their mental stability before hiring someone to lead the team. It is obvious that they think someone cares about theirs views thus they are slooow learners. Maybe their graduates of the ‘COMMON CORE’ curriculum or maybe like Senator Joe Manchins daughter they were ‘given’ their business degree.

Corporations would do well to remain Apolitical and stay out of politics. One only had to look at Roger Goodell, who, rather than enforce an existing rule about all players standing during the playing of our National Anthem, instead choose to go down the PC road, which happened to be the wrong one, and as a result, he failed to protect the brand, that being the NFL. The NFL has and will continue to lose millions of dollars as a result of Goodell’s improper oversight of the NFL. Jerry Jones gets it, and so do some of the other owners. It’s only a matter of time before Goodell is escorted out of the NFL headquarters by security. It will take years to undo the damage done to the NFL brand by Goodell’s poor management, if it can ever be undone. Big lesson to be learned here. Something that corporations around the country need to pay attention to and avoid making the same mistakes.
