Super Bowl 2017 – Open Discussion Thread

Unfortunately the NFL has allowed the politicization of a great American sporting past-time.Β  As a direct consequence many have boycotted the games throughout the year and the NFL has struggled with the worst TV ratings in their history.

super-bowl-2017-1

However, all of that said, if you’re watching the game – here’s an open discussion thread for all of the various tentacles that annoyingly now cover much more than just a sporting event.

There is a site I won’t name that was mocking Trump when the Pats were down by 25. Awful quiet now…I guess they’ll be rioting in the streets tomorrow

There is nothing better in life than winning. That’s why progressive liberals wake up everyday mad at the world. They have SOFT hearts and see those who don’t win and then they feel guilty even when it isn’t their fault. Winners and losers make for a better world if the loser keeps working toward the goal of winning. When they start burning down the communities and world that supports them, they look like fools.

I was impressed by the genuine display of humility displayed by both teams during and after the game. They helped each other up after brutal plays, they congratulated each other and the Falcon coach did an impressive interview after the game. That is how life is/should be.

Remember: There is no such thing as luck but if you are prepared, and when an opportunity arrives, you will most likely not be disappointed with your performance. When that coin went heads for the overtime, the Patriots were prepared. If not, they would have botched the opportunity and the Falcons would have won the game. Humans made up the overtime rules and the players know the rules. Everyone plays under the rules. I guess the Progs will be lobbying for a change when the sun comes up this morning.

Just an aside. Hundreds of thousands of people were praying at halftime for our President. I imagine God doesn’t care much about football but, at halftime the Pats were down 28-3. If they would have lost what would have happened. Possibly half of a team boycotting the White house, people saying our President was an idiot for picking the Patriots etc. Not saying the two things are related but……………

Two years ago, the Country seemed completely lost as we contemplated Hillary or Jeb. God turned it around and gave us Candidate Trump.

November, the election was supposedly totally lost… and God turned it around that night right in front of our eyes and delivered Trump.

Tonight, The Patriots seemed totally lost… but yet somehow turned it around and won the game, biggest comeback victory of all time; on par with Trump’s victory, and on par with the country’s about face in the last couple years.

Question is, was it Brady’s arm, or Amazing Grace?

Gotta admit I was praying out loud for my Patriot boys and begged for God’s help. I prayed for Him to help Donald Trump win the election as well! No question in my mind — all the credit goes to the Big Guy upstairs for these victories. And you watch, He’s going to help the Trumpster get this country back on the right track, too!

Roger Goodell getting booed – why do you think Lady Gaga did not go political? I had a hunch she would not because she didn’t want to risk getting booed. She knew her audience and it wasn’t totally liberal that would have like what she did. She didn’t want that being shown on national T.V. and in re-plays over and over again. I think it was pre-game hype to get people to watch it.

WeThe I am not an outwardly religious person but, I do believe the multitudes of people that prayed for the President had some type of effect. Was it on Gaga? Was it on the game? No idea, but the focus was to protect our President. Did it work? I’d say at this point yes,

I think Lady GaGa didn’t go political because she knew the audience was huge and she’s smart enough to not want to turn off half the people watching who might decide to buy some of her music.

    Impressive stats:

Tom Brady completed 43 of 62 passes for 466 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and he was 12 of 16 for 150 yards on the tying and winning drives in the fourth quarter and overtime. The five-time champion led his 51st game-winning drive in the 51st Super Bowl.

    That’s pretty phenomenal.

Now we get to see how Fox has butchered 24 once again. Kiefer too busy with the other show. Tony may or may not be involved. Chloe definitely missing. They killed off all the other good characters. And no Cassar? Yeah, that’ll work. NOT.

Speaking of 24. We really are seeing life imitates art during the past year and probably going forward. If you have the DVD box sets ( its the only way to watch these things ), it is worth dusting off Season 2 ( Islamists, Nuke, 25th Amendment cabinet overthrow ) and Season 4 ( Congress questioning Palmer as shadow Prez to Logan ), and Season 6 ( Nuked Valencia, government corruption, Prez takedown ), and of course the NWO thread that spins through all of the first 6 seasons.

I remember watching the first two seasons the year after 9/11 and thinking just how insane the writers must be. Well they were insane with respect to the character destruction, but thanks to Trump exposing everybody we now know they were understating the corrupted and Machiavellian nature of our real life government. Personally I think Season 2, at least the first half, was the best overall with realistic CTU Jack and Tony pursuing the Muslim terrorists and the American traitor. Best part was the Syed Ali questioning with the staged events back at his home. When Trump said we won’t rule out torture, and keep them guessing as to exactly what we will do, this is what he was talking about. It was multitasking 3D chess, not single-tasking broadcasting of all your moves and self-imposed limitations.

As I type this we already can see the politically correct Fantasic Four remake mistake with casting the black dude to replace the Human Torch, I mean Jack, well, just because. Now some affirmative action women CTU director again. And now that lefty Jimmy Smits. ~sigh~. How many episodes before they get to a Trump parody or TEA party like domestic terror group thwarted by peaceful Muslims? Whoops, here we go. The CTU directorette said something about “extremist social media”. Oh boy. Fox still sucks as bad as ever.

RE: 24 again … Forgot to mention … They are using a drunken shakey cam on lots of scenes. Like an MTV music video. In the 1980’s. Hey, good thinking Fox!

Cassar as director rarely ever did that because it messes up editing continuity, and likely makes people vomit ( its Super Bowl night y’all, they will be vomiting ). Besides that, the episode thus far is a snoozefest. Football fans hanging around are either vomiting or sleeping ( hopefully not both at the same time ).

I just realized they are only running one episode ( one “hour” ) tonight while in the past it was always two for the season opener. And it is another 12-hour season rather than 24. Hey Fox, this is not 24 any longer!

With a lead-in like the Super Bowl, you gotta really screw up to fail with your former signature network show. I believe they have already lost it.

  30. In a way it’s the flipside of the Pats being upset in 2008 by the Giants after their undefeated 2007 season, right before Obummer won, and then again in the 2012 game before his reelection. Vindication.

That’s interesting. I’m a Giants fan but it’s interesting that the Patriots loss each time Obama won. Yet, they pull off an absolute stunner in the aftermath of the most amazing election victory perhaps in US history with Trump. God may yet have some greater things in store for us this year (Le Pen?) indeed.

Fox News Sunday had a great interview with Robert Kraft. He is a fine man with a great philosophy about building a winning team and about life. He talked about what a good friend Trump was to him when his wife passed away.

Verifies that Trump knows how to pick excellent people to work with and as friends.

We didn’t watch the game. And, honestly, I didn’t even know what two teams were in the Stupor Bowl until just after 11PM last night when I saw the article on Drudge that the Patriots won. I won’t give my money and, more importantly, my time to watch a bunch of millionaires running around with a ball and then get bombarded by left wing, anti-American “entertainment” and commercials. No, my family and I watched two 1950’s horror movie DVD’s last night and we had a great time.
