Tuesday Open Thread – March 1st

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

This is a response to cantgetno’s Death Valley’s wildflower video on 2/29/16 at 9:54 am for those who missed it. The lovely journey one takes with the Treepers goes far beyond the typical blog. On a few trips to southern California we’ve had the remarkable experience of this bloom — ice plants around the Wild Animal Farm and the avocado orchards were not on the travel plan. Residents said they had never encountered such glow. What a wonderful reminder of nature’s gifts.

Thank, cantgetno, for that slight kick-in-the-head when I needed it.

You are more than welcome. I used to hang out in the desert between Victorville and Palmdale – Joshua Tree National Park. El Mirage dry lake is there and the beauty and solitude I used to experience there is something I will never forget. The quietness of the desert will cleanse a troubled soul like nothing else on earth.

Lived in Bishop for around 15 years in the 70s and 80s. Traveled that route many a time. Was even in search and rescue where we got to see a lot of the outdoors and wonders that the good Lord had laid out in the high desert and high sierras.
Thank you for the reminders of those memories {{{{{Rash}}}}.

Richly romantic tango-nuevo. Hated by many traditionalists, Piazzolla is famous for composing in a distinctive, very avant-garde, Argentine tango idiom. He’s definitely an acquired taste, but everything he wrote is deeply emotional music.

I do believe that it is cases like this, along with Brown, Trayvon and others that are being used by the Obama administration to tie the hands of our country’s LEOs.
I just read about a new protest where an officer shot a refugee who would not put down the stick he was threatening someone with. I guess for some reason the officers were supposed to let the refugee beat one or ?? them with the stick while trying to tackle him. Why the H3LL are our LEOs supposed to be injured by criminals in order to protect us.
The stick was not a gun, but it was a weapon. Come on guys, one does not need to use a gun to kill, and/or seriously hurt someone. H3LL there are so many many things that are and have been used by people/criminals to injure and/or kill someone.
I am getting so very tired of the obvious discrimination that is going on in this country if you are of particular ethnicities you are given permission to be disrespectful of people and our country’s LEOs. (yes there are bad LEOs, but the majority are out to protect the public from harm)(Just my two cents)

As should have been expected, the thorough derailing of the coronation train for the republican heir apparent made the professional political establishment very unhappy, and, of course, they’re hell-bent on doing something about that. But they really don’t understand the degree to which the typical voter is disgusted with the political status quo in America, or why, and so don’t really understand the causa provocare of the outsider’s challenge. Thus, their flailing increasingly exposes them for who they are. Read more, and join the online discussion, at: http://rightmi.com/ross_revenge/

It doesn’t sound like you need to do this. If you are getting some emails then it is evidently working.

Did anyone watch Comey and others testify before Congress today? I watched the first part of it. What’s going on with John Conyers? Is he even functioning mentally any more? I was shocked. He read several prepared questions from a piece of paper, never once looking up, and even received assistance at one point. Because he was reading the questions, and apparently not thinking at the same time, he was unable to make normal adjustments, like when Comey made some statements which already addressed parts of Conyers’ later questions. Conyers couldn’t even say “Thank you” extemporaneously at the end of his time, he had to read it from the paper! Shocking. Why do people keep voting this guy into office? Surely there are better people in Michigan..

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your love and salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil. Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump as he seeks to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
