I am hoping Trump jails the Clinton’s for selling uranium to the Russians through her theft of private land in the west. Another woman politician tried that 50 years ago and was put to death. @Guy Stumpman – good read, but I disagree with “…Tavis Smiley is the start with Allan Keyes and Larry Elder.” I think Tavis Smiley is an excellent media “pundit” on quite a range of topics concerning “blacks” in America, regardless of his liberal ideologies. Yet this week he described Donald Trump as an “unrepentant, irascible religious and racial arsonist”… – religious and racial “arsonist”.

I myself have always been weary of “whomever” the media, or a pundit or intellectuals designate as a “black leader” or “representative” of a true black, or acceptable “speaker” of blacks, etc…

Malcolm X has been the #1 hero of mine since Sister Paulette in Junior High gave me a copy of his autobiography (the Spike Lee movie is lame) – He spoke just as Donald Trump does today. When he spoke Malcolm X was unrepentant, irascible, a religious and racial arsonist most definitely, and scared white folks with a lot of what he had to say (he did evolve past his nation of islam/muslim faith before he was assassinated).

Donald Trump is in a similar position, he scares a lot of liberals (both black and white, Smiley for sure), but his position on every issue that will effect my life here in this great country is acceptable to me personally, and I dont feel I need to explain or justify his positions to anyone that has any common sense – including Tavis Smiley.

Keyes and Elder make more sense lol

I loved the Autobiography of Malcolm X as well. The first half of the Lee movie was very good and then it just became really bad. But Malcolm was a fascinating man and if he had lived I believe he might have wound up sharing the perspective of Eldridge Cleaver.

Maybe you didn’t love the actual movie, but didn’t Denzel transform himself right into Malcolm exactly? His performance made the movie very much worth the time to watch it

        • bleep21k says:

@margo – Yes Denzel Washington was great, the lame critique involves the Spike Lee role/cameo, and the dance scene which was almost a parody to me, and the need to expand the movie script/scenes to more adequately show Malcolms “transformation” after his Mecca journey. His reason for excluding whites from his last organization was simply to force “blacks” to better “blacks” – the burden of our communities success or failure squarely on our own shoulders; responsibility instead of welfare from the white man. Not black racism, just a novel idea at the time lol (pertinent today actually).

Praising Tavis Smiley? Just NO. While I don’t doubt the guy has done some good (esp. in condemning Obama), he also recently called Trump a racist. And here’s one example of where his head was at a couple years ago:

“Tavis Smiley expressed his outrage at the George Zimmerman verdict on Sunday’s ‘This Week,’ calling it evidence of society’s “contempt” for black men.

Zimmerman was found not guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin on Saturday. The news dominated the Sunday morning talk shows and prompted outrage from numerous media personalities, including Smiley, Al Sharpton and Chris Hayes.

‘I think this is for many Americans, George, just another piece of evidence of the incontrovertible contempt that this nation often shows and displays for black men, Smiley said on ABC News’ ‘This Week.’

‘Something is wrong in this nation, 50 years after the March on Washington… when adults can racially profile children,’ he continued. ‘Trayvon Martin was a child racially profiled and gunned down.’ “

way tougher than this campaign thing. I think the veteran politico’s just like to make it look hard, to discourage competition and to make us think they’re actually working to earn their keep.

And to think Jeb had the audacity to think it was his turn to invest – especially after he destroyed the lives of police and firemen in Frorida by investing their pensions inn an insurance company that his best friend owned and who “lost” their money. 18. WoW! The Cruzianity church members are crawling all over Breitbart today. They’re up in arms about their pastor Ted getting called out on a recent statement. They’re blaming the elite leftists, but I’m a born again Christian and I myself found what he said APPALLING & SHOCKING!

Televangelist Ted said: “It’s time for the body of Christ to rise up and support me.” This was quoted in the Breitbart article and the Cruzbots in denial are saying Cruz never said it. But the truth is that he did. It was on a twitter I got 2 days ago, it was a graphic with a picture of a church and pic of Ted Cruz’ speaking and said “It’s time for the body of Christ to rise up and support me,” and it was signed by Ted Cruz and was from his team.

I was so appalled I replied back to it quoting “Thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain.”

Trust me, Cruz DID say it. I saw it.

Most of the commenters were Cruzianity cult members, no love in them, lots of cursing and name calling and lots and lots and LOTS of frustrated hate. Really it breaks my heart to see such blindness. I will pray for them.

Scott Adams (Dilbert) comment on chiding Iowa, its funny because its true

I can’t stop laughing about Trump’s Iowa reframing. You probably heard about it. The setup goes like this:

Trump was trailing Cruz in Iowa polls.
Trump taunted an Iowa audience with “You have not picked a lot of winners.”
      The media reported Trump’s taunts.

And the very next poll showed Trump slightly atop Cruz once you factor in the less-likely-to-vote people who will definitely vote this time.

The trap that Trump set for Iowa is that they can either vote for him – in which case he wins – or they can vote for Cruz and prove he was right about Iowa having a bad track record. Then, say the polls, he will go on to win New Hampshire.

Trump already explicitly said he would mock Iowa like crazy if they get this vote “wrong.” Remember I taught you that Trump always creates a big gap between what happens to you when you please him and what happens if you don’t. Iowa has been warned 🙂

Let me put this in more humorous words because it deserves it.

What you think you see is Trump telling people they should vote for him. In the 2D world, he is simply using different language to say what all politicians say. But in the 3D world of persuasion Trump just created a situation in which…

      wait for it…

Iowans are voting on their own intelligence.

That’s an identity play. You should recognize it by now as the strongest form of persuasion.

Here’s what does NOT work: “Look at my awesome policies.”

Here’s what DOES work: “Smart people vote this way.”

As always, Trump goes for identity over reason. And once again it gets him exactly the reaction he wanted. I could literally feel the persuasion and it has been making me laugh for two days. (Laughing can be a tell for persuasion.)

If Trump wins Iowa and New Hampshire, which seems likely at this point, he will turn on the afterburners, and the words you are likely to hear from pundits in the next two months are “natural front-runner.”

When you hear mentions of Trump as a good front-runner it means – to borrow a phrase from the world of investing – we are on the brink of “capitulation.” That’s the point where everyone just stops resisting the idea of a President Trump and starts adjusting to the reality of it.

People have been surprised that Trump could elbow his way to the front of the pack and stay there so long. But at this point, a lot of folks still think something will happen to bump Trump out of the lead. They will capitulate on that belief when they realize Trump might be the best front-runner civilization has ever created.

I’m saying Trump’s personality assures he’ll be comfortable not sharing the top spot, and it will show. His fighter instinct will evolve into a calm confidence, and the public will respond to it.

She coughed several times while we were chatting, and I asked her if she had a cold. She explained that yes, the cough and sore throat had been lingering and this was the beginning of the fourth week. I suggested that perhaps she see a doctor and she said “oh, I think I’ll give it another week”. I looked at her and I said, “Ma’am, no disrespect, but you are a Norwegian” and she looked at me and very proudly said, “why, yes, yes I am, how did you know?”

I was referring to the crowd. But yes, Trump did his best salesman job of “mirroring” the energy.

          • It’s also a speaker or even an entertainer’s job to mirror the energy. Trump was great, he was able to show his quieter more serious side. I think it will only work FOR him and it made him look more presidential.

Lots of folks in the media are confusing speeches with “rallies.” I’ve read them comparing Trump’s high energy rallies with Obama’s speeches. Can’t compare. Is apples and oranges. A rally is not a speech, it’s to rally up spirit.

Tonight was more of a speech than a rally. And he was able to get the message out about Cruz in a very matter-of-fact way conversational which has more power and credibility than having to yell it.

He should have stopped mid-rally and had the PA guys blast Twisted Sister… and encouraged everyone to start a mosh pit. Would have worked for sure!!

            No?…

Trump was at his best tonight. One of his best speeches ever.
Iowans are still the silent majority though. Sheesh.

well, that was a fine speech…loved THE SNAKE….ahem, was there an audience? I didn’t hear a thing. I noticed this was a rather short speech compared to all the others. What’s up with the iowa folks?

I think they are very jaded with way too many robocalls, candidates, commercials, etc.

Trump may need to nip this in the bud with his commercials.

I disagree….I think SD is on to something about the rally. I have watched EVERY trump rally since the beginning and something is hinky here….he has NEVER pulled the plug after only 40 minutes. I will wait for SD’s analysis. P.S. I don’t read the NYDN…I would offend my birds if I lined their birdcage with that garbage…lol.

I agree with you. However, if you listen to the Robo call it is not a reflection of Trump.

He just has to say… no one speaks for me, no pacs, nobody.

I can just hear Cruz’s instructions to his disciples. Go, attend Trump’s rally, but sit in absolute silence. Do not be disrespectful, but do not laugh at his jokes or applaud what he says. Speaking of snakes, this would be Cruz all the way. We read in that dcwhispers article that the media was filled in on the strategy so they would be prepared. I expect to see a ton of pictures showing up in the MSM showing empty seats and a subdued crowd. All this sounds horrifying to us, but in reality it is not that big of a deal. It won’t sway Trump supporters away. We’ve got to remember this is war, and this is a pretty weak stunt. Like others have said, can’t wait to read Sundance’s next post.

TY for your comment, now I have a better idea of what SD was suggesting. If true, it sounds like a cheap trick. Trump did wonderful anyway. He will handle this fine, even in the face of a manufactured “Trump collapsing” baloney show.

I thought that the crowd noise was “filtered” as SD suggested, but I went back and looked at all 3 links and they were the same at various stages of the rally. What, as Trump would say, the hell happened? He knew he was going nowhere with this crowd. Something was wrong. Period.

Maybe Iowa voters only relate to candidates in small diners, little town halls, grange halls, feed stores, etc. Especially out of the biggest cities.

Lots of negative advertising in Iowa… I know I would be sick of it.

    • What??? The crowd liked him fine. They were probably older and more mellow and it was a smaller venue. People wouldn’t be there in this weather on a workday if they didn’t want to be there. This was one of Trump’s quieter speeches but was very good and well received.

Regardless the reasons, Trump should still make a nice, simple little comment about it. Like, “I want to thank the people who braved the cold and wind to come out to our rally tonight. I really appreciate you guys!”

  40. Trump was so presidential in this rally. I love when he speaks before the smaller groups and he doesn’t have to yell and gets to speak in conversational voice. His dark suit and the flags in the background really added to him looking so professional.

The poem about the snake CHILLING! He was speaking in parables there, aka speaking in the Spirit whether he knew it or not. Those with ears to hear knew what he was saying, those that don’t have ears to hear will miss it.

Too funny, now the media will try to guess and write up stories about what he meant but won’t be able to cuz he didn’t explain the meaning. Only the folks with ears to hear know what he meant.

It was a fixed group. Probably Cruz people loaded up. They were from outer space, not reacting at all to the key Trump issues.

It will get buried with POTUS crap and Haley’s gig tomorrow.

Lesson: assume bad things will happen. Be alert.

Clearly he sensed it from the start. He went very formal which fits in with State of the Union night.

Should make the organization work harder.

Donald Trump has enough moxie to not only beat his establishment opponents, but to KO Hillary through his counter punches during the primaries. Bernie’s numbers have been soaring as Mr. Trump keeps counter punching Hillary. When was the last time you saw someone able to take down their opponents during their battle for their party nomination?
