CNN Lied – The Actual 2015 DHS Report On Sovereign Citizens Does Not Contain The Claims Made by CNN…

Five days ago CNN’s Evan Perez wrote an exclusive story on CNN highlighting a 2015 DHS Sovereign Citizen report. Part of the CNN storyline stated the DHS report was alarmingly concerned with “right-wing” extremist groups.

You can see how the CNN analysis was framed by looking at this screenshot:

CNN propaganda right-wing

Within the CNN analysis they claim serious threats:

[…] ”from sovereign citizen groups as equal to — and in some cases greater than — the threat from foreign Islamic terror groups, such as ISIS”.

Except, there’s something very divergent – The actual report does not claim that the threat to police is growing, it does not conflate sovereigns with other anti-government groups, it makes no broad claims about terror on the right,  and it does not compare the sovereigns to ISIS or to any other foreign terrorists.

There is absolutely nothing in the report to suggest such an interpretation.  Heck, the words “right-wing” do not even show up in the report anywhere.

As Reason.Com outlines:

[…]  The document declares on its first page that most sovereign citizens are nonviolent, and that it will focus only on the violent fringe within a fringe—the people it calls “sovereign citizen extremists,” or SCEs. It describes their violence as “sporadic,” and it does not expect its rate to rise, predicting instead that the violence will stay “at the same sporadic level” in 2015. The author or authors add that most of the violence consists of “unplanned, reactive” clashes with police officers, not preplanned attacks. (more)

Here is the actual report. You can compare it to the CNN interpretation and decide for yourself.

I remember that SD questioned the interpretation of a report that only CNN had seen. He asked if there was a link to the report or were we suppose to take CNN’s word for it. So now we know. Thank you SD for questioning the interpretation that was CNN’s.

You watch, there will be no retraction, no apology and no dismissal or resignation of a blatantly false story.

Now….now. We need to stick to the story, which is not the same as the truth. Move along… move along.

    Liberals lie.
    ALL the time.
    About everything.

If they didn’t lie, no-one would pay attention to them.

CNN’s goal is to get to the low informed segment of the population. CNN understands that these are the people who believe it, do not do any research and refute any contrary reporting because it is not what they want to hear.

I thought something was up when you asked them for the actual report and they hemmed and hawed.

There are actually a lot of the SCE people. They are not dangerous but they drive the courts crazy. I am aware of judges who call them a “pet peeve.”

Read up. There are volumes about this guy and what he did. Although I will have to give him props for putting bacon AND eggs together. 🙄

Explain to me exactly what ideology of right-wing conservatism indicates acts of terrorism. And why right-wingers are the only focus of the DHS. Does the omission of liberal groups from this report imply that left-wing terror does not exist? (hint: it does. i strongly suggest avoiding your local malls and movie theaters in places like Orlando, Memphis, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis). Does the DHS not realize that John Holdren, Obama’s science czar, advocates forced abortions, confiscation of children from single moms, and mass sterilization? Maybe I’m living under a rock, but I can’t seem to find the stories in the news about the militant christian groups running around beheading folks and blowing up buildings while screaming “Jesus Christ is Lord.”

Not everything DHS does is bad or ideologically motivated. This report – a threat assessment – merely looks at one type of potential threat, and assesses it. Presumably, a similar threat assessment exists for various other types of threats. They just aren’t fodder for sensationalized reporting by CNN.

Ho hum …… the same old liberal mainstream media propaganda dribble that’s been going on for years. These commentary programs masquerading as “news” channels have been discredited time and time again for outright lying. They live by the rule that “dishonesty” is the best policy. Is anybody really paying attention anymore?

  14. czarowniczy says:

They gotta have some sobriquet for conservatives, I’m betting the Administration’s laying of their old blanket characterization of white extremists as ‘Christian Identity’ so they don’t get called on their refusing to call Islamic Extremists ‘Islamic Extremists’. Bet the Fed vole who thought to rebrand the Sovereign Citizen’ movement into a white, Christian, right wing, conservative label got a step increase in his pay. The media’s going to eat and regurgitate whatever the Feds feed ’em.
As for CNN – they stopped telling the truth decades ago so this is a surprise how?

Has DHS issued an Intelligence Assesment of ‘NON-Sovereign Citizen Extremist Ideology’? If so, I don’t think the President got a copy because somewhere in that one the analysts had to have mentioned ISLAM.

  16. angie says:

CNN reporter lied? Evan Perez is a Brian Williams wannabe. It’s scary that people watch CNN thinking they are getting truth.

  17. GA48 says:

I read the report. It looks like DHS is equating a rancher who doesn’t want bureaucrats on his ranch, or a guy being evicted for not paying his rent, or two crooks getting violent when stopped by police, to folks who plan and carry out the mass murder of innocent civilians. In the former case you have citizens reacting badly and illegally to the police, in the other, you have proaction (not sure if this is a real word) that is, people who plan, assemble weapons, ambush police, kill innocent citizens , such as the Boston bombers or the recent FTP killings.

It seems to me that the comparisons in this report are worse than apples and oranges, it’s more like apples and wheat combine machines.
