“Disruptions” Have Consequences – Saint Louis Police Ask For State Help As Post-Ferguson Crime Wave Continues To Escalate…

Oddly, Mayor Francis “lettemRiot” Slay unavailable for immediate comment:

Saint Louis – Recent high-profile attacks downtown have prompted Police Chief Sam Dotson to ask the Missouri Highway Patrol to assign troopers to work beside city officers there.

Sam Dotson Jon Belmar

Sam Dotson (city police), Jon Belmar (county police), Ron Johnson (highway patrol)

Dotson said he contacted the patrol last week in response to a surge in violent crime downtown over the final five months of last year.

“As chief, that rise (in crime) was worrisome,” Dotson said on Wednesday.

Dotson said he foresaw a six-month pilot program in which about a dozen troopers would join forces with city police officers.

“We think that if we can work with the highway patrol to bring a little more police visibility and added presence downtown, it will have an impact on crime,” he said. “And if downtown thrives, the region thrives.”

Saint Louis Mayor Slay

Dotson said the plan should not be construed as a panicked response to crime.

“I don’t want to give people the idea that we’re shooting off flares because the city is sinking,” Dotson said. “That’s not the case. We’re just thinking outside the box so that, at the end of the day, our community is safer.”[…]

Police pledged added vigilance downtown after Bobby Christman, 19, a college student from south St. Louis County, was fatally shot Jan. 11 during a robbery attempt in the Washington Avenue entertainment district.

Christman’s killing was the latest case of violence in the area in recent months. In October, a lawyer walking on a well-trafficked stretch of downtown near a police substation was severely beaten by a group of teenagers during rush hour.

On Oct. 6, two men were killed in their car in a daylight shooting downtown near the Old Courthouse. Four days later, a man was killed and another critically wounded in a car near the federal courthouse. Police said the victims in those cases appeared to have been targeted.

According to figures from the police department, violent crimes in the downtown area were up 17 percent in 2014 over the year before.

In December, the city announced a proposal to allocate $8 million to add 160 police officers to the force over the next two years.

However, a proposed $200 million bond issue for infrastructure upgrades in the city, which officials had said would free up funds to hire more officers, died Monday on the floor of the Board of Aldermen.  (read more)

Why waste the money for new officers when they will not arrest or prosecute the youth or teens? Code word for black males.

My questions is: why do these police officers bother to continue to do a job in a community where they are not only, not appreciated, but reviled? Why not move to some sleepy little competently-run Republican suburb, (in a better climate) where their families aren’t threatened, where they most likely will come home at the end of the day, and where their biggest problems are teen partying and drunk driving? I don’t get it.

I don’t know either. I wish I could afford to move to one of those towns too.

        ZEPHYR –

I agree. I’m amazed any police officer would want to work within a 100 miles of St. Louis or Ferguson (code word for cesspool), especially white cops.

We love our cops & crime in our area is minimal. Of course in this sleepy Southern area we don’t take kindly to criminals or drugs. We find out you’re selling drugs or committing crimes & we call 911. We do the RIGHT thing. We don’t harbor criminals of any kind. You can run but you can’t hide.

Did anyone wonder why, after the looting in Ferguson, the thieves’ Mamas didn’t call the police and say, “My son came home with a 60″ flat screen TV last night?” I tend to think the criminals’ parents & their attitudes about crime have a lot to do with it.

Here’s the media again portraying all blacks as murdering savages. Oh, wait, there are black victims, too? You mean a story can portray savages and victims from the same community? Like American Sniper portrays Iraqi victims and Iraqi savages? Who knew?

“Issac M. “Malik” Carter, 17, Ce-Antonyo D. Kennedy, 17, and Dominic “Nick” McDaniel, 18, have all been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal”

“They’re accused of brutally beating and then taking turns shooting Alexis Kane, an eighth-grader at Smith-Hale Middle School in the Hickman Mills School District.”

“portraying all blacks as murdering savages”

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic about that, but it does give me an opportunity to point out that it’s a red herring, a strawman argument that’s often thrown around by leftist apologists for the lawless.

No, not all blacks are “murdering savages”, nor are all Muslims. Hardly anyone ever claims that, that’s why it’s a strawman.

However, each of those 2 demographics has a substantial proportion – typically young males – that are pathologically toxic to society, law and order, and your own personal safety.

So, statistically, it’s a very reasonable and justifiable decision to attempt to minimize the presence of “all” in your environs so as not to be subjected to the pathologically violent “few”.

So let any denouncements that you’re “raaayyycisss” roll off your back and gently explain statistics to the uninformed.

Mass exodus of 200 police officers from Memphis.

Multiple Memphis police officers are handing in letters of resignation, citing recent decisions by city council to alter benefit and pension plans.

According to Memphis Police Association President Michael Williams, close to 200 officers have resigned from the Memphis Police Department in the past year.

“People are leaving because they are tired of going through this maze with this city,” said Williams.

The city council recently voted in favor of a Hybrid Pension Plan that among other things, “grandfathers in” employees with 7.5 years of service or more. The plan will reportedly save the city more than $6 million a year. More…

So he believes that obtaining normal law and order constitutes thinking outside the box. Another bit of documentation regarding the strides being made by lawlessness.

“ …if downtown thrives, the region thrives.” The downtown is dead so …

“Dotson said the plan should not be construed as a panicked response to crime.” No … of course not!

“I don’t want to give people the idea that we’re shooting off flares because the city is sinking,” Dotson said. This comment really says it all, doesn’t it?

“We’re just thinking outside the box …” Well if you had thought INSIDE the box you wouldn’t find yourself in this pickle!

“In December, the city announced a proposal to allocate $8 million to add 160 police officers to the force over the next two years.” But if you tie the hands of the additional officers as well …

For some reason I couldn’t link to the article or else I’d have more rants!

And Josh said: “But if you tie the hands of the additional officers as well …”

Here’s some outside-the-box thinking: give your police force the authority to enforce the law and make arrests. You know – like a normal city police force. Then you won’t have to overlay a 2nd State police force over the top of your existing force and charge the taxpayer twice for the law and order promised in the first place.

But, but, but….. I thought that allowing folks to loot, shoot, steal, rob, beat others, impede traffic, overtake streets, stop traffic, burn police cars, threaten police directly, threaten to rape family members of LE, break windows, maraud, burn down businesses and so on was going to turn that whole area into Whoville after the Grinch carved the Who Beast.

Probably the churlren simply haven’t gotten the memo.

No offense to Ron Johnson, but remember when the media was hailing him as a hero … when he hadn’t even done anything yet? Kind of like Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize for lip service.

Ron Johnson is a complete disgrace. He does not deserve to wear a police uniform.

Johnson came to Ferguson and immediately started pandering to the hands up crowd. He said that he “tears in his eyes” and “shame in his heart” for what happened to Michael Brown.

But that is not all he said……

“And we all ought to be thanking the Browns for Michael,” he continued. “Because Michael’s gonna make it better for all of our sons so they can be better black men. It will be better for our daughters so they can be better black women. Better for me so I can be a better black father. And we know they’re going to make our mamas even better than they are today.”

Ron, is it okay if I just thank The Lord that Michael Brown didn’t get hold of Officer Wilson’s gun? That’s as far as I want to go.

And it’s funny, Ron, that the black POTUS, black Supreme Court justices , mayors and physicians and astronauts won’t make members of your community better people but a dead strong armed miscreant will.

      Odd, that.

I don’t know where to start here. St. Louis has been a corrupt, Dem, union hellhole for decades. As far as “help from the state” don’t forget how Gov. Jay Nixon deployed the NG to Ferguson only to direct them to stand down at the critical moment. It would be hard to believe he would do otherwise with the SHP. BTW Nixon has been AWOL lately except for trying to get another tax hike. I see no future for Dem. run big cities. I lived and worked in the Detroit area in the 70s and 80s under the reign of hisoner Coleman A Young. He was a “downtown first” guy. I sadly saw decent neighborhoods decline on a daily basis. We can all see how that turned out.
