Last night another black 18-year-old male was shot by an off-duty white Police Officer working a security job.
The Ferguson mob quickly ran to Saint Louis in an attempt to use the opportunity and drum up another racial incident of an innocent black child shot by racist white cop. Toward that end they were selling the story of a black child armed only with a sandwich.
Teyonna Myers, 23, of Florissant, said Myers was her cousin.
“He was unarmed,” Teyonna Myers said. “He had a sandwich in his hand, and they thought it was a gun. It’s like Michael Brown all over again.”
And that’s how the nonsense starts with this crowd. They immediately used the useful rumors to attack police cars, spit on the police, throw bricks and bottles, smash windows and cause general chaos. It’s apparently all the perpetually aggrieved know to do….

However, within a few hours a divergent set of facts surfaced.

18-year-old Vonderrick Myers Jr was well known to the police department prior to last night. Ballistics showed Vonderrick was armed and fired three times at a police officer before his Ruger 9mm jammed as the police officer was returning fire. Myers was killed, the gun recovered and a police press conference hastily assembled.

1:00am Press Conference – St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said the officer was patrolling the neighborhood for a private firm at the time of the shooting. He confirmed that the victim was 18 years old.
Dotson said the officer was in a car when he saw three males and one of them started to run away but stopped. The officer did a U-turn and then all three ran. He drove through streets following them and then chased them on foot. He then got into a physical confrontation with one that escalated into gunfire.
The teenager had a gun and fired at least three shots at the officer, who returned fire, the chief said. The teenager attempted to fire more but his gun jammed, Dotson said.
The officer fired 17 times, he said. It is unclear how many times the teenager was shot.
Police recovered a 9mm Ruger, he said.
Dotson did not identify the 18-year-old but said he “was no stranger to law enforcement.”
The chief said he is unaware of any video that captured the shooting.
He also said there had been no arrests of those involved in the protests that followed, during which several police vehicles were damaged. (link)
However, given the propensities of the Ferguson “protestors” don’t think a few facts will get in the way of a good riot opportunity.
After all, they’ve got stores to loot – and what kind of justice can ever be delivered without a new set of hair extensions.
