Retired General John Allen Selected for ISIS Campaign – And New Levels of Dot Connections Follow…..

When you read this, sip slowly, dust off the way-back machine, and think about the 13 Hours in Benghazi show you might have just watched air on Fox.   Yeah, I know, I can sense the puzzlement – but stay with it….

general john allen

The question posed to the Tree House was: Why are they selecting a retired General John Allen, instead of a current officer?

Deep breath:   This White House uses personal leverage to their advantage like no other before it.    Example #1: Where’s Bowe Bergdahl?  Example #2: What ever happened to Ahmed Abu Khattala the ‘recently’ captured head of the Benghazi attack ?

See…  you had to think about it.  This White House swamps us so much we  forget to follow-up…..

There is a risk to the political optics of fighting ISIS.  Consequently, this administration needs a competent general Denis McDonough can control, rely on, and possibly bypass the Pentagon.  So who can they leverage?  Yeah, that General John Allen.

Fire Up The Way-Back Machine To Summer 2012 !!

Jill and Dr. Scott Kelley lived in the Tampa / St. Pete area. They were/are active in the military community with support for military families.

The Kelley’s do numerous fundraisers etc. and when Petraeus was assigned to station in Tampa the Kelley’s hosted a meet-n-greet with Holly and David Petraeus.

Mr and Mrs. Petraeus became friends with Mr. and Mrs. Kelley.

So mid-summer 2012 Jill Kelley, a Petraeus family friend, began receiving odd and harrassing e-mails about her relationship with CIA director General David Petraeus:

“More like, ‘Who do you think you are? … You parade around the base … You need to take it down a notch,’” according to the source, who was until recently at the highest levels of the intelligence community and prefers not to be identified by name.

Jill Kelley then reaches out to a family friend, who is by profession, in the FBI.  Kelly asks if these unsourced e-mails reach the level of cyber-stalking.

The FBI “friend” takes Kelly to a field office where he puts her in contact with the “cyber-crimes” division/agents.  There they essentially come to the conclusion the statute on cyber-stalking does actually seem to apply, so they open a preliminary case.

The first step in that aspect of the case is to back-check the IP’s etc to find the origin of the e-mails to Kelley.

That initial investigative part finds Paula Broadwell as the origin of the e-mails to Kelley. So the FBI gets a subpoena to dig further into the Broadwell electronic mail accounts. *Note the investigation at this point is into Paula Broadwell*

During the research of Broadwell’s communication it becomes apparent that, in addition to harassing Kelly, Broadwell is in contact with CIA Director General David Petraeus on some “personal level”.

While this is occuring, the original FBI friend (unknown) of Kelley is asking the Cyber division people on the case for updates. They provide him some information based on professional courtesy.

The FBI friend in turn then relays this information to Jill Kelley herself;  Kelly then begins to inform her friend, General Petraeus, of the source.  Essentially Kelly telling Petraeus “heads up” this woman (Broadwell) you know has been identified as the origin of threatening e-mails to me.

It Gets Creepy –  Simultaneously, the FBI ‘friend’ of Kelley sends a personal, perhaps flirtatious, picture to Kelley that the FBI becomes aware of (they are monitoring Kelley’s communication).

The FBI, is not comfortable with the “non-professional” relationship between the FBI friend and Kelley, and they inform him he is ‘cut out’ of the story.

(The FBI probably know that Kelley is also back-channelling information from this guy to her friend Gen Petraeus – any investigator would not like this loss of control).

As the CIA Director becomes involved in the story, the FBI friend, now ‘cut out’, then perceives the story/investigation as potentially being buried because of the people involved.

So he takes the bit of “outsider” information he knows to a congressman;  who, in turn, takes the information to House Majority Whip, Congressman Eric Cantor.

Congressman Cantor then reaches out to the FBI and asks if General Petraeus is the subject of an investigation.

Essentially, at this point in time Cantor is long-armed by the FBI to his inquiry because, in essence, General Petraeus is NOT the subject of an FBI investigation — Paula Broadwell is.

However, subsequent to the Cantor inquiry “higher ups” (FBI Director Robert Mueller) within the FBI is then notified.  Mueller is told there is this investigation of this woman (Broadwell) which attaches her to CIA Director Petraeus in a rather sordid fashion.

The “affair is now outed.”

During the investigation it is noted/discovered that General Petraeus has been sexually involved with the Broadwell woman, however there is no criminal law-breaking per se’ on the part of the General, nor is he lying or covering it up.

So technically, there was no investigation of General Petraeus, only Paula Broadwell.

So technically, there is no notification to the Senate Intelligence Oversight Committee because they don’t tell the oversight committee about affairs, or personal indiscretions, only about unlawful activity being investigated.

At some point (late summer – Aug/Sept. 2012) the FBI head, Director Robert Mueller, now needs to tell the DOJ -Eric Holder- about Petraeus showing up on the radar of an investigation into another party.

Again, it appears no law was broken, and Petraeus was NOT the source of the investigation. The FBI interviews Petraeus to discuss, he admits the affair, they find no security breach – so it is not illegal.

Benghazi Happens 9/11/12

After the investigation into Broadwell / Petraeus, a letter of investigative finding is filed (late Oct 2012).

Subsequently, because Petraeus is outlined in the investigation of Broadwell, the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, is notified (End October 2012).

Clapper then calls Petraeus and tells him the affair is probably going to come out because two congressmen also have knowlege of it – further it compromises his position as CIA Director. Clapper recommends resignation.

The following day Clapper then tells the President of the conversation and recommendation. The following day President Obama calls Petraeus to the White House, they discuss, they agree on resignation.

Story could have stopped there, it didn’t.  Because of Benghazi and….

…… as the newly awakened media began looking backwards into Paula Broadwell they find some statements from Broadwell about CIA operations in Benghazi that could only have come from her relationship with General Petraeus, “pillow talk.”   Major super secret intelligence information:

Given the relationship revelation, the speech at Colorado University by Broadwell, takes on a new level of meaning.

As Broadwell outlined in her statement that the Benghazi CIA “Annex” was also a CIA detention facility of sorts, it becomes obvious that she might be in posession of leaked CIA classified information.   Did she actually have information about CIA rendition sites?

Her claim of Benghazi Militia members being held at the CIA compound is NOW the issue of investigation.

In essence — “Did Petraeus tell Broadwell CIA secrets?” now becomes the national story.

FBI agents were at the Broadwell home in North Carolina Monday night to carry out a consensual search that had been arranged with her lawyers, law enforcement sources said. The search was to locate additional classified material on computers or documents in the home, the sources said.

Broadwell appears to be cooperating with investigators in an effort to make this go away, to show that she has nothing else to hide, the sources said.

But House Majority Leader Eric Cantor knew of Petraeus’ affair with Broadwell almost two weeks before the former CIA director resigned his post.

A senior Cantor aide told ABC News that the Republican congressman from Virginia learned about the FBI investigation that brought the affair to light in a phone conversation with an FBI agent Oct. 27.

Cantor then asked his chief-of-staff to pass the information along to the head of the FBI, Robert Mueller. Cantor spoke to no one else about the investigation, the aide said.

Hurricane Sandy delayed the message to Mueller until Oct. 31. Petraeus admitted the extramarital relationship and submitted his resignation nine days later. (more)

…. and oh yeah, watch out for here’s where the General Allen story connects to Jill Kelley

[…] In a new twist to the Gen. David Petraeus sex scandal, the Pentagon said Tuesday [November 13th 2012] that the top American commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, is under investigation for alleged “inappropriate communications” with a woman who is said to have received threatening emails from Paula Broadwell, the woman with whom Petraeus had an extramarital affair, Jill Kelly.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in a written statement issued to reporters aboard his aircraft, en route from Honolulu to Perth, Australia, that the FBI referred the matter to the Pentagon on Sunday. Panetta said that he ordered a Pentagon investigation of Allen on Monday.

Allen, a four-star Marine general, succeeded Petraeus as the top American commander in Afghanistan in July 2011.

The senior official, who discussed the matter only on condition of anonymity because it is under investigation, said Panetta believed it was prudent to launch a Pentagon investigation, although the official would not explain the nature of Allen’s problematic communications.

The official said 20,000 to 30,000 pages of emails and other documents from Allen’s communications with Kelley between 2010 and 2012 are under review. He would not say whether they involved sexual matters or whether they are thought to include unauthorized disclosures of classified information.

He said he did not know whether Petraeus is mentioned in the emails.

“Gen. Allen disputes that he has engaged in any wrongdoing in this matter,” the official said. He said Allen currently is in Washington. (More)

Within a few weeks General John Allen retires.

Occam’s Razor: 2012’s quiet disappearance is 2014’s leverage.

Now, to tie up a few “nuther” bits.

Remember, the explosive yet underreported aspect to Paula Broadwell in 2012 was her discussing highly classified information about the Benghazi Annex also being a CIA rendition and black op’s site.

Because everyone was so focused on Hillary Clinton’s congressional testimony almost no-one paid Broadwell’s massive revelation any further attention.   No-one followed up with questioning of anyone about it.

Now, watch again what Benghazi Contractor Mark “Oz” Geist was saying in the Bret Baier interview about his role that night @16:08

As angry as I have been about GW Bush’s religion of peace lie, I do not believe he would EVER have left our personnel to die, but would have sent help immediately. Bush was military, loved military, supports and visits military wounded and family to this day. Bush values human life and America.

Obama does not value America or human life as a supporter of 3rd term abortion and killing of babies that survive abortion. His rules of engagement are secret, I have read, and have increased casualties. Obama pretends to care about blacks, but his policies have held them back income-wise. Obama’s promotion of unhealthy sexual lifestyles is also deadly to Americans, particularly the young black males who have the greatest increase in HIV and all other STD infections of any other demographic. Open borders, joblessness, taxes, gun control, persecution of dissenters, etc. Obama administration (and the communist/Islamist consortium behind Obama) policies are a clear and present danger to America and its people.

As Obama flitters, dithers, and twitters about they grow stronger. He is beyond hope as an American President. Until he is finally gone from the scene nothing good at all will happen. V A Day is Jan.10,2016. Until then we can only hope to mitigate the damage he is doing as much as possible. His will be a legacy of failure and destruction. Never have so few, done so much damage, to so many in America.

So what if they grow stronger. What would ISIS gain by attacking the US? My only concern is the plight of the Christian Arabs and I guess you cannot ask the US government to act on their behalf since that would favor one group over another. Christian people of the world should act to protect their own who are being mistreated by ISIS.

That Fox report had me in tears! That whole situation didn’t have to proceed in the manner it did…such uneccesary loss of life, debilitating injury, the loss of trust in our govt. having our guys backs. It’s heartbreaking on one hand…on the other, I feel such pride in my heart for these guys who ran towards gunfire and didn’t let their brothers down. I am angrier today about what happened than ever before…and that’s pretty damn angry! May the God of justice provide that necessary justice for all those involved in risking our men in such a cavalier manner.

The trade term is “honeypot” or “honeytrap”.
The long term implications for the Pentagon and the active duty leadership are pretty dire, here. No matter how competent an officer is, the Regime will pull a guy out of “retirement” who they have full control of to do the deed.

This practice has created another tier of Regime control and subverts the entire Department of Defense, turning it into a plaything of the “Great and Powerful” Oz. The regime no longer bothers with trivialities like getting the advice of the senior military before doing something.

The senior military leadership is left on the hook for anything going wrong, creating the plausible deniability, yet are compelled to do beelzebub’s bidding.

There are more of these freeze-dried retired general officer henchmen in the wings. Not all of them will be subjected to publicity. They all owe personal fealty to not the Constitution, nor a Party, but to one man. Oh, yeah, THAT sure will turn out great (echoes of the Riech).

While that is a possibility, she/they could also just be social climber types. It’s difficult to determine between successful social parasites and an agent of some type since the behaviors and skills are inclusive.

I read a LOT about Jill Khawam Kelly during this scandal. She is of Lebanese descent, born in Beirut, and has a twin sister. Does that make her a double threat? She married a doctor from Dartmouth and Columbia Medical college. Her bio says that a member of the Afghanistan government reached out to her to ask if she could help with the “peaceful withdrawal” of American troops. Just curious, how does that work for an Afghani to find a socialite in Tampa, Fl.? Her sister was involved in an ugly divorce and had Gen. Petraeus as a character witness. There were early rumors that Jill and Gen. Allen were involved in an affair but that was never proven although their emails numbered in the thousands. There is also documentation that she and her doctor husband are deeply in debt. She does sound like a good Mati Hari, doesn’t she?

Good point. However, these women served a coordinated purpose. They had placement (Tampa, socialites) and knew how to create access for themselves (via flattery to aging dudes who crave feminine attention).
I doubt that they were screened for specific physical characteristics beyond generic good looks, this would maximize their utility and application in the broadest sense.
Not saying this is what it is, but it sure seems that way in looking at the who, the what , the when.

Both are bad news.

I don’t want to seem anti military here but ALL of our senior military officers are part of what is known over in Egypt as ‘the Deep State’, the more or less permanent bureaucracy that runs the most powerful government on earth. What Colonel David Hackworth referred to as the ‘perfumed princes’ that inhabit the Pentagon. The Colin Powells, Wesley Clarks, William Crowes and David Petraeus’ that get the top posts not because they are warriors but because they are political generals.

General Allen’s job is going to be political. He’s supposed to keep together a coalition of Sunni, Shia and infidel governments, none of whom wants to suffer any consequences yet is, somehow, supposed to defeat a ruthless Islamic movement. His only tools for this task are, incredibly, the militias, not of any state, but the Kurds and Iraqi religious leaders with some American air support. In essence a reprise of the initial American attack on the Taliban where, using the ragged forces of the “Northern Alliance” to make contact with Mullah Omar’s troops and then have the USAF blast them off the face of the earth. Its very doubtful the more capable ISIS troops are going to cooperate.

Given the real risk of this operation not just failing but failing spectacularly with terrorist blow back against the regimes and territory of the coalition partners that General Allen even accepted the position is the mystery.

Of course one should remember that Hack was against going into Iraq from the very beginning. This was way beyond “stay five yards apart” in his thinking. The most troubling dynamic existed between the Department of Defense and the State Department. Warriors versus Peace Corps. Along came the lawyers who created ROEs (rules of engagement) where hands were tied while flowers were offered more often than not.

Obama’s game plan is to provide “side shows” while Iran gets the bomb! That will be the radical game changer.

At the same time, Putin sees this game with ISIS as another moment when he can come out and play hardball, against Obama and others.

Once we’re done with “musical chairs” we will move on to “hot potato” where events will move much faster and dangers will become even more real.

Blood will start flowing in greater amounts. But rest assured, those in the American Congress and Executive branch will not have their hands stained nor will they be in uniform, nor their family members.

These malignant narcissists need to go, to be voted out of office and replaced with those who put principle over politics, who think working towards becoming true statesmen is a higher and more noble goal than to win elections and control the reins of America’s political power machines.

I am not optimistic about this occurring while I am alive.

It may not get to that point. The actual game changers may be a bit closer. Scottish independence, should it come to pass, will confirm the geopolitical trend towards decentralization. When/if they go, other places will start to part ways. How long would it take for the USA to experience that?

While I do not think that such an event is necessarily in America’s interests, the momentum of this historical wave may prove irresistible. If it happens, no one will have spare cares to give over ISIS or anything else, for that matter.

I’m rather hoping Mattis is at the top of the tree in the Trump admin. As I understand it, the ‘warrior monk’ is not only a walking historical library, but chose to be more field oriented, rather than going the Pentagon route. Maybe he could checker out a bunch of the Perfumed Princes and pull up good ones to fill those roles?

State Dept needs a total fumigation AND their budget cut to simply running their Embassies. Too much money in budgets which can be used for BAD purposes.

That is not anti-military. What you state is fact. For those doubtful, just look at the corporate board memberships and consultancy gigs held by “retired” Generalissimos. 6. His meeting with the CIA case officer was ended when he received a call telling him to get back to base. His response of, “you’re in my world now, just let me do what I need to do…” absolutely indicates that the annex was being used as a black ops site. So, the administration knew EXACTLY what the attack was about – and an unknown, obscure YouTube video was not it. I’m sure the Administration went on high alert and ordered the MSM, paid for content control, to NOT report on Broadwel’sl statement about the annex being used as a black ops site.

The primary problem people have after reading “The Benghazi Brief” is the lack of assigning motive to the night’s attack itself.

I have always contended the motive is difficult to nail down because our research shows there were too many parties, friends an foes, with divergent self interests all circling issues around the Benghazi Compound and Annex.

However, that said, the attack as a principle matter for Islamists reacting to having essentially a mini GITMO rendition site on their soil is probably the biggest umbrella motive which covers most of the on ground players.

If memory serves me correctly, the Kelly woman is Middle Eastern born and Middle Eastern bred, exactly where she is on the Muzzie family tree escapes me at this point, but there was a distinct possibility she was a Muzzie sympathizer at the time the Petraeus scandal broke. What triggered the Broadwell broad’s alarm bells, Broadwell’s professional interests at the time were military ops and intel, was the way the Kelly woman glommed onto each successive Afghan and iraq war commander and stayed on him like a Great Lakes Lamprey on a Sturgeon. Brioadwell’s biggest concern, which triggered her e-maiil flurry was that Kelly was some kind of Muzzie Mata Hari, Kelly had glommed onto Petraeus when he was in Afghanistan and after Petraeus went to CIA and Allen became Afghan Commander Kelly turned and glommed onto Allen. Allen was cleared of suspiscion, but when you start sending pictures of yourself stripped down to your skivvies to a woman who is not your wife, eyebrows raise. How and why the Kelly woman was able to worm her way into the circles America’s military commanders moved in was also unclear, she had no clear business being there.
Muzzie president, muzzie Mata Hari, compromised general, nice mix. Obama is a very dangerous man, dangerous to America. Two political opponents running against Obama get their supposedly sealed messy divorce proceedings opened and leaked to the press, another Obama opponent gets kicked off the ballot by having all the signatures on the ballot petition invalidated. Running for president a banking crisis and subsequent stock market collapse is mysteriously precipitated by some shadowy group sinking John McCain’s campaign, then Hurricane Sandy appears bizaarely out of season, assumes the most unlikely of courses and strikes the northeastern United States saving the Obama re election campaign. As ‘Slick Willie” is alleged to have once said “Barack Obama is luckier than a dog with two dicks”

Jill Kelley Helped Muslim Nations, Hezbollah Infiltrate Central Command, MacDill Base; “Go To Girl” For Muslim Parties w/ Generals

    By Debbie Schlussel

Jill Khawam Kelley was the hand-picked lobbyist for Muslim nations and their agenda at Central Command.

Kelley, who is part of the soap opera that the Petraeus scandal spawned, was in charge of hosting parties and social events to push the Islamic agenda of Middle Eastern countries. She was seen by Muslim Mid-East nations, especially Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon, as the “go to” woman to push their agenda on top American generals. She was a lobbyist for their cause and, yet, wasn’t required to register as a lobbyist, like all others who host lavish parties for top American officials, like she did, in an attempt to influence U.S. policy in the Middle East.

Kelley, a dhimmi Christian Arab of Lebanese descent, was well known in the Muslim Arab embassies of Washington for doing their bidding and hosting their parties at and near MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, where our nation’s top generals are based. It’s where Central Command–the U.S. Armed Forces’ leadership over wars and military personnel Middle East–is headquartered.

When a friend of mine said that he thought the financially troubled Khawam sisters, Kelley and Natalie Khawam, were spies for Lebanon and the Arab world, I originally expressed skepticism. I believed that these twin sisters with obvious twin nose jobs were merely bimbo gold diggers in slutty outfits, who used their Delilah ways to first nab rich husbands, and then nab idiotic top American generals to participate in Lifetime-Channel-worthy bitter child custody disputes. But then I learned that Ms. Kelley, who was until this week under the radar, was quietly involved in pushing the agenda of Muslim Arab nations on our nation’s top generals with whom she’d grown close by design. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Ms. Kelley got her hooks into our two top generals in the Middle East, David Petraeus and John Allen. I’m now convinced that my friend, lawyer Gary Welsh of Advance Indiana, who has excellent instincts, was correct.

I’ve long written about the infiltration of Central Command at MacDill Air Base in Tampa by Islamic terrorists. Islamic Jihad founder and convicted Islamic terrorist, Sami Al-Arian, was an instructor on the Middle East to our top generals at MacDill Air Force Base AT THE VERY SAME TIME that he was planning mergers and terrorist attacks in Israel with “the brothers of HAMAS” and while he was bringing Muslim illegal alien Islamic terrorists to the U.S. Al-Arian’s friend and co-conspirator, Ramadan Abdullah Shallah (one of those Al-Arian brought here), who became the Secretary-General of the worldwide Islamic Jihad terrorist group, was also a lecturer at MacDill and also taught our top generals his poisonous views on the Middle East and Israel. FBI and INS agents who investigated Shallah and Al-Arian were alarmed at the influence these two top Islamic terrorists had over CentCom. They were also alarmed to find many books on the inner workings of MacDill in Shallah’s house when they raided it.

So when people ask me how I think these women were able to insert themselves into top generals’ lives and topple them (along with, apparently, the men they married), I think back to the fact that our top generals gladly allowed top terrorists to infiltrate Central Command as alleged “professors” on the Middle East. And when generals like Petraeus and Norman Schwarzkopf, Jr. openly attack Israel and America’s relationship with Israel, people like Jill Khawam Kelley and Al-Arian and Shallah are the reason why. Khawam Kelley isn’t an innocent socialite. She’s an agent of influence for Arab Muslim nations.

    The Washington Post reports:

A military officer who is a former member of Petraeus’s staff said Kelley was a “self-appointed” go-between for Central Command officers with Lebanese and other Middle Eastern officials. . . . At the parties Jill Kelley hosted at her Tampa mansion, guests were frequently treated to the indulgences of celebrity life: valet parking, string quartets on the lawn, premium cigars and champagne, and caviar-laden buffets.

The main recipients of the largess were military brass — including some of the nation’s most senior commanders — based at nearby MacDill Air Force Base.

Kelley flaunted her access to these military VIPs. . . . The investigations of Petraeus’s and Allen’s actions, nonetheless, have raised questions about how Kelley, a woman with no formal military role, cultivated such close ties to two of the nation’s most revered generals.

One former aide to Allen, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the case, suggested that Kelley had become a de facto social ambassador among high-ranking personnel at MacDill, home to the U.S. Central Command and Special Operations Command.

    The Wall Street Journal reports:

Middle Eastern diplomats in Washington also knew Ms. Kelley, who came from a Lebanese immigrant family and who helped arrange social activities when dignitaries from the region visited Tampa, diplomats said. She also sometimes attended parties at Washington embassies.

I guarantee you that Jill Khawam Kelley wasn’t hosting visits from dignitaries from Israel. And, other than those from Israel, every single “Middle Eastern diplomat” in Washington is a Muslim, most of them Muslim Arabs. And all of them Muslims with an agenda that is anti-Israel and anti-Western. And definitely not in America’s best interests. They come to Tampa for one reason and one reason only–to ingratiate themselves with the top military brass at CentCom at MacDill.

And Jill Khawam Kelley was their social director in that mission.

Kelley’s sister, Natalie Khawam, was married to a top Bush administration official, Grayson Wolfe, Director of Broader Middle East Initiatives and Iraqi Reconstruction at the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and frequently accompanied him on trips to the Middle East, including to Pakistan. Before that position, Wolfe was the Bush-installed Manager of the Private Sector Development Office of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, Iraq. How many of the Khawam’s insider Arab Muslim friends did he give sweetheart contracts to? Before It’s News has more and asks more questions about the consulting and contracting firm that Wolfe now heads. Although they are now embroiled in a bitter custody fight over their son, you have to wonder what influence Khawam had on him and what was done in the Middle East. She recently sued her former employer, a Jewish lawyer, Barry Cohen, but gave up after her lawsuit was shown to be phony. Cohen struck back and found that Khawam engaged in bankruptcy fraud.

My friend wasn’t so far-fetched when he insisted the Khawam chicks are modern day Mata Haris for the Muslim Arabs.

Just look at what they’ve accomplished for the Muslim Mid-East, all of it under the radar . . . until Paula Broadwell had the stupidity to send her threatening e-mails and Jill Khawam Kelley had the stupidity of complaining about it to shirtless FBI agent Frederic Humphries.

    Also revealing…

My 2-cents: as I’ve said before, flag (general, including Navy grades)) officers are politicians more than they are soldiers (personal view). They have hacked their ways through seas of other officers, biting and clawing to the top, and have left enemies with dented careers behind. As generals have to have some Congresspersons on their sides as their promotions from the lowest officer grades to the top have to be approved by the Senate many have Senators (and some influential Reps) who are out gunning for them. As a general you walk a much finer line over a pit filled with political lions. If you screw up, even to a level that might not end you career as a captain or lieutenant colonel, you can expect the results to require surgical removal from areas where the sun of a bright career don’t shine. GEN Patraeus did most likely commit a crime – adultery under Article 134 of the UCMJ though the exact dates of the romps in the straw were not revealed. One incident of his playing ‘bury the biographer’ during his tenure in uniform would subject him to Article 134 punishment – a situation that’s been sure-death to more than one general officer over the last two PC decades. There were also questions as to where Ms Broadwell got the classified documents the FBI found on her computer and some foggy fingers pointed at Patraeus. A Special Security Officer of the subject’s commander does not have to have iron-clad evidence that an individual has disclosed, or otherwise mishandled, classified information allowing unauthorized person(s) access. A suspicion of mishandling is enough to have the military member’s security clearance suspended pending an in-depth investigation. You ain’t proven guilty of anything but the downside is that you cannot function as an officer, never mind a general grade officer, without a clearance. Patraeus’ clearance was never pulled to the best of my knowledge but I’m betting that those gunning for him who now had two potentially embarrassing and career-ending items in hand convinced him to drink the hemlock. Had he have had the full trust an confidence of his Commander (guess who????) you can bet that this would have been handled quite differently. That said, no UCMJ investigation was launched and Patreaus not only held on to his security clearance but got a position as Head Spook.

To me, regarding Gen Allen’s choice to head up the latest Obama Dog & Pony Show, ‘retired’ is the key word. Allen’s being chosen as someone with feet in both the Administration’s camp and the military, but most importantly someone who can be trusted to wisely deal in another POtuS ‘couldn’t pour p*ss out of a boot’ area and who can give the POtuS and the Dems a bit of Midterm cover. Now it looks like the military A-Team’s on top of this, Hamilton Allen pushing a plan together while B.A. Barackus sits in the oval office just in case someone needs him to run out for coffee for the men. GEN Allen is also now a civilian, outside of the circle of Good Old Boys in the JCS chairs (maybe with an ax or two to grind) and knows the regular BS the top generals would use to delay and obfuscate any actions they were told to take. Allen can cut through the military BS smokescreen DoD would normally use if they were unhappy at being told to turn lead into political gold as he was once a smokescreener. Allen also has the creds to serve as a dartboard just in case this all goes south and doesn’t mesh – the POtuS can just stand there and say that it was all Allen’s fault as he’s an expert, knows the men and materials far better than the boy emperor does – so it can’t be BB’s fault.

Let’s see what happens AFTER the Midterms as far as substantive anti-ISIS actions. I’m betting that nothing substantial will happen before then, just enough blurry thermal imaging film of expensive bombs being drooped by very expensive planes onto blurry targets. Soccer mom and soccer dad will watch it, take the talking head’s explanation of what’s going on wholeheartedly, breathe a sigh of relief and go back to the really important things in their lives such as the new seasons of reality shows and the football games. Go Saints!

A lot of political people were gunning for “Peaches” Be-Tray-us on both sides of the aisle, in and out of uniform. He was not in the prescribe uniform when he took that bullet to the chest on the range, was not wearing his K-vest, as prescribed by Div. OPORD. Now I agree with you comments, about how and why “Peach” was turned. Now after Gen. Allen issues his intent to all involve he better establish his HQ very close to the doers, keep an eye on his logistics, ground targeting, signet Intell, CIA daily briefs…….and we are only talking military action, what’s the foreign money trail, in and out of the AOR, the who’s and other characters involved. Yes the soccer Moms/Dads will breath a sigh of relief, and if this does go south Allen will be fired again. This sounds like somebody else who gave the Demo political cover, in 2008, can’t think of name. I’ll ride with you on this one Czar!

I believe the big thing was – he got caught. General grade officers can do about anything they want as long as they don’t get caught and embarrass themselves, the Army and give their enemies something to chew won. I still think the telling things were that his clearance wasn’t pulled after the leak was discovered and he got a boffo job as DCI after he resigned under a cloud. He rotated into the XVIII Airborne Corps a few months after I left so as a member of teh Dragon Brigade (America’s Praetorian Guard) I’ll give him th benefit of the doubt.

Czar, as you laid it out, it will come to pass. I sure won’t take a bet against that action.

      • czarowniczy says:

When I get some time I’ll look into that. There are a lot of intersecting pipeline issues and most seem to rotate around the Russian/Iranian connection and the joint Russian/Iranian Caspian Seas reserves and the monstrous South Pars field shared by Iran and Qatar. I think this bodes ill for the US, especially with a gutless wussy-boy in the WH, it would have been hard for an RR to dig out of this one but then an RR would never have let things get this bad. Stay tuned, sports fans, you may be seeing the deathblow for the US dollar as THE international currency being set up.

Czar, the death of the dollar is a few years off, the dollar will die, either a basket of currencies or Chi-coms will take the lead. Unless BO does it first, kill the dollar, it will happen on the next Presidents watch.

          • czarowniczy says:

Iran was floating a plan around the Gulf States to form a new oil bourse some ten years ago but just didn’t have the horsepower. The new bourse would use a basket of currencies to value oil instead of the US dollar. My opinion as to why the Gulf States didn’t jump on it was that the Saudis were still too pendent upon the US and the US under Bush was still THE power to reckon with. Having The Great Feckless One in the Offal Office now has shown every country with a pointy stick that they can poke us and the POtuS will quickly run to the closet and hide until the boogeyperson goes away. Now Iran and Russia are realigning the power base in the Gulf and with the monstrous oil and NG reserves Iran and Russia control, and the military strength to scare the hell out of the non-compliant, I think their bourse will start to take off. I’m watching for Russia to take Iran by the hand and start talking mutually beneficial oil and NG cooperation with the Gulf countries. Russia will guarantee their safety and they will distribute the booty to the glee of all. Russia will have its bases there and the US will have its rusty and well-worn planes and ships based…where?

Hamas claim it is behind Ferguson riots may not be far-fetched or braggadocio –

Over 20 years ago, at a little before 8 AM, I noticed a few enforcement cars at the little store a block from my school. When I left at 4 PM, there were LOs from departments I didn’t even know existed and that store was stripped bare. This is not hyperbole. Turns out they were Pakistanis who were defrauding the government and sending money to terrorists back home. This was before they owned ALL of the convenience stores in the world. If the Ferguson store is involved in support for terrorists, they have now drawn the eyes of the law and they too can disappear in under 8 hours.

Some questions from a non-military citizen, especially to ex-military folks:

Does naming a retired general baffle anyone else? I’ve studied a fair amount of military history over my lifetime, but I feel as if I’m missing something (especially related to O’s scheming ways). As if there aren’t enough quality active leaders in the military ranks already? Isn’t this a slap at those current leaders faces? I’m as inclined as many on CTH to believe Obama wants this “non-war” to fail as much as succeed, so does naming a retired general fit into some plan O thinks he has to avoid the blame when it fails (as surely as it seems from my limited perspective).

Is it likely naming a retired general like Allen to head up the anti-ISIS campaign related to O’s ignoring/rejecting the “best military advice” of Army Gen. Lloyd Austin, commander of CENTCOM, i.e. (as reported) “send(ing) a modest contingent of American troops, principally Special Operations forces, to advise and assist Iraqi army units in fighting the militants”? As in, either a slap at that news story ever being leaked in the first place, or O’s rejection of current CENTCOM leadership when they know the campaign (as O wants to fight it) will ultimately fail (as it seems destined to from my limited perspective)?

Have any retired generals ever been tapped to head up other Middle East military campaigns in the last few decades?

Something seems to stinks about the entire appointment of retired personnel to carry out O’s war legacy.

Retired generals usually get well paid gigs with defense contractors.

    • Col(R) Ken says:

Good questions, Generals never really retire. Most when they leave military receive those highly paid DOD contracting positions or work directly for Military contractors. Lots of good positions are available for those in the star club, if they want to pursue that avenue.
Some Generals do return to active duty, Bush named one as JOC, Gen Zuni returned as an adviser, not in uniform, in 2003 during and briefly after trying to secure the peace. That POS Rumsfeld should have listen to his solution on Iraq, but the political hacks moved in and Zuni was gone.
BO wanted his owned, man Allen, yes he owns him, Austin ( I know) is right in his concept, use Seals, Rangers, and SF (special ops troops) as spotters for the Air Force to drop the lead on. The issue with this is not enough of them. Have not recalled any retired Generals back in uniform in action, as with Allen in quite a while. Now my choice for this mission would be Gen Mathis, USMC. Now goggle him, that’s a Warrior! He would be my choice for this operation.
Ask away, always ready to provide an answer whether you agree or not, just the way I see it.
If you don’t believe me about the club for generals, goggle Ricardo Sanchazs former VII Corp Commander, the prison scandal in Iraq 04-05, the scandal did not do him in, he was a POS in peacetime and war. Some boys burned his new home down in Texas.

        Col Ken,
Good points, all. Based on your experience, why is it that the U.S. was able to prosecute WW2 with 1/3 of the number of G.O.s we presently have on hand?

Sounds like I’m back in C&GSC. I take a swagger at the question, and please post your answer. Congress sets the Force Structure. Manning in Brigades, Divisions, and Corps. Will anyone in the media, including Fox, question this.

I know nothing of military history, really. Can you tell him how unusual this is, for a retired general to head up something like this?

I ask because if it’s something entirely new, I’d expect even the rear-end lickers to bring up questions about it.

  15. mcfyre2012 says:

“Can you tell him how unusual this is, for a retired general to head up something like this?”

In America’s modern-day military, it’s unusual and completely unnecessary, as there are a plethora of highly-capable general officers to head up this operation. The choice of Allen by all appearances looks like a choice that the WH can manipulate to the fullest extent, rather than pick a general officer who is either unknown or seen as un-loyal to the Obama regime.

This is just another shady operation from the WH; from a president who was elected having zero executive/managerial experience.

  16. RJ says:

Officers can always be called back to active duty…especially Generals. Lifers are just that, lifers.

You’re right and wise to question this move by our Dear Leader. Of note is that now seemingly everyone who pays attention is questioning every word and decision Obama-Mao utters and says he is making. That is very telling.

Who trusts a true liar? Who trusts a liar who has burned you?

Hope that Obama burns out just like his Daddy… Think of the coming elections: If the democrats lose the Senate and the Republicans hold onto the House, what will happen to Obama’s game plan? He will turn truly evil 24/7 on our Congress, he’ll really ramp up his language assaults, dirty passive aggressive tricks.

Did you really look at the speech he gave this week?

Note how his eyes–darkened to almost black, with two bright white dots–his eyes were transfixed on the camera lens, starring right into your eyes like a hypnotist does as he puts to sleep his subject, prior to giving instructions on future behaviors.

Scared the hell out of me, seeing that evil stare into the camera, entering my living room, looking at me with so much hatred!

He wants Iran to get a nuke. Then he will play hard ball with Israel as ISIS marches toward our best friend in the Middle east.

General Allen is just a pawn in Obama’s game. The sad part is that the General can’t see it and accepted the job. He’ll be working with Chuckie Hagel and potato face Kerry, two other needy little boys who want to be big bad men!

Wait till we hear from Putin on all this stuff that Obama is throwing out there on the world stage.

“Tell Vlad I’ll be more flexible after this coming election” Barack Hussein Obama spoke those words, did he not?

Here’s the nugget I’ve gotten from SD’s article and all the thoughtful responses: If a Commander-In-Chief has no problem with the idea of certain Theocratic governments, and i s also enthusiastic about the liberation of certain predominately religious peoples under other dictatorships, then it would not be worrisome to have a couple of US Generals compromised by indiscrete conduct with women— even women with a questionable association with groups from countries with shaky alliances to terrorism. I am supposing that leveraging used by the White House with General Allen is going to be useful to the Commander In Chief in some way down the road.

  18. mojitomom says:

Fascinating comments by clearly thoughtful Americans. I’d love feedback to any of the following concerns of mine:

1)Has the FBI completed its investigation of General Petraeus’ possible security leaks or are they keeping him under investigation so that he cannot be questioned by Cong. Gowdy’s Select Committee on Benghazi?

2)When Pres. Obama announced the other night that the US had conducted 120 air strikes, did anyone in the media do the math? Over the course of the past month, that amounts to about 4 missions per day. With estimates of 31,000 ISIS troops spread over an area about the size of Delaware, 4 missions per day doesn’t seem to be an aggressive attempt to destroy ISIS.

3)I don’t believe Pres. Obama began attacking ISIS or even succumbed to public pressure to make a speech because of American journalists kidnapped in Syria. I’ve read that Obama has 5,500 American staff assigned to the Embassy in Baghdad (Why is the largest US Embassy in the WORLD in Iraq?) and our two consulates plus 10,000 or so American contractors. Doing what ? – and contractors for what American companies? I believe that ISIS was getting close to Erbil and Obama couldn’t afford another Benghazi, this time potentially with Americans being dragged through the streets and shot publicly as ISIS has killed so many others.

4)The US has only 10 aircraft carriers as of 2014. It appears that three are currently in drydock for the foreseeable future. With both Russia and China behaving aggressively in this opportunistic period of weak leadership, the US cannot afford to move battle groups out of the North Atlantic, North Pacific and Western Pacific/Southeast Asia. The George H.W. Bush has been kept on deployment an extra 5 or 6 weeks already. Three carriers appear to be in home ports, perhaps awaiting orders. Just how and when does Pres. Obama plan to execute airstrikes capable of destroying ISIS since we apparently have no broad coalition members wiling to do anything but supply humanitarian aid. And, how are we supposed to continue a multi-year counterterrorism/war when we are firing thousands of majors, captains, sergeants and chiefs, decimating our future military leadership?

Finally, I’m beginning the think that this is just a stunt to attempt to change the president’s poll numbers. I believe it is very clear that Obama had done no diplomatic or military preparation prior to his Wednesday night speech. I believe that he is making no efforts to curtail his dismantling of the military. I believe that the president is making a lot of noise to distract from the many failures democrats will be held accountable for in the election.
