Egypt and UAE Launch Airstrikes Against Islamists and Muslim Brotherhood in Libya….

Fatah el Sisi going it alone.  Didn’t even bother to tell the U.S.  ROFLMAO – Go Si-si, Go Si-si.   Defending Israel, attacking Hamas, and now launching strikes against the Brotherhood in Libya !

Git R’ Done !!

[…]  The issue has caused a rare schism among the Arab monarchies of the gulf because Qatar has taken the opposite tact. In contrast to its neighbors, it has welcomed Islamist expatriates to its capital, Doha, and supported their factions around the region, including in Libya.

And who does President Obama side with ?  Why, Qatar of course !

CAIRO — Twice in the last seven days, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have secretly launched airstrikes against Islamist-allied militias battling for control of Tripoli, Libya, four senior American officials said, in a major escalation of a regional power struggle set off by Arab Spring revolts.

The United States, the officials said, was caught by surprise: Egypt and the Emirates, both close allies and military partners, acted without informing Washington, leaving the Obama administration on the sidelines. Egyptian officials explicitly denied to American diplomats that their military played any role in the operation, the officials said, in what appeared a new blow to already strained relations between Washington and Cairo.

The strikes in Tripoli are another destabilizing salvo in a power struggle defined by old-style Arab autocrats battling Islamist movements seeking to overturn the old order. Since the military ouster of the Islamist president in Egypt last year, the new government and its backers in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have launched a campaign across the region — in the news media, in politics and diplomacy, and by arming local proxies — to roll back what they see as an existential threat to their authority posed by Islamist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood.

Arrayed against them and backing the Islamists are the rival states of Turkey and Qatar.

American officials said the Egyptians and the Emirates had teamed up against an Islamist target inside Libya at least once before. In recent months, the officials said, teams of “special forces” operating out of Egypt but possibly composed primarily of Emirates had also successfully destroyed an Islamist camp near the eastern Libyan city of Derna, an extremist stronghold.

Several officials said in recent days that United States diplomats were fuming about the airstrikes, believing the intervention could further inflame the Libyan conflict as the United Nations and Western powers are seeking to broker a peaceful resolution. Officials said the government of Qatar has already provided weapons and support to the Islamist-aligned forces inside Libya, so the new strikes represent a shift from a battle of proxies to direct involvement. It could also set off an arms race on both sides.

“We don’t see this as constructive at all,” said one senior American official.

The strikes have also, so far, proved counterproductive. Islamist-aligned militias fighting for control of Tripoli successfully seized its main airport just hours after they were hit with the second round of strikes. (keep reading)

Obama and Kerry snubbed el-Sisi (in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood) after Morsi was ousted, so it’s no surprise that Egypt doesn’t keep DC “in the know” about operations against the jihadists.

So that makes Israel, Germany, and Egypt who no longer bother with the pretense of notifying the US of important stuff. Way to go, berry.

They might also not want their plans leaked in advance.

Yes, I’m sure that’s a large part of it. But it really says something when nations like Egypt have no fear of acting across borders without consulting with (what was once) the most powerful and respected nation on the planet.

We look at this now and (rightfully) say “Hey! Good for el-Sisi! It’s great that he’s not afraid to take action.” And, that’s because we believe he’s doing what’s right for his country, and for the people in Libya, too. But we won’t be singing the same tune when every tin-pot dictator decides to march into neighboring countries, and the entire world erupts into chaos. I feel that’s what’s coming, and sooner, rather than later. At least until some other power steps in to fill the vacuum Obama has created.

“United Nations and Western powers are seeking to broker a peaceful resolution.” Right back to that ‘we ain’t all that serious’ internationalist eunuch diplomacy again. Here we have a huge band of people (and I use the term loosely) beheading men, women and children, crucifying Christians of all ages and genders, shooting/burning/stabbing/clubbing civilians for whatever indefensible reasons and these stuffed-shirt UN part-time fools and full-time thieves want to negotiate? The diplomatic version of snake handlers except real snake handlers do it to prove their faith. If the US and Britain are turned loose on ISIS for a few days the feckless UN can negotiate with whatever few functional body parts they can find. It may not be the best diplomatic solution but sure beats the pothers I’ve heard. Remember: you cannot make people love you no matter how hard you try – BUT you can make them fear you with relatively little effort.

My wife says I sounded too much like Ross Perot, I should have said ‘you cannot FORCE people to love you’. I don’t think in this case it matters as ISIS isn’t going to the prom with us regardless of how nicely you ask.

      • For a short time, very short, I kinda liker Ross! I could just imagine him storming around the Oval Office squeaking,”Veto! Veto! We can’t afford that! Veto! Veto!”

He was a business man that knew money was earned, not stolen from someone else’s pockets, he knew that the best way to experience the true benefits of being an America was to be able to get up in the morning and GO TO WORK, an dthere was that little deal of his hiring Bull Simons, paying for it out of his own pocket, to go into Iran and rescue his employees who’d been trapped there after Carter screwed the US rescue mission so badly. Than he started acting a bit like that odd Uncle that everyone told you to stay away from at the family picnic. Perhaps the last honest and acceptable candidate for the presidency, and one who didn’t need the money.

Obama’s opinions only matter to the muslim brotherhood. He has lost respect all over the worlds. Way to go el-sisi. Remember he didn’ let Obama but in with what he was doing to help Israel either.

BTW, inset picture reminded me that Dumb and Dumber To is due out in November (is that a propitious date or what?). This isn’t a promo for it, is it?

ZeroHedge has a similar article posted w/ some different viewpoints and information.
“Monday, the government said unknown fighter jets had bombed positions from armed factions in Tripoli, an attack claimed by a renegade general in Benghazi.”

“Turns out the renegade general was lying, and merely trying to take credit for another party’s intervention.”

If all the horrible news in the world today has you a little bit down, read the comments. 🙂

  9. Blacque Jacques Shellacque says:

Assuming Obama would eventually decide to pursue the same course of action, it makes no sense to wait for him to finally decide (assuming, again, that he’s the actual decision-maker) to go ahead, because by then, initiative, precious time, and territory would be lost.

  10. wasntme says:

Appears some of our “allies” don’t trust the US anymore. Could it be because there are muslim brotherhood members in obomba’s administration? Or could it be that they know there is no point in talking to obomba because they know he’s probably lying anyway?

  11. DG IN GA says:

Wait a minute: Didn’t Obama release the Bergdahl Seven into the custody of Qatar? Was that so they could hook up with ISIS there? Nice work, O’Dummy.

Helping the Bloods, because they’re fighting the Crips… and punishing the shopkeepers…. all in the interest of “fighting crime” sounds a bit misguided to me.
