This question highlights the actual substance of the policy issue.
Who would be the best broker, considering each side’s position, for peace?
Obamael-sisi 2

USA’s Obama/Kerry, or Egypt’s Abdel Fattah el-Sisi ?

Now here’s where you begin to understand the “new normal”.
Traditionally you would expect Netanyahu (Israel) to want Team Obama.   However, Team Obama stated last month they would support a Hamas-Fatah representative government, even though Hamas is directly a terrorist organization.

Team Egypt will NOT support a Hamas-Fatah representative government specifically because Hamas is an ideological compatriot of The Muslim Brotherhood – another terrorist organization.
So, in a generally predictive sense, Hamas, the terrorists within the equation, would probably be more comfortable with Team Obama.
Conversely, Israel, understanding the terrorists in the equation, would probably be more comfortable with Team el-Sisi.
LET THAT SINK IN for a minute…..
….. and now you know why it’s such a strange new ideological world.   If you really absorb the reality of it, you begin to recognize that President Obama is even more anti-Israel than President Carter ever was.   And that’s really saying something.

My guesstimate is that Egypt will indeed broker a ceasefire.   And, unfortunately, as we know history has a tendency to repeat, el-Sisi will be threatened by increasing terrorist attacks against him as Hamas will work diligently -using the Brotherhood alliance- to try and kill the peacemaker.

Assassination attempts against Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi are going to increase exponentially because not only is el-Sisi the peacemaker, he’s also the most predisposed to secular freedom.  Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood can’t have any of that.
Pray for el-Sisi.
