Sunday Open Thread – February 24th

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

This is going around facebook right now…i love the way he explains it.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”.. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A…. (substituting grades for dollars – something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that. (Please pass this on) These are possibly the 5 best sentences you’ll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

    1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

    2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

    3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

    4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

    5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Can you think of a reason for not sharing this?
    Neither could I.

From all I have heard about this movie, I certainly wouldn’t pay to see it, and probably won’t see it at all. Progs just can’t resist changing the facts to suit their agenda. It’s just a more subtle version of the kind of crap that Stone produces.

From the AT article: “Some of us was in the 2nd Kansas Colored. We fought the Rebs
at Jenkins Ferry last April just after they killed every Negro they captured at Poison Springs. So at Jenkins Ferry we decided we weren’t taking no Reb prisoners, and we didn’t leave a one of them alive.”

Good grief! A couple of points: First, the whole Red River Campaign (1864) was a cotton theft mission. General U.S. Grant tried to tell them not to do it. Second, at Poison Spring – it was a rout, not a massacre of black troops just because they were black. U.S. Captain Williams positioned the Kansas colored troops (mostly the 1st Kansas CT, not the 2nd) to take, and bear, the brunt of the fighting. The U.S. Troops were far outnumbered.

There were Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and Choctaw troops fighting for the Confederacy at Poison Spring. The Texas 29th Cavalry and the Choctaw Brigade, both fighting at Poison Spring, did have some scores to settle with the 1st Kansas Colored, but it wasn’t because they were black. it was because of what happened at Honey Springs when the 1st Kansas colored troops whipped them at Honey Springs in Indian Territory during July 1863. The 1st Kansas killed and wounded many of their unit and captured the colors of the Texas 29th; and the Choctaw children, women, and elderly had to flee to NE Texas for the remainder of the war.

Likewise, when the Kansas colored troops met the Confederate troops at Jenkins Ferry, they were looking for some payback for having been routed at Poison Spring. The same things went on between white troops.

Please excuse me for going on here, I just get so tired of history being perverted to suit some agenda.

Feel free to “go on” any time it’s in the interest of straightening out perverted history. Seriously….. Those perversions have been happening all over the place for a very long time, and for whatever reason, we got into the habit back in the 40’s, of trusting something just because it was in print (or in a film). So do go on! And on. 😉

    👿 SPIT

Why aren’t they warning caucasians about roving gangs of blacks attacking them via the “knockout game” etc.?

Meanwhile we have a little 9 year old boy who commited suicide because he was bullied by asian students.

9-year-old boy commits suicide after racial bullying…

And this story, which doesn’t mention race, which is a sure fire indicator of the stabber’s race.
13-year-old girl charged with stabbing boy over bag of potato chips…

We are *so* screwed, folks. I’ve said it for years, now it’s coming to fruition….

PC will be the death of caucasians, except for the insufferable filthy prog politicians who’ll retreat behind the safety of their moats and pull up the drawbridges, where they’ll sit and congratulate themselves for being so “fair”.

A pox on them all, to their children and their children’s children. Yeah, some may think that’s harsh and “not fair”.

Ask me if I care anymore about “fair”. The progs have made that word as filthy and obscene as they are.

20 Of The Most Embarrassing Moments In The History Of The Democrat Party

FTA: “For example, one will virtually never hear that the Palmer Raids, Prohibition, or American eugenics were thoroughly progressive phenomena. These are sins America itself must atone for. Meanwhile, real or alleged “conservative” misdeeds — say McCarthyism — are always the exclusive fault of conservatives and a sign of the policies they would repeat if given power.”

As they said at, “Print or memorize and use to set lib hair on fire. “

    • Sharon says:

I printed that off….got a couple of family members who will make very good use of those specifics. Thank you.

We all “know it in our bones” but in order to shut ’em up and move ’em out, specific info is important. And, we are finding, the specifics are very important for our grandchildren. With late teens-early 20s young people, “old people” just saying stuff sounds just like “old people saying stuff”….and if we can be specific, let a quiet moment hang there, and then say, “That actually is exactly what happened. Look it up.” Then it’s up to them to process…. thank you for that great link, stellap.

    Y’all see this gem??

“..Natalie Jackson, a Sanford native who also is an attorney for Martin’s parents, said the city is slowly reaching a point of reconciliation.

“There’s something good that’s coming out of this, and that’s going to be the understanding,” she said.”

    • The understanding of “what”?

    • Sharon says:

What are the two points of view/whatever that are being reconciled? What assumptions is she imposing on her gloriously delivered declaration of reconciliation? Who has been reconciled? To what have they been reconciled? To whom have they been reconciled?

      Inquiring minds want to know.

Perhaps Attorney Jackson could provide some detail????????????????
