Thursday Open Thread – May 3rd

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

      It is an excellent analysis. One small quibble is about who actually beat up a homeless black man. In the comment section, I sent a correction.

      Truth is not an option. Not when there’s money to be made or a cause to be perpetrated on the people.

      What amazes me is that these folks can get something going in such a rapid fashion. They can create something out of nothing in a heartbeat. Those of us on this side can accept that such a tragedy happens and move on. The libtards can amass hundreds or thousands of people in short order and then play their game with the compliant media. Viola, a crisis is created. I guess it’s easier to do when your peeps don’t really have jobs and need something to do. 👿

      Excellent article. The only thing that was missing was the fact that the Gov., out of fear of riots in his state no doubt, removed the original prosecutor, and appointed a SP Angela Corey, who bought right into the false media meme, starting with a PCA that only inflamed the racial divide even further. The use of the word “profiling,” as well as stating as fact that GZ continued to follow Martin when told not to, and then naming GZ the aggressor who attacked Martin, with no proof provided, was reprehensible. Not including a peep in support of the defense was disgusting. The original Judge who issued the arrest warrant, based on a severly lacking PCA, but chose to rubber stamp the case into the legal system, should be required to explain his position. Dershowitz said he has worked on cases in Fla., and was well aware of the corruption in the legal system there.

    Obama’s Chicago politics….

    “..”If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said during the 2008 cycle. That sounds like something you might hear from a community organizer. Or a Chicago pol.”

    I’m back from Chi-town and starting on the month’s worth of catch-up! I see we had some drama while I was away. . . this is what always happens– I step out for a few days and all the excitement happens while I’m away.

    Anyway, I am glad to be back, and will be catching up with work and the Treehouse as quickly as I can!

    Sharpton Annual Conference Again Heavily Corporate-Funded
    Whatever else might be said of Reverend Al Sharpton, when he throws a party, he does it in style. The 14th annual conference of his New York-based nonprofit National Action Network (NAN) last month in Washington, D.C. during April 11-14 was no exception. Once more, corporations and to a lesser extent unions paid most of the tab for a well-choreographed event that featured dozens of speakers and panelists eager to affirm the aggressive black identity politics of their host. The plenary address by Attorney General Eric Holder, followed by a panel on legal issues, amounted to a group manifesto for the arrest of George Zimmerman for the highly-publicized killing – evidence points toward self-defense – of a black Florida teen, Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman, to the delight of virtually all attendees, was arrested that day on a state second-degree murder charge.
    -snip-
    No company wants to be stigmatized as “racist.” Donating to Sharpton amounts to a payoff – a civil rights tax, if one will. He’s even willing to accept public criticism from his donors so long as they keep NAN coffers filled. He noted the irony in an interview with the Washington Post during this April’s confab: “They bash me at Fox News. But they sponsor my conferences.” His comment was accurate. Fox News’ parent company, The News Corporation, is listed in the program as a sponsor.

      Kind of reminds me of legalized protection money. I think La Cosa Nostra had nothing on these characters. The Mobs are their enforcers. Sharpton/Jackson the Lt’s and at the top Don Obama . Crump the Consigliere. Making offers they can’t refuse.

    Here is my internet funny for the day? “Wish you could take it back”

    This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days
    and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will,
    in the future, likely think before she speaks. What happens
    when you predict snow but don’t get any! We had a
    female news anchor that, the day after it was supposed
    to have snowed and didn’t, turned to the weatherman
    and asked:
    ‘So Bob, where’s that 8 inches you
    promised me last night?’
    Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew
    did too they were laughing so hard

        I found this old one cleanin’ out the email….
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        In Texas , half way between Austin and San Antonio, there is a town called New Braunfels where there is a large German-speaking population.
        One day, a local rancher driving down a country road noticed a man using his hand to drink water from the rancher’s stock pond. The rancher rolled down the window and shouted: “Sehr angenehm! Trink das wasser nicht. Die kuhen haben dahin gesheissen.” Which means: (“Glad to meet you! Don’t drink the water. The cows have shit in it.”)
        The man shouted back: “I’m from New York and just down here campaigning for Obama’s health care plan. I can’t understand you. Please speak in English.”
        The rancher replied: “Use both hands. You’ll get more.”
  11. Interesting backstory on Drudge from the Treehouse Archives.
    I was doing some digging last night, and found this conversation between Dagny and Finch on the HoneyTrail:
    Dec 7, 2010
    IAmDagny: Why has Drudge not had a single mention of or link to Pigford? Are Drudge and Breitbart enemies? Odd.
    AFinch: I don’t think so. I thought Breitbart was one of the people that got Drudge’s site up and running many years ago. That is curious though.
    Funny how people were noticing that Drudge and Breitbart were at war almost 2 years ago. It took Breitbart’s death and Drudge’s overt shilling for Romney this year to bring it out into the open. Breitbart actually wondered quietly if Drudge wasn’t somehow in the tank for Obama. Is he? What more will we find out by this time next year?
      It is getting to the point where it would be cheaper to buy new clothes wherever you are going than to take any baggage on a plane. What company was it that began to offer luggage shipping boxes? Seriously, just ship your stuff by ground, it probably is more likely to get there. ;-0
    Doctors vs. Guns
    Doctors:
    The number of physicians in the U.S. in 1995 was roughly 625,000
    The number of deaths induced inadvertently by a physician or surgeon or by medical treatment or diagnostic procedures in the US annually is 784,000
    Resulting estimate of inadvertant deaths per physician per year is 1.25. That means the average doctor will accidentally kill roughly 1.25 people each year.
    Guns:
    The percent of Americans with a gun in their home in 1995 was estimated to be 35%. Of 263 million people in 1995, that makes 92 million with a firearm at home. It is not certain how accurate this figure really is.
    In 1995, the number of total firearm-related deaths was 36,000.
    The number of deaths per person with a gun at home (accidental or otherwise) is then 0.000391. Though just because you live in a house with a gun deos not mean you are its owner.
    As the joke goes, the semi-logical conclusion would be:
    Statistically, “doctors” are approximately 3,000 times more dangerous than “gun owners”.
    Remember, “Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.”
    FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor.
      In reading the figures for the doctors, I began think that there are some doctors who would not be the cause of death at any time so that would change the ratio by a bit. Then, my next thought was that I want to know who those other doctors are because I want to stay very far away from them as potential patient. Yep, the idea of a bad doctor really does scare me more than being in a home that may have a gun.
We would encourage you to prepare your material in article form with footnotes, citations and links such as you see in the Travon Updates and submit it to TheLastRefuge@reagan.com to be considered for publication.
