CYA : Legacy Media Legal Depts. Continue Preparing their Deniability and Risk Management

Via Treeper Tip Line – Another example of the media being caught in the web of their deceptive practices.   Another NBC correspondent fired in their efforts to avoid responsibility for any civil actions.   Covering their A$$.

(Via Media Bistro) Lilia Luciano, a Miami-based NBC News correspondent, is no longer working for the network, TVNewser has learned.

Luciano last reported for NBC News March 31. Until that point, she had been reporting mainly on the Trayvon Martin story. Sources tell TVNewser Luciano’s dismissal came after an investigation which also led to the firing of a seasoned NBC News producer over a similar, misleading edit. In a story for the “Today” show on March 20, Luciano used part of the George Zimmerman 911 call in which an entire phrase (italicized below) was taken from a later part of the conversation:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good or on drugs or something. He’s got his hand in his waistband. And he’s a black male. Dispatcher: Are you following him? Zimmerman: Yeah. Dispatcher: Okay, we don’t need you to do that.

A week later, on March 27, another correspondent, Ron Allen used similar audio from that 911 call in his story, leaving out the dispatcher’s follow-up question.

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.

As we’ve reported, here’s how the conversation actually happened:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about. Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he white, black, or Hispanic? Zimmerman: He looks black.

That edit resulted in the dismissal of the NBC News Miami producer. NBC News confirms with TVNewser that Luciano is no longer with the network. She joined NBC News from Univision just 18 months ago.

Luciano is the third NBC employee to have lost their job over this story. As TVSpy reported last week, WTVJ reporter Jeff Burnside was fired for a similar circumstance.

I applaud NBC for letting go an obvious mistake. She deserved the boot. Now, about the apology owed Zimmerman….

    • Jaded says:

How sad, Lilia Luciano is Al Sharptongue’s friend from the infamous “I.T. and skillets” video.

  2. John Galt says:

Pretty harsh over there at NBC to have fired three employees over “inadvertent” tape editing. LOL

  3. ytz4mee says:

Beat me to it! Want to know why Matt Gutman over at ABC, who has been hip deep in this, is still employed. The deliberately misleading leaked video tape from the police station also did great damage in promoting the idea that Zimmerman had no injuries, and there was no struggle. Many people STILL believe that.

    • minpin says:

That is exactly my question ytz. Matt Gutless was the one with all of the exclusives. Other networks picked up his false reporting, and ran with it. Yet the Gutless wonder still lives and thrives.

      • ytz4mee says:

People need to put pressure – calling and tweeting ABC and ask them. Silence is assent. I have been doing so relentlessly.

  4. zauber says:

They were just editing out the unimportant bits so that the stuuuuuupid public would understand what was really really really happening here. Geez, do we have to edit the unimportant bits out this blog so that y’all can get what’s really really really important here?

  5. Dan says:

NBC, instigating one race war at a time.

    • Dan says:

There have already been a half dozen unprovoked attacks in the name of “justice for Trayvon”. There will be many more.

      • A friend on another site has counted **TWENTY THREE** – and those are just the ones he’s been able to FIND!

Given the near-total-blackout, it appears that there’s an embargo on such stories, so they’re usually only discussed locally or by “independent” outlets!

  6. James Crawford says:

Obviously the network is begging to consider the possibile lawsuits that will result if their fraudulent reporting succeeds in inciting riots. Given Team Skittles threats of insurrection, this is a foreseeable consequence. It is reminiscent of how the abbreviated version of the Rodney King beating the excluded video of Kings aggressive behavior and the failure of a Taser to subdue him primed the keg for the LA riots.

Perhaps if the carnage is too severe, Crump will get the death penalty?

    • zauber says:

I think it’s more to the idea that the liars were clumsy enough to get caught – their being fired was a warning to others to be more circumspect in their creating news out of whole cloth. They’re lucky though, Goebbels would have had them shot.

  7. M Simon says:

The “Race War” is coming. From the comments at:

i was out in my front yard, shortly after having moved into a ‘racially-mixed’ neighborhood when a little black boy, maybe six-years-old, walked up to me and announced that “my mommy says that you’re the devil.” shocked, i made some feeble attempt, through my nervous laughter, to persuade him that i was actually a nice guy but he walked away still convinced of the truth of what he had been taught at home.

Louis Farrakhan at work (and he has done his work well) IMO.

    • justice099 says:

“On March 24-25, a string of attacks in Grand Rapids, Mich., by mobs of black youths injured seven whites in separate incidents. Five of the injured filed police reports. Examiner reporter Kyle Rogers interviewed one of the victims, Jacob Palasek, who had been beaten with a chain. Palasek stated that police investigators feel that all the attacks were related to the Trayvon Martin story. Local news media stand accused of burying the story to keep racial tensions from rising to a boiling point.”

This is MY hometown. Pretty sad when I have to hear about it on PJ Media instead of the local media. Never even knew about this until now.

      • tnwahm says:

Waving to another Michigander. I am originally from the area. Most of my extended family still lives in the area. I was shocked the last time I was up there at what had happened to GR. GR has always been a favorite place of mine. I want a Purple Cow.

        • justice099 says:

I have not been too fond of it lately. High-paying job in a dying field is keeping me here, unfortunately.

I noticed the location of that incident was actually less than a mile from where I live as well. If I had been awake, I probably would have heard it even.

    • Louis Farrakhan and Obama’s “pastor” of more than 20 years are “best friends forever” (BFF).

Obama’s “pastor” of more than 20 years:

      1) Wants God to Damn America

      2) Recognized Louis Farrakhan with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”

      3) Co-authored a book praising Louis Farrakhan’s “Million Man March”

      4) Published pro-Palestinian articles in the church’s newsletter. (see “Open Letter to Oprah from Ali Baghdadi on Her Visit to Palestine”, published on the “Pastor’s Pages” here)

      5) Didn’t appear to shed a tear when talking about his murdered choir director (and Obama associate) Donald Young. Donald Young may have been one of Obama’s sexual partners.
