The driver who intentionally drove into a crowd on the Las Vegas strip has been identified as Lakeisha Holloway, age 24.  However, local law enforcement are “uncomfortable” discussing the motive of the attacker.  She has been charged with murder.

There’s a brief profile from Lakeisha available here from April 2012 when she was given an community award in Portland Oregon –   Portland Opportunities Industrial Center (POIC) event April 2012:

[…]  Two students received CARE Role Model awards and both were given standing ovations by a crowd that clearly appreciated how hard they had worked to surmount their challenges.

Lakeisha Holloway described being homeless during her freshman year in high school and explained that her mother had lost hope after struggling many years to earn a living with only an 8th Grade education. More and more she had turned to alcohol, leaving Lakeisha to fend for herself. Yet with the help of POIC, Holloway is a graduate pursuing a career in the forest service.

“I would like to thank the Forest Service for sending me an application and taking a chance on me,” she said. “And I’d like to thank POIC for the love and support and for being more than a program, for being a blessing.”  (link)

The media, via local LEO briefing, are reporting that Lakeisha Holloway was living “out of her car” while in Las Vegas for approximately a week.  She had a 3-year-old toddler with her at the time she decided to attack the crowd.  It appears she moved/traveled recently from Portland Oregon.

The motive for the attack remains “sketchy”, as police describe her initial statements (without specificity), and also describe their reluctance to outline those initial comments as “uncomfortable” for them.

Odd.  Will we discover more?
