An eye witness to the shooting told investigators that a black male wearing a ski mask walked out of the woods straight to the front of the deputy’s Tahoe SUV and fired three shots with a silver revolver. When the suspect walked toward another SUV in the parking lot with his gun aimed at the driver, the witness turned and fled.
The driver of the second SUV told investigators the suspect ordered him out of his vehicle and he complied. The suspect then drove away in the2003 Hyundai Sante Fe, which was found later.

A surveillance camera at the convenience store/gas station captured the carjacking but there is no mention of a video of the shooting.
“The video shows a person wearing a white long sleeved shirt and dark colored pants carrying a red bag in his left hand. It appears the suspect was wearing something black on his head,” the incident report states.
Lt. Will Rogers, who was shot in the head, was lying on the ground and conscious when the first police officer arrived on scene. He told the officer he did not know what happened and was not aware that he was shot. Rogers was airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina where he continues to be treated. (read more)
