Update:  The social media photo posted throughout the blogosphere was not confirmed as the deceased Michael Brown and has been replaced. -ytz
Just as the Trayvon Martin narrative unfolded, as independent bloggers and researchers enthusiastically scour social media a truer, more complete picture of Michael Brown emerges as Sharpton remains on site in an attempt to manage and direct the “narrative”.
Although earning praise from local authorities for his “official” calls for “peace”, Sharpton’s ability to manage the narrative has been called into question by by black and white observers keeping tabs on the ever evolving and fluid situation from outside of the area of conflict.

Activists and the family of Michael Brown continue to press for the release of the name of the Officer who fired the shots that killed Brown.  The police and the county prosecutor have refused to do so, stating that it is not policy to release the name of any suspected or accused until they have been formally charged.  In keeping with this stated policy, the names of suspected looters were not named until they were formally charged and booked, and their names and booking photos were released to the public, a decision that has angered black activists.
County prosecutor McCulloch stated today that investigators are still collecting evidence, and are refusing to release any details in order to more properly gauge the credibility of any witnesses and/or their evidence.  He also stated that this matter supported by all evidence compiled by the investigators will be referred to a Grand Jury.
Police Chief Jackson has stated that the department is getting flak not for their response to the protests, but because the majority of citizens calling feel the police are not doing enough to rebuke the protestors and stop the violence, returning order to the community.
“…The latest unrest came hours after St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch said details about the Brown shooting would not be released any time soon.
“We are still in the information-gathering part of the investigation,” McCulloch said in a televised news conference.
He urged anyone with information to come forward and promised that every piece of evidence would be reviewed, presented to a grand jury and eventually made public.”
