Benghazi – Cutting Through The Smoke … And Understanding Why John McCain Is Covering For The President….

The recent revelations by CNN’s Jake Tapper about the actual players from the U.S. in the annex, along with their unexpressed intents and purposes, brings a particular clarity to events.

For the sake of intellectual absorption this event outline is essentially going to be comprised of separate articles which we have compiled, along with our own research, over the past 10+ months. It begins with understanding the relationship between Turkish President Erdogan and President Obama against the Syrian uprising.

Many articles have drawn the connection between our activity in Benghazi and the potential for arms shipments to Syrian *rebels* back in 2012.  Indeed, even some Senators have called attention therein.   But the recent outline by Jack Tapper solidifies some of what was only formerly supposition.   So let’s take the new information and cast it back against the prior considerations.

Back in 2012 we highlighted the following:  [...] it is important to remember how close President Obama is to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan is a severe islamist and both Obama and Erdogan are very friendly.

What Clare Lopez outlines in this 2012 report is extremely alarming to consider, given the nature of President Obama and Erdogan’s personal friendship and given the nature of Turkey’s involvement with the Syrian uprising.

(By Clare Lopez) If reporting from the Washington Times is accurate, it looks like the Turkish Consul General Ali Sait Akin was in on the plot to attack the U.S. mission in Benghazi. According to an October 27, 2012 report, Libyan witnesses from the Benghazi neighborhood where the U.S. compound was located told reporters from the Associated Press (AP) that “150 bearded gunmen, some wearing the Afghan-style tunics favored by Islamic militants began sealing off the streets” leading to the facility “around nightfall.”

The Department of State “Background Briefing on Libya,” provided by telephone to reporters on October 9, 2012 states that Ambassador Christopher Stevens held his last meeting of the day on September 11 with the Turkish diplomat from 7:30pm to 8:30pm and then escorted him out to the compound gate to bid farewell. At that point, the briefing states, “Everything is calm at 8:30 p.m. There’s nothing unusual.”

But the AP witnesses said that, “The neighbors all described the militants setting up checkpoints around the compound at about 8 p.m.” The checkpoints were described as being manned by bearded jihadis in pickup trucks mounted with heavy machine guns and bearing the logo of the Al-Qaeda terror franchise, Ansar al-Shariah.

That means that the Turkish Consul General would have had to pass out through the blockade as he departed the American compound and left the area. There is no record that he phoned a warning to his American colleague, the one he’d just had dinner with, Ambassador Stevens. Given the description of the blockade around the American compound and of the jihadis and their trucks that were manning it, it seems unlikely that the he somehow just failed to notice. “[N]o one could get out or in,” according to one neighbor interviewed by the AP.

Except for the Turkish Consul General, it would appear.

Stevens was a sitting duck, a target surrounded by the jihadist attackers who shortly would take his life and that of his Public Affairs Officer, Sean Smith.

Similarly, this raises the question of the Libyan gate guards from the “February 17 Martyrs Brigade,” the jihadi militia subcontracted by the British firm Blue Mountain, which was the prime contractor for the U.S. Benghazi compound security contract.

What did they know and when did they know it? Even if the Americans, inside the buildings behind the compound walls and getting ready to retire for the night, were not aware of what was happening in the streets around them, the Libyans of the Martyrs Brigade surely must have been.

Yet they provided no warning to the Ambassador and his people either, because again, according to the State Department briefing, the American security officers inside were taken by surprise when the first gunshots and explosions rang out around 9:40 pm.

The State Department must have known much of this when it provided the briefing. So must have the Central Intelligence Agency, the Department of Defense, the National Security Council and the White House. More than likely, the State Department knew in advance of the Ambassador’s meeting schedule for that day, including his plans for a final dinner meeting with Akin.

To date, however, none of them has mentioned the curious circumstance that Ali Sait Akin knew the American Ambassador and his staff at the Benghazi compound were being set up for slaughter and did nothing to warn them.

The topic of discussion between the Ambassador and his dinner guest has not been revealed, but it would seem to be of even more significance now that it has become obvious the Turkish diplomat and by extension, his government, were at least to some degree complicit in the attack against Ambassador Stevens and the others. It is worth noting in this article the assumption was that Turkey had some structural complicities with the attack.    Remove that aspect from the equation and just accept that Turkish diplomats were at the consulate compound for some reason.   Perhaps for operational discussions about facilitating weapons shipments via ship bound transport.

Now take the recent article from CNN’s Jack Trapper:    CNN has uncovered exclusive new information about what is allegedly happening at the CIA, in the wake of the deadly Benghazi terror attack.

Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed in the assault by armed militants last September 11 in eastern Libya.

Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret.   CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency’s Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out.

Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency’s missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency’s workings.

The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress.

It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career.

In exclusive communications obtained by CNN, one insider writes, “You don’t jeopardize yourself, you jeopardize your family as well.”

Another says, “You have no idea the amount of pressure being brought to bear on anyone with knowledge of this operation.”

“Agency employees typically are polygraphed every three to four years. Never more than that,” said former CIA operative and CNN analyst Robert Baer.

In other words, the rate of the kind of polygraphs alleged by sources is rare.

“If somebody is being polygraphed every month, or every two months it’s called an issue polygraph, and that means that the polygraph division suspects something, or they’re looking for something, or they’re on a fishing expedition. But it’s absolutely not routine at all to be polygraphed monthly, or bi-monthly,” said Baer.

CIA spokesman Dean Boyd asserted in a statement that the agency has been open with Congress.

“The CIA has worked closely with its oversight committees to provide them with an extraordinary amount of information related to the attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi,” the statement said.

“CIA employees are always free to speak to Congress if they want,” the statement continued. “The CIA enabled all officers involved in Benghazi the opportunity to meet with Congress. We are not aware of any CIA employee who has experienced retaliation, including any non-routine security procedures, or who has been prevented from sharing a concern with Congress about the Benghazi incident.”

Among the many secrets still yet to be told about the Benghazi mission, is just how many Americans were there the night of the attack.

A source now tells CNN that number was 35, with as many as seven wounded, some seriously.

While it is still not known how many of them were CIA, a source tells CNN that 21 Americans were working in the building known as the annex, believed to be run by the agency.

Annex under construction 6-09

The lack of information and pressure to silence CIA operatives is disturbing to U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, whose district includes CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

“I think it is a form of a cover-up, and I think it’s an attempt to push it under the rug, and I think the American people are feeling the same way,” said the Republican.

“We should have the people who were on the scene come in, testify under oath, do it publicly, and lay it out. And there really isn’t any national security issue involved with regards to that,” he said.

Wolf has repeatedly gone to the House floor, asking for a select committee to be set up, a Watergate-style probe involving several intelligence committee investigators assigned to get to the bottom of the failures that took place in Benghazi, and find out just what the State Department and CIA were doing there.  [...]  In the aftermath of the attack, Wolf said he was contacted by people closely tied with CIA operatives and contractors who wanted to talk.

Then suddenly, there was silence.

“Initially they were not afraid to come forward. They wanted the opportunity, and they wanted to be subpoenaed, because if you’re subpoenaed, it sort of protects you, you’re forced to come before Congress. Now that’s all changed,” said Wolf.

Lawmakers also want to about know the weapons in Libya, and what happened to them.

Speculation on Capitol Hill has included the possibility the U.S. agencies operating in Benghazi were secretly helping to move surface-to-air missiles out of Libya, through Turkey, and into the hands of Syrian rebels.

It is clear that two U.S. agencies were operating in Benghazi, one was the State Department, and the other was the CIA.

The State Department told CNN in an e-mail that it was only helping the new Libyan government destroy weapons deemed “damaged, aged or too unsafe retain,” and that it was not involved in any transfer of weapons to other countries.

But the State Department also clearly told CNN, they “can’t speak for any other agencies.”  The CIA would not comment on whether it was involved in the transfer of any weapons. (link)

Then attach this further outline from Gateway Pundit into the narrative:   Dr. Mark Christian from the Global Faith Institute sent The Gateway Pundit his account of the Benghazi attack on September 11, 2012 – Mark was groomed from boyhood to become an influential leader of the Muslim faith. He later converted to Christianity and moved to America. Mark now hopes to educate a sleeping American public to the actuality of Islamic intention in this country.

Syrian president Bashar el Assad, Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah of Lebanon are fully responsible for the death of United States Ambassador Christopher Stevens. President Obama has known this fact since the minute he first learned about the attack.

Stevens, from his Benghazi base, was stockpiling weapons – and resourcing the expert fighters who could use them – to topple Assad’s rule in Syria. On September 11, 2012, Assad powerfully punched back, raiding the Benghazi compound which housed the armament for his own destruction. Though Assad’s reprisal resulted in the loss of four American lives, including Stevens, he forcefully conveyed that he would not be thrown out of the ring.

The Syrian uprising is not a simple “the good guys vs. the bad guys” action-packed conflict. While there is plenty of action, there are no good guys. There are, however, two opponents who have been duking it out for hundreds of years, the Sunnis and the Shiites.

In the Sunni corner, we have U.S. President Barack Obama, championed primarily by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt. Their combatants, the Shiites, include Syria, Iran, and Hezbollah – the Lebanese militia controlled by Iran and Syria.

Under President Barack Obama’s direction in the 2011 Arab Spring, the Sunnis had already ousted evil dictators from countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya. It appeared to be pro-democracy freedom-fighting at its finest. It wasn’t. The overthrown governments were quickly replaced with Muslim-Brotherhood-aligned, Sunni Islamic theocracies. And the next country on the list for overthrow was Syria. But unlike the easier targets of Mubarek, Ben Ali, and Gaddafi, Shiite Syrian leader Bashar Assad has the powerful allies of Iran, Hezbollah, and Russia.

The Assad regime was fully aware of the shrouded activity in Benghazi, fully aware that Ambassador Christopher Stevens, the man credited for the assassination of Gaddafi, was much more than an ambassador. Though serving in Tripoli as the U.S. Ambassador to transition a tribal Libya to Sunni Islamic rule, Stevens covertly used Benghazi as his base of operation for the next phase of Arab Spring: overthrowing Assad in Syria. From his Benghazi compound Stevens stored and supplied weapons for thousands of hired, rebel fighters – many of which were al-Qaeda – headed to Syria.

In August, 2012, team Sunni provoked team Shiite on their home turf in Tehran at the Non-Alignment Movement Summit. After making several diplomatic attempts to end the illicit smuggling of guns and gunners by Obama and the Sunnis into Syria, Iran became insulted when Egyptian President Morsi demanded removal of Syrian President Assad.

Following this ultimatum, Morsi arrogantly snubbed the fundamental Shiite beliefs held by Iranian President Ahmadinejad and spiritual leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. This was the last straw.

The threatened Shiites forcefully and strategically retaliated by attacking the Benghazi compound.

Why?

They were seeking to expose the Sunni agenda of President Barack Obama to the American electorate during Obama’s re-election campaign, Iran was confident that this bold retribution would prevent Obama’s second presidential term, and squash the Sunni initiative in Syria.

On the morning of September 11, 2012, Christopher Stevens and his aide, Sean Smith, were meeting at the Benghazi headquarters with Turkish Consul General, Ali Sait Akin, and his associates.

Turkey was the staging ground through which the Syria-bound guns and rebels were smuggled. Thirty-four additional Syrian opposition supporters were also in attendance. Shortly after Mr. Akin & Co. made a substantial “financial contribution” and left, the compound was struck by a highly-organized assault by Hezbollah fighters. The eyes of the Middle East, as well as any online observer of Libyan and Middle Eastern press, watched the brazen attack on Benghazi…

…If Americans knew what really happened, if the mainstream media uncovered and exposed Obama and his Sunni agenda, Obama would not be the current American president, but a prosecuted American citizen.

If his orchestration and support of Arab Spring, including Syria, was revealed, President Obama, who has hidden much more than Benghazi from the American people, would finally be held accountable for his actions.

If it became public knowledge that – while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was ignoring the body of her American Ambassador Christopher Stevens, she was ordering that all of Stevens’ classified information in Tripoli be destroyed – then Ms. Clinton’s presidential aspirations might be imprisoned. And the families of Stevens, Smith, Woods, and Doherty would definitively know what difference it does make when the daylight of truth shines on the darkness of night.

Eye-witnesses, including the thirty-four various nationals who participated in Stevens’ meeting on the morning of September 11, 2012, could provide testimony exponentially more illuminating than the scripted smoke of the one-day Congressional performance of Benghazi whistle blowers.

However, their interest in exposing the truth, and their whereabouts, is extremely unlikely since they were undoubtedly complicit with the Sunni scheme.

But Benghazi was just the beginning. Assad and his gang continue to target countries supporting the Syrian uprising. Were these attacks just isolated events or part of a coordinated plan?

*On April 15, 2013, two bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon in America.

*Two Iranian-linked terrorists were apprehended just days following the Boston bombing when their plan to derail a Canadian passenger train in Toronto was thwarted.

*A car bomb injured two guards at the French Embassy in Tripoli on April 23, 2013; France financially supported the Syrian opposition.

*British Prime Minister Cameron met with Russian President Putin on May 10, 2013, and with President Obama on May 13, 2013. On May 22, 2013, a British soldier was publically beheaded by terrorists.

*Dozens are killed from a car bomb near the Syrian border in Reyhanli, Turkey on May 11, 2013.

*President Obama and Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan meet on May 16, 2013 followed by violent riots in Istanbul, where bombings as recent as June 5, 2013 have occurred.

As tensions between Israel and Syria intensify, as Syria is purported to have received its first shipment of $300 anti-aircraft missiles from Russia, all the key players are keenly conscious that an attack against Syria, the dominant subject of the upcoming Geneva talks, is an attack against Russia.

The stakes are shockingly high, and there is no indication of either faction, Sunni or Shiite, backing down. Meanwhile, as the controlled and calculated fires of IRS and the Associated Press capture the American attention, keeping them distracted and clueless, a catastrophic wildfire awaits. World War III could readily ignite, and the Benghazi blazes were simply the match.  (link)

The author gets the time of day for the Turkish delegation wrong, but all other aspects align with the prior two reports, and our research.

We also know that on October 25th, a month later, Turkey’s Erdogan met unexpectedly with his nemesis President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran:

“All but unnoticed by the wider world, Turkey’s prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held an unscheduled tête-à-tête last week with the US’s most despised bogeyman, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran.”

“Neither man gave much away after the encounter, but officials said ways of defusing the Syrian crisis were discussed. After a year or more of backing opposing sides, and with a military solution apparently beyond the reach of both Bashar al-Assad’s regime and Free Syrian Army (FSA) rebels, Iran and Turkey have a shared interest in calming things down.”  (link)

So, put it all together and you can see where Shiite Iran and Syria, through Hezbollah, moved on Sunni Turkey and Egypt, by squashing the U.S. aid to the Sunni rebels.   It was strategically in the interests of Assad and Ahmadinejad to attack our U.S. compound thereby stopping the proxy war supply.

Western Media / Libyan Propaganda (Disturbing Video Refutes State Dept)

This is also where Republican John McCain and Democrat President Barack Obama come into synergetic alignment.    McCain being a strong advocate for arming the Sunni rebels, just like Obama, and McCain having just recently left Libya and Ambassador Stephens knowing full well what was taking place.

With the CIA operation now exposed, McCain Inc. would not be one to expose the TRUTH behind the fiasco;  He supported it.   Hence no real substantive action on his part to use his place on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to point the finger at the scheme.  He just couldn’t.

The following video is disturbing, but highlights the propaganda perpetrated by the US State Department – and continuing to be sold by a willing media. Here you see Libyan officials, government officials, showing off the body of Ambassador Christopher Stevens while in the morgue:

Indeed, the US Army’s West Point Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) noted that Benghazi and the neighboring city of Darnah served a disproportionately high role in supplying foreign fighters to wage terror against the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The “Rebels” Hillary Clinton and John McCain were defending were Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) militants, with links directly to Al Qaeda according to West Point reports(.pdf), and still listed to this day by the US StateDepartment, the UKHome Office (.pdf), and the UN as a “foreign terrorist organization.”

Clinton, Power, Obama, McCain et al were not only rhetorically supporting listed terrorists, but calling for material support including weapons, funds, training, and air support in direct violation of USC § 2339A & 2339B, “providing material support or resources to designated foreign terrorist organizations.”

These same terrorists rebels are now not only the defacto rulers of much of Libya, but
are leading death squads in Syria
and arming militants in Mali, an exponential expansion of al-Qaeda influence toward the West and Europe, while surrounding Israel.

Reuters, in their article, “Libyan fighters join Syrian revolt,” reported, that Mahdi al-Harati, “a powerful militia chief from Libya’s western mountains,” who is actually a militant of the US, British, and UN listed terrorist organization Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), “now leads a unit in Syria, made up mainly of Syrians but also including
some foreign fighters, including 20 senior members of his own Libyan rebel unit.”

Reuters would go on to explain, “the Libyans aiding the Syrian rebels include specialists in communications, logistics, humanitarian issues and heavy weapons,” and that they “operate training bases, teaching fitness and battlefield tactics.”

The Turkish Influence - ALARMING REPORT: Turkish Ship Bound For Libya Smuggling Massive Arms...(Via HellasFrappe) According to a report from the Thessaly Journal, the ship “Alexandretta” -which was flying the flag of Saint Vincent- was from Turkey, and although it is registered as a cement bulk cargo ship was in all reality suspiciously transporting a huge quantity of weapons and ammunition. It said that unconfirmed reports also spoke of portable antiaircraft guns and anti-tank missiles, ammunition and infantry weapons such as Kalashnikov guns, etc.

The newspaper noted that the ships contents were bound for Libya, but also said they could have been headed towards Mali (which borders Libya) to arm Islamic rebels fighting there.

Turkish President Erdogan took over the primary gatekeeper spot from Mouamar Kaddafi after the Libyan’s death.    Going back on the timeline on U.S. Benghazi support and weapons shipments for the “Libyan Rebels”, you might remember Turkey being opposed; Not opposed because Erdogan approved of Kaddafi, quite the contrary;  Opposed because they wanted to increase the certainty of an Islamist, not moderate, victory.

This is the same reason Turkey wanted to control the recipients of “any” weapons headed to Syria.

Everything thing is lining up for WW3, or so it seems, not just geo-politically but all aspects. I would like to think that we’d be victorious but our opposition is so ruthless, entrenched and organized; I’m not so sure that we can win if we continue to play nice. There’s no negotiating with these people, and absolutely no acceptable middle ground that I’d feel morally “ok” with.

The commies have made sure, though mass importation of “culture enriching” moon worshipers, that Europe, Russia, Aus, and parts of the US will be drug into the Whahhabi vs followers of Ali battle. Not just being forced onto a side, but mass rioting and fighting on their streets as well.

Not to mention our streets as well. The marxists have done an excellent job positioning themselves, in such a way. as to push things past the brink; i.e. making our country top heavy debt wise (Cloward-Piven strat), arming our enemies, as well as putting them in influential gov positions etc. I was watching Samantha Powers’ confirmation hearing and she sent chills down my spine, not to mention Huma, all of the Czars and so on. It’s enough to make anyone scared.

Sorry, I don’t yet buy into the sunni-shia grand plot (although they do hate one another). The CIA having an annex in Libya isn’t so weird either, given all that was going on there. One could dump all the dots into a bag, and pull out a grand plot for shia or sunni dominance, but you can also connect the dots in other ways. Granted, something is not right. We still need casualty figures from Benghazi hospital for wounded (think of it…20 plus CIA types plus at least 2 seals armed and hunting….you GOTTA have a lotta casualties). Someone tracks ships (Llyods of London). They will give you the track of the Alexandria..If all these surface to air missiles got delivered back in October of last year, how come Assad has so many choppers flying?? Nope. Not all the dots. Good start, though. Presidential question…who DIDN”T give the order to go in and protect the troops…and where was the president that night.

I don’t know who this Mark character is nor do I care, but I find it extremely irresponsible of any who would post this misdirected piece of propaganda at what many have come to respect as a responsible, factually driven conservative blogsite.

Why on earth would Assad supply weapons to the terrorists his army has now been fighting for over two years? Exactly how stupid do American’s think Assad is?

If you’re going to post such nonsense explain how Assad, Putin and Ahmadinejad – two of which are Shi’ites and one rumored to b a Christian Orthodox – arranged for the attack with an extremist hardline Sunni, such as the one who claims leadership of Al-Nusra, in a hostile country ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood to begin with. Once you’re able to explain that then do tell why Assad would have said weapons shipped to his enemy so they could then use them against his own people and military. Honestly!

And when you are done trying to explain that do tell us what kind of drugs you’re on. Seriously. Why would any respectable news medium give any light at all to this article.

Gateway I’d expect it from but not here. What a disappointment.

Earlier in the day Stevens drove to Benghazi with Sean Smith in a nondescript vehicle with essentially no protection. He didn’t travel with the normal operators; it was Sean Smith. Ever wonder why Sean was there? Sean was officially a COMM person, but essentially he was a hacker gaming dude. Ever wonder why Sean was basically doing nothing all day until the SHTF? The first time-dated evidence of the attack in the evening came from Sean who was logged into an online gaming forum. Sean also commented in the chat room earlier in the day about people taking photos of the main compound. Sean was on the forum most of the day. Essentially, Sean was bored out of his mind for the limited time he was alive in Benghazi.

Every hear about the virus attacks that were happening at the Saudi/Libyan oil companies before the Benghazi attacks? It seems someone was attempting to (and did) destroy a lot of records of operations from the inside–the attack software was installed via flash drives within company network. Records were lost, and it significantly affected operations. Ever hear that the code in the attack ware had footprints of US development/involvement? Sean has a potential relation there.

The oil companies provided significant front money to the rebel operation that outed the Libyan government and they wanted their repayment. Stevens also was scheduled to meet with the Libyan oil company (based in Benghazi) within 48 hours of the attack in attempts to get their oil fields back in production. Supposedly, he had some new ideas on how to deal with the striking oil field workers in the area.

There are lots and lots and lots of tangled webs here folks…

Obama can say those things with a straight face because he wants Saudi Arabia to continue to be one of our dominant oil suppliers. The Saudis are worried that they will lose international power and influence if nations, especially the US, become energy independent. That’s why fracking is bad and why Obama won’t okay the XL pipeline. He does not want the US to become energy independent. That’s why he is using the greens to push so-called green energy like solar and wind. That, and the rules and tax credits are being used by some of his cronies and contributors to rake in massive amounts of federal support $$$ for investing in wind and solar that will never make more than a few percent dent in our energy needs. That’s what’s going on.

        Government during revolution

After the defeat of the Continental Army at the Battle of Long Island on August 27, 1776, Admiral Richard, Lord Howe requested the Second Continental Congress send representatives in an attempt to negotiate peace. A delegation including Adams and Benjamin Franklin met with Howe on Staten Island on September 11.[36] Both Howe’s authority and that of the delegation were limited, and they were unable to find common ground.[37] When Lord Howe unhappily stated he could only view the American delegates as British subjects, Adams replied, “Your lordship may consider me in what light you please, [...] except that of a British subject.”[38] Lord Howe then addressed the other delegates, stating, “Mr. Adams appears to be a decided character.”

Adams learned many years later that his name was on a list of people specifically excluded from Howe’s pardon-granting authority.[

(narrative re this episode at Staten Island is available on pp 155-158 of John Adams, David McCullough)

Mr. Adams had a lot at stake as well. Those men made individually courageous decisions. That characteristic in decision-making, going forward, cannot be evaded if America is to survive.

Yes, it does. That’s why I thought it was about kidnapping and hostage exchange last fall. However, there is an element of willful blindness involved too with the State Department’s policy of treating embassies, consulates and missions (what Benghazi was called, a mission) in dangerous parts of the world as though they were in normal places. This normalization involved lack of US security guards, unarmed or no Marines, and relying on a country’s nationals for security. This was wishful thinking at its finest and turned out the way wishful thinking usually turns out.

The lack of security was regarding the State Department’s ‘consulate’. The CIA annex was well protected, no? That’s why I think the roots of this affair lie at a disjunction between the State Department and many CIA operators.

You are probably right about that disjunction. The CIA employees of Clandestine Services and their contractors knew exactly how dangerous the place was. So did the security officers at State. So did the ambassador. The problem was the desk jockeys at Main State in Washington were looking at optics rather than reality. I’m sure Hillary encouraged the wishful thinking since that would have been in line with what her boss wanted.

This analysis by Dr. Mark Christian is absurd. If the Benghazi attack was by Assad supporters, then why would the Turkish diplomat who drove through the blocked street not have warned Stevens? Was he fooled by their appearance and thought if they were Sunni Islamists then he wouldn’t warn Stevens, but if they were Shiites he would have? And Erdogan being an Islamist is absurd as well. These are secular Muslims running Turkey and they have found themselves aligned with Western interests which just happen to be Obama pro-Islamist at this time. The misunderstanding of the Shia-Sunni dynamic is so pervasive. It needs to be fixed before any correct analysis can be possible.

Free at last to espouse and promote his conservative Muslim faith publicly, the prime minister embodies the political aspirations of millions of Turks who have been alienated from the military-backed secular establishment for generations: the rural folk, the urban poor, conservative Muslim clerics, and the rising religiously conservative business classes. While studiously avoiding direct confrontation with Atatürk’s Westernized ideals, Erdogan and other pro-Islamist leaders of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) have inaugurated an era of deep political transformation.

    • J – your post about our kids being educated by an “education” system dedicated to Social Justice reminded me of my first “shock” in my education:
I attended a very conservative, all girl Catholic boarding school where I received a first-rate “classical” education. I found that my first couple of years at a State University amounted to repeats of my Junior/Senior year of high school. In some areas, particularly literature, I didn’t learn new material until I enrolled in some post-graduate classes. Unreal, but off topic.
I was a Freshman in college, attending LSU in Baton Rouge, and was enrolled in POLISCI 1001 – typical stadium seating/lecture dias platform and our professor was speaking about WASPS. I had NEVER heard this term before and, being inquisitive, raised my hand to ask what he was talking about. “What are wasps?” I asked him. He almost snarled at me when he said, “White Anglo Sadist Pigs!” I was horrified, and of course all but certain that was NOT was the acronym meant (unless it was something he had made up for purposes of his lecture.) Welcome to the indoctrination of youth. This occurred in 1983, by the way.
By the way, this prompted a phone call home that evening to speak with my father about this – I’m sure his face was purple with rage!!

The problem with the Iranian theory is that surplus weapons from Libya are of small consequence given the supply that is coming from Sunni states such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. And what interest does Al Queda have in disrupting its supplies from Libya? None.

A simpler explanation is that Sunnis and their fellow travellers in the West enjoy killing Americans. Hillary did not care about security, nor did Obama. Dead white Americans are of no concern. There is no need for some complicated Iranian attack by Al Queda in a Sunni country with no Iranian presence.

The cover-up is easily explained by Hillary and Obama not wanting to take responsibility for anything. And then there was Romeny who did not want to play hardball. McCain of course is a self-hating RINO who like Chris Matthews gets a thrill when he thinks of Obama.

I’ve never understood the link with Iran. Yes, Gaddafi’s weapons were being shipped to Syrian anti-Assad rebels via Turkey (and now Jordan). And yes, Iran is aligned with Assad. But I’ve not yet encountered any FACT point to a link between Iran and the Benghazi attack.

What we know however is a Turkish connection: not only Ali Sait Akin crossing the barricades, but also the ship AL ENTISAR.

Al-Entisar is a Libyan ship which was then used by the non-governmental organization Insani Yardim Vakfi (IHH), a self-defined Turkish Islamic group.

According to a Fox News investigation, shipping records confirmed that the Al Entisar docked at the Turkish port of Iskenderun on September 6. Iskanderun (or ‘Alexandrette’ on the map below) is quite close to Idlib (where the Syrian civil war was raging then).

And according to the Times of London (September 14, 2012), the Al Entisar was carrying 400 tons of cargo when it docked in Iskanderun.

Some of the cargo was humanitarian, but also weapons: it was a very large consignment of weapons heading for Syria.

    Times’ Sheera Frenkel wrote:

A Libyan ship carrying the largest consignment of weapons for Syria since the uprising began has docked in Turkey and most of its cargo is making its way to rebels on the front lines, The Times has learnt.

Among more than 400 tonnes of cargo the vessel was carrying were SAM-7 surface-to-air anti-aircraft missiles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), which Syrian sources said could be a game-changer for the rebels.

“This is the largest single delivery of assistance to the rebel fighting units we have received,” said Abu Muhammed, a member of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), who helped to move the shipment from warehouses to the border. “These are things that could change the tide — if they are used correctly.”

The Times was shown the Libyan ship, The Intisaar or The Victory, in the Turkish port of Iskenderun and papers stamped by the port authority by the ship’s captain, Omar Mousaeeb, a Libyan from Benghazi and the head of an organisation called the Libyan National Council for Relief and Support, which is supporting the Syrian uprising.

The scale of the shipment, and how it should be disbursed, has sparked a row between the FSA and the Muslim Brotherhood, who took control of the shipment when it arrived in Turkey.

More then 80 per cent of the ship’s cargo, which included some humanitarian supplies, has been moved into Syria. Mr Mousaeeb and a group of Libyans who had arrived with the ship said they were preparing to travel with the final load into Syria to ensure it was being distributed.

Video and photos supported the claim that the weapons had arrived and had been moved to the border, the biggest such transit of supplies since the Syrian insurrection to overthrow the Assad regime began in March 2011.

“I can’t say to the media all we are doing. I can only talk about the medicine and humanitarian aid,” Mr Mousaeeb said. “Our ship carried urgent cargo that the Syrian people need to be successful in their revolution.” He said the cargo had been collected in Benghazi after an urgent appeal by Syrian rebels to groups involved with the Libyan revolution.

“They said that the conditions, the lack of weapons and material, was holding back the Syrian revolution from success,” Mr Mousaeeb said. “We now see there is even more they need.”

[...] In late April, Lebanese authorities seized a large consignment of Libyan weapons, including RPGs and heavy ammunition, from a ship intercepted in the Mediterranean. The ship was attempting to reach the Lebanese port city of Tripoli, a largely Sunni city seen as supportive of the Syrian rebellion against President Assad.

[...] Suleiman Hawari, an Australian-Syrian based in Antakya who works with Mr Mousaeeb, said: “Everyone wanted a piece of the ship. Certain groups wanted to get involved and claim the cargo for themselves. It took a long time to work through the logistics.”

Falten Tirsijria and Samar Srewel, two Syrian female activists with the FSA, said there was widespread talk of Syrian groups who allied themselves with the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood movement being given a larger share of the ship’s cargo.

“The Muslim Brotherhood is trying to play a larger role in Syria and they knew if they could get their hands on the cargo it would help,” Ms Srewel said. “We think that the Libyans were manipulated by the Muslim Brotherhood to give them the cargo — instead of distributing it equally.”

Mr Mousaeeb declined to comment on which units had received cargo or how they had arranged its distribution. “The Syrian people need to unite together and stop the fighting between themselves,” he said. “We have experience from Libya. Take what we give you and fight with it against Assad.”

    ***
According to the captain of the ship, there was a fight about these weapons, between members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and elements of the Muslim Brotherhood.

As of September 2012, the FSA had been fighting the Assad régime for over a year, on the ground. The FSA was then providing the command structure able to organize multiple bands of wars, and defected military units.

Incidentally, the IHH (the Turkish Islamic NGO who was in charge of Al-Entisar) is prohibited in Israel since 2008. It worked in the service of the Muslim Brotherhood. Close to Hamas (which is actually a faction of the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza) and to the Islamic regime of Erdogan, it is financed largely by islamic groups. The IHH has been working for a long time to provide arms and funds to several militant factions of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Middle East.

On September 6, 2012, the Muslim Brotherhood tried to take control of the Al Entisar and its precious cargo. And then a fight broke out between the Brotherhood and the Free Syrian Army. Now, could this fight have been linked to the subsequent murder of Ambassador Stevens five days later, and to the looting of the CIA Annex in Benghazi?

I am now in contact with Sheera Frenkel to know more about the En Entisar.

Me neither. And it would seem to me that if this went down exactly speculated in this article, this would be the ultimate incident used to bolster support for the terrorist “rebels” in Syria against Assad as well as a future attack on Iran and funneling arms to the “rebels” would be so insignificant in comparison that it would be quickly forgotten. If this was an Iranian/Assad attack on Benghazi or even if Obama could just spin it as one, he would have already done it and a war with Iran would already be overt IMO. But I’m waiting to see more evidence. So far it is speculation that is very flawed.

Iran could have been upset that in August 2012, “President Barack Obama signed a *secret* order authorizing U.S. support for rebels seeking to depose Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government.” In practice this means permission to sell or give weapons to the rebels.

The American mission in Libya was trying 1) to buy back weapons previously owned by the Gaddafi régime, and which spread everywhere after the “revolution”; and 2) to funnelled some of them to the rebels in Syria.

Of course this could upset the Iran, Assad, Hizbullah axis, the so-called Shiite Crescent. But I’ve seen no trave indeed of any Iranian link to the Benghazi attacks. All signs point to Turkey and State Department and the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda affiliated groups (Ansar al-Sharia, to me precise).

The Turkish connection goes deeper than Ali Sait Akin and Erdogan’s administration. It reaches the non-governmental organization Insani Yardim Vakfi (IHH), a self-defined Turkish Islamic group, and the ship AL ENTISAR.

And according to the Times of London (September 14, 2012), the Al Entisar was carrying 400 tons of cargo when it docked in Iskanderun.

Some of the cargo was humanitarian, but also weapons: it was a very large consignment of weapons heading for Syria.

The U.S. mission in Benghazi was participating in running weapons from Libya to Syria via Turkey. Then something went wrong at delivery: Free Syrian Army members fought elements of the Muslim Brotherhood over an imporant cargo. (last part)

My own working theory is that there is was deep fracture between CIA operators (such as GRS contractors) on the groud of Turkey and Syrian, and directives from the State Department. The CIA’s GRS operators deal on the ground, with praxis: territories, paths, ammunitions, weapons, intelligence, access, etc. But the State Department deal with ideological ramifications: with the Muslim Brotherhood for instance, or Erdogan’s Admin: they negotiate in air-conditionned rooms with well-shaved guys in ties and suits. Whereas the CIA’s GRS operators (and possibly other privately contracted units) deal with realities on the ground: they dealt for instance with actual FSA units on the ground of Syria in the summer of 2012. But directives, I am speculating, from State Depart were to deal mainly (if not only) with Muslim Brotherhood affiliated bands. The problem is, there were not on the ground at the time : al-Nusra and other directly al-Qaeda affiliated bands such as al-Nusra were then more marginal than they are now). When in September 6 2012, 5 days before the Benghazi attack, the Al Entisar docked in Turkey with the most imporant cargo EVER in terms of weapons and medical pdrugs, there was a fight between elements the FSA and members of the Muslim Bro. My guess is that the FSA had intelligence from CIA operators about the Al Entisar delivery. Then, five days later, the Muslim Bros retalitated by pillaging the CIA Annex in Benghazi. f the CIA Annex in Benghazi?

      Does it make sense?

It was a show of force by the Muslim Brotherhood. A ‘don’t fuck with us’ message.

But to whom indeed? Why attack the CIA Annex whilst the Obama administration sponsors you, and align with you? Why would Turkey command its Consul General to set up the Ambassador to be killed, and the CIA Annex to be looted? Why?

I’ve pondered those questions, and here’s a plausibility:

We have the testimonies of many FSA units and affiliated Syrian bands (such as Abu Issa’s and Jamaal Marouf’s) complaining about how difficult it is to get weapons and cash from abroad. We have FSA-aligned warlords making YouTube videos about this issue, in which they complain about interference from the Brotherhood. And then, we have a fight between the FSA and the Brotherhood over a very large cargo of weapons.

Five days later, the Ambassador is mandated to meet the Turk at the Benghazi ‘Consulate’ at the request of both the State Department and Erdogan’s Administration. And as soon as the Turk leaves the premise, the attack begins.

Note also that contrary to previous report by State Dpt, it seems that Ty Woods and Glen Doherty never went to the ‘Consulate’: they stayed at the CIA Annex.

My guess is that the attack was targeted at the CIA, not the State Department: ransacking its cash and weapons at the Benghazi Annex. But why kill Amb. Stevens then? Well, Stevens was exactly at the junction between the State Department and the CIA: he was the face of this junction. Is this a plausible motive? Seriously is it?

The Muslim Brotherhood was seen by the FSA as trying to reap all the benefits of the rebellion, a rebellion they were not fighing on the ground for.

  27. The entire Sunni v. Shi’i Muslim mess is so complicated. I have an understanding of the key differences and, therefore, the reasons these two factions have been at war since the death of Muhammad gained through much research and reading. The U.S. has chosen to become “involved” in their centuries old war for political reasons, which aligns us with the Sunni Muslims – particularly in the eyes of the more conservative Shi’i Muslims. Both, of course, are completely misguided and neither are correct.
I often wonder, having been born and raised in America, what it must be like to be a Muslim woman from an Arab nation. I also marvel at their “devotion” to Islam and its teachings. I know there are many religious zealots in the world from all religious backgrounds, but the Muslims seem to have the market cornered on “mass adherence” to their religion. Islam is a religion of fatalism instead of hope and they have accepted it entirely. I know that Allah – the God of Muhammad – can’t be the same God as Yaweh, the God of Jesus. Even Islam recognizes that Jesus Christ was the only prophet who was sinless among man. They reject that he WAS God in the triumvirate, though. Only one in a line of prophets. Also, conveniently, since Muhammad proclaimed himself the LAST prophet, and his “teachings” to be direction from God himself, that leaves followers of Islam with nothing beyond the Qu’ran and the surahs and hadiths (which is where a problem lies between the Sunnis and Shi’is).
Has anyone ever wondered if, perhaps – and I may be hunted down and killed for putting this out here – but just perhaps the “God” that spoke to Muhammad was Satan? And, if so, then Satan is fully in control of +/- 23% of the world’s population and a growing segment of the U.S. population? It is more important now, than ever in the history of mankind, that we fight against this evil any way we can. It is more important, now than ever, that we teach our children about Jesus and our God so that they have the tools and the faith to continue this war for souls that may well end up being WWIII, as terrifying as that thought is.
Meanwhile, while we are looking towards the East, this is happening in our backyard and one has to wonder why Cuba is having old missles, etc. updated and refurbished:

One of the men who speaks in the documentary is an ex-terrorist from Palestine – he is now an American citizen and a converted Christian. One of the lines that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up was something along the lines of “What do American’s not understand about ‘kill the infidel where you find him’”? That was so poignant to me when watching this.

Ubben could not have driven by himself anywhere because all the vehicles at the mission were trashed. The annex was the second attack and several hours later because the bad guys followed Woods car.

We know it’s not a consulate, but everybody called it that in the MSM, so for the sake of clarity, I keep using that term: ‘consulate’. We know also that the Annex was the second attack; so yes, the ‘consulate’ was the primary attack in chronological term; but in term of objective? Was there anything valuable at the ‘consulate’?

And me too, I thought that Ty Woods drove to the ‘consulate’ as soon as the signal went viral on diplomatio-military emergency networks. That’s what the State Department said indeed. And then I misread Doherty’s brother, (and it was you that linked to this a few days ago). So yes, my apologies; I was wrong there. It appears indeed that Ty Woods did go to the ‘consulate’ from the Annex, and then back to the Annex, with Ubben and Smith’s dead body.
What confused me was that the State Department was wrong on Doherty being part of the fight at the ‘consulate’, if his brother is to be believed (and I see no reason why not): he went directly to the Annex as soon as he landed from Tripoli. The confusion comes from me, asking myself: on what else could State have been wrong? Then I misread the timeline from Greg Doherty’s account: Doherty arrived very late at the Annex; Woods had been there since around midnight, and Glen went there around 5:00AM. My mistake comes from the ‘already there’. So both Woods and Ubben did participate to both of the attacks. Right?

If I recall correctly, Putin has a hand in Benghazi as well since he went public with his red line being aid to the Syrian rebels who were trying to overthrow Assad. This was a warning to Obama to stay out of it. Putin’s ambassador met with Erdogan shortly before 9/11/12; then the Turkish Consul General Akin met with Stevens in Benghazi. Shortly after the Turk left, the attack started. Yes, we can conclude that Akin isn’t stupid and knew this was a roadblock setup for an attack.

Putin wants to keep his warm water port in Tartus Syria to increase Russian influence in the Middle East. It’s also about oil and gas for Putin. He wants Europe dependent on Russian oil and gas rather than Arab energy. It’s not just about money. It’s about power as well.

It’s public knowledge that the CIA sometimes runs guns to unsavory groups if it is seen as politically beneficial to the US. They armed the Afghans fighting against the Soviets and eventually the Soviets withdrew. The CIA also bought back weapons after that proxy war since they didn’t want a bunch of SAMs lying around Afghan. Steve Coll documents this in his book Ghost Wars. That was a study in shadow/proxy wars and the players kept switching sides depending on who they thought would benefit them the most. That kind of thing is going on in the Middle East right now.

I wonder if there’s a secret executive order for the overthrow of Qaddafi and Assad and certain Republicans like McCain and Graham know about it. He believed that he could do in the Middle East what even Clinton, a god in the Democrat Party, could not do; bring stability to the Middle East. Egypt was going to be his kick off event, with Libya being his piece de resistance. Obama could not give the required security in Libya, and still say “Lookie, lookie. Haven’t I made a great success of Libya by getting rid of Gadaffi?” The Administration, aided by Hillary Clinton, knew that if they actually paid attention to the situation on the ground in Benghazi, it required much more security. That security, in itself, would show what a lie the “All is well in Libya” meme was.

One report that has been ignored here is this:

BENGHAZI, Libya (Reuters) – Abdul Basit Haroun says he is behind some of the biggest shipments of weapons from Libya to Syria, which he delivers on chartered flights to neighbouring countries and then smuggles over the border.

The first consignment of weapons was smuggled into Syria aboard a Libyan ship delivering aid last year, Haroun says, but now containers of arms are flown “above board” into neighbouring countries on chartered flights.

    BLIND EYE
Haroun says he can collect weapons from around the country and arrange for them to be delivered to the Syrian rebels because of his contacts in Libya and abroad.

“They know we are sending guns to Syria,” Haroun said. “Everyone knows.”

In Libya, he helps the government with state security, according to interior ministry spokesman Majdi al-Ourfi.

He also has credentials as a commander from the days of the revolution. “Abdel Basit Haroun was with us in the February 17 brigade before he quit to form his own brigade,” said fellow brigade commander Ismail Salabi.

His weapon dealing activities appear to be well known, at least in Libya’s east.

Senior officials in Libya’s army and government told Reuters they backed supplying weapons to the Syrian opposition, while a member of Libya’s congress said Haroun was doing a great job of helping the Syrian rebels.

    http://www.firstpost.com/world/the-adventures-of-a-libyan-weapons-dealer-in-syria-885025.html

Got that? EVERYONE KNOWS. That means including the Americans. And who is Haroun? Why, none other than the guy is “helps the government with state security” as a former commander of the February 17 Brigade which was the exact organization tasked with providing security for the Benghazi compound.

And one of the most important things said by Haroun in the Reuter’s article?

“Even when the war in Syria ends, there will be another war in region; Sunni against Shia. At the beginning, there was just Assad to bring down … now Hezbollah, Iran are involved.”

    Then there is this:

There is a new Reuters report from Benghazi that further corroborates the account of Libyans smuggling their leftover weapons, including missiles, through Benghazi to Syria and adds additional details:

Abdul Basit Haroun says he is behind some of the biggest shipments of weapons from Libya to Syria, which he delivers on chartered flights to neighbouring countries and then smuggles over the border.

. . . The first consignment of weapons was smuggled into Syria aboard a Libyan ship delivering aid last year, Haroun says, but now containers of arms are flown “above board” into neighbouring countries on chartered flights.

That Libyan ship departed shortly before the attack against Americans in Benghazi:

On September 14, 2012, three days after Stevens was killed, Sheera Frenkel, a correspondent for the Times of London, reported from Antakya, Turkey:

“A Libyan ship carrying the largest consignment of weapons for Syria since the uprising began has docked in Turkey and most of its cargo is making its way to rebels on the front lines, The Times has learnt.

“Among more than 400 tonnes of cargo the vessel was carrying were SAM-7 surface-to-air anti-aircraft missiles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), which Syrian sources said could be a game-changer for the rebels.

“Frenkel’s report identified the ship’s captain as ‘Omar Mousaeeb, a Libyan from Benghazi and the head of an organisation called the Libyan National Council for Relief and Support, which is supporting the Syrian uprising.’”

    http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/351436/arms-continue-flow-benghazi-syria-jim-geraghty

That ship departed either Sept. 11th or the morning hours of Sept. 12th knowing that it had permission from the Turkish government and would be allowed to sail the waters of Crete with no problem. Is there any doubt in anyone’s mind that Chris Stevens was not fully aware that this ship was going to sail and that it had the Administration’s approval? The ship docked just 35 miles from the Syrian border and its cargo could be transported in a straight shot to the Syrian town of Aleppo, where some of the worst fighting was happening.

The Kurds are a stateless nation and always have been. Their own language, flag, and culture. They made their separate peace for the northern part of Iraq and are light years ahead of the rest of the nation of Iraq. Turkey’s annual Spring show of force at the border btwn Turkey and Iraq, always claiming their aim was to quell only the Kurdish rebel groups, may find them next year trying to make a deal with their own Turkish Kurds, who have been suppressed for a long time.

Then there are the Syrian Kurds, trying to carve out their piece against all the others during the turmoil there.

And finally, the Iranian Kurds are in the mix.

BTW, they’ve established some DNA connection between Kurds and Jews. Maybe dating back to the Babylonian exile, who knows? But they are a cut above the average Arab in many ways. Still Sunni Muslims, but Kurds first.

It remains to be seen how they may flourish out of this mayhem and murder. The Karma Dude has teh last laugh.

Do those who survived Benghazi, or the CIA Operatives really believe bho will allow them to live? Too many who could talk! Their only safety is to blow the lid on this whole mess.

The section starting “Syrian president Bashar el Assad, Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah”…, and blaming Syria for the Benghazi attack is incorrect. Obviously Syria did not have so much power in Libya it could pull all that off with the main players agreeing to it. Second, that section has other mistakes, like saying the Boston thing was done by Shiites, which it obviously was not for many reasons.

    Otherwise, an interesting article.
