ABC News Zimmerman Video Re-Visited (original air date 3/28) The Associations and Agenda Become More Clear

Follow the associations, look into their background, understand the impetus of why they attached themselves to the narrative advancement, bring forth the sunlight, and understand the depth of the opposition against George Zimmerman.   This is NOT, in the larger sense, about George Zimmerman.  He was the tool – to advance a cause.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   The Story Outlined ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you may remember, on March 29th we were reviewing another “exclusive”  ABC release of George Zimmerman at Sanford Police Dept. when we noticed something odd, the video was/is actually a recording of a monitor.  Initially we thought that meant it was not an official release.  We were wrong.   ABC was given a digital Hi-def copy from the outset.
ABC screenshot
We now know that ABC was the first to posess a digital copy of the actual CCTV recording.  But they chose instead to use a lesser quality, and far lower definition, video.  (This is what they aired)
Candace SmithHere’s the story:
On March 28th ABC’s Candace Smith (seen left) was the first to gain posession of the video.
On 3/28 she asked SPD for the video, the police department was initially not going to release it since the area covered by the camera view was considered a secured area and not subject to release without a judge’s order.
However, an attorney working for the city, Lonnie Groot, who was tasked with reviewing all the requests for information, agreed to release it since it was actually on the city’s servers.
Ms. Smith was provided a direct hi-def copy DVD;  But for some reason she was unable to get it to load through their equipment (or so the story is told).    Sources indicate she was quite agitated, and so, trying to meet a deadline, she went angrily to City Hall.  Once there she raised quite a stink about SPD, not giving her and ABC suitable material, nor actually fulfilling the request.
The city played her copy on their equipment and showed her it worked.
Apparently, she was pushing to make a deadline to go on air and asked if she could just video the material from the city’s monitor.    The request was granted.    The video was filmed with a small minicam similar to the one held in this picture (above).
So yes, even though ABC had actual physical custody of a direct copy in High Def, the first airing to hit the public airwaves on March 28th was video of a video.   Again, Ms. Candace Smith was the first to gain access to this video.   Subsequently, more media copies were made for all the requests that followed.
If you recall, all the commentary about that video were framed to a narrative “showing no injuries, no blood etc,” this mantra was repeated several times throughout the initial showing and then picked up by other media outlets using the EXACT same footage.
Here is where the agenda shows, and it appears that ABC may have intentionallly played this video using a ridiculous low resolution on purpose so that no identifying injuries could be noticed.    After all, this was the main point of their reporting on the “exclusive”.
ABC screenshot
If they, as journalists, had actually used the HD digital copy provided by SPD when you play it frame by frame and zoom in on GZ’s head, the injuries clearly come into view several times.  While the bleeding had subsided, the gashes are visible.
They had this capacity from Day One when they were provided the footage.   They could have gone back to the affiliate studio of ABC and played the HD video for their story assembling the “accurate” narrative.   They did not.  Why?
Later such an admission was made by ABC.  Only they waited until April 2nd to actually use the HD copy footage they were in posession of.   As reported:
(Orlando Sentinel)  ABC News has re-digitized video of George Zimmerman taken shortly after Trayvon Martin’s shooting.
The video was unveiled as an exclusive this morning on “Good Morning America.” ABC was the first news organization to show the original tape.
Reporter Matt Gutman said the clearer video shows “what appear to be a pair of gashes or welts on George Zimmerman’s head.”
Neighborhood Watch volunteer Zimmerman has said he shot 17-year-old Trayvon in self-defense. The video shows Zimmerman arriving at the Sanford Police Department within an hour after the shooting.
Gutman said the video had been “clarified” by Forensic Protection Inc. Former FBI Special Agent Brad Garrett told ABC that the clearer video shows “marks on the back of Mr. Zimmerman’s head.”    (link)
Why did they (Candace Smith, Matt Gutman) witness, with their eyes, a High-Def version provided by police.  Yet they reported on, and presented, a poor quality low resolution version?
Even if you accept Ms. Smith’s claim of inability to load on her equipment (see picture below), she still witnessed the digital copy in person.
And Why did ABC wait from 3/28 until 4/2 to correct their initial reporting when they held posession of the correct version the entire time?
“clarified” by Forensics Protection Inc.
Really – Matt and Candace, really?
Again, the TRUTH is within the associations that form the agenda.   Look.   The TRUTH screams to be heard.
Here is the standard portable propaganda equipment as photographed by Ms. Smith herself and shared on her Twitter Feed:
    Remind me to never make any of the treepers mad. You guys DO not miss a thing. I know some so called police departments and other so called Investigators who could learn a great deal from you all.
  2. gretchenone says:
    ABC’s employees are lowlife scum who think of nothing but their sick ideological agenda. This was a high-tech lynching of George Zimmerman.
  3. Coast says:
    ABC get ready….yes, Mr. Zimmerman would like to have the check direct deposited.
    • lovemygirl says:
      I was wondering why ABC was not first on the list. Perhaps NBC was a simpler case?
      • stringplayer55 says:
        Yes, I think that is probably correct. The NBC case is really easy to show. Don’t worry, they’ll all end up shelling out big bucks to George and Shelly.
        The question is, will they learn anything along the way? Here’s money that they won’t. The leftist media has their agenda, and that is all that matters. Especially when they get bailed out by their insurance companies and/or parent entertainment conglomerates, then why do they need to operate differently in the future?
    • jello333 says:
      MOM/West/Beasley can even make it sporting for them. Wait till the NBC damage award or settlement is announced, and then ask ABC if they wanna pay the same amount, or if they’d rather flip a coin. Heads, they get to take a zero off the NBC number… and that’s what ABC has to pay. Good deal for them, eh. But if it’s tails… well then they have to ADD a zero. So, ABC, what do you say? Wanna just pay what NBC pays… or do you feel lucky?
      • jordan2222 says:
        If the request for a jury trial is granted. this could take years. Attorney fees alone could be in the millions for both sides. The demand for preservation of evidence in the NBC suit gives the other networks notice and the time to conveniently destroy or lose it.
        Simply out of curiosity, I wonder what their target is in terms of amount of recovery and what George’s cut would be. I think SD or someone mentioned that Beasley gave the defense a half million up front but I would guess that O’Mara and West might get a cut above a predetermined amount.
        That said, I am STILL wondering why the defense has not asked for indigent status for George UNLESS he and Shellie came into some unrevealed wealth but. if so, that makes no sense since they are stepping up requests for additional donations.
        • sundance says:
          …” I think SD or someone mentioned that Beasley gave the defense a half million up front”…
          Careful there big fella. I was just explaining a possible process that has been explained to me. I did not say THIS actually took place, I was merely explaining how a civil law group, with potential gains from civil action, can, at times, fund a criminal endeavor that affects their civil action. I DID NOT say this had taken place, and I DID NOT specify that anying had actually been done in this regard around the Zimmerman case.
          I was only explaining a possible scenario about how it *could* work.
      • Sharon says:
        Seems to me we might want to wait and see what reality puts on the table. Things got pretty cranked before the hearing on the 11th, and the takeaway from that was not nearly as amazingly wonderful as it mighta, coulda been? Reality regarding any payoffs or who does what with whatever cut they may or may not have… way off in the future.
  4. ottawa925 says:
    Can anyone comment on ABC having evidence Trayvon called 911?
  5. Xballer52 says:
    Watching the video again, it seems that there was obvious intent to cover Zimmerman’s head with the “ABC exclusive” logo. What I don’t understand, is that the logo movement corresponds with the movement of the camera. This leads me to ask a few questions: #1, if this was filmed from the Sanford HD version, why move the camera? It seems like there would be no need to do that. #2, how is the movement of the logo explained to cover Zimmerman’s head (wither intentionally or unintentionally) #3, for the movement of the logo to correspond to the camera movement, wouldn’t it mean that the logo is being superimposed by the camera?
  6. rumpole2 says:
    I’d like to know (have confirmed) WHY they do this stuff?
    I can imagine that a particular ideology and bias might shade your perceptions so you actually “mis-see” or mis-hear” things but this and other example go way beyond that. It seems that people KNOW what the TRUTH is yet set out on purpose to mus-represent and report it.
    With all the internet scrutiny that is a risky course of action to say the least… so there must be percieved rewards that make the risk worth while?
    • rumpole2 says:
      Matt Gutman Depo should be great :D
    • lovemygirl says:
      What risk? So far no one has been punished so they assume it is risk free.
      • rumpole2 says:
        I agree and one sense my question was rhetorical…..
        I am questioning them ignoring the risk… but I know the risk that SHOULD be there is in fact generally not there…. but perhaps with places like CTh and wolverines like SD… the
        “pay-off matrix” is being skewed towards a little more risk?
    • sundance says:
      The media, in a larger sense, see no “risk” in the presentation of a specific false narrative. They simply are NOT held to account. Secondly, they erroneously feel immune to being discovered. They have operated in this way so long they have no sense of accountability. Perhaps the Beasley group and lawsuits can change that somewhat, but I doubt it – more than likely they’ll just consider it a cost of doing business.
      They (the media) have a goal, a base-line ideology, they seek to re-affirm over and over, and subsequently they ignore even basic simple truths that are presented in front of them. Here is a case in point, just watch:
      Even when they ask questions, and get answers, they cannot then form a cogient thought because they are blind to a goal. It seems silly when it is viewed in the sunlight – but as this video shows the “goal” is the agenda.
      • lovemygirl says:
        The poor guy should have just replied the “Koch brothers” smiled and wait for Chris’ head to explode!
      • marie says:
        The network machinations transcend the Zimmerman case. They are the actual puppeteers who put a POTUS in office and they can continue to do that, again and again and again.
        I don’t care if someone is a lib, a mod, or a conservative. We have to show Americans what has happened to journalism. It was never pure and can never be pure as it is practiced by fallible and biased human beings, but the networks don’t ever TRY to be unbiased.
        A movement of some sort must be started. It must rival the Tea Party in numbers.
        • howie says:
          Since 1964 they have had a mission. 50 years of a habit is hard to break. The law was tweaked and reporting became pro-active. You have to read the bill in order to find out what is in it.
      • brutalhonesty says:
        that sounds like michelle white and nell dell among others on in session/jftm/gzlegal..nell is still asking wheres the blood from gz on tm….insanity
      • jordan2222 says:
        Eventually, someone is going to explode and slap the hell out of this guy on the air. I cannot even imagine how this guy could be happy in real life. I wanna see someone lose control.. live.
    • marie says:
      I was wondering the same thing. For example, this Gutman guy. Now that he knows the rest of us know of his shoddy “work,” indeed his horrendous work that could cost a man his life and has already cost him his freedom, do you think he has done any self-reflection? (NO, because if he had, he’d have come clean about this by now). So, is he simply criminal for purposely setting up a guy? (It appears so.)
      • jordan2222 says:
        If you think he or any of the other conspirators have any guilt over what they have done. .. well.. you might as well whistle Dixie.
        When have you seen even one of them apologize or even retract a story in a sincere manner? Even when caught red handed, it’s always an “accident,” at best.
        They cannot even muster a “I’m sorry.” I was taught that when we harm someone, even if accidentally, we should “make amends” because “we are all sorry.”
        “To make an amend is to restore justice as much as possible in a direct way that which we have broken or damaged.”
        That is the point of the lawsuit.. to FORCE NBC to make amends because they refuse to.
      • tstops says:
        psychopathic behavior is one where you care only about what is in it for you. People are viewed as play things in their world, sociopaths are slightly less, murder and other etc is not in their agenda mostly. Psychopaths are in my opinion becoming unveiled as to their large presence in positions of power in the government and business.
        One rule to remember about psychopaths, they are NOT LIKE YOU, they have no remorse, no guilt, heck they don’t even know how to smile. They are “actors” they fake their emotions. You can’t cure it. and they are very dangerous people. I bet each and everyone of you has been or is now been associated with a psychopath. I would recommend reading up on it and learning how they work. You will sooon start to understand what is reason for lots of behavior you don’t understand.
        • kathyca says:
          One of the most interesting books I’ve read recently is The Sociopath Next Door. After reading it, I felt that I understood as well as a “normal” person possibly can how such people think and operate. You’re right, you can never truly understand them. But knowing that they exist and how to recognize them is an extremely useful tool — even in everyday life.
  7. waltherppk says:
    This is “long march” cultural Marxism propaganda on display ….how to “pitch” the subversive political correctness narrative, and “critical theory” as taught by the Frankfurt School Marxists, using fraudulent “journalism” seasoned with sensationalism and deception, using out of context edited audio and video when expedient to stand reality on its head. It is textbook propaganda.
    • rumpole2 says:
      Wider issues for sure… but my thought is on the personal level… people most likely fairly cowardly…would require strong possibility an immediate, personal gain. I guess a reporter might expect financial rewards and “promotion”.. but with some considerable risk of being found out. I guess they are not actually very perceptive and don’t see the risks?
  8. lovemygirl says:
    I didn’t know about Candace Smith before; Good digging. Now what, if any, is her relationship with Guttman, Crump etc?
    • sundance says:
      “Vigilante” !! Consider the term “vigilante”. Ready to dive into the rabbit hole?
      are you sure you want to dive into the rabbit hole?
      Are you double secret sure you want to continue into the rabbit hole?
      Trayvon Martin family attorney: George Zimmerman is a vigilante – Published March 29, 2012 | Hannity | Sean Hannity With: Daryl Parks, attorney
      HANNITY: But you are talking about one witness that came out today. But the police spoke to the one eyewitness that night that said he saw Trayvon on top of Mr. Zimmerman, pushing his head into the ground, his injuries with a broken nose and lacerations to the back of his head were consistent, were they not, with the story that the eyewitness was talking about?
      PARKS: Well, we have something to contradict that. Now we see pictures of Mr. Zimmerman —
      HANNITY: What is that?
      PARKS: Well, the pictures from the Sanford Police Department when the police cruiser is in the bay, Mr. Zimmerman gets out of the vehicle. We see him get out. We don’t see any blood on the shirt.
      HANNITY: Well, hang on a second.
      PARKS: — on the jacket.
      HANNITY: He was treated by a medic, was he not? At the scene?
      PARKS: But he claims to have blood all over his body. Do you see any blood on the jacket, on his shirt? No you don’t.
      HANNITY: Yes, well, I’m only giving you both sides here. And the one side, the Zimmerman side is saying that George Zimmerman told his father that in fact, he was walking back to the car and it was Trayvon who confronted him and threatened him and broke his nose and put these lacerations on the back of the head. Are you denying that that’s a possibility?
      PARKS: Let me take you back. OK.
      HANNITY: No, no, no, you can take me back. But is that a possibility that Trayvon broke his nose and pounded his head into the cement? Is that possible.
      PARKS: Well, it’s quite possible that he was the one that’s instigated the incident when he got out of the vehicle out of the — and became a vigilante. He started to fight with Trayvon.
      PARKS: But also, he never properly identified himself. He has no badge. He’s a guy walking around with a 9-millimeter. He’s a vigilante.
      Last chance to get out before you get in too deep. You still sure?
      Howard University is the latest school to join ABC’s “ABC News on Campus” program, the network announced Tuesday.
      The program — started in 2008 — creates bureaus at universities around the country, staffed with journalism students who work with ABC News producers to report local stories, some of which are featured across ABC News platforms — many appear Candace Smith, a senior broadcast journalism major, has been named Howard University’s bureau chief. Smith interned this summer with ABC’s “Good Morning America” in New York City; she previously interned at Fox-owned WTTG in Washington.
      Sorry, now you are in too deep to be able to retreat. You’re gonna have to find the exit. Follow the arrows marked “TRUTH THIS WAY”, and my apologies in advance for the spit, hate, vile attacks and life impact you will encounter as you attempt to exit back into the disinfecting sunlight of truth. Enjoy your trip. :(
      • lovemygirl says:
        I’m diving in, is my lifeline secure? Howard U is all I had to see to put on my protective glasses before diving. I worked in DC and unfortunately know many graduates.
      • lovemygirl says:
        Got the connections now.
        Ran into this:
        Jul 29, 2011 – Michelle Hord-White is leaving ABC News to become vice president of talent development and pipeline programs at NBC Universal.
        From the first link you provided:
        I applied for an ABC internship early last semester. However, it was my connection with Michelle Hord-White, a Howard alumna and Director of Talent Recruitment and Development at ABC that helped me to get the internship. I met her at one of the pre-planning meetings for ABC on Campus and we stayed in touch. When I told her that I had applied to ABC, she was instrumental in helping to place me at GMA.
        • sundance says:
          Yup…. see how deep that rabbit hole is.
          Now you see the virus spread. The parasite, in this example, who carries the virus was Michelle Hord-White and she carried the virus from willing-host ABC to willing-host NBC.
          The agenda/narrative/goal was the same. Same as Jeff Blake at NBC Miami.
  9. marie says:
    GZ and MOM are going after NBC. Why aren’t they going after ABC? If nothing else, surely they can scar their reputation,.
    • lovemygirl says:
      RZ jr has assured the list is long. ABC may be in the top 3. They are going to knock off the big ones first then move down the “food chain”.
    • david says:
      The real advantage of going after NBC is that Al Sharpton is an NBC employee
      • marie says:
        And Chuck Todd. Did you see his latest, today? He says the reason Susan Rice won’t become Secretary of State is because of “right wing news advocacy.”
        Hmmm. He made no mention that her lack of credibility on Benghazi played into the no faith in her. He made no mention that all of DC knows….and so does he….that Susan Rice has a long history of having a short fuse and bad manners, hardly traits that we want in our lead diplomat.
        Chuck Todd does understand left-wing advocacy, though. He practices it every day.
        As long as ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, and AP are allowed to ride rought shod over the news, conservatism stands no chance. Thus, one or two of these guys has to be brought down, shown to be what they are, advocates for causes of their choosings, not practicers of journalism.
      • jello333 says:
        And what’s nice about that, is that they can use “Reverend” Al twice. They can use him as part of their ammo against his bosses, for what he did on his MSNBC show. Plus they can go after him more directly and personally, for the NBPP rallies and stuff.
    • John Galt says:
      “Why aren’t they going after ABC?”
      I expect they will depose Gutman in the criminal case first.
    • tara says:
      What’s the statute of limitations? I’m thinking they’ll start with NBC, and if they win that lawsuit then they’ll go after ABC.
  10. Arkindole says:
    That is clearly a righteous bust SD….
    So, if I understand this correctly the local affiliate produced the video that was then sent to corporate?
    That would suggest that the claim of insufficient wounds originated with Smith and/or Gutman and corporate then ran with *their* storyline on the basis of what they said without checking (viewing the HD). So, did Smith view this at SPD before getting the DVD copy from SPD, and, who brought up the insufficient wound angle? I seriously doubt Smith would have come up with it on her own…Possible; not probable. Maybe that’s why she was so P.O.ed when returning to SPD–that she knew the exact story she wanted to send to corporate but she couldn’t get this to corporate using her incompatible video equipment.
    • sundance says:
      I don’t know the process of “checks and balances” but the video was used on ABC with Dianne Sawyer on the night of 3/28/12. National Broadcast – For whatever that’s worth.
      • tstops says:
        From her twitter account Candace is part of the ABC Network not an affiliate from Sanford. She works out of NY from her twitter posting etc. She was sent down to Sanford it appears to work with Guttman. She was with Guttman at the first DD1 interview. Also I doubt a National reporter like Guttman would have had a local affiliate reporter tag along for the scoop, not the way they work. They don’t like to share.
  11. nomorebsplease says:
    How did you confirm this about candice and the whole backstory? This is something that must be shared. An eye opener for sure.
    Great job, Sundance, on this and all of the other articles. I have gone over and over your article and comments from yesterday on OMara. The truth has no agenda. Sometimes the truth hurts, yes, but lies such as those in this case, hurts even worse. I commend you on that article and also how well you handled the criticism you received on it. During the Omara West interview for In Session Omara’s remark on not taking a plea really bothered me. He should have given a direct look her in the eye and a quick response of no. Instead he looked towards West before answering yes. I also feel if he had handled things differently about the pay pal account and passport, maybe Shellie wouldn’t have been arrested. He needs to step up to the plate and fight hard for his client. If they have to depose every witness on the prosecution list to get everything, then they need to roll up their sleeves and get to it already. The young woman showed in the above article must have had an agenda of her own like fighting for the black cause. Keep shinning the light Treepers.
    ABC Still Claims Neo-Nazis in Sanford
    By D. S. Hube | April 10, 2012 | 10:45
    Following up on P.J. Gladnick’s NewsBusters story about reports of non-existent neo-Nazi “patrols” in Sanford, Fla. in response to potential racial violence there, ABC’s Candace Smith apparently hasn’t gotten the memo that there are no such patrols going on. As Gladnick reported two days ago, Professor William Jacobson of the Legal Insurrection blog did the legwork that reporters like Smith are supposed to do. Get this — he e-mailed the Sanford Police Department and simply asked them if there were indeed neo-Nazis patrolling the streets of Sanford. “No confirmed reports” was the reply. Jacobson then — get this — followed up by asking the police if they just weren’t yet aware of any patrols: There was “no indication” of any such patrols, the Sanford police responded.
    • sundance says:
      When you file FIOA requests, or demand FIOA information, you, along with everyone else who has requested, become part of the public record. There were dozens of people requesting video DVD footage from CCTV at SPD.
      Accidentally, while reviewing all the information on those requests, and the requests for the 911 calls, there appears some information about another series of issues around the 911 call recordings, their release by Triplett, and the Florida “Dale Earnhardt Law” governing their release.
  19. tara says:
    Have you seen the latest update on the GZ Legal Case web site? Not sure what’s going on there, but I suspect Team Skittles is angry that info about Witness 8 (DD) was posted (reposted really, it was available for the world to see) and it sounds like they might also be saying that the person everyone thinks is W8 is not W8. No explanation yet why W8 was 16 and 18 years old at the same time. Like I said before, Team Skittles universe has their own physics going on …
  20. eastern2western says:
    who exactly is witness eight? She has the ability to hear grasses and also the ability to make phone calls for forty plus minute.
  21. jordan2222 says:
    Sometimes I try to visualize all of these left wing nuts huddling together in a planning room in live video conferences with all of the players from the various networks tuned in, plotting their strategy for how they will walk hand-in-hand to uniformly publicize the senseless murder of an innocent black child by a self appointed neighbor hood watch vigilante.
    What is scary is that no such “meetings” are necessary. They instinctively know exactly what to do.
    • rumpole2 says:
      I think it is more realistic ( but operhaps even scarier), to imagine a whole bunch of individuals, with perhaps just small groups of individuals… all doing the same sort of stuff.
      A GRAND conspiracy with structure, and a leader, and chain of command, can be fought more easily… chop off the head is a good start usually… but a whole bucket of snakes is gonna require a whole lot of head chopping.
    • lovemygirl says:
      It is the same mentality as those that think the “white man” conspires to keep the “black man” down. Yep, I confess that at the dinner table the topic of discussion is what can we do to keep the “black man” down rather than say grace, eat your peas, is your homework done, etc.
      There is no leader per se but a general instilled belief.
  22. tstops says:
    I understand the process involved here, and though it doesn’t really effect the criminal case, it does the civil. Here are some thoughts about this event.
    “Ms. Smith was provided a direct hi-def copy DVD; But for some reason she was unable to get it to load through their equipment (or so the story is told). Sources indicate she was quite agitated, and so, trying to meet a deadline, she went angrily to City Hall. Once there she raised quite a stink about SPD, not giving her and ABC suitable material, nor actually fulfilling the request.”
    Lots of questions and curiosity about procedure here. Not only on a Technical level, one on the personal level also:
    Ms Smith was agitated, raised a stink at City Hall. This is sorta strange to me. Reporters don’t usually get huffy like that when dealing with those they must deal with on a regular basis, especially the communications personal, and those responsible for taking the requests for evidence copies. If she did come in with an attitude, I wonder why, as someone new, you would want to build relationships with them.
    She came armed with a camera, and the excuse her copy did not work. She already had the plan it seems to want to tape off the screen, even if they burned a new copy, or really asked her what format she needed and supply that.
    What was the file on the DVD. We know Lonnie Groot said it was on the servers, so the HD camera in the garage feeds to a system. The output file of the camera is most likely recorded in the digital format as the ouput of the camera. It might transcode to another format to compress before it goes to the servers, Either way it will be almost always stored in a format tha is compatible with all current digital editing systems that would be in a newsroom even in a Sanford TV station. Avid or Final Cut Pro (both) even Premier and Vegas should open these common files, heck the camera she used records to one of them. It doesn’t make sense for her to be unable to open that file with today’s equipment and the codecs in use, even the security camera in the garage used.
    THERE is on way she may have had trouble. New and only used to what is the NORM she didn’t understand that the HD DVD was a HD DVD, like a blu-ray. Now that could have caused her problems because she didn’t know what the real issue was, and that was she needed to open it in a blu ray DVD player and capture the video as it played. Or used a program that would rip it from the blu ray and then turn that file into an “editable” file.
    I doubt that it was a blu ray, for one the disks cost about ten bucks a piece or so. It is easier to just copy a file onto a regular DVD in an HD file format. The simplest method and its how it should be done for news organizations. They played it and it worked, so it was not corrupted. What was it, a file, or a “movie”.
    That she was able to talk them into letting her tape it off the screen is also unusual, this took the okay of someone in a high capacity. It is obvious they were under pressure then and did it to keep ABC from pointing fingers at them. Black reporter is given defective DVD evidence in the Trayvon Martin case, could thing she brought that camera huh.
    The camera is HD, what did they play back with, A computer monitor, or a HD TV/monitor. It moves around because she is hand holding it. Those things are not built to be handheld. Take a 5 pound or ten pound weight and put it in your hands and hold them away from your body or up to your eye. It does not rest on your shoulder, remember. It gets heavy and for someone like her, its not her job to be a camera op. She is a reporter and maybe sometimes a “one man band”.
    That copy is like a bootleg of someone in a theatre taping a movie with the same camera, not as good, but not bad either. Harm done by doing all this and not using the original file doesn’t seem bad. However lets go to the next step. The file in the camera.
    The camera she used has the HD video in a file format to be output. THOUGH you can on many of them also choose to ouput STANDARD DEFINTION (what you used to get on TV and still do on Standard DVD’s played on your home set.
    By outputting it as Standard NTSC out of the camera, (whoop[s a mistakey) the resolution would be poor, and if you did it by actually playing the file out as NTSC and use the “video out composite” from the camera, well it could look even worse.
    Now if you have a HD file then you have to set up things in the editing process to render that footage DOWN, and deliberate act.
    You have cover by using the camera and outputting the file to your editor is a mistake that is make. Menu’s on those things are nightmare, whoopsie.
    If I were Beasley I might want to get that file/and or an identical from the city. FInd out what type of editing systems they used and if that file was compatible. The model and make of the camera and how it recorded the video (file system) and the options the camera offered for ouput. Digital and (composite if available). How much Time passed after she was given the DVD and when she returned. Note she raised a stink about the quality of the material they gave her and ABC aired a low resolution version that is also Stinky, hmmmm. sorta sorta ain’t it.
    Because it seems to me a devious mind with an agenda could have opened that file and played it. Saw from that footage the injuries would show.
    Someone savvy might have been there to know how to degrade the image in a back door manner. Forensics something “clarified” it. Yes Matt after you reset the menu back to the correct HD ouput file, instead a menu was wrong you found from a “forensic” investigation of the camera controls hmmm. Sure a simple plan, errr mistake you made with the camera file.
    OH also you might want to ask the production staff why those images were played/broadcast with out a disclaimer about it and how it was recording and the image quality. How did that “mistake” get past the producer, editor, and etc. Ask for the original footage to see how it was recorded. See what it looks like when you Mistakenly ouput it as NTSC or even better Composit video out, and be sure and use a real cheap cable.
    “The city played her copy on their equipment and showed her it worked.
    Apparently, she was pushing to make a deadline to go on air and asked if she could just video the material from the city’s monitor. The request was granted. The video was filmed with a small minicam similar to the one held in this picture (above).
    So yes, even though ABC had actual physical custody of a direct copy in High Def, the first airing to hit the public airwaves on March 28th was video of a video. Again, Ms. Candace Smith was the first to gain access to this video. Subsequently, more media copies were made for all the requests that followed.
    If you recall, all the commentary about that video were framed to a narrative ”showing no injuries, no blood etc,” this mantra was repeated several times throughout the initial showing and then picked up by other media outlets using the EXACT same footage.
    Here is where the agenda shows, and it appears that ABC may have intentionallly played this video using a ridiculous low resolution on purpose so that no identifying injuries could be noticed. After all, this was the main point of their reporting on the “exclusive”.
      You broke my brain but no one could make up all of what you wrote so I agree.
    • lovemygirl says:
      I’ll simplify it. ABC has state of the art equipment because that is their business. It is pure BS that the HD version they had could not be used.
    • lovemygirl says:
      Oh, and that wasn’t a low cost video cam Candice had in the picture I saw, $10K minimum.
    • lovemygirl says:
      After further review she was technically clueless.
    • jello333 says:
      Yep, I think that’s about it. Here, I’ll give a short summation of what you said, in case anyone is skimming and misses your long comment:
      Smith got an HD copy of the video. She watched it (in private) and realized you could clearly see George’s wounds. SHE DID NOT LIKE THAT. So she needed to find an excuse to degrade the images. So she goes back and complains that the DVD doesn’t work. They play it for her and say, look, it works just fine. She says, OK, but I don’t have time to mess with it, so I’ll just take a video of your monitor with my trusty camera here. After she tapes it, she goes back to her la-bor-a-tory and makes a new low-resolution DVD copy from what she has just filmed. And that’s what she gives to the higher-ups.
      (Hope that’s about right.)
      • howie says:
        Or…a producer saw the good copy and told her they would not use it because it was exculpatory. She wanted to get on the air and remade an acceptable video. The template. Hmmmm. There may be email. But getting it is another story. It is out there though.
        • tstops says:
          Jello that is nice cliff notes version. Howie has it correct also, but there is a caveat there. She traveled to Sanford from NY I believe (see her twitte account, she is based in NY). The lead on this case is Guttman. He would have been around to make comments and suggestions, and let the rookie do the dirty work. Her being huffy and carrying the camera with her shows pre thinking about how to get a copy off of the SPD screen.
          Again taking a video off of the screen of an HD picture with a HD camera is not going to produce that type of degraded image. It will be only slight less degraded, to the general public I doubt they could see a difference. The type of degradation I see is done post facto. One using the camera which could be said it was a “forensic error” , the other done in the editing system and just take the HD image and render it to a NTSC SD 480i etc.
          • tstops says:
            ONE other thing. ON a digital LCD LED tv set made for HD, which is most peoples homes these days. A Standard Definition signal does not reproduce very well, not as good as it does on an old CRT used before LCD. So a degraded signal to 480i then broadcast is going to look pretty crappy when viewed over the air or on cable/sat. OVer the air local HD is a much better HD picture than that seen on cable and Satellite systems. They will look worse than the over the air because of the compression they use. The cable and Sat systems use more compression than the over the air broadcasts when they output the signal. Though I doubt candace knows this as would others with no engineering background of the processes used to do the telecast.
    This is total bunk. hes not intriguing and the fact remains all you know about him was invented by the ryan julison pr firm based on the 2004 version of trayvon, not the 2012 version. his whole life story is a creation. They cant even decide what meal tracy cooked that started a fire(chicken then fish then chicken, back to fish I think), 3 versions of his favorite meal (that racist fried chicken, then it became burgers, now its steak and potatoes when he lives with miriam martin…so now thats 5 places he lives..tracys, brandis, alicias, sybrinas, now miriams….), and they cant even get their family straight (chad isnt his brother and isnt even a step brother, he was replaced by jahvaris fulton who now claims hes a martin, they dont tell you about kira the sister who is probably the second dd when the first one didnt show, shes the right age, brandi was never his step mom and at the time tracy was married to alicia, tracy didnt even know brandis address when he called 911 to report tm missing)….he was not currently an honors student, he was not cheerful, he was not going to be a pilot, he was not on a path towards higher education, he could not fix dirt bikes, and the image they use of him doesnt represent who george met, not even the official jftm hoody pic of him…even that is fake….its photoshopped to make him less black and less angry looking….
    • jordan2222 says:
      You are brutally honest but I could never keep track of all this crap. It is not compatible with my OS>
    • jello333 says:
      Out of the whole Martin-Fulton family, you know which person I like the most? Or I should say WOULD have liked… Travyon himself. With all his faults, he at least didn’t seem like a total phony, a total hypocrite.
      • lovemygirl says:
        I’d slap box with him like his cousin did. :)
        The story is sad all around but true Justice means George is free.
      • Sha says:
        jello: If Trayvon would have been given the attention he deserved instead of past off on to the next person to deal with , he would still be alive. I have no doubt in my mind that his parents loved him but they just didn’t know how to handle him . His mom couldn’t handle him so she sent him to his dad and His dad was to busy trying to be his friend and let him think he was grown. When he should have just been his dad and teach him right from wrong. No one wont’s to be the bad guy when it come to being a parent but they have to be. I am having the same problems now with my nephew …… the anger that he has is covering the pain. He like’s to play like he’s hard to but he’s not. It takes alot of love and attention and God know’s patients….. to get to the bottom of what’s really going on with them.
  24. tstops says:
    This was done in Sanford/Orlando by a Fox Affiliate so the equipment, if Orlando, would have been very good, and then it would have piped to ABC news via Satellite or by a system called Vivex which is fiber
    An HD recording of an image that is HD is still going to look much much much better than what was presented.
    Coming with the camera, an attitude, with the already it seems goal of using the camera for off of the screen. Now that is pre thinking an issue for some reason. Seriously, you would want another file, I doubt it was a blu ray movie file, it would still play back as a movie.
    Think what would have happened if they didn’t let her do it. What would Crump do lol.
    Its not focus, its poor resolution, to degrade an image like that from HD is either a mistake at best and intentional at the worst. If you get the original files and footage it is traceable for the most part. Its all stored in a database, its digital.
  25. tstops says:
    If someone could find out what type of cameras the station uses that Candice arrived with, that would be helpful. Be a snap to check the specs etc to see what its features were. And those cameras now can be had for 5k and up. The newsroom cameras will almost always be of the same type for the most part. Panasonic or Sony most likely, just depends on the model. They will also have some of the should mounts too, Though I see almost all locals are down to the these Handy cam things. which suck, etc they do make very good pictures, outside that they suck, from a pro point of view.
    • lovemygirl says:
      The Sony she sported for a pic costs more than a low end car. I can’t imagine that was just a photo op.
      • tstops says:
        This is an example. SHe has someting similar maybe a little more or less. Note it does have composite out for NTSC SD output. It uses as does most SOny HD camcorders AVC file storage to put it simply. AVC for editing is sometimes a real pain in the ass because of its quirks in playing back frames in the correct order.
        IF they send her out as a field producer/editor. She will have equipment to input her camera as well as equipment to put other file formats and even turn composite video into digital from playing it back out of a camera. She would need it for people that might have old video tapes like VHS they might have or other tape formats she would need to turn into digital.for editing.
        What is in my minds eye she could have easily have the gear to do things so to speak.
  26. howie says:
    The city should have spoken up. They knew it. Candice appears to fit the M.O.
  27. tstops says:
    Howie did you click all the links from sundance, The Howard university links , and scroll down, see anyone familiar, see the law students rant. and then it just gets better so to speak. all the way to an easter egg hunt.
    this deserves a revisit, for the content not the “more easily explained” part.
    it would be great if someone could find a working link to tracys fb comments…the one in this thread for the cached link of it gives a 404 error.
    I hope omara is smart enough to subpoena tracys facebook to build a foundation of how many problems tracy was having controlling his son. as well as stephen martins fb and twitter since he exposes a 2 possible previous crimes that I know of, who knows what could be found with full access to the accounts…Im thinking some private messages between tray and stephen about some vices. I will freely admit such things(trying to get some MJ) could be found on mine, and trayvon is young and stupid enough not to know better, I simply dont care because I wish facebook would prove to be a government information collection spy agency…after all mark did have a closed door meeting with obama.
    I also think crump, natalie, and any martin with a computer need them seized and searched if they cant produce the social media they deleted. I refuse to believe they would not have used the “download a copy of your FB” option right after losing him. there is no way.
  29. tstops says:
    The law school students had their say in the magazine, what the photo promoted farther down. There was also some photos of professors of the law school. One was a canadian born with heritage of an Indian (india). She had a nice picture of her hubby and children on the white house lawn for the easter egg hunt.
  30. tstops says:
    I just can’t put my finger on it just yet, but I think miss Candace is very well skilled in video technology. Able to use lots of fancy little things,…very good field production equipment for editing on the fly, Im thinking avid .Her twitter page seems to indicate she is based,.. in the big apple, (can’t give it up on 5th avenue). Means she should be well outfitted, not like a local affiliate. All kinds of toys to learn and use. IF what is in my minds eye is correct, hard to make that type of mistake of using the wrong codec.
  31. howie says:
    Infomercials. That is what they produce.
  32. brutalhonesty says:
    I think the fact shes black proves this is intentional. after all she has an ethnic duty to seek justice for trayvon. also, like beasely states in the nbc suit, they are creating news. 9 months of stories based on their edits riling up the racist black masses….and they do this in collusion with crump and julison, which is why the video “blows his self defense claim out of the water.”
    the collusion is further proven IMO by BDLR repeating the julison created talking points in court, most recently “hes selling his autograph”. How he can say crump isnt part of this and then use crumpisms in open court is beyond me,
  37. boutis says:
    The degradation of digital images of GZ taken the night of the shooting seems to be a pattern. The SPD photo taken at the scene showing lacerations, broken swollen nose, bruising and swelling was degraded to a black and white photocopy. This seems to be the same thing in that it was a HD video which was degraded and the result was a story that GZ had no injuries from an assault by TM, ergo an assault never happened which was the intent of the black and white photo also.
    Also Ms Smith labels herself a “Digital News Associate for ABC News” on her twitter account. Odd that a digital news associate does not know how to use digital format and has to demand that she be allowed to make a degraded knockoff to meet a “deadline” to show GZ wasn’t injured on the night of the shooting.
    Because ABC is commonly accepted as a credible news source, even when it’s not credible, other media use its info. And so, sites like Global Grind stated as fact the following:
    Zimmerman, who had called 911, was asked by the dispatcher if he was following the teen. When Zimmerman replied that he was, the dispatcher said, “We don’t need you to do that.” But Zimmerman pursued Trayvon anyway, leading to a confrontation which turned into the shooting shortly after.
    The Sanford police and George Zimmerman’s stories are filled with inaccuracies, especially with the newly released video of Zimmerman entering the police station for questioning, showing no visible signs of abuse
    My god, GZ could file so many lawsuits!
    • tstops says:
      A comment here about the other networks using the same footage as that provided by Candace. If this is so THAT IS NOT USUAL. If she was working for AP TV then it would be normal for shared footage. That the others got permission to use her footage, when a real copy was available from SPD is a flag in my opinion. They don’t share, they are in competition.
      When I first saw the footage from the garage entrance of GZ I thought then that it was some common NTSC SD camera’s there. Now finding out they were HD camera’s and how it came to broadcast with no “clarification” etc. that also should have been a no no. Disclaimer should have been offered or an apology for the poor quality do to technical error etc. Nope, and Beasly should be able to track it down if they wish
