A couple of us have been debating with a leftist idiot on ‘Tilda’s FB page the last couple of days. He claims that rationing and death panels will not happen under Hellcare; that Soc. Sec; Medicare and Medicaid are not broke and that Medicaid should be the business model for healthcare. He also claims that he has friends in Europe that LOVE their system and wouldn’t want to change it.
Where the he11 does this guy live–Unicornland? Does he live with his head in the clouds or stuck in the sand?! Can he not think for himself? When the @3!$ will people wake up?!! What will it take?!
You can’t convince somebody if they refuse to accept facts.
He thinks we are ignorant idiots, though I think we are gaining ground, as he has actually conceded a couple of points in a back-handed way. Of course, we provided evidence, which he did his best to ignore. I think he did his own investigation and found out that we were correct!
His latest claim is that Jesus is a liberal. I can’t wait for his definition.
I really am not going to waste any more time with him. I think he’s trying to get us to stay – that’s why his claims are getting more outrageous. I’ll bet anything that nobody else will argue politics with him any longer. He’s not a very good debater, and insults his opponents.

She answered with a diatribe on how she’s not a racist because her daughter is engaged to a “fine young black man” and that she already has grandkids that are 1/2 Mexican. She then went on to say that since we are family that maybe we shouldn’t discuss politics because she didn’t want to get anymore heated than she was.
Long story short; she tried the bleeding heart ruse about Democrats being the party that cares about the poor and that we ~as religious people~ should quit being so tight-fisted and help the poor because we all are headed that direction because of Bush and Republican polices. I posted a few facts about Warren Buffett ~his tax evasion~ and Biden with his generous charitable giving. She replied about an hour ago with that we weren’t going to change each other’s mind, that she didn’t have time to look up facts to “win an argument” and that we probably shouldn’t talk politics anymore. She then went on to continue her tirade on Republicans and ended with that she didn’t ask my opinion and doesn’t want to hear it anymore.
I replied with “How silly of me. I thought the purpose of posting an article on FB was to inform and discuss. I guess not.”
Liberals don’t want to be bothered with the facts. They just want to feel good about their good intentions.

What’s funny is that this is one of dh cousins that I have never met. He has 41 first cousins and this is one that he’s maybe met once. I’m not going to block or defriend her. I’m a member of private mommies blog. We used to have a debate thread. Most of the time we’d debate silly stuff, but when the ’08 election came around it was all politics, all the time. We tried to be civil and I thought we did a really good job of that. You can imagine the liberal crap that was put on the threads. There were 2 libs that would constantly goad me into heated arguments. I’d politely present the facts and to make it “fair & balanced,” I wouldn’t link any politically-biased sites. I’d get sharp-tongued responses, which is what I’d expected. Sometimes, I’d leave the blog feeling deflated, feeling like I just wasted a bunch of time, but then I’d log back on a few days later and my private message box would be filled with kudos from debate-shy mommies. I always felt better. There was a lib who would always come to my defense when the others would gang up on me. She and I always appreciated what we both brought to the conversation. She didn’t believe me when I brought up the right-wing terrorist memo information from the DHS. When I linked the site along with the memo, she freaked out and really started paying attention. When we conservatives started bitchin’ about Obama, the administrators shut down the debate thread over the claim that the whole purpose of the blog was to bring us together and not tear us apart. Yeah. Sure. Whatever.
My goal in debating on FB is to educate the ones lurking. Just like with your silent cheerleaders; you never know who you are influencing.

Here in VA, there are all kinds of ahem, “disadvantaged” residents who live and work in VA, send their kids to the local public schools, but have Maryland tags on their cars because MD has far less stringent requirements for a driver’s license and/or car registration. So, they get to live here, enjoy all the benefits of lower tax/cost VA but without paying state income tax and dodging the car tax as well. Oh, and if you happen to correlate the increase in crime with the increase of residents who have MD tags, then you are rayciss, even if the timing and statistics back up your assertions.
But don’t say anything about the line up of MD tags on cars in the drop-off line at the local school or you will end up attracting the ire of the local authorities, who will then write you $90 tickets for minor infractions for EVERYTHING. And a military decal is just a lightening rod for “special attention”.
Yatz, we had to deal with that with Katrina Refugees. Our crime rate went up, and remains higher than normal because too many of them do not want to go back to N. O.
Now we lock our doors and set the alarm, where pre-Katrina we did not need to.
Yep. We have had several home invasions and two attempted armed robberies at our local grocery store, as well as a carjacking/rape of a young mother from the Target parking lot. Not too mention that the scenic rural roads around the area now are littered to such a disheartening extent they look like the Mall after Teh Won’s inauguration. But none of them are ever available for community road or stream clean up days.
A large percentage who have moved in and use the MD dodge are Hispanics, who I am extrapolating, are not legal, since proof of legal residency is required for a DL/Tag in VA.
They also tend to have their children enrolled in high-cost per pupil based classes (ESOL, Special Ed, Subsidized school lunch, Subsidizes athletic/extracurricular activities and on and on and on….) But pointing out that legal residency in the District is a requirement for enrollment makes you a target for their enablers.

I have worked in the Medicaid world for the last 4+ years. I have yet to encounter anyone who has not had some form of photo ID. That would entail dealing with more than 2000 different individuals. Some of those folks had ID from a previous State as they may have moved recently, but they had a photo ID. This action from Holdup is nothing but thug behavior masquerading as sympathy for the vunnables. I call BS and would hope that every State this pissant goes after sue him right back and take it to the Courts. Every one of these cases will be overturned at some level above the State based on precedence. I know that every time Holdup goes to court he is spending our money, but at least it’s one more dollar he can’t spend on some other thug activity.
I have used this info about having to have ID for Medicare and Medicaid in debates about the photo ID here in TN. For some reason they never have an answer for it.

I was talking with a woman at the office today, who doesn’t label herself politically. We both agreed that women who have more than one (maybe two) children out of wedlock must agree to sterilization or they lose their welfare/ADC benefits. We also agreed that anyone receiving benefits should work in order to collect – pick up trash along the road or in the park, clean bathrooms in public building, etc. She believes that abortion should be allowed for welfare recipients, but I’ll talk to her about the constitutional considerations. Her thinking is that it is preferable to paying benefits for 18 years. She is socially not conservative, obviously.

I’m gonna be the bad guy here. This guy had about $450 in bills after a preventive procedure turned into a diagnostic procedure. Two things.
1) Read your policy.
2) If you can’t pay out $450 in hospital bills over time you have other issues that I’m not gonna deal with.
This is why healthcare is so expensive. No one wants to pay for anything anymore. You have to be an active participant in your health. People put more time into researching what car to buy and how much to pay for it than they do about their health, doctor, or healthcare.
BTW, it wasn’t a bait and switch as the media likes to portray it. In short, this would be the same thing as going in for an angiogram and the doc saying that you needed to have bypass surgery right now. Lot of risk every time someone is put under. Looking at this guy, he would be high risk any time he comes in contact with anesthesia.

Congratulations! You just got a personal chauffeur. Have him drive you around on errands. He’s still learning. My advice, be mindful of not just where he drives but who’s gonna be there (in the car) with him. You know him way better than anyone here.
He’s a good kid my Samuel is, came home early on New Years, did not like what was going on around him and admitted it! That never would have happened to my poor parents with me, I’m a lucky Mom.

THE HAIRCUT
Blessed are those that can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing community service this week.’ The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill , the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing community service this week.’ The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ‘thank you ‘ card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Senator came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill , the barber again replied, ‘I can not accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The Senator was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen politicians lined up waiting for a free haircut.

As far as I know, it’s true. I’ve read some other things about Thorium nuke power, and it looks pretty good. If I had the time, I’d have a thorium reactor going in the basement at Grunt Manor right now. Probably another example of the really good stuff being overlooked in the rush to moonbat-approved green technology.
Soooo, what you’re really saying is that the gubmint doesn’t really want to back something that might actually work. I’m shocked!
